[Yahoo japan] ドタキャンあゆに厳罰 エイベックス「示しつかない」

Sorry if this has been posted but I couldn't see it but I saw this on facebook which is a translated from a yahoo japan article. Poor ayu getting punished for being sick :(

http://headlines.yahoo.co.jp/hl?a=20...7-spnannex-ent

theirs also this news paper article but i only have a picture

Hamasaki Ayumi (32), who cancelled her appearance on TV Asahi’s “Music Station”‘s 25th Anniversary Special Program on the 16th, returned to Japan from Los Angele's from the night of the 17th. Though Hamasaki offered “a deep apology”, her company avex has taken a stance that punishment is inevitable, stating that she will be “dealt with harshly”.

Regarding the reason for the last-minute cancellation, MSta and avex both put out that it was because “her body was weak after contracting acute pharyngitis, so she could not board the flight back”. On the 12th, 4 days before the program, Hamasaki complained that she felt ill. On top of that, the “special privilege” of closing the program, which she thought was hers, was given to AKB48 instead. Hamasaki was insulted, and openly expressed her unhappiness to her staff.

However, this problem with performance order “could have been easily solved”, according to a MSta staff. What became a problem with the program was the reality that she “could not fly back in time”. Even though Hamasaki claimed to have been searching for flights back with all her might, suspicions from some TV staff still abound: “Did she really want to come back?”

YUKARI 18th September 2011 03:14 PM

I just hate how they say she was insulted to perform before AKB! sure it wasn't the case, cause she's smart enoug to understand what's going to happen if she doesn't perform at all!

rusuke 18th September 2011 03:26 PM

WoW! just wow!

I was the one insulted on how they want Ayu to look being insulted and was unhappy about AKB.
OK. I really don't know what Ayu really felt that time but all we know is that ayu's ill and can't get a flight back home. These writers are just sick!

AyUmIXx 18th September 2011 03:36 PM

i absolutely doubted ayu would feel insulted that AKB performed the last.
i think ayu doesn't even care who perform last.
see, she didn't even care if she perform 2nd last for a-nation.
if she really care to perform last, she wouldn't care anything at all about JUNO.

this article is the most ridiculous one.

njanjayrp 18th September 2011 04:02 PM

This is a very sad example of how they're trying to attract their readers. A few years ago I might've even believed **** like this, but we've been all reading Ayu's tweets and TA posts and even though we don't know her in person it's pretty much safe to say that it doesn't seem like something she would say. Plus she rarely gets to close any of the shows...so yeah I doubt she'd ever complain about something as trivial as that.

WTF!!!! They act like it was her fault for being sick!!
That's not fair!!!!!!!!!!!

and so what if she didn't want to go back.

noola chan 18th September 2011 04:34 PM

This is so harsh !! why would they punish her for being sick ?
this is not something that she can control !
and what this stupid reason that the writer gave !!

poor ayu :(

Bigtop 18th September 2011 04:53 PM

I'm not sure about this, but this Ayu-MS absence that what I'm seeing appears to be looking more of a scandal than just a problem...?

RayJason 18th September 2011 05:10 PM

I hate avex.

L.... 18th September 2011 05:13 PM

OMG, punish ayu because she is sick and unable to attend MS?? whats wrong with avex! this is getting too ridiculous already! is not like she wanted to be sick at that time! i know fans are disappointed of her absence, but they cant blame her for being sick and unable to get back on time! ARGH! really hope ayu get well soon.

asmAyumi1992 18th September 2011 05:21 PM

If the punishment is to make her not perform, I can deal with it. Because it's the time for Ayu to rest herself :yes

ExodusUK 18th September 2011 05:47 PM

I'm so stressed out over this, I can't imagine how Ayu is feeling..

yeah, that part seemed a little out of place. In fact, this whole ~article seemed pretty hodgepodge.

joshohhhhh 18th September 2011 06:20 PM

lol they make it sound as if she became ill on purpose. they talk of chastising her like a child. ridiculous.

noisy_harmony 18th September 2011 06:40 PM

Drama llama. They surely used AKB48 name to to attract attention.

Poor Ayu. And from now I'm just going to ignore this stupid company called avex.

brener 18th September 2011 07:33 PM

i told u guyz japanese media would turn this into a scandalous thing --' theyre s*hit

ayu_ready? 18th September 2011 07:43 PM

If I was Ayu I'd also be insulted to be substituted for AKB 48
no offense to their fans, but I really hate them and see nothing spectacular, just another bunch of forgettable cute kawaii girls the names of which I won't rememeber because there have been so much like them every single freaking year. they do sell much though but I don't care, all these groups are so the same, instead of having like one amazing powerful talented diva-artists we get these girls all over, heck.

anyway, truth or not...it's sad. this year seems to be bad for Ayu??I mean the a-nation thing and then this thing...it's worse than Koda's "fluid" case, even like that, God :(
AYU KEEP IT UP I LOVE SO MUCH ;)

Japanese entertainment system is really harsh. the worst thing is that she's sick physically, and I hope she won't be mentally drained because of the case. because it's horrible to be depressed and be sick at the same time, gosh

butterfly_ayu 18th September 2011 08:24 PM

this became headline news? o.0 i didn't know it was that big of a deal. it's ridiculous that ayu would be punished for this.

You mad? :innocent

Anyway.....the article is clearly bogus to the point that its funny. You guys should know better, considering there have been worse rumors about Ayu in the past. I can't believe people take this seriously.

ayumisrael 18th September 2011 09:04 PM

lol, that whole article is funny rather than annoying or anything.
Non of it is true, unless if ayu got around US just to make people think that they searched for a flight.

emi♡ 18th September 2011 09:06 PM

Welcome to Japan? :/

If any of this is true, it's not THAT surprising. Ayu's had to issue apologies before because people got mad at her for reasons beyond her control.

but I think that this issue would have been dealt with by Avex with a lot more discretion. I've never known Avex to speak publicly about anything like this, in this way.

They're not going to say "oh she was sick" and then turn around and say "we're going to punish her." That's just stupid. Something, somewhere is getting lost in translation, or there is a miscommunication.

OR, this is just a bunch of tabloid lies.

AyumiBest 18th September 2011 09:08 PM

Wow...just wow...

Mai82Go 18th September 2011 10:46 PM

Oh, the Ayu-hater girl on arama is back. I wondered where she had gone. This whole thing is so funny - especially the AKB48 mention. Are they afraid people wouldn't read if AKB48 are not involved? And Ayu is not the one performing last on most Music Station episodes. *tired*

Tabloid lies. We already know Ayu wouldn't really care about who took her place on Music Station; more relieved than anything that they found an artist/band to replace her that will get as much love for performing. I don't believe Avex will 'punish' her either. She was over there doing her work, has got ill, with Avex workers. Is as much lies as the Ayu vs AKB48 crap was, so just more tabloid stuff to get readers and feed the 'scandal' whilst it lasts. And hey, it's obviously worked. :laugh There's no real story here, so that's why so many places are creating up these things.

Violently Happy 18th September 2011 11:14 PM

I feel so bad for Ayu... :(

sesshy 18th September 2011 11:26 PM

I call b.s. on this. :/ Ridiculous, but not surprising coming from tabloids.

YUKARI 18th September 2011 11:37 PM

stupid tabloids!! >.<' they just want to attrack attention using ayu and AKB48, arggh!

uhm, nope. They're completely different 'scandals'. And to be honest, Koda's one was much worse compared to this (and I'm not a Kuu hater though lol I really like her).

Anyway this is just gossip rubbish imo. I wouldn't take it that seriously.
Although it's quite annoying that after a-nation mess, they comes up with this crap now. BUT FIVE sales are not affected by this neither lol.
The only thing that concerned me about this article, it's her health. I hope she will get well soon :/

douggn 19th September 2011 12:21 AM

Tabloids lie to sell there storys but there is some truth with started the story but anyways we should show our support to ayu and complain to avex on twitter or something on how harsh they are to ayu, show we wont let our diva be bullied :P

TITANIC 19th September 2011 12:32 AM

its just the writer too exaggerated in writing the article. i doubt avex will punish her being sick and unable to attend. really doubtful.

C+R+E+AYUMI 19th September 2011 07:45 AM

Anyway Ayu said they couldn't get a flight back and now Avex claims she couldn't attend because of her illness..someone doesn't want to face up its own responsabilities? I mean,if an artist cannot respect its schedule it's totally a management problem.

freedreamer 19th September 2011 08:31 AM

this is totally weird.
knowing Ayu, if she was slightly unwell, she would still push on with her performance. See that independent live years ago, see all the times when her arm was injured, knee injured. DOME tour.

Sometimes i even wonder that avex may even try to save their pride and not let Ayu, who may not sing well, on stage...zzzz
see how these assumptions just conjure and it spreads like the fact.

argh

Stupid Avex.

ayumisrael 19th September 2011 01:52 PM

avex is not going to do anything to her so don't worry.
when kuu had her scandal they stopped her activities but ayu's rehearsing for the last segments of PoM tour these very days.
It's just a lie of the news.

panda♥ 19th September 2011 01:58 PM

i really, really doubt Avex will "punish her harshly" for being SICK and cancelling for her own well being. i think the only reason this is made out to be a big deal by tabloids, is because she was overseas when she cancelled and was sick, so i guess people are assuming she didn't want to come back and was making excuses?

how can a singer properly SING with an inflamed throat? if she were to have not cancelled and made it to the show while being sick, there would be an uproar about how bad she sounded. :shrug

It's just a lie of the news.

IMO, Koda's activities stopping was more a move to preserve her image than a punishment...

It wouldn't be very good for her, and for the brands she was promoting, to see her everywhere when everyone wanted her head...

Jason 19th September 2011 08:28 PM

I stopped taking it seriously when I read Avex said she would be dealt with "harshly". As much as I despise that company they wouldn't be stupid to make such a public statement about something like this.

And Ayu was "insulted" that AKB48 took her spot? :P This is why I hate tabloid news. It's an insult to journalism everywhere -_-

Hamasaki discreetly returns to Japan

ENTERTAINMENT SEP. 20, 2011 - 05:15AM JST ( 3 )TOKYO —
Singer Ayumi Hamasaki, 32, who was conspicuously absent from the 25th anniversary special of TV Asahi’s “Music Station” last Friday night, discreetly returned to Japan from Los Angeles on Sunday night.

Hamasaki disembarked from the plane wearing dark shades and a large surgical mask over her face. According to a spokesperson for Hamasaki, a calendar shoot that the singer was scheduled to appear in was delayed in LA, and she apparently contracted laryngitis shortly after that, forcing her agent to reschedule her return flight and cancel her appearance on the special.

If you're gonna publish something, at least publish something that has some semblance to the truth.

It's talking about what the tabloids are talking about, and brings up the issue that actually Ayu was against AKB48 performing on MSTE, and that Avex released a comment like "If we are not strict with the punishment for this issue, then it's not good for her juniors and other artists." Etc. etc.

SunshineSlayer 20th September 2011 01:59 AM

I'm not surprised at all really. The Japanese are really this anal. Not even just where celebrities are concerned, I mean in general. If you miss a commitment due to illness, you better be on your death bed here. Also, I can see where suspicions would come from as to why she wasn't able to get a flight because even I'm not sure why Avex couldn't have just hired a private jet.

Also, about these being "tabloids". The articles that they showed in that TV broadcast are from major newspapers. Major newspapers in Japan commonly report this kind of stuff.

TeamAyu2004 20th September 2011 02:19 AM

^... I find that pretty interesting in general they way the Japanese news acts... If you thought American news reports and what not were bad, just look at them.

My history Professor (of Japanese history) showed us all these clips and newspaper articles about the way the press and tabloids treat people and I find it amazing... I don't know why anyone would want to be famous over in Japan... the hassle... :no

oh okay. I honestly wasn't sure, because I know that the Japanese act this way about missing appointments and performances and stuff, and this is certainly not the first time Ayu has gotten a lot of bad press for missing something, but I didn't know like, the real source, if it was just like a tabloid, or if it was being widely reported or whatever. So thanks for clearing that up

And you know, people aren't going to like this, but this is the culture. And it does look bad on her, and Avex, to them.

It is a bit odd she couldn't get one. Perhaps Avex was angry at her for some reason. Maybe she hadn't contacted them? idk. I haven't been following her news.

I think the AKB48 comments are all really unnecessary though.

Andrenekoi 20th September 2011 02:40 AM

^Yeah, when Namie's mom was murdered, for example, there where some pretty disgusting news about it... Cruel, even... So, not surprised some vehicles are blowing this out of proportion, even worst that some media have a strong dislike for her (Japan Times, for example, acts as Ayu is the symbol for everything they dislike about Japan)... Still, doubt will be harshly punished or banned... And even if that's happen.... There's other shows on japanese tv

But actually tabloid doesn't have the bad meaning it does in America. Most newspapers in Japan that report on celebrity news can be called tabloids because of their format.

Regardless, I was wondering about the private jet too. She had one when she went to Las Vegas, so... what happened?

And what is she doing now? No twitter, nothing... what's going on?

Andrenekoi 20th September 2011 03:09 AM

If fashion week really was one of the problems, considering the amount of people that needed to be in NY for the event, maybe there where no way to rent a private jet... She should consider buying one at this point of her career

cosmicfirefly 20th September 2011 03:48 AM

They tried too hard to make her look bad here. Did they seriously expect her to sing with laryngitis?

emi♡ 20th September 2011 05:00 AM

^she could have lip-synced :shrug I don't think it's THAT big a deal to the producers...if other artists do it...why not?

Misa-chan 20th September 2011 05:48 AM

I felt that the main problem was that she did not cancel in time. Up to the day itself, she kept insisting that she's trying her best to get back, so there was no news sent back about any cancellation till the afternoon of the day itself. We have to remember that all the talk about her being sick, fainting and not being able to come back were all written on TA, so the first time the rest of the world had known about the whole issue was on the afternoon right before MSta, when she released the cancellation apology straight. So I can see why non-TA people and the media jumped to whatever conclusions they made.

I don't think she would have allowed herself to do that, since she's been going on about wanting to perform beloved for days and days before the show.

Also, she had written on TA that she caught a cold and potentially a sore throat. If she did lip-sync and sung perfectly, won't that cause more chaos among fans since we knew that she couldn't have sung well?

truehappiness 20th September 2011 05:50 AM

When she was in Vegas, I think Max was also with her during that trip?

Right now she's working on POWER of MUSIC stuff, I think? I guess she's probably putting everything into the 9/30 show for now.

Actually, a lot of these articles are citing AKB48 as the reason why she didn't go on MUSIC STATION.

AyUmIXx 20th September 2011 08:46 AM

ayu keeps on updating her weibo.. i think she is still sick..not really better yet..
but she's doing rehearsal for POM though.

she have yet to update her twitter though.. it might upset some fans

Ayu_Love 20th September 2011 06:11 PM

I love the politeness in Japan, but dear god I hate it when if you make the slightest mistake, not even of your own fault sometimes, japan's news will just jump on you and point the finger like you've done the worst thing ever and deserve to be punished. :/ I mean, even with Koda's scandal (which I noticed had been brought up), she didn't intentionally mean to hurt people at all. And I didn't find it offensive at all. She was just trying to help her manager decide when to have her baby by stating what she thought was a scientific fact. And of course tabloids and people who dislike Koda, used this chance to write hell about it. She had to make a public apology, and was demanded to explain why she said it on TV (or she offered), cancelled all of her promotions, had to apologize on her tour on stage before she performed, and then put herself into solitude for a month, as another apology. I mean, you'd never see a western artist have to do all that? You get western artists that ***** about each other all the time (Katy Perry even *****ed about one of Lee Hyori's songs not long ago), but if you did that in Japan you'd lose your head. Like someone said, it's the one thing with Japan culture that sometimes irks me. I love politeness and respect to people and your peers but there is a limit.

I really don't see how Avex could punish Ayu for not being PHYSICALLY able to catch a plane....I quite dubious as to what's truth when it comes to tabloids, and I don't really believe the AKB48 rumor either. To be honest I think Ayu was just looking forward to singing Beloved, no matter what time slot she was in. So missing her performance and being ill...she must be very bummed out. :no I hope people ignore the tabloids and Avex does not stress her out anymore than she is with punishment (considering that they already made a statement saying she was stressed), the poor woman is very ill, I don't think they would do anything to make her health even worse.

And I think I would explode with anger if I saw any tabloid being cruel about namie's mum's death. I would find that very hypocritical considering they seem to write hell about anyone who does a seemingly 'rude' comment, like koda, if they were doing it themselves. XD

(Sorry for essay, tabloids irk me, hahaha.)

(Sorry for essay, tabloids irk me, hahaha.)

You can still find some really mean articles about Namie's mom and her pregnancy on Japan Times, and in English!

^Wow, I'm not even sure I want to read those. :no I think I would just raaaaage hahaha. How can people be so cold-hearted? Makes me sad. :no Thanks for telling me, though! I might read them one day.

This writer is full of ****. Fans know Ayu's attitude.. she doesn't care who performs first, middle, last. And it's funny that these people make it seem like she got sick on purpose so she can cancel the appearance.

Ayu_Love 20th September 2011 09:48 PM

^Exactly. There were people putting rumors around that Ayu pretended to be sick because she didn't want to perform because she was furious about AKB48 being put to end the show instead of her. I mean it's just ridiculously childish. XD

This.

I'm rather undecided on this issue. Ayu is a smart woman, and she obviously wouldn't want her fan base knowing all the inside information.

For all we know, Ayu could have done this in response to being replaced by AKB. Her saying otherwise on Twitter and her fan diary doesn't mean she's being 100% honest with us. She would never tell us the truth if it meant her looking bad, that's just the smart thing to do.

And I still think it's impossible for her to not have been able to find even one flight out of JFK and LAX. They're 2 of the biggest airports in America, and she has no problem with money.

It wouldn't surprise me if the information is true, but I don't necessarily think it is. It'd be different if all this was written in tabloid magazines, like Friday, but it's in newspapers. Japanese newspapers don't usually focus on rumors. Scandals, yes. But you rarely see completely falsified information in the news (even in America, while things are often overblown, there's usually some type of truth to it).

Of course since we're all fans of Ayu we want to believe she was completely innocent, but only Ayu and Avex know the truth.

If she were to leave Avex, I wonder how things would change in her music production, videos, etc. And if she were to start her own label or something, I wonder if she would then start signing people... I'm sure that for someone to stay with the same label their entire singing career could sometimes be suffocating.

I should have elaborated. I meant in such a negative way that didn't relate to the article, their personal opinions of AKB48 were unnecessary. It was just useless AKB48 bashing.

shizukanaotoko 21st September 2011 05:24 PM

That AKB part is blasphemy lol unfortunately, according to my friends in Japan, this has become awfully big news. however most people seem to just shrug it off as an unavoidable situation, "shikata nai", because she is sick.

rakeru 21st September 2011 08:34 PM

^ THIS counts as big news? Sheesh. This has been an unnecessarily dramatic year.

Hahaha so true, why is this even getting so much attention when they could work on other things..

Tabloids want to sell stuff, they do so by namedropping famous people through their publication.

Western tabloids do this just as much. At the end of the day, it's someone's job to write articles that will bring in their pay cheque. We can say "why don't they do something productive" but that goes to everything everyone in the world does :P

Why do they write bad stories, why don't they write about provinces recovering from earthquake?
Why do they write music and sell it, why don't they give it away for free as in these times people can't afford it?
Why do you listen to music, why don't you volunteer at a soup kitchen?
Why do you only volunteer 5 hours a week, why not 25?

If you put it in perspective like that, everything anyone does could be labelled "pointless" xD But at the end of the day, Ayu's fans aren't going "omgwow she maybe doesn't like ABK48 i will set all her CDs on fire" or "I am becoming an anti now thanks to this article". In a few weeks it will likely be forgotten like Kuu's incident. If you don't take the bait and go read all those articles they'll stop writing them eventually. Your hits on the sites are probably making them want to write more on it!!

Yoake 27th September 2011 07:59 AM

I hate tabloid. & I think they always are stupid. They declare that Ayu was insulted? So where is the proof?
But fan are funny too. Avex just said that Ayu'll be punished but seriously, it's only to feed the scandal.
