Concert reports
c_zou1987's report of the 08/06 show in Fukuoka

HilaryDuffFanboy 28th August 2011 02:02 PM

omg truhappiness i made this long ass post and then you closed the thread and my reply wouldnt go thru!!!!!!

i so cbf

summary: ayu is continuing her "trolling" but i dont think she is. she is just claiming her own artistry, telling her fans she can do whatever the heck she wants because it is her career, not yours. she is sick of people telling her what to do and how she shouldnt have this or that.
there is a reason why last years CDL ended with do it again, on such a sullen note, for the first time EVER. she is sick of doing **** just to please her fans who always have one complaint or another.

AyUmIXx 28th August 2011 02:05 PM

wow it's really surprising that ayu isn't the last performer like she used to be.
i really wonder why... hmm~~

ayumisrael 28th August 2011 02:33 PM

I know that ayu couldn't care less and she is probably happy for TOHOSHINKI, but it's time for alterna ~episode II~ :yes

Linoa62 28th August 2011 02:48 PM

I don't know if you already knew it (XD), but this week's concerts will be used for TV version.
From WOWOW's site.

I wonder if they'll use them too for the DVD?

BlackSilence 28th August 2011 03:04 PM

I'm so surprised to know that GACKT stood on the same stage Ayu did, at this years a-nation O_O the band he's in - YFC was a secret guest :thud

secretly wishing for them to perform together one day :D

I think they always use final concerts... for TV and DVD

Key ~eternal tie~ 28th August 2011 05:05 PM

Whaaaa? Gackt was there?! I really hope to see it on the DVD!

Does Ayu always end A-nation? I know that the last few years Ayu always finishes it off though.

tokyoxjapanxfan 28th August 2011 05:54 PM

I actually liked having Ayu not be last. I could leave early for once! Getting out of a-nation is -horrid-

But there were still so many people who left after Ayu xD It was nice to see not -everyone- was there for Tohoshinki :P

freedreamer 28th August 2011 05:57 PM

^LOL!!!! can i say awwww to that :)

I don't care if she is not the last performer on a-nation

she sings the most and all of her performance will be on DVD
and yeah don't forget her ship.

It's Ayu-Nation anyway. lol

How can someone NOT like them performing together?

a_kingdom21 29th August 2011 04:07 AM

ayu isnt the last performer...
ugh...
i dont get it why avex did that...
bring back the queen.....

Kazeyomi 29th August 2011 04:29 AM

^
uhm, is really that important if she perform last? :shrug

a_kingdom21 29th August 2011 04:43 AM

^^
yup..that's is important for me at least...
lol
i heard some where that being the last performer in japanese show is a pride for an artist n showing the prominence...

we used to watch her as the last performer since the anation starts...
n now it's replaced all in sudden...

Jester 29th August 2011 06:06 AM

^
so she was opening act in Kouhaku for 4 years (correct me if i'm wrong)
so it' doesn't matter as long as she gives us a WOW performances ^^

revolution9292 29th August 2011 06:15 AM

i wouldn't mind ayu not being the last performer for a-nation. but this year is a-nation 10th anniversary. shouldn't they give ayu some face and let her be the last artist to perform for the 10th time?
and i really want to watch July 1st performance now since she is not performing alone!

she's being opening act becoz of CDL schedule if im not wrong..

MissElin_ 29th August 2011 10:33 AM

I think it was the long schedule of PCDL that kicked her to the opening act instead.

But yeah, it doesn't matter much. Although it does give an impression of Ayu "letting go". She said before she have felt like a mother of a-nation since she's been there from the start. Maybe she's giving away her last place in the spotlight to other artists due of mother-like feelings... :P

AyUmIXx 29th August 2011 11:16 AM

^ that's what i thought too.
oh well, what's done is done. maybe Ayu wanna rush back home earlier so she asked for a switch haha XD

Tom Punks 29th August 2011 01:35 PM

The. Queen.

ayumisrael 29th August 2011 01:59 PM

Definitely, queen is understatement for her.

and Yes, it's wierd that a-nation doesn't end with July 1st/Boys & Girls. They are the best songs of all the performed a-nation songs to close a-nation or summer or a summer show.

Btw, THNX A LOT! is dead or something? no all a-nation artists song at the end? xD

ExodusUK 29th August 2011 02:30 PM

Ayu being not last is a publicity stunt by Avex, they know the amount of Korean entertainment in Japan is a hot topic so putting them over the queen of Jpop will generate a lot of discussion and debate in the press. Beside maybe Ayu had to go somewhere.

YUKARI 29th August 2011 02:34 PM

she was the last performer for all shows except August 28, right? I think we should not worry, if it was only time :think

it would be an issue, if she wasn't the last performer for all the shows.

YUKARI 29th August 2011 05:50 PM

SunshineSlayer 29th August 2011 06:27 PM

I could see Avex putting X-Japan last instead of Ayu. But anything other than that just doesn't make sense.

Very cool though that X, Gackt, and Ayumi all performed at the same show.

Wrong. Her whole existence in show business is based on whether people like what she's doing or not. If she'd react like you describe it (and in my opinion she luckily is not behaving the way you put it here) she would be stubborn like a little child.

She's here to please. She gets well paid for it too. If she doesn't pleases, she'd most likely disappear like other famous pop stars, that were on the top of the charts for years, did in the past.

Let's be realistic.

My thoughts exactly. THAT would have been a worthy closer in place of Ayu. It makes the fact that TVXQ closed even more mind-boggling.

ExodusUK 29th August 2011 07:42 PM

X-Japan are on EMI, Avex wouldn't give top billing to their festival to a non-Avex act no matter who it is.

She can do whatever she wants about her music... You are assuming she is expecting to rock the charts forever while we have no idea of how does she see her career...

Matsutoya Yumi and tons of other popular musicians all over the world already did something similar and guided their careers by what they felt like doing...

Ayumi doesn't need more money... there's no record on the Japanese industry left for her to break... I wouldn't be surprised if FIVE was the begining of an Ayu that doesn't care about her fans or the industry or the media expectations...

---

About she not closing A-Nation... it can be a lot of different things, from fall on her prestige to schedule conflict (both hers and Tohoshinki's)

While that's all nice and true, it's her fans who got her where she is, she is able to have all the freedom because so many people liked her music at some point. And only time will tell if everything she does will do her good or not.

Except, she recently mentioned on twitter that she DOESN'T have the freedom that all you guys keep saying she does. The top hats at Avex told her no to something on the setlist, and she couldn't perform the setlist that she wanted. I don't think that's the definition of freedom.

njanjayrp 29th August 2011 08:43 PM

^ It seems that JUNO was originally not allowed to perform, I am not even sure how she got him to sing with her at all.

Yeah, I have to agree with this. Look at Love songs. I find it hard to believe that Ayu was working with TK because she wanted to when he obviously owes/owed avex a LOT of money and was apparently composing songs for a bunch of artists at avex at the time.

Everything has it's limits. In the end she might be forced to switch to another label. Who knows.

jbrat2219 29th August 2011 09:49 PM

I don't think it's that Ayu completely doesn't care what fans want I just don't think it is a powerful factor in her decision making when it comes to her music and/or her performances.

Yoake 29th August 2011 10:08 PM

Hey people, do you think it's really for this reason she's not the last performer? I mean, since the start of the a-nation she has this tracklist & avex said her something only for the last show? Excuse me, but I think there is another reason! & avex don't want that reason spread!

Tom Punks 29th August 2011 10:11 PM

It's in the Twitter thread. avex wanted Ayu to change the set list (I'm guessing to get rid of Naoya) and she refused so she wasn't going to perform at Tokyo. Then they made a deal that she could keep her set list if she let THSK go after her. Well, that's what it seems like at least.

Mirrorcle Monster 29th August 2011 10:15 PM

If FIVE is the beginning of Ayu doing what she wants those are the last days of my ayu fandom

truehappiness 29th August 2011 10:22 PM

I think FIVE was a mix of what Ayu wanted to do and what avex wanted (a release)~

I personally think it's a step in the right direction, but she just needs to get her foot out of the medium tempo pothole.

As for what Ayu wants and what fans want... isn't one of the reasons why a lot of people love Ayu because she does what she wants (to the best of her ability anyway, definitely not the case with avex-nation vs. ayu-nation) and takes risks even if they might not be smart ones? It might seem a bit stubborn, but I think her unwavering determination or whatever you might call it is one of the reasons for her success in the last 13-14 years.

Yes, her fans are her customers and in the end they are the ones who will decide her 'fate' in the industry, but at the same time I don't think she has to heed fans' every word so long as she is simply being honest to herself and creating work that she believes is good. The minute that Ayu creates something just for the sake of pleasing fans (dedicating =/= pleasing) would put her down a few pegs in my book as that is something I doubt she has ever done during her career.

I hope ANother song isn't what Ayu wanted, as that would be everything, but what I consider the RIGHT direction :) The rest of the songs aren't really new direction wise.

truehappiness 29th August 2011 10:33 PM

They aren't, but I don't think it was an attempt to step into new territory for Ayu. I don't really think she's done that with any of her albums with the exception of NEXT LEVEL anyway, and that didn't exactly fare so well. (when it was released anyway)

On the topic of a-nation, I wonder how the DVD is going to be divided up since there are a LOT of high profile artists this time around...

Mirrorcle Monster 29th August 2011 10:34 PM

^^ Its not because of the songs, I guess I explained it bad. I always loved ANother Song and Why... is beautiful. I also think that seeing Ayu collaborate with other artists is refreshing. Is just that there is always some drama around her, she has an attitude that I don't like. And her new songs hardly have the feeling that they used to

njanjayrp 29th August 2011 10:38 PM

^ Oh well xD It's alright then.

That's how I feel as well.

Hmm I am guessing only the avex artists will remain and the rest we'll prolly never see?

Mai82Go 29th August 2011 10:43 PM

The reasons for her being only second to last sound more serious than I thought. And somehow it makes my love for Ayu even stronger (if that's even possible) ! I support her through the bad and good times. Go Ayu!

I totally agree.

There's been drama around Ayu for aaaaaaaaaaggggees, lol. I think it was just normally overshadowed by her constant releases in the past so it didn't seem as bad. Her attitude IMO, is probably appropriate for what's been going on. You can't really expect -Ayu- to be submissive towards avex, right? She's going to put up a fight as she always does.

And about that feeling... I think that really depends on the listener. I feel like most of her songs have that timeless quality (well, since LOVEppears maybe since ASFXX is stuck in the 80s despite being released in the 90s) and have always been rather good songs but sometimes by comparison to her own music, she doesn't measure up which is understandable since she set a REALLY high bar for herself.

Doesn't Ayu own a large percentage of avex's stock? I doubt she would change lables if she did seeing as she is till one of their top artists.

truehappiness 30th August 2011 12:54 AM

Oh, it appears that Why... in the finale was Urata's version, not JUNO's.

KuuXAyu-fan 30th August 2011 01:19 AM

I am super confused can anyone please explain? Why the hell is Ayu switching labels even being considered? Has something happened? lol

SURREAL__RAINBOW 30th August 2011 01:23 AM

I'd love if she switched labels, avex ruins its artists most of the time.

Anyway yeah, what's happening now? lol

It's not. I have no idea how that came about.

prussian blue 30th August 2011 02:17 AM

one of the video is set to be private, is there any download link for that?

truehappiness 30th August 2011 02:37 AM

I think it was set to not private for like a day and then... yeah, lol.

Aderianu probably has a copy.

Misa-chan 30th August 2011 04:27 AM

Where's all this "fans hate ayu's new work" coming from? I think it's mostly just the same few on AHS stirring up drama again, because if Twitter is any proof, most Japanese fans adore FIVE, especially the collab songs.

The only dissatisfaction that I see comes from a-nation. Even so, most of the reviews from Twitter are good, it's just that ayu herself seems kinda agitated(not sure if that's the right word) over some issue, judging from her recent TA entries.

YUKARI 30th August 2011 04:31 AM

^yeah, it seems like she's not in good mood nowadays. even the album itself sounds quite dark..

Bigtop 30th August 2011 05:08 AM

If Ayu wants to switch labels, she should not go to Sony, but I think, in my personal opinion, For Life Music Entertainment (FLME)...?

Aderianu 30th August 2011 07:36 AM

20110829 doesn't work? yes, I have it... will upload later

This isn't the first time avex is having guest artist perform at a-nation, correct me if I'm wrong, but the DVD has never contained all the avex artists performances let alone the guest ones.

rusuke 30th August 2011 08:05 AM

I don't get the mentality why some people have issues of Ayu not performing the last part. She's been performing last - I think almost every a-nation festival (Or so I know) since the beginning. This makes me sad.

Anyway, Urata and Ayu are so cute together! Love it!

Ayu is so sexy with her gold outfit!

erika_ayu 30th August 2011 08:25 AM

damn it, I would rather see her performing with JUNO than Urata ToT

Minttulatte 30th August 2011 10:59 AM

I don't understand why Ayu fans are so hurt because she didn't perform last. I don't see any problem with it even if Ayu is a legendary artist. Does she really need to be the last performer year after year anyway? Haven't she been the last one since the first a-nation anyway? And if she had an argument with avex that almost told her not to perform, you should just be happy she did. It would be sad if they didn't let her to do that (and I can't even imagine what a reaction that would have btw...).

I don't mean to sound offensive to anyone but I just don't get it, like, at all because Ayu will probably be the last performer on a-nation '12 again. At least I think so. :)

truehappiness 30th August 2011 11:03 AM

They didn't tell her not to perform, she felt like she shouldn't. But because she had fans/staff/etc. supporting her, she decided to go on, though she ended up deciding to perform next to last.

I think knowing the circumstances now, it's not as "bad" since she'll be last next year probably.

Yeah, but There is something else behind the fact that avex want her to change her setlist!! If it was only the fan, avex'll do it immidiately & not only for the last show!
