[FIVE] PV's thoughts!

[progress] 9/10
This video is the most unique video in her career. Someone said "Youtube feeling" and well - I am taking this as a + I really liked the stop-motion animation, It gaved me "social" feeling with these random people.
what i liked: Mostly the animation itself, I really like the desert ending and, well, all of it
what i disliked: she looks weird at the end.. but I kinda like it o_o weird feeling. The begining is kinda boring, and it doesnt fits the rest I think (the Ayu shoot)

[Why...] 8/10
I like how she liked to give her music a little creepy/weird feeling. I like how symbolic it is, and it's not as boring as MOON/crossroad. I really enjoyed it, JUNO looks very handsome too, I like his "Mad Hatter" look a lot! And I really liked the "dream" atmosphere (remind me of my dreams a lot)
what i liked: The tree at the end. Her look. Alice concept, the weird girls!
what i disliked: It's kinda dark sometimes, It should be more "see-able" But maybe it's just LQ ver.

[ANother song] 5/10
That "high" 5 just because of her gorgeous look. She was kinda "cold" in it. Urata tried to be so american, the choreography screams "cheap" I think.
what i liked: HER ABSOLUTELY GORGEOUS look!!!!!!!! The hair are fantastic, I love her so urban. I also liked camera "twists"
what i disliked: Urata's "sexy" moving, her "cold" attitude, being bored while watching this.

[beloved] 7/10
Good video. Very warm. She looks very mature but beautiful. The story is kinda boring, nothing really special, but I enjoyed it. I was waiting like crazy for colors ("Where did they go? My monitor broke or sth?)
what i liked: Her "sexy" scenes with shadows, her look in b&w (colors made her hairstyle uglier lol) and... her smile :)
what i disliked: I dont mind these children, really. But why they are SO SAD?!

[BRILLANTE] 9/10
-1 for Timmy. Without him that would be fantastic weird PV but he screams "cheap and funny". I reaaaaly like the concept. Please dont take this as a offence, but the storyline remind me of a symbolic metaphore of... rape. She looked a little possesed by some kind of obssesion, of memory of something cruel happened.. but very cruel - because she "dies" in the end.
what i liked: I LIKED THE MEAT oh well. I love how it screams "SEX!" but in that creepy, weird way... I love the gym scene! I LOVE HER LOOK. I reaaaaaally like the "macabre" ending.
what i disliked: Timmy. He just feels like he's not good at acting, or maybe it's his look? It looks cheap.

Maemi 27th August 2011 05:35 PM

progress for such an epic song, the PV is WTF and I don't like it. It reminds me of Madonna's Ray of Light, except that Madonna's is, of course, better.
Why... is OK, but there is sth missing, which makes me not to like it very much.
ANother Song FAIL.
beloved = Beyonce's Heart-Broken Girl PV. enough said.
BRILLANTE the best among this crap called PVs. There are shirtless men almost rubbing each other, a shemale, and a crappy execution at the end, but at least an interesting one.

After all, those PVs were nothing special and the era of famous Ayumi Hamasaki PVs is obviously and sadly, over.

ExodusUK 27th August 2011 05:39 PM

progress - Interesting PV, nice change but of coruse people are going to be upset that every frame isn't Ayu's face.
Why... - Badly directed and boring.
ANother Song - terrible.
beloved - DEEP RIVER.
BRILLANTE - The best one.

lol, I think BRILLANTE pv is very close to INSPIRE/Ladies Night/Lady Dynamite/Don't look back in some way. Same level, I dont really see the end here, in fact I can see she's back to some style she used to have (not Ayu sitting in the couch and not Ayu sitting in the couch ON FIRE or not Ayu sitting on the couch with her makeup washed and not Ayu standing in the street or magic forest - but still You were got some magic :P)

yabieru 27th August 2011 05:57 PM

For me:

progress: Random. It looks like a caption of Google's Street view and she looks weird at the end. A boring pv for an amazing song.

Why: Beautiful pv. I love the Alice concept and she looks gorgeous with that butterflies dress. Love the weird concept too.

ANother song: Like pepper said, I only like Ayu's look. PV is boring and cold.

beloved: I totally love this pv. Ayu looks sweet, mature and fantastic. And the end made me cry like a child. It's a beautiful present from Ayu.

BRILLANTE: Amazing. Love the dark and tragic atmosphere. And love the meat too!! xDDD

toniayu 27th August 2011 06:06 PM

progress: really significative pv,i really like the concept. 9/10
why... : it's so magic,i really like it.It remind me of alice in wonderland 9/10
ANother song: it's a bit boring but i like the scenography 7/10
beloved: the best pv!!!9,9/10
BRILLANTE:is very mysterious,i like it but the end scares me 9,4/10

OyTony 27th August 2011 06:39 PM

progress: I like it a lot but ayu looks kinda weird in the end. 9/10
Why... : Love the dark atmosphere. 9/10
ANother song: The choreo was lame but I like ayus look. 7/10
beloved: Love the black and white part! The ending is so sweet. 8/10
BRILLANTE: LOVE IT! It's so creppy and ayu looks so beautiful. 10/10

love in music 27th August 2011 06:47 PM

VERY surprised and impressed with all of the PVs.. each one made me love each song more. I don't have time to individually review each one but..

progress - 9/10
Why... - 8/10
ANother Song - 7/10
beloved - 9/10
BRILLANTE - 10/10

guess I'm going to be buying the CD+DVD :P was kind of hoping the PV's wouldn't be so good so I wouldn't have to spend more on it lol.

Jason 27th August 2011 07:00 PM

progress
I liked it. It was different. Had a very "youtube" feel like pepper said. I didn't know what to expect from it, to be honest. I like the concept and I think it goes well with the song. 8/10

Why...
After the first few seconds I thought it was going to be a typical ballad PV from her (OOH IT'S SO PRETTY!) but I liked the "Alice in Wonderland" concept. Made it a bit different. I think JUNO's appearence is vastly forgotten about, though. He didn't get much to do, I felt :P 9/10

ANother song
Very typical R&B music video. I didn't like it. 4/10

beloved
Ayu looked amazing in this PV. The ending completely capped it off really well. It even put a smile on my face :) 9/10

BRILLANTE
The strangest out of the bunch. I think it was the best directed out of the lot of them as it's the most compelling. It fits the song perfectly and I thought Ayu looked damn hot aswell :P 10/10

sanzo2011 27th August 2011 07:12 PM

All of them except for BRILLANTE are far better than i thought! of course they're not good as some of her older pvs but for sure better than all the lame pvs in Love songs(leave MOON and do it again apart)!
P/s: i hope here's the last time Ayu brings gay theme/images into her PV!I haven't bought rock'n'roll circus just because of lady dynamite!

fanayutic 27th August 2011 07:21 PM

progress: Those ayu closeups are cool! Feels like a commercial snippet XD But those zoom scenes are making me dizzy LOL. hope I would accept it as a ultra special ayu pv after I see it a few more times XD [7/10]

Why... feat. JUNO: Very abstract! Love the concept of the PV.. The ending was so special! Anyway, I was kind of laughing at the weird movements of the models chasing after ayu hahah! [9/10]

ANother song: Haven't seen ayu in those braids ever since CDL04-05 heh. As for the PV, I think that the overall setting just doesn't match with the song. It's as though smth's missing in that PV or maybe it's the song. Dream ON's PV is definitely better imo. [6.5/10]

beloved: The most meaningful PV ever created! From BW (disasters, despair, sadness, etc) to colourful, showing how Japan is still standing strong <3. It delivers the message "LOVE & HOPE" to the World! I love how they created that backdrop plus those letters spelling "LOVE & HOPE"! Amazing!! [10/10]

BRILLANTE: It's just WOW! Ayu is a goddess LOL! It's like Cleopatra and the modern warriors (although I find absolutely no link between them). Song is awesome! Love the exotic touch added to the song, just like don't look back. The only problem for me is that I don't understand the ending for this PV X.x [8/10]

BlackSilence 27th August 2011 07:45 PM

progress: hmmm I loved the shots of her.. the PV isn't amazing, but i liked that it was somehow different, i don't think Ayu have had something like that before.

Why..: i absolutelly love it, my fave from the bunch. I loved the concept beautifulXcreepy = AMAZING

ANother song: borring but ok, i liked some of the shots, typical PV for such style of the song.

beloved: second fave of the FIVE. I love how simple and warm. I loved the shots with kids and the way the video from b&w turned into color. The ending made me smile. I loved it!

BRILLANTE: the oddest one lol I totally couldn't get the song and the video to link one to each other, but i liked the ending, creepiness is always good especially if Ayu is involved >]

ughhh i know!!! the whole feel of the PV was kind of ruined everytime i looked at him.... he looked like one of those people you see in photobombs. plus instead of looking all serious, he looked like he was getting a kick out of chanting like some weirdo~~~:roflmao:roflmao i also REALLLLY loved the dark ending. When i first listened to the cd rip of BRILLANTE, is going like what the *#@#3 is up with this ending?:grumpy:grumpy:grumpy but after watching the PV it made me appreciate the way it ended. although those gym scenes felt "out of place" and random to me.

i also loved how Why looks like some sort of twisted version of alice in wonderland:love:love:love

i'd definitely pick these PVs over the ones from Love songs... makes me feel glad that i bought this before Love songs :yes

Maemi 27th August 2011 07:49 PM

That woman chanting is actually a guy?

yeah, he's a composer of the song, and choir voice it's also his
You can see his chest in some cuts, definitely a man~

brener 27th August 2011 08:14 PM

i loved ALL OF THEM!! my favorites are BRILLANTE and progress!!

fanayutic 27th August 2011 08:15 PM

LOL i also just figured out that the 'lady' beside is actually a guy coz I can see his nips clearly (from 4:57 - 5:02 of PV) XD

zoomzoom 27th August 2011 08:21 PM

I was extremely impressed with the videos, the standard was really high in all of them. Some better than others, but with the exception of ANother song I thought they were all interesting, all of them well made.

I really liked how they all gave something completely different.

JackieRos 27th August 2011 08:22 PM

majority is wtf

idk why brillante is such a big deal. progress is a waste of space. another song is an ok pv.

beloved and why are amazing I love them.

adantatu2 27th August 2011 08:57 PM

progress - Good pv, the animation is perfect, but i want more ayu.......9/10

Why... - I like the butterflies and the concept, i think they are pretty cool, maybe this pv needs more weird scenes.........9/10

ANother song - The most boring PV of FIVE, ayu looks pretty cool, but i only see the dancers and urata dancing.........6/10

beloved - I like the changes between b&w and color. Maybe isn't very original, but is ok.....8/10

BRILLANTE - It's amazing, but the guy with ayu is creeppy and honestly i was expecting fights, XD........9/10

waterballoon 27th August 2011 09:12 PM

progress - So-so... I like the idea a lot, but something's really amaterish about the camera work

Why... - 2nd best. Love the Alice in Wonderland theme.... beautiful imagery... Ayu looks good, ZUNO's cute too.

beloved - it's 1 of those PVs I play to remind myself how beautiful she is just being herself. Doesn't help that the song is so soothing and sweet too :heart

BRILLIANTE - best song and PV of the album, hands down. Amazing symbolism and imagery and the ending was just wow. It felt better than the endings of most movies these days :thumbsup

PoetGirl 27th August 2011 09:39 PM

progress - I cried during it, I think its awsome.

ANother song - for that kind of song its perfect, but I would like it if there were brighter colours and more ayu dancing but still, its amazing

Why - I didnt like darker parts, I wanted it to be brighter too but overall I liked it

beloved - oh god I cried during beloved too, I saw international fans in those kids all around the world and when they pointed hands to the sky I was sure she was singing about her fans, especially part in lyrics 'i want you to praise me when others deny me' , so emotional...

BRILLANTE - just epic

rusuke 27th August 2011 10:13 PM

"progress" - I'm OK with it. It's not something that Ayu did before but I don't like Ayu's face at the end of the PV. 3/5

"Why..." - It's so Alice in wonderland theme and I like it! So interesting and wonderful! 4/5

"ANother song" - a typical RnB PV but I like how it turned out. Simple choreography but suits the song so it doesn't matter. 3/5

"beloved" - My most favorite PV among the Five. Ayu is so simply beautiful. Light make up, no elaborated costumes and sets, running children, beach and colorful kites make this PV simply touching! So simple and yet so beautiful. When I Ayu kneeled to the two kids, I thought they are her own children!!! I thought Ayu would be a kind, loving and wonderful mother! 5/5

"BRILLIANTE" - My least fave among the Five. I know it has a deeper meaning but I just don't like how it creeps me because of the last part. I can watch the men with just underwear although the gym scene is kinda weird, but still I just can't watch it more. OKAY, I was disappointed because I can't show this PV to the living room. But the song is good! But who knows it might changed my taste. 2/5

ayu_ready? 27th August 2011 10:15 PM

progress - :no
ANother song feat. URATA NAOYA - okay but boring
Why... feat. JUNO - KAWAII
beloved - nice, but out of all nature-water PVs SURREAL is still the best :yes
BRILLANTE - the best song the best PV :luv2, please make more like this

Kashoku 27th August 2011 10:16 PM

BRILLANTE IS BRILLIANT.

The entire time I felt like she was a Goa'uld and Tim was Skaara from Stargate and that made me love it x10000000000000.

jkm444 27th August 2011 10:16 PM

Why.. my favorite from all 5 pvs! I love the fairy tail theme for this music video!
beloved very artistic and simple! My second favorite pv!
BRILLANTE, third favorite pv! Another music video I can't show in the living room..
progress sort of reminds me of Madonna's ray of light music video.
Another song =boring!

the3ye 27th August 2011 10:25 PM

and the winner is.....

HTMSD 27th August 2011 10:41 PM

progress : 8/10 it fit with the lyrics, I can feel the hype about A WORLD IS ONE in that.
Why... : 6/10 the only thing I liked in that PV is the butterflies, also the randomness like she did with SLT and alterna.
ANother song : 5/10 Urata runing the PV (for me, lol)
beloved : 9/10 I love the transition between the black/white scene and color scene. I felt that the PV is about ayu wants to suicide herself in a beach because Mannie couldn't give her a child. When she's gonna doing that, she saw a bunch of kid playing, and adopt then. Although, I was trapped by the "Under the same sky" title at the end (LOL so much)
BRILLANTE : 6/10 I'm a man, and I hate those flesh. The only thing I like on that dark PV is the ending, seems that ayu want to go out from that sea of flesh, but forced to stay there until she die. Yeah, I think something about a country which is only man live there, and think that women is god. LOL.

SKYia 27th August 2011 11:29 PM

I've been thinking of BRILLANTE PV as it reminded me of something but didn't know what was that. It wasn't any particular clip or movie or anything, something rather like a scenario. I was thinking about her way of shivering and the guy who kept sing with the same face and now I know. You may laugh but it slightly reminds me of Nero's death from Quo Vadis (just the story).

Here's how I understand the story, you don't have to agree ;)

In the beginning Ayu's sleeping in the arms of her personal advisor, a person who is like second family, she trusts him no matter what. Don't you get the feeling that his singing sounds as if he was repeating "Do it, you have to do it, you have no other choice". She wakes up tired as if she has been thinking about sth for a very long time or made a fatal decision. Her face is sad and she looks as if she's about to start crying, while the guy is self-confident and sometimes even smiling, almost saying "there's no other way, you are strong, you can do it". He even shooshes her at some point as if to calm her.

In the meantime, scenes show Ayu walking and dancing among her "army" / people. This may be the past since her face is calm and she's confident. It may show how great emperor / boss she used to be, the guys do their exercises, however, some of the guys look at her as if they knew she's about to do something wrong (something they won't like), rumors are being spread, etc.

The interlacing scenes with Timmy show Ayu being totally lost, she already did something wrong, her army revolts. She escapes to the highest point, her throne and they climb after her. There's this beautiful contrast between the scenes with the red sky and her people standing around her and protecting her (the past) and the scenes with black sky and her people trying to reach her with angry faces which suggests bad intentions (the present).

Timmy, still being next to her, still tells her to do it and now we can assume that he wants her to commit suicide, the crowd wants to get her but she finally says she will do it herself (or he screams that for her, I still cannot say whether he pushes her into the crowd or not, seems so at first but then he seems to scream NO at some point and stretches his hand in her direction).

She gets back on the trone and then understands that she had been tricked by her advisor and he was never a person she could have trusted. She's face to face with him for a short moment but before she manages to ask or do anything he kills her.

OyTony 27th August 2011 11:36 PM

^
I like your interpretation. I came up with the same story in my mind. XD

voltron 27th August 2011 11:37 PM

Is it just me, or does it look like the desert road in the Progress video look like the road she's walking down in Daybreak PV?

SKYia 27th August 2011 11:55 PM

Quote:

Originally Posted by voltron (Post 2743548)

Yup, the whole PV felt like going back through Ayu's life / PVs, it's not just Japan, there's desert like in Virgin Road / Next Level / Inspire etc, there a beach (blue bird / fairyland, etc) , urban areas (e.g. appears, love song), a disco (lady dynamite), a hotel corridor and room (Ladie's night / is this love), and then there's just Ayu on the road, her winding road. And just like some people didn't like Daybreak PV they won't like this one ;)

When this PV started I was disappointed, I hoped it will either tell a story of the first two people in the PV (guy in subway and girl outside) or it will go from one person to another showing Ayu on the way (showing her singing the most powerful parts). I was 100% sure she will appear at the very end of the video, this was too obvious.

I wish that instead of those random people there was Ayu in either random clothes or dressed like herself from several past clips. I don't hate this PV but it could be nice idea for some other song, Progress is so amazing that it deserves a better PV, some mindblowing story with lot's of things going on :p

shuyalove 28th August 2011 12:00 AM

I´m totally according with Skyia!
but I don't know why in the end he (Timmy) became bad

jyujiw 28th August 2011 12:14 AM

Wow SKYia this interpretation of progress blow out my mind now =O I would never notice something like that.

And I really like the story behind BRILLANTE, she seems to be the ruler of them all, seeming strong in front of all but weak when she is with Timmy, and when she tries to get over the throne and change her life, she's pushed back and dies. Something like we can't do everything we want.

truehappiness 28th August 2011 12:45 AM

The guy who appears on the desert road near the 3/4 mark of progress looks VERY familiar. I'm not sure what I remember him from...

Tom Punks 28th August 2011 12:58 AM

progress - I don't like it and I'll probably never watch it again. Actually, I'm really let down because this song could have had an AMAZING PV, but... yeah, it doesn't.

ANother song - UGH THE CORNROWS. I thought we were waaay past this, Ayu. The PV isn't terrible, but then, it's not great either. There's nothing going on and Ayu doesn't even do anything but stand there and watch the other guys dance. Won't be watching this again either.

Why... - This one was pretty decent. The editing could have been much better, and it would have been awesome if she'd fallen through the bed or something at the beginning, instead of just... being shown falling randomly. (Yes, I get that she's dreaming, but that doesn't mean they can't make the transition smoother.) I like how the butterflies cover her and make her butterfly dress and I like JUNO in this. :lech

beloved - I think this was the best PV of the bunch, but I don't favor it. I wanted more shots of Ayu in the hawt black dress!

BRILLANTE - Everyone seems to love this PV, but I thought it was incredibly boring. Six minutes of nothing going on and then Ayu dying at the end. I'll pass...

sesshy 28th August 2011 01:01 AM

Progress - I liked the speeding through different areas. Though... I'm trying to understand if they were trying to match it with the song.

Why - It was... um. I don't know. The only thing I liked were the lady's dress and Ayumi's outfit. Oh, also the rose room. Were they trying some kind of Alice in Wonderland inspiration? :shrug

ANother song - It was boring, but I like the song.

beloved - Simple and nice PV

BRILLANTE - I don't know how I feel about it. :laugh It did reminded me of INSPIRE.

I wasn't so hyped up with the PVs. Songs are nice, but PVs didn't impress me much.

Larisa-chan 28th August 2011 01:17 AM

I agree 100% with the first paragraph of SKYia's interpretation.

But I don't think Timmy became "bad" in the Brillante PV. When the guys were trying to pull Ayu down from the throne, he was trying to pull her back up, but was held back by the guys. And he looks pretty devastated when she dies...

...It's creepy that she just cries from one eye, and she's crying blood. (I highly doubt that it's her makeup running, it the coloring is red and the liquid looks thicker than water)

TeamAyu2004 28th August 2011 01:19 AM

Did anybody notice in the PV beloved she did the "Hand Thing"
(The hand in the sky video that AHS sent out) thought that was pretty cool.

Over all i liked all the PV's. Some were done and over with but over all they were good. I loved the effects in all of them. And I love how in beloved the color slowly comes into the video... amazing.

dayumi 28th August 2011 01:20 AM

progress: I really like the idea. Love the stop motion mix video thing here. It's quite unique and rare for her to do it. I also love the raw feeling of the video. Great one! I like that she features different kinds of people, but I actually keep waiting for her to appear. Still good though. (8.5/10)

Why...: I love it! I always love dark PVs like this. Love the contrast between dark and colorful. I really think she could do more with the "Alice in Wonderland" concept though, but I still think it's great. Loving the setting and outfits, especially the girl in the box, that's really cool. My favorite part is gotta be the three, very beautiful. (9/10)

ANother song: My least favorite PV of the bunch. Nothing interesting about it and very bland and boring IMO. A very predictable PV for this kind of song. She looks gorgeous, no doubt about that. I really like the silhouette with lighting thingy part (if you know what I mean). Overall, this PV is plain boring. (5/10)

beloved: Love this PV a lot! It's simple yet amazing. Love the message this PV is telling us. I agree with what fanayutic said about how this PV is showing us that Japan is still standing strong. I really like it. Love the backdrop so much, it's very cute and simple and colorful. I really love this pv, loving its simplicity. (10/10)

BRILLIANTE: Amazing! like I said earlier, I always love dark and strange PVs like this. I think this PV is absolutely beautiful, the song is very beautiful. Love her look and outfit so much in this one, also her movement. Very beautiful. Everything in this PV is working perfectly except the guy/drag who sits next to her. That's the only bad thing about this PV, but I can still tolerate though. Overall, this PV is amazing IMO. Everything is great, Ayu, the setting, the cinematography, the guys, except the guy/drag who sits next to her. The gym scene is my favorite! (9.5/10)

AHS...?

I don't want to sound rude, but AHS did not give much importance to that. If it reached Ayu it was generally thanks to the facebook page^^

TeamAyu2004 28th August 2011 01:30 AM

^ I remember people talking about it on here... I forgot where it came from though.. it was facebook... :yes

EDIT:
I thought people on here said that it was played at some of her concerts... I could not be remembering it right though...

miki_beland 28th August 2011 01:35 AM

Well, Aura had the idea of making some kind of project with fan's hands, and we decided to make a video. I did the video myself and sended it to Ayu, and yes, they included it on the tour. I was at Yoyogi concerts last month and the video is shown before encore and the audience got really moved by it. Of course the thread of the project in AHS started to grow up when we already gave the present to Ayu =(

TeamAyu2004 28th August 2011 01:39 AM

thats too bad! I thought it was a wonderful idea and it just struck me while watching the video that might be were she got the idea! So I wanted to give props! :)

(I know she does this with her pictures, but never did it in any other format till now!)

miki_beland 28th August 2011 01:50 AM

Well in fact, it SURELY is influenced by the video aura and me made, Leslie himself told me at Yoyogi.

ownsarai 28th August 2011 02:04 AM

^That is so awesome!
I love how much Ayu's fans inspire her, as she inspires us. I wish I could have been able to be part of that project.

I only really watched BRILLANTE cause it's the only song I found worth it...

and...yeah, sorry. I don't really like the PV.

It's so ridiculous, over the top, and out of place. It's like, all dark and mystical, and then we're in a very real locker room, I guess, and Ayu is just flailing there for like 2 whole minutes. And then they're walking with everyone...to...NOWHERE apparently...

Her overacting is really annoying too. Completely contrasts her simple drama in the song. I agree with giving her the Razzie. Almost ruined the thing for me.

After that though, I think it gets better. Her crying is still too much...but meh. I think I could have watched 6 whole minutes of them just trying to get to her and kill her on her throne, than go through...whatever she went through before that, because none of it was meaningful enough to me.

Sorry...I can deal with over the top stuff, and I can deal with the premise, it's fine...but... idk...some things just kinda make it...meh.

The red, blue, and gold of her oufit, also remind me of Wonder Woman...which I guess might be intentional, especially with all the gym guys around, but to me, it takes away from the drama because it makes her look out of place. But I guess that's only because I feel like the gym guys are out of place.

So whatever. The song is great, but I think it was BARELY enough to hold this PV together. There weren't enough ideas as far as the direction. I mean, you can make a good PV out of a good song and have nothing happening, and have it still be entertaining...

but, it's just not happening here for me. Best part was when she was dead...and in a 6 minute PV...damn...

hidekirby 28th August 2011 02:23 AM

progress : LOVE it!! So unexpected! It really adds something to the song (which I don't really "like"). I could do without ayu at the end (0_0")
beloved : So awkward. Don't see the point of those scenes in the studio. It's like the song, boring. She looks bad in that white dress, and that haircut is terrible. The children really seem to enjoy the PV too (...). The final scene is a failure.
ANother song : It perfectly fits the song too : it's boring and embarassing. It's becoming nice at the very end with the choreography, yet it's too late.
Why... : It lacks something, cohesion maybe. I have the felling they didn't know where they were going. It's odd, not in a good way. It had potential.
BRILLANTE: WTF is this!? Seriously, I was laughing at the end of the PV. Too bad, ayu's hot as hell and her acting is pretty good. Tim is bothering me, doing this bad playback (while there is clearly several layer of voices) in that awkward outfit... His acting is pretty annoying and he always distracted me. And the end... haha!

Overall the PVs had potential but end up being weird. I like the originality of progress and some things in BRILLANTE. I want to forget the rest...

SPEAKERnight. 28th August 2011 02:29 AM

These are the most creative PVs of hers in a good while. I love the surrealism of Why.. and the guerrilla-like feel of progress; no one would have expected a video like that from Ayu. My favorite would have to be either Why, progress, or BRILLIANTE..Oh BRILLIANTE...how you amaze me so with the Middle Eastern theme. I love these a lot.

Yumsushi 28th August 2011 04:55 AM

Well, I will give her credit for not putting Mannie in all of the videos, lol. I know she tried to make them interesting and different, but I still found ANother song and Brillante (interesting song) were laughable, progress boring, Why...didn't make any sense, beloved (pleasant song) was also boring but atleast she looked good in that black dress.

Now that everything is out, I can finally conclude that I have no interest in buying this release, unless it magically grows on me. Alot of people are raining praises but honestly, none of these songs or Pvs are memorable in any way to me. And please stop saying Brillante is Middle Eastern when it's more like a confused Thai Cleopatra that owns a boxing ring.

*hearT_Place* 28th August 2011 05:14 AM

Brilliante This is one of Ayu's most poignant and chilling videos ever. I would say that certain scenes of this video may be possible trigger-warnings to rape survivors. My analysis is long, so I'm putting it in spoiler tags.
Spoiler:
The first time I watched this video, I really didn't like it. It seemed to use a lot of tropes that I don't like: Lots of men who exist just to do Ayu's bidding and, especially, Ayu deifying herself. Plus, I found the scene where she is being pulled off of the chair really scary. The atmosphere of the song didn't seem to fit with the music video *at all*, and I kind of wondered where her head had been at when she made the video.

HOWEVER, then I watched it a second time, and have a completely different view of it. It seems to me to be a portrayal of how women are viewed by patriarchal cultures, and how damaging that portrayal is to women (and men). In patriarchal cultures, women seem to be separated into two groups: virgins or *****s, "good" women or "bad" women. When "good" women do something that isn't the epitome of femininity, they are punished severely, and men see women in general as dolls or flowers they can do anything with. The "good" women are whom I primarily see this video as being about.

Patriarchal cultures put "good" women, women who are the epitome of their notions of femininity, on a sort of a pedestal. They lift them up as fragile flowers or porcelain dolls, praising their beauty like they're a group of demi-goddesses. This view of femininity has a very, very dark side to it, and I'll talk about two reasons why here. One, flowers and porcelain dolls are good for nothing other than looking beautiful; without beauty, these things are worthless. Or, let's say the flower has medicinal properties; to exploit those properties, one must crush the flower, destroying its beauty. So, in these cultures, women can either be independent and contribute to society in a fulfilling way (the "bad" woman), or beautiful and vapid (the "good" woman), not both (in the 1800s, when a woman was sick, doctors prescribed the rest cure, which meant that their husbands shut them in a room, forced them to be fully dependent on others, and forbade them from any sort of intellectual stimulation. Intelligence was not natural in a woman).
Two, in these cultures, consent is nonexistent. Men believe that they can do anything they want to with, and to, women, no matter the woman's feelings or thoughts on the situation. In fact, her thoughts don't matter at all. Any pain or fear or anguish she's feeling doesn't matter at all. She's just a beautiful doll meant to give pleasure to men.

In these cultures, the female form is used as a symbol time and time again. Look at ancient Greece. That society was incredibly misogynistic (Zeus forced Hera to marry him, and Pandora, the first woman, was made as a punishment. Agamemnon, one of the great heroes of the Illiad, forced his wife to marry him after killing her father and first husband, and then sacrificed his daughter so he could sail to Troy.), and yet the Greek pantheon includes Athena, the goddess of war, and Artemis, the virgin goddess of the moon and of the hunt. But these two goddesses were merely symbols; they were never connected with real women, and it is the same in every patriarchal culture. Women are never viewed as having thoughts or experiences worth caring about, and the punishment for a woman overstepping her bounds is severe.

That's what I believe this video is about. The men are prime specimens of masculinity; they all look like they were sculpted by Michelangelo. Their lives are lives of grittiness and sweat, fighting and feats of strength, as they continue to fight and train and prepare for the next battle. They are living their lives, and living them well.

Ayu is there with them, leading them at one point. However, Ayu is different. The first time you see her with the men, her mouth is covered. She is there to see and be seen, but has no voice. She has to wait until one of the men takes off her face-covering and gives her a voice. Other than that, the men only stare at her; they don't interact with her. She does a few little dances that are delicate (a "typical" feminine trait), and mainly show off her beauty.

Speaking of beauty, Ayu is impeccably, immaculately beautiful here. However, nothing she is wearing has any practical value in the environment she is in. The clothes look like they are difficult to move in, and that hairband would just get in the way). Plus, she is in heels. You can't fight in heels (check out this article on the symbolism of high heels. I think it fits very well with the PV http://loosegarments.com/2011/04/21/...-helplessness/). The gold part of her bodice looks sort of like a champion belt, but that's all it is, an imitation. As she is, she can never reach the level these fighters have reached; to do so, she would have to break boundaries they would try to stop her from breaking. She is nothing more than a flower, a doll, a statue, "leading" them but not respected or truly valued by them as a complete human being, as an equal.

The next scenes, when Ayu is on the throne, show both the lie and the truth of the way patriarchal cultures put women on pedestals. In the sunset, she is glorious in her beauty, and the men stand around her, valiant protectors. However, night falls, and the truth comes out (kind of like how, in horror, all of the monsters come out after dark). She is a thing to them, and when they want something from her, they take it.

This next part is really chilling (possible trigger-warning for sexual assault survivors): Ayu doesn't get back onto her throne on her own; the men drag her down, and then the scene changes to Ayu and Timmy, and then, when it changes back, the men are pushing Ayu back to the top. Then she dies. I think the implication is all to clear.

I think the scenes of Timmy and Ayu are her psychological state as she lives the life of a woman on a pedestal, and I think Timmy's primary purpose is to egg her on, to tell her that she shouldn't change her circumstances, despite how much those circumstances are destroying her. During the sunset throne scenes, he is worshiping her, encouraging her in her life as a flower and, at the end, he seems really surprised at what happened, like he had no idea what the natural consequences of that sort of culture were. He never looks horrified at what she is going through (until the end), as if he sees her role as necessary, and that she just needs to get out her emotions and then do what she's supposed to. I'm not 100% sure on this, because I don't know what he is chanting to her, but this is my take on it so far.

progress I had heard reports that this was the content of the video, which lessened my disappointment...a little. Still, this was not a well-done video. It didn't fit the song at all; in fact, for such an epic song, it was quite the let-down.

beloved Very sweet. I was surprised at how much I liked this video, but I did. As for the ending...was that some sort of homage to the thing Ayu fans did a while ago, where they took pictures of their hand and said something like "under the same sky"? Cause if it was, that's freaking awesome.

ANother song I...actually liked this song. I wasn't expecting to, but I did. The piano throughout the song was nice. The video, on the other hand, was boring. Given how I feel about Ayu's dancers being pushed in our faces from 2006 on, I can't believe I would ever complain about them being too much in the background, but that day has come. I think they should have been in the forefront a *little* more, just to add something else of interest to the video. I can't believe those words just came out of my mouth :thud I *may* have seen a glimpse of Shu-ya's face once (to think, I'd wish for more Shu-ya :laugh)

Why...I liked it. Not her best, but very pretty and everything was interesting to look at.

These videos weren't her best, not even close, except for BRILLIANTE, which was, well, brilliant. I had been excited about 5 PVs, but now I wonder if it would be better to have 2 really good ones instead of 4/5 mediocre ones. Ah well. I can't wait to see how these are imagined live.

Yumsushi 28th August 2011 05:16 AM

I want it to grow on me. I love the covers and the booklet, but unfortunately that isn't enough for me to spend my hard earned money on it, even OS version. Maybe one day...

jbrat2219 28th August 2011 05:23 AM

^ I definitely understand where you're coming from. The covers, the magazine scans... Seriously the best in years. Judging a book by it's cover this album would come off as a masterpiece, but sadly for many Ayu fans it isn't even tolerable. My advice, play the songs as background music while you're preoccupied. I really started liking ANother song in particular after it came on while I was studying. Same thing happened with beloved, very soothing to listen to while reading. The songs themselves may not stand out and make you go WOW, but as background music for certain activities, they're good enough to make you want to listen to them again.

I agree. On first listen I had complained beloved & ANother song were really crappy and was actually getting ready to call this one of her worst releases.. but giving them a few more spins made them grow on me a lot, and funny thing is now I actually love them. Sometimes you just need a few plays. But if after that you still dislike them then yeah, obvs not for you.

emi♡ 28th August 2011 05:35 AM

I think the good thing about the songs is that they are easy to listen to songs.

Sometimes, you know, I don't want some crazy dramatic Free & Easy type song...sometimes I just want a song that's pleasant to kick back and listen to while I'm doing stuff.

And I think a lot of these are definitely those kind. Honestly, I don't like the songs, so, I won't be listening to them...but I don't think that it's crazy if people do.

That being said, as much as I can appreciate the songs, when I compare them to everything else she's done, JUST for the sake of comparing, cause, I really don't care all that much, it's still one of her worst releases imo, if not her worst...

but I don't really see, necessarily why that has to be, such a bad thing. I mean, Ayu's got one damn FINE discography lol

And I mean, most of the things done here, are really just for the sake of doing them, they don't really have to have all kinds of meaning...so I hope people don't get, so, hurt, or offended, or discouraged by polls or if a lot of people hate on the album or the songs.

We all have different reasons for liking and listening to music.

edit: maybe this post should go in another thread...lol oh well!

jbrat2219 28th August 2011 05:45 AM

^ I think the biggest difference about fan reactions this time (at least for me personally) is that it is understandable why people would think this is her worst release, I can see why they think the songs suck whereas with previous releases, I honestly could not. And I think it's because we're all not stupid enough to believe 3/5 songs are up to Ayu's usual caliber but those of us who like them just accept them for what they are.

emi♡ 28th August 2011 05:53 AM

^that's true.

I also think it's easier for people to understand why others don't like a song.....when they don't like it either :laugh

I think this, honestly, even when like B&D came out, I don't think the negative reactions were this bad at all. And well, I think it's understandable, cause it's such a different style, of course her normal fans aren't going to like it AS much.

If she started doing like, hardcore death screamo metal... I bet we'd have a ton of understanding too lol

But you know, Ayu's always been diverse, and she's always introducing us to new stuff, and we need people like that!

...I wonder if jbrat will start listening to R&B now :innocent :P lol

jbrat2219 28th August 2011 05:55 AM

FIVE pvs >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> Love songs pvs

truehappiness 28th August 2011 06:03 AM

I don't think it helped that two out of five tracks were not Ayu-centric. If this were a normal 14-15 track album it probably would not have affected the release as much, but with only five songs... it was gonna happen, lol.

YUKARI 28th August 2011 06:06 AM

I don't like PVs that much.

BRILLANTE is the best. I love everything about this song, but PV is too dramatic, it makes me feel very sad and depressed. the whole album has a depressive mood, which tbh I don't like ~.~

progress. I loved this PV! it's LA Santa Monica beach, right? :D

ANother song is extremely boring! I couldn't even watch it till the end.

beloved is OK, a bit boring, but I liked this "hand-thing" :)

Why... is beautiful, but I'm sure it could be better.

still all the pvs from FIVE are much better than those from Love songs :D

Jennie Mae 28th August 2011 08:00 AM

I'm a bit let down by the PV for progress. It's such an epic song and so much could be done with it, and it's 90% stock footage of scenery.
ANother song seems pretty mediocre, it looks like they took an hour to shoot it, but it's still alright, Ayu and Naoya look great. Why... is very nice and reminds me of the clown scenes in alterna (with the changing sizes) but I feel like it could have been more.
BRILLANTE is a spectacle, and I'm still trying to figure out what the heck it's all about. When I hear the song I picture a PV more like INSPIRE, but this was close enough.

truehappiness 28th August 2011 08:42 AM

It's not stock footage. It was shot for the PV specifically.

progress 6/10
I really loved the feeling of the PV during the first part of the song, the slow movement of the school kids in the shadows gave a really nice nostalgic feeling. Then the scrolling was nice at first and I like how she used both America and Japan for hubby and her so it made it more touching. Though I think it would have been nice to have one break for something else in the middle of the scrolling and then finish with the scrolling to Ayu at the end which was awesome too... But I give it a 6/10 because the scrolling just keeps going and going...

ANother song 6/10
Not too bad, nothing special and nothing terrible. I loved the red laser effects on Ayu and the PV suited the song, I think the angles and sometimes the lighting were terrible, you could hardly tell it was Ayu and Naoya. I liked the dancing at the end. I think they could have done more with it

beloved 8/10
This is what a beautiful Ayu ballad PV is all about. Even though there wasn't a story line and it was just a bunch of shots of her being pretty and happy, it was well done, some songs just don't call for a complex story line. I love the little wedding garter she was wearing with the shredded fabric dress, it makes it personal. Then I loved the black dress shots it was breath taking and she looked beautiful. The kids were a little on the Michael Jackson side (not disrespect I am an MJ fan) for me, but still cute. But above all the hands raised and "under the same sky" note at the end was the best, it shows she really listens to her fans and that we are her "beloved" too :)

Why... 7/10
I don't know how to feel about this PV I was stuck between a 6.5 and 7 so I just bumped it to 7. The PV in itself is very beautiful, well composed and different. Though it would have suited an upbeat song better kinda like how she did Ladies Night. The series of events that happen in the PV are kinda boring and again I think that that's because it's a ballad and you don't want too much going on. Thats the problem, when I think of Alice in Wonderland I think of crazy, color, and excitement, not a duet love song, so trying to "calm down" the theme of Alice in Wonderland it's really appropriate, I think that's the best word to describe it, the themes weren't appropriate for the song.

BRILLANTE 10/10
Perhaps Ayu gave this song this name because in her head she even said, "wow this is BRILLIANT". One of her best songs and PVs in years, I won't waste time explaining why, my feeling are pretty much the same as everyone else, emotion, the ending, naked guys, how well it fits with the song, etc.

I give this PV a 10/10 but if I were to pick out the small flaws this is one of them, I wish it would have been all in the past like instead of a locker room had the men carry her stuff around in a pretty room with velvet curtains or something like that. Then Timmy was really annoying (huge props for making the song but please don't be in it if you are going to over act THAT bad) I felt Ayu's acting was great though!

auss246 28th August 2011 09:03 AM

I like all PVs. BRILLANTE was amazing, beloved made me tear up from the second chorus onwards. She looked gorgeous in all of them, I thought.

Corvina 28th August 2011 12:44 PM

progress = The best for me, I'd have never guessed that. Great concept, nicely done. A bit long maybe, so it gets a bit boring. And they could have cut Ayu completely out, cause she appearing there is pretty random. Also she looks weird at the end, don't know what they have done to her.
Another song = Wow, how random and boring. Love what Ayu wears, but the rest is not capturing at all. And the so called dance at the end...just laughable, those are just some random moves.
Why... = Hm, nice settings, nice costumes, nice ideas...but so boring to watch! Could have been so much better. Like the end though.
beloved = That's a nice PV! Ayu looks great, not much overacting and a lovely meaning with using the under the same sky theme from fans.
BRILLANTE = LOL, this PV looks so tacky and Ayu looks horrible! I always have to laugh when Ayu tries to go middle eastern with her look or costumes, doesn't fit at all.
I really, really like the end though and I guess I get what deeper meaning they wanted to show, but....how it's done. :(
It also gets pretty boring.
I don't know I have this problem with all Five PVs.
Also Ayu is overacting again and this Timmy seems out of place, cause he looks like he's having fun chanting next to her suffering.

A bit better than RnRC and Love songs PVs I guess, but it's alwas a hit or miss with Ayu's PVs for me. Overall ok.

I've always never cared about PVs. The PVs look cheap, but seriously I'd rather high quality music than Ayu spending a few days filming videos.
progress was cheap as but very meaningful, seeing Ayu at the end, after travelling through all those cities, allies, roads, desert plains, everything, that is Ayu's progress

AyUmIXx 28th August 2011 03:22 PM

Progress PV 3/5
first impression: i felt DIZZY lols coz the fast-moving scene which is actually cool coz they made it stopped in front of many random persons then they go on again. but then, it lacks of AYU lols. i mean why not make all those random persons are AYU herself in different outfits maybe? or like she's the one who filming the whole scenes, taking self-cam? lol. sigh, with such awesome song, it deserves much better PV.

ANother song PV 4/5
I like the PV because this is very typical RnB dance PV and i've used to see this type of PV. I like the dance part and everyone dancing in a cool way. I think they don't really show ayu's and Nao's faces are because of they were asked to act cool. I love ayu's outfit definitely, she looks gorgeous but it does remind me of the black version of the bunny outfit. the only thing that is lacking for me is ayu doesn't dance much, wish she could dance much more, even though her dance isn't the best.

Why... PV 5/5
This PV is absolutely my fave, it's the BEST among the FIVE because it has very CLEAR theme of what the PV is about, yea Alice in the wonderland, even it's not very original but i love it has concept. love the scene where ayu lying down with the butterflies covering her eyes also the part where the butterflies covering her body n she woke up wearing the butterfly outfit, that's very gorgeous mini dress! and JUNO is so handsome on the PV, i love the way he kind of whispering on her ears and ayu couldn't see him, it seems. The weird ladies are totally very creepy, the way she walked, not funny for me but strange + creepy. The rose room is so beautiful because it's pink haha.

beloved PV 4/5
when i first DL-ed the video, i thought i was downloading the wrong file with wrong codec or something, because it's almost all black and white scenes throughout the end and i found it's boring even though i really adore the scenery they using, i wonder which beach they went to. and the scene in the studio..hmm it's actually quite random and not suitable with the beach scenes, it looks like she's filming for some fashion ADs, it's actually unnecessary even though she looks extremely stunning, gorgeous, just perfect. and actually i wish the black and white scenes could be lessen n probably when ayu walks along the beach, each of the sceneries/backgrounds could start to get colored like they did at almost end of the video. so what this PV has to get me give 4 out of 5 is the message in the end, where ayu standing with the children and raising their hands to the sky, n the under the same sky message, that's simply wonderful and touching, i did cry! Ayu does listen to the fans' wish!

BRILLANTE PV 4/5
last but not least, BRILLANTE! at first i was quite disappointed bcoz the song was not an upbeat song because how the PV looked like in ViVi magazine pictures. but after few time listen to it, it grows on me so much, it plays inside my head like every time lols, it's liked it giving spell to me XD. so i was curious of how the PV gonna look like. so, ayu's appearance is gorgeous and sexy even though it reminds me of wonder woman lol. then the scene of the men showering with undies n ayu dancing, i found it so so so sexy, then it comes to the boxing arena scene, n ayu is walking in, omg that feels so weird, ayu looks like a cosplayer randomly come into the boxing arena, it'd be better if they could turn the boxing arena into some kind of a dungeon, full of Egyptian warriors doing some fight scenes (gladiators-theme perhaps?) instead of modern boxers to match with ayu's appearance as the queen of egypt? then the scene of ayu sitting on her throne and the men trying to reach her til she is dead with blood teary eyes, that's perfect.
and i agree that Timmy may have been a great composer and choir-vocalist, his acting of chanting is way too overreact haha. i laughed at some of his scenes.

so my rank goes: Why... > ANother song > BRILLANTE > beloved > progress

ruixiong89 28th August 2011 03:49 PM

Oh to add on! I'm glad she left all her dancers out of the spotlight this time. I mean seriously, they've been taking up so much of her limelight and bringing her PVs down, it's time to get Ayu back into the centre stage!

Jwiz 28th August 2011 03:54 PM

Was expecting 2 or at least 1 awesome pv but none of them made the cut :(

Decent: Beloved, Why and ANother song (boring but at least ayu looked stylish in it :P)
Disastrous: progress (awesome song, pv was badly put across), Brillante (ew much?)

amorphose 28th August 2011 05:37 PM

progress :: I really love the song and I think the concept for the PV is cool. There's just a few things I think could've been different and it could've been a little bit better than it was, but I'm not complaining. I love the shots in the beginning where it's just here with the red string tied around her wrist.

ANother song feat. URATA NAOYA :: This song >>> Dream ON! While it's got a simple PV I really like the style of the whole thing. I think Urata looks quite good and I think Ayu looks awesomee! I enjoyed this PV too and thought it fit well with the song.

Why... feat. JUNO :: Song is pretty cool; I kind of like the hidden remix better than the original. This was the PV I was most excited for though because of the Alice and Wonderland theme but it didn't really turn out anything like I hoped it would. It wasn't bad though, just not like I wanted it. Did anyone else think that there were totally references to Mirrorcle World (with the butterflies) and Ladies Night (with those creepy women?)

beloved :: I'm assuming this is a fan-inspired PV? A WORLD IS ONE kind of thing? That's sweet.. haha It looks a little overkill at the end though with the mob of children and color surrounding her. I think this was my least favorite PV of all five.

BRILLANTE :: W..t..f? :laugh I LOVE this song and being honest, I really think the PV is cool too! I'm confused though... as to why this PV is the way it is? xD I'm gonna need to read someone's interpretation of this PV for sure. haha Either Ayu thinks she's New Age Jesus or she's just really starting to get ~weird~

*hearT_Place*, what a fantastic interpretation about BRILLANTE! I wish I had something intelligent to say to contribute more but nah, I think you got the whole thing pretty much nailed. Well, the storyline the PV implicates can't be far anyway. You know the fact that all the guys were bulky wrestlers seemed just random eyecandy or something at first but with your explanation it makes a lot of sense. More posts like yours here at AHS please! :)

-progress- 4/5
Very creative and "internationally". While watching the video I couldn't stop but to think "I wonder how much does it take to film this??" Though it's simple... it has variety of views (Tokyo and I think... America?? idk)
-Why...- 5/5
I like this video compare to all the PV from FIVE mini album. Why??? Because it's very interesting!!! and it have AWESOME effects!!! I like the flowers room and at the end of the video the butterflies (I think... it might be leaves. HEY! I watched it in LQ) gathers around the dry tree branches to create Ayu!! AWESOME!!!
-ANother song- 2/5
Hmm... I don't even know where to start... The song alone is great!! but the video is worst than "Why..." WTH?!?!!! I do NOT like it ><
-beloved- 4/5
Simple, black and white... it reminds me of HEAVEN a little... I like it though ^^ fits with the song!!!
-BRILLANTE- 1/5
OMFG!!!!! WTF!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! WORST PV THROUGHOUT THE ALBUM!!!!!! For the first minute into the video, I thought it was a Men's Shower Shampoo commercial. And the lady that's next to Ayu... DANG!! She sounds like a MEN!! (JK JK I know it's not her voice but dang!!) OVERALL the video is a WTF!!!!! Please tell me there's a story behind this so I could give it a better grade cause it makes no sense whatsoever.

SORRY if I sound harsh but that's my personal opinion ^^

The lady IS a man. That's Timmy, the composer, and that is his voice.

truehappiness 28th August 2011 10:08 PM

There's a lengthy analysis [or two] of the PV in the BRILLANTE thread. And maybe a few here too.

http://www.ahsforum.com/forum/showpo...9&postcount=53 <-- the one from this thread

Ayu videos really seem to keep people thinking (well, the ones with that intention, lol.) and usually, I think people are pretty much on the money with their interpretations. Not sure about that one Mirrorcle World one a while back though...

Beauty4123 29th August 2011 12:49 AM

progress: totally did not expect a PV like that, lol. at first i wasn't sure it i liked it, since it's pretty different for ayu. but after watching a few more times, i've come to really like it. the song's still great. :D

Why...: my most favorite PV of FIVE. i just loved the concept & the whole PV was just done so beautifully. i liked ayu in that flower room, and how that model was big at first, then she became small, and ayu became big. it was just such a lovely PV! i love it so much. :heart

beloved: such a beautiful PV. :love you know, when i was like 2 minutes into the PV & it was still black and white, i was like..."was the PV edited or something?". :laugh then when the color came in, i'm like "ohhhh here it is!", haha. but anyway, again, i loved the concept of the PV. those solo shots of ayu were just stunning! and those kids were so cute. it was a really cute PV and the message of it is beautiful, as well. :)

ANother song: i still don't like the song, but it's grown a bit more of me, i think. the PV was pretty nice, though. i think the only part i didn't like was those dancers, though. i just felt like it was out of place, since ayu & naoya weren't even dancing or anything. :P

BRILLANTE: i was taken aback at how "interesting" this PV was, lol. i didn't know what to think after i first watched it. i liked it, but i wasn't sure if i loved it. but then just after one more watch, i'm like "...wow. this PV (and song) really is amazing!". it was interesting to see all those half naked men, haha. i loved ayu's look, and i think her & timmy work well together. the ending freaked me out, though. i didn't expect ayu to "die" at the end (she did die, right? that's how i interpreted it because ayu had a blood tear coming from her eye. was she just crying or something? :P). but still, it was such a 'brilliant' PV! :D

TeamAyu2004 29th August 2011 01:22 AM

this may be dumb, but who is Timmy??? I mean he composed the song, but has he done anything else??

lol... im so lost!

Andrenekoi 29th August 2011 01:32 AM

^The "girl" with Ayu in BRILLANTE is Timmy

TeamAyu2004 29th August 2011 01:34 AM

^ i read that, but I cant seem to find any other information on him... like what he's done and what not... if I google Timmy, it gets lots of stuff.. lol

truehappiness 29th August 2011 01:57 AM

He was a MySpace musician beforehand. He was also featured on NHK World's Imagine-nation as a host.

I've seen that show a few times so it's weird now that he's a part of Ayu's staff ,lol.

TeamAyu2004 29th August 2011 01:59 AM

lol... I found his full name and found a youtube page with some of his covers... apparently he was just an ayumi fan!
He's one of those youtube stars... lol

MemorialAddress 29th August 2011 02:35 AM

I only watched BRILLANTE since I don't like any of the other songs / don't watch videos for songs I don't enjoy :shrug
But anyway, I really liked the BRILLANTE video! It was really odd but a good sort of odd. Ayu looked great but all those random men... wtf was it, a brothel? :laugh

progress 4.5/5
At first I was a bit surprised by this PV. It didn't even feel like a professional musicvideo, more like a youtube-fanmade one. BUT it's really interesting and not so usual from her.

Why... 4.5/5
Yay for her strange PVs! Are my favorites :D. Why... it's highly influenced by Alice in Wonderland. But, it's not the unoriginal PV with playing cards, rabbits and cheshire cats. Ayu and JUNO looks lovely together as when they're singing imo. Love the last part when she's walking to the tree.

beloved 3.5/5
Another PV with childs. It's really cute and I like when it's changing from b/w to colors. Nothing amazing though but the last part it's great :luv2.

ANother song 2/5
No. Just no. Boring and unoriginal. She's gorgeous but Urata acts too much like a random american r'n'b dancer.

BRILLANTE 5/5
A-m-a-z-i-n-g. As for progress this is really unusual from her previous PVs. She truly looks like a queen or a egyptian goddess. She's fierce but elegant at the same time. There's something mystical and ambiguous with the Tim and Ayu scenes though. And the last part gave me goosebumps.

bondingo 29th August 2011 03:33 AM

progress: Pretty stupid to be honest. I was expecting a lot more since I like the song, but it doesnt even seem like an Ayu video.

ANother song: It's such an R&B video! The outfits and everything, the lighting and all that; I actually kinda like it. Definitely something new for Ayu, so it was cool to see. Still hate Naota being in the song though.

Why...: VERY cool. The butterfly room was clearly straight out of the Ladies Night PV, which is one of her best imo. The whole thing was very surreal and cool. Another interesting, new kind of video from Ayu.

beloved: Really boring. Total throwaway PV.

BRILLANTE: I was expecting a lot more based on the beginning, but it just kept getting a bit weirder but not better. I liked the end where she's on the throne and bleeds from her eye, and her outfit was INCREDIBLE, but I feel like it was missed potential.

yoshino 29th August 2011 07:44 AM

progress I love the last part showing Ayu. The whole part of keep moving forward (at an awesome speed!) meeting random people. I like that concept. =)

Why... feat. JUNO such a pretty pv!! All the roses and butterflies. But I don't get what the whole thing means.

ANother song is just a simple pv. I love Ayu's sexy dress! I was hoping she could dance more than just singing.

beloved I love the concept of 'under the same sky'. The whole pv just gives u
some sort of warmth. =)

BRILLANTE scares me at the end!! especially the blood tears! The whole song is mysterious and Ayu seems to be in pain and got psychoed by Timmy. I dun get why she was surrounded with the guys but the whole pv is quite cool.

So far I love BRILLANTE and progress the most ♥

yizhihenanjing 29th August 2011 07:57 AM

before i comment about the PV, i have to say that Au's PVs' amazing. It grows on me over time. Some PVs that I used to consider boring, at right mood, right time, I feel it amazing coz it gives me the specific feelings I want, for example, Sunrise/Sunset, You were, Crossroad and most of PVs in A song for XX. Therefore, for the new PVs in 5, I believe that all of them will make me love as time goes by, except ANOTHER SONG =.=

1. Progress: 7/10, at first I dont like it because I think it's not like Ayu PV at all, it's just like discovery video, lol. However, after watching it together with reading the lyrics again, I totally love it. It brings some kind of "social" feelings. It's really my feelings lots of time in my daily life when i stop moving and begin to look at thousands of people..It's hard to explain but I love the concept of this video.

2.Beloved: 6/10 I havent watched it that much and didnt really focus..I think it may grow on me over time coz im not really impressed Ayu's dress in worn out style with black and white background on the beach, which is quite boring. However, Ayu looks very beautiful and attractive in the shoot with black dress. I also like the sentence" under the same sky" at the end. However, it may not be the PV that I will watch again and again, at least for now.

3.Another song: 3/10. Basicaly I didnt like the vocal distribution of this song, Urata sings too much and Ayu's just like a back-up singer. Therefore, in the PV, Urata occupies the screen most of the time too, the concept and performance are boring, I try to suffer the bore and watch til the end with the expectation of something surprising coming up, but it disappointed me. =.=

4. Why: 9/10, the PV concept 's very beautiful and creative but Ayu's acting look strange and unnatural sometimes. Anyway, in generaql it's good PV that 's worth re-watching.

5.BRILLANTE: 8/10. Lots of people say it 's the best PV in Five, may be.. I admit it's the best in terms of concept, idea, Ayu's acting and great impression. HOWEVER, it makes me feel ...a little sick. I share room with another girl now and for sure I will not turn this video on when she's around. It makes me feel a little like porn stuff (sorry). I dont like the one next to her and hold her, im not sure male or female but that one's appearance make me feel sick =.=. The scene of man in underwear and the men's hand try to reach Ayu and pull her down....omg...I dont know what to say, sorry, it's impressive, creative but they should reduce a little. The only thing I like is the part Ayu dies with bleeding tear.

idk why brillante is such a big deal. progress is a waste of space. another song is an ok pv.

beloved and why are amazing I love them.

Yeah I don't really understand the big hype on BRILLANTE too...I mean it's a good song but I don't think it's really amazing. Oh well, guess we just have different tastes.

Well here's my opinions:

1. progress
Ugh...if I had watched the PV without first listening to progress I would've had a very hard time enjoying it as much as I do. The PV was soooooo boring & it made me really dizzy. I kind of have an issue with first person perspective when it comes to watching stuff (I can't play first person games). I almost couldn't finish the video, so that pretty much gives you an idea of what I think of it. 1/10

2. ANother song feat. URATA NAOYA
Slightly more interesting than progress, & definitely less annoying. Either way it was still pretty boring & made the song feel long (which it already is). Choreography was a little questionable at times...almost like I felt like it didn't really fit the song's atmosphere. This is pretty much on the same level as the Decision PV for me...not really much going on & plain. URATA NAOYA & Ayu looked really good in the PV but that was about it. 3/10

3. Why... feat. JUNO
Now this video was interesting! It actually made me fall in love with the song. I don't know if I totally understood what was going on, but maybe if I read the lyrics & watched it again I'd figure it out. Either way, it was not at dull or uninteresting...I really enjoyed it :yes. It was the best out of the bunch imo. 10/10

4. beloved
Hm, it was a soothing video. I think Ayu looked very elegant in it...she looked her age, but in a good way. It was mature & really showed a soft side of Ayu. I thought the children were cute in it as well. Was it amazing? No but it was pleasant to watch & it made me appreciate the song for what it is..plus I found it very touching in the end with the 'Under the Sky' :yes. 9/10

5. BRILLANTE
My oh my, the hype for this one lol. Well tbh, I didn't really get the PV :shrug...of course I hate to say it, but most of the time I just like to watch & not rack my brain to decipher the underlying themes. It wasn't a bad PV over all, but it was a little awkward at certain points how they all seemed so mesmerized by her...almost like she was the queen of wrestling or something lol. I know I'm probably way off with my interpretation but eh, whatever. It really irritated me how they kept cutting back to her in that one dude's arms...it was like WTF! Idk why it bothered me, but it just seemed stupid for some reason. I found the end pretty shocking with her dying so suddenly...It actually kind of startled me, especially when blood began running from her eyes. Over all, the PV was interesting & the guys weren't hard on the eyes either :lech. 8/10

He's one of those youtube stars... lol

oh wow really?
i'll try to search for it.
then he's one lucky fan but he got potential to be a great composer though, see , almost everyone loves BRILLANTE in AHS. and he was used to be a choir member too long time ago, he said. it's pretty cool to know that he's the one who sang those chanting parts. though it's still weird for me that he appeared on the PV with female look lols.. why don't just give him a proper male look. lols.

emi♡ 29th August 2011 11:01 AM

I thought I saw someone say that he had composed for another japanese singer too? Maybe thats how they met?

Might not remember correctly though.

AyUmIXx 29th August 2011 11:20 AM

Timmy got a facebook too
http://www.facebook.com/timothy.wellard?sk=photos

and seeing his pics.. he used to be styled up like drag queen before haha XDD no wonder!

Ranma Matsuri 29th August 2011 12:40 PM

Hmmm... the general consensus for the PV's are about what I expected. Still not sure if they're worth the effort to download and watch though.

panda♥ 29th August 2011 03:11 PM

progress - boring, nothing interesting about it. i really like the song and wish they would've done more with the PV.

beloved - really simple, but still elegant feeling. i liked it.

Why... - pretty to look at, and i liked the butterflies. still really lacking IMO.

ANother Song - it's weird to see Ayu in a R&B type of PV and song. XD again, kind of interesting but overall boring.

BRILLANTE - i didn't know what to think of it at first, and decided to wait to read an interpretation before having an opinion. after reading, i do appreciate the video more than i did the first time around.

her interpretation for BRILLANTE made me appreciate the video more, but it is still far from the best. i wish they would've put more time into making the PVs. IMO, all of them would've been ALOT better, but maybe they had a reason for making such simple PVs. :shrug

yizhihenanjing 29th August 2011 03:42 PM

god, I read this idea this noon in some post but i didnt care it, now im watching Progress PV again and amazing!!! All those "google-image" scenes 're actually like a collection of all sceneries in Ayu PV, it's amazing, it even includes the alse in ladies night and everything else, so amazing, how creative it is !!!

yizhihenanjing 29th August 2011 03:51 PM

let's me try to remember, the city street in rainbow, inspire, some reminds me of Curtain call and days, the railway station in heaven, the club in lady dynamite, hotel way in ladies night, the room like in because of you, western view like in love song, last angel pv, bold & delicious, some wild area like in dearest acoustic, desert like in inspire, virgin road, the highway like in next level, yeah and this is actually dearest acoustic feeling with the desert feeling and electric pole, this crowded beach makes me think of sunrise/sunset more than fairyland or surreal, blue birds,
