JAPONESQUE vs PARTY QUEEN
Which album is better?? :yes
|
can't pick, they are too different. I like them both equally I would say, for their diversity, originality and high quality o/
|
JAPONESQUE. I love Party Queen but I think that JAPONESQUE is still better in every way. And I think that Ayu will eventually win since this is a Ayu forum so I thought I'll support my queen :D
|
japonesque
so many good songs |
Party Queen all the way!
|
This was a tough choice.. I find both albums very different from each other, so it's difficult to compare.
I voted for Japonesque simply because there are more songs I actually listen to. Even though I have my certain favourites, I like almost every song on the album. Party Queen on the other hand has lots of great songs too, but there are a few tracks I just can't stand listening to. |
I love Ayu, but Japonesque is much better

I love both albums...
which is saying somthing, because I usually dont like a major portion of Kuu's stuff, but this album was just amazing... I love ayumi and I liked almost all the songs... but... It's just too hard.... lol |
First Kuu album I only really liked one song on(which is weird, some songs have styles I love but underwhelm me as songs) vs. best Ayu album. PQ.
|
Both are amazing albums, perfect in every way. It's such a hard choice but I have to go with Party Queen. It is just something experimental and exciting for Ayu and it has songs from various genres; all of which are impressive. JAPONESQUE feels like a logical progression from her previous works- it's new for Kuu but not surprising given the direction her music has been taking the past few years. All in all, I love them both. :luv2 I listen to them both all the time.
|
Oy...they're so different so this is kind of hard for me to make a decision on.
I chose Party Queen though...I liked Kuu's new album, but there were more songs on it that I didn't care for than on PQ's. |
I didn't vote. Both albums are so different. I hate songs from both albums, and love songs from both albums. V.I.P. is my booty poppin' song, Return Road is my crying song, etc. etc.
|
PQ, obviously, lol.
|
Party Queen
|
Party Queen
|
I liked a couple of songs from Japonesque, but that's it. Overall I like Party Queen more.
|
JAPONESQUE.
Great trashy Kuu tracks ♥, (some) good ballads, catchy pop tracks and of course, No Man's Land being amazing. I like it more than everything on Party Queen! |
I think Ayu's album has better artistry, but JAPONESQUE is a lot more listenable for me, i.e. I like more songs off it.
JAPONESQUE has better covers and way better PVs, but Ayu's has better lyrics... There are just as many songs on both albums though that I found underwhelming...which means they just aren't listenable to me... But since kuu had more tracks...lol I guess she just hit more good songs. I'm just going to vote for her cause, I know she worked really hard on this album, making something that I know she likes, and even though Ayu did the same thing...it's just means a little more when Koda does it. Anyways, in the end, she gave us more stuff :shrug |
Ugh that's very hard actually, i was blown away by JAPONESQUE when it came out but i havn't found myself listening to it much since it's release.
Party Queen on the other hand i know i'll listen to a lot more in the future, and the great tracks are KILLER. But Kuu's has more tracks i love overall. I can't pick.. |
Both have their strengths and weaknesses, JAPONESQUE is very well developed, the artwork is incredible, and most pvs are between being meh and very good, though some of the songs are just bad or boring :shrug
Party Queen has the songs, I love every single one of them, but the artwork is bad and the pvs are horrible. I seriously can't decide which one's better lol And yeah as someone else said already, they are quite different, so they can't be really compared. |
Party Queen... Japonesque I LOVE a few songs, but the rest aren't really my style. Party Queen has more songs that are my style.
|
PARTY QUEEN IS THE QUEEN!
|
I won't vote but... Koda's PVs in the album are way better. Same goes for the covers.
|
JAPONESQUE....you'd have to be deaf......or maybe blind to pick the other.
|
My eyes and ears are perfectly normal... and I picked Party Queen...
edit: my vote is based on quality of the songs only |
meh I'm going for Party Queen lol I can listen to it all the time without skipping any tracks
|
I'm stunned that JPNSQ has held on to the lead. I figured that Ayu would be 50 votes in the lead by now.
|
Party Queen, JAPONESQUE is just a generic album with one or two catchy songs...

Wow, I'm surprised JAPONESQUE is winning right now, I was so underwhelmed with it. Party Queen, on the other hand, grew on me a ton in a really short amount of time. I love pretty much every song on it. JAPONESQUE has no songs I'm absolutely in love with and only a few I REALLY like. The rest I either don't like or don't care about at all. I'm basing all of this on music alone though, as anyone voting should. JAPONESQUE of course has better covers and PVs, without question.
|
I chose JAPONESQUE because it has so much variety in it, every song is a winner in my eyes and I love it to pieces.

I picked Party Queen because I constantly listen to the first 3/4 of the album up until "Tell me why".
JAPONESQUE is very cohesive and well produced overall. But there were some filler tracks that were 'meh', and a few dance tracks had mediocre melodies. With Party Queen (and all other ayu albums) I never feel like there are filler tracks, even if I don't like the last four songs in PQ. |
JAPONESQUE, because I can't listen Ayu's albuns until the last song since RnRC and this is not a exception for me. I like almost 5 or 6 songs on Party Queen (which is great, I dont like any song on Love Songs), and it's a good album, but I only can listen to individual songs and not the whole album together, it just get boring sometimes.
JAPONESQUE is still fresh when it's on the middle of the album, when you think it's gonna slow down it comes the INTERLUDE, and the other half is even more exciting. |
JAPONESQUE x10000000

Japonesque
|
I never thought in a million years I would EVER pick an Ayu album over Kuu's, but in this case I will.
In my opinion 'Japonesque' as a whole was just a watered down version of some of Kuu's previous albums with slight variation. Better cover art? Definitely. Better PVs? Hell Yeah. Better sounding album? Nope. |
JAPONESQUE for me.
I do love the middle part of Party Queen, but that's pretty much it. Not a big fan of the first and the last part and also the interludes. Though there are some weaker songs on JAPONESQUE as well, I prefer it as an album. It offers so much, production overall is great and I stil love to listen to it as a whole after 2 months. |
I'm of course ayu-biased (though I like Kumi a lot), and my problem with Kumi is that I find most of her album tracks fillers. With JAPONESQUE, however, there aren't too many filler songs and the album tracks are actually pretty awesome (I love No Man's Land and Boom Boom Boys, especially), but if I had to choose between anything and an ayu album, you know where I'm going.
Indeed, Party Queen isn't perfect, but I really love this album; it's a new move from her, in that she had never released a full album without a single before (what about how beautiful you are, you say? Bytch please, I say). And the album itself is fantastic; it's got an alleged profound meaning behind it, and it's got songs in genre she's never done before. Party Queen is totally fresh. Execution-wise, I think JAPONESQUE excels; greater covers, more music videos and a fvckload of promotions. Yet I stand by Party Queen for its music and its overall greatness that is ayu :) |
JAPONESQUE.
I listened to Party Queen for a couple of days and then I also skipped alot of songs. Now I only enjoy about 3 songs from that album and I don't bother to put it on cuz there is too much skipping going on. I found myself listening to JAPONESQUE again right after those few PQ listening days I had. And this is very supricing for me since I have always been a blind Ayu fan that have always thought that she had the best albums (well up until R'n'RC - the last album that blew my mind). And now Kuu came and took my attension. Nothing bad against Ayu, I still love her and her music like crazy. After PQ came out I actually stoped listening to "new" Ayu music completely and just went backk to the old school songs (from ASfXX up until RAINBOW). :heart Lovely times.~ Anywho, I just like the whole everything about JAPONESQUE more. Covers, PVs, the wide range of songs, the absence of weird choirs. Ayus lyrics is naturally the best ones, but that's about it. PQ was not really my cup of tea, just like Love Songs and FIVE wasn't that either. But I still love Ayu like crazy and I support everything she does and I will stay by her side like I always have done. :yes Even though both girls for sure worked really hard with their albums I like Kuus huge excitement and effort she put into JAPONESQUE. It's truly her baby and she's so so so proud of it which only makes me enjoy the album more. |
Party Queen
|
This is kind of hard because JAPONESQUE is like, well it's got so much variety and it's a straight up pop oriented album even though there's rap elements and R&B and Rock it's all still "popular".
I find more emotion in Party Queen, not to say that Kumi doesn't sing with emotion, she does, but what I feel in the song's in Party Queen pale in comparison to the songs in JAPONESQUE. I'll have to say that I think Party Queen is better, personally. I was absolutely spamming JAPONESQUE tracks until Party Queen came out, then that totally took over. Sometimes even with a new album's release I'll still listen to a previously released album too. But for now it's been all Party Queen. |
Party Queen ... I'm disappointed in the lot of you!

Definitely JAPONESQUE :luv2
I love all the songs on it while I only like a third of Party Queen But what's important to me is replay value~ I'm still replaying the entire JAPONESQUE album while I occasionally play Return Road or something |
For me, this poll is like Fashion vs. Style.
|
Japonesque
Wow, I would have never thought that I there will come a day when I prefer a Kumi-album over an Ayu-album! :no |
sorry no offense to Kumi but her album is winning over PQ in AHS !
this is a disaster ! :roflmao |
Kuu surprises me, really! Japonesque is a bomb with very very good new songs! I listen to it so often!
Kuu plays with her voice, such great vocals! Ayu.... Party Queen is nice but not there is something I don't like in it. It's fun, for exemple, Hextan thinks PQ is more emotional and me, I think there is no emotion at all xD Ayu's voice is tired for me. |
Party Queen. I forgot about JAPONESQUE a week after it was out.
|
I took some time to listen to some of the major tracks off of JAPONESQUE (and I haven't listened to Koda since her first album...) and I have to say,
Ayu's music is more meaningful, but ultimately her image + lyrics + singing ability + music just did not come together the way Koda's did. In spite of the lack of depth, JAPONESQUE is a superior album, especially when it comes to the upbeat tracks. Koda's are catchy and her voice takes control of every song. Her lyrics/meaning may be more generic, but then, there are few mainstream artists who contribute as much depth as Ayu. And unfortunately lyrics + meaning alone are rarely enough to carry an album. |
JAPONESQUE has Boom Boom Boys ... so JAPONESQUE!
The only thing PQ has going for it is 'how beautiful you are'. The ballads on Japonesque leave much to be desired. But one song versus an album of hits, obvious choice for me. |
Party Queen
I never skip a song on it JAPONESQUE on the other hand, I skip 90% of the songs until Ai wo tomenaide, and listen from that song till the end and I'm done. I tend to not skip IN THE AIR and i 50/50 skip ESCALATE. |
Must say that I am surprised to see that Japonesque is still in the lead.
I voted for Koda Kumi as well. I love reminds me~Return Road~Tell me Why on Party Queen, but I don't listen to any of the other songs :|. Japonesque has Love Technique which I absolutely LOVE and I generally hate cutesie Kuu songs lol. And it also has KO-SO-KO-SO, IN THE AIR, BBB, No Mans Land, So Nice, Slow... which I all really love :yes And the bad songs on Japonesque are better than the bad songs on Party Queen so yeah. |
JAPONESQUE definitely. It had more songs that I enjoyed and was a lot more listenable as a whole. My favorite Kumi album since Kingdom.
Party Queen was just disappointing to me and is one of my least favorite albums, down there with LOVEppears and Duty. I only listen to NaNaNa, Shake It, Call, Reminds Me, and sometime How Beautiful You Are, and then I'm pretty much done with this album. This is one of the few albums in my J-Pop collection that I wished I had downloaded instead of paying money for. |
Japonesque
|
Japonesque
but only by a tiny little bit... |
Wow, Kuu is still in the lead...
|
Wow...the one time I don't vote for Kuu in a "Ayu vs. Kuu" thread, and she actually has the greater # of votes. :P
Go Kuu! |
Japonesque by far
|
JAPONESQUE is quite possibly my favourite album of all time, i think... And I wasn't that impressed by Party Queen, so i choose JAPONESQUE :)
|
Japonesque
|
I love Party Queen, but Japonesque is much better, it has so many perfect songs. i can listen to the whole thing without skipping.
|
Voted for Japonesque... This one is great, and that's the first i fully listen of her... And There's lot of pvs !
|
JAPO~ JAPO~ JAPO~ JAPO~~
|
Japonesque
|
Party Queen
|
Japonesque... sorry ayu.. :)
|
Japonesque ~
|
Party Queen :3
|
Party Queen
I hate explaining to people why I love this album, but I do, it's one of my favorites from Ayu :yes |
Japonesque.
|
sorry ayu, but i gotta give it to kuu with this one (but i still love party queen!!)
|
This is funny and in my case I'll say why:
I love the JAPONESQUE cover.. I was so excited when it was announced... But, unfortunately I don't like Koda's music as much as before.... on the other hand, I HATE the Party Queen cover, and I thought I hated the songs too... but lately it's been growing on me. So I have to admit I prefer the annoying Party Queen album. |
I can't say...both are great in theire own way. And I can not compare Ayu with Koda or Koda with Ayu, both have an independent stlye in music and fashion. So I didn't vote :)
|
JAPONESQUE every day of the week and twice on Sundays.
|
Despite Japonesque being totally awesome, I like Party Queen more. Ayu had some really different tracks on there and overall I thought it was a solidn album. I know some of the Timmy raps were questionable, but in general, I loved the album. It also has a special meaning to me because I went to CDL 11-12 on the 29th, so I was in the audience that heard "Party Queen" first along with a few other tracks.^^
|
JAPONESQUE is iconic, so i voted for that album, I like Party Queen a lot too.
