flumpool’s “Because… I am” earns tie-up with ‘au AQUOSPHONE CL IS17SH’ and ‘Sukkiri!’
flumpool’s new song, “Because… I am“, has been chosen as the CM song for ‘au AQUOSPHONE CL IS17SH‘! It will also serve as the theme song for NTV’s morning news show, ‘Sukkiri!‘. The song shares the same title as flumpool’s current nationwide tour, and it’s described as a dynamic rock number. “Because… I am” was originally slated for release on July 4th, but due to certain circumstances with production, the release date has been pushed back to July 11th. http://www.tokyohive.com/2012/06/flu...h-and-sukkiri/ |

flumpool: Japan’s modern-day Beatles?
http://l2.yimg.com/bt/api/res/1.2/qY...ee-of-them.jpg Meet flumpool, an up-and-coming four-man pop-rock band from Japan. The group, which burst onto the scene in 2007, consists of lead vocalist and rhythm guitarist Ryuta Yamamura, lead guitarist Kazuki Sakai, both of whom are 27 years old, as well as bassist Genki Amakawa, and drummer Seiji Ogura, who are a year older. flumpool's journey to fame in Japan was aided by helpful breaks -- one of their singles, Over the Rain, was used as the theme song of local drama series Bloody Monday, and another,Hana ni Nare, was used in a television commercial, and after their first mini album, Unreal, hit number 2 in the Japanese Oricon album charts in the week of its release, they emerged as one of the top new bands in 2008. Three albums, numerous successful sold-out concert tours and even two books later, the band is now Singapore-bound, and will debut here on 15 September in a small showcase to begin with, a part of what is perhaps a daring gamble by its parent company, Amuse Inc., to bring J-pop back to popularity here. 'We've always only had music' Not something you'd hear from an average Singaporean, that's for sure -- but for flumpool, going into music professionally was a natural process. "We started with street performances -- from there we started gaining listeners, and we felt like our music really touched them," says Ryuta Yamamura, who takes lead vocals and plays rhythm guitar. "We felt from there that this is what we should do; it was what we were destined to do." Yamamura, Sakai, and Amakawa were friends since they were in kindergarten. Both started playing their instruments at 14, during a time where playing the guitar was a fad. For the -- for the three of them, it became much more than that, though. They started calling themselves "cube" because there were three of them, but at the beginning of 2007, the trio roped in Ogura, their dynamic, high-powered drummer, and refashioned themselves with the letter "f" from "four", combining the words "lump" and "pool" -- which mean mass -- into their resulting unique name. Modern-day Beatles? http://l2.yimg.com/bt/api/res/1.2/WR...st-drummer.jpg Like their local pop-rock predecessors Happy End in the 1970s, flumpool says they're greatly inspired by the legendary British rock band. "The Beatles get us through our troubles in life, and that's what we feel we want to achieve for other people -- we want our music to help people gain confidence in whatever they do," shares Yamamura. True, one wouldn't quite associate their music with the bouncy, catchy tunes of Love Me Do or From Me To You, but Yamamura says they aspire to the effect that The Beatles had on their millions upon millions of fans. And there are similarities between the four 20-somethings and John Lennon, Paul McCartney, George Harrison and Ringo Starr: the relationship between Yamamura and Sakai is somewhat reminiscent of that shared between Lennon and McCartney, with them sharing much of the writing responsibilities, while Amakawa puts up a quiet but passionate front, the way Harrison always did -- except that Harrison played the guitar. 'A special connection' http://l1.yimg.com/bt/api/res/1.2/z3...z/yamamura.jpg Asked how they differentiate themselves from a significantly-saturated local market, Yamamura explains that the band has a special connection with its audience. "We don't think we're particularly unique, but we feel like we perform for an audience that feels the same way we do," he says. "It's a communication process that we have with our audience that we feel is different from certain bands." And connect they do -- during their most recent concert in Tokyo on Sunday night, the band spent at least a fifth of the two-and-a-half hour show chatting with the audience, sparring among themselves and working the crowd. Yamamura does most of the talking, and addresses both floors of the 5,000-capacity Tokyo International Forum hall separately and together, making it a point as frequently as possible to thank them for coming, and for their support. He also at one point introduces the other members of the band, speaking at length about the quirks and interesting mannerisms his counterparts have -- from saying that Ogura is "way too skinny", and is only ever seen buying drinks, to sharing about how Amakawa wears running attire even in winter. flumpool's comic side evidently emerges during their shows, in particular with lead guitarist Sakai, who at one point on Sunday night picked up a menu, ordered a plate of food, had it brought in and even took a bite from it -- even though he provides supporting vocals to Yamamura. He also spars well with the lead singer, in particular, compared to the relative silence from the other two. Their energy and passion is also telling in their concert, during which the band performed live some 20 songs. Most of these were rock, but Yamamura did slow it down for a few numbers, sharing about the creative process of their songwriting at various stages. And they are good quality musicians, too -- Yamamura's singing voice is classic pop-rock style, with a strong, clear quality; Sakai and Amakawa pull their own weights with several solid guitar and bass solos respectively, with Sakai playing both acoustic and electric guitars at various points. Ogura, too, displays some epic drumming skills in a lengthy, rapid tirade at one point, also weaving songs seamlessly together -- another unique facet of the band's performance. Venturing into Singapore The four are now looking forward to expand into Singapore, where the J-pop scene once thrived as strongly as the Korean pop scene does now. "Our aim in this is simple: we just want to connect and communicate with Singapore fans, just like how we connect with people here," says Yamamura. "That's the most important thing -- we don't know (Singaporeans) very well yet, but through our music, we hope to be able to connect with Singapore, learn about its culture and be inspired by them to do new things (with our music)." At the same time, the band is learning Mandarin (and very slowly, English) in preparation to break into the massive Chinese market, having toured previously in Taiwan, and even though concrete plans to move beyond Singapore in Southeast Asia haven't been made yet, the lead singer says Singapore is, where they're told, "the place to be". "It's a great country, with great people, and that's why we want to go," he says. "We've heard very good things about it, and have never been there, so we want to learn more about it (Singapore)." flumpool is doing pretty well in Japan, and while the extent of their international success does remain to be seen -- they are only about five and a half years old -- these modern-day Beatles aspirants do seem to have passion and promise. http://sg.entertainment.yahoo.com/bl...medium=twitter ==== A rather long writeup but I never would have thought Yahoo S'pore would have written such a great if not unbiased article on flumpool And seriously , I cannot wait to see them live in performance next month here in my country alongside with WEAVER Front rowstage baby :heart |

flumpool’s new single chosen as theme song for Naka Riisa’s upcoming drama
Rock band flumpool will be releasing their new single, “Answer“, on November 7th. This single has been chosen as the theme song for TBS‘ upcoming drama, ‘Resident ~5-nin no Kenshui‘, starring actress Naka Riisa. It’s been about 2 years since flumpool was in charge of a theme song for a tv drama, with their last being ‘Bloody Monday Season 2‘ back in January of 2010. The single will be released in 3 different types: Limited Edition A, Limited Edition B, and Regular Edition. Limited Edition A will come with a special DVD containing a 60-minute footage titled ‘Furayon ~Kiseki no Shinkyoku Tanjou-hen‘. Meanwhile, Limited Edition B will include 5 live audio tracks from “5th tour 2012 ‘Because… I am’“. For its coupling track, the single will include “Kimi wo Tsurete“, which is currently the theme song for Fuji TV’s ‘Mezamashi Doyoubi‘. This song will not be included in flumpool’s upcoming album that’s due out this fall. ‘Resident ~5-nin no Kenshui’ will begin its broadcast in October. The story takes place at a critical care center of a university hospital and it portrays the growth of 5 young medical interns. Aside from Naka, the cast includes Hayashi Kento, Masuda Takahisa (NEWS), Omasa Aya, and Ishibashi Anna. http://www.tokyohive.com/2012/09/flu...pcoming-drama/ |
Yahoo ! Entertainment S'pore - Japanese bands flumpool and WEAVER charm Singapore
http://i48.tinypic.com/303iweu.jpg Piano-rock band WEAVER was back in S'pore for the second time this year. (Photo courtesy of Asia PR Werkz) Dressed in an assembly of casual blazers, T-shirts and jeans, WEAVER may not have had stunning outfits to impress its 650-strong fans at *SCAPE Warehouse for its gig in Singapore on Saturday night, but their soaring vocals more than made up for it. Back for the second time this year (they first performed here in March) in a combined showcase with pop-rock group flumpool, WEAVER flaunted their impeccable musical talent — with vocalist Yuji Sugimoto on the piano, Shouta Okuno on the bass and Toru Kawabe on the drums. The three-member piano-rock band debuted in 2007 by performing at live events in Kobe, Japan. Three years later, they hit the road to success when they had their track Hard to say I love you ~Iidasenakute~ featured as the theme song of a local drama. Onstage, the young talents (all three members are only 24-years-old) were an impressive sight to watch as each paraded their musical flair to great fanfare. But bassist Okuno was an exceptionally heart-stirring sight to watch — easily winning the audience over with his cheeky grins and deft harmonisation at bass. Since he had the most flexibility to move onstage with his guitar, every step from him towards the crowd also elicited loud screams. However, it was vocalist Sugimoto who made the most effort to connect with the audience. The piano marvel was surprisingly eloquent in English as he told the crowd, "Hello Singapore, we are WEAVER! Thanks for coming… didn't know we can come back so soon. Thank you. It's so good to see you. Today we bring you our music to make you smile. Please enjoy!" The trio also proved to have comedic talent — as they easily tickled the audience with their jokes; mixed with their awkward boyish charm. At one point, the floor burst into uncontrollable laughter when the members started challenging each other to see who had the most dexterity in English and Mandarin. Music-wise, the band blazed through a 60-minute set list, which was peppered with old favourites like Kanseito and Kimi no Tomodachi as well as new hits like Tsuyogari Bambi. But it was evident that Sugimoto's pipes shone the best during slower songs like Shine and Hard to say I love you ~Iidasenakute~. http://i47.tinypic.com/2dtudja.jpg Bassist Genki Amakawa (L) and lead vocalist Ryuta Yamamura from flumpool belting out a tune. (Photo courtesy of … But it was clear whom the audience was waiting for — as the floor exploded into raucous screams and howls when four-piece pop-rock band flumpool emerged onstage after WEAVER's showcase ended. Making their long-awaited debut in Singapore, the five-year-old band was nothing short of spectacular — judging by the explosive reaction of the mostly-teenage crowd whenever the band burst into a fresh upbeat song. Comprising vocalist Ryuta Yamamura, guitarist Kazuki Sakai, bassist Genki Amakawa and drummer Seiji Ogura, flumpool is steadfastly climbing the ladder to success — with their first single Hana ni Nare released in 2008 having reached close to two million downloads to date and their latest album Fantasia of Life Stripe receiving gold certification last year. The quartet has also proved they could score commercial success — with their single Over the rain ~Hikari no Hashi~ being featured as the opening song for a local drama called Bloody Monday and another track, two of us, being used as the theme song for hit Japanese drama Ainori 2. http://i49.tinypic.com/dbijpi.jpg Deafening screams from the floor accompanied flumpool each time they launched into a new song. Many fans were also jumped in rhythm with the melody, complete with typical head-bobbing and hand-swaying. Lead singer Yamamura was clearly excited for the band's first performance in the lion city, as he repeatedly engaged the crowd and encouraged them to scream louder. Sakai, who was on the guitar, was also a ball of energy as he pranced around the stage and made a variety of monkey faces to the crowd. The goofball even brought a bowl of local delicacy bak kut teh onstage to eat — in an apparent showing of his newfound love for Singaporean cuisine. Amidst up-tempo tunes like Calling and labo — where Yamamura showed off his unbelievably strong and steady pipes — the band also engaged in small talk with the audience in a splattering of halting English and (a tad more fluent) Mandarin. Like WEAVER, the band continuously showed their gratitude and appreciation for their Singaporean fans as they repeatedly thanked the audience for their attendance. Said Yamamura in Mandarin, "Thank you for coming to our concert. We're very touched to see all of you. Let's get 'high' until the end!" The energy of the fans then rose another level as Yamamura's youthful zest and punch infected the crowd. The 650-strong audience also effortlessly mouthed the lyrics to the band's favourites like Hoshi no Negai wo and Because... I am. Slightly marring the three-and-a-half hour-long event were the distracting and blinding strobe lights which shone into the audience's eyes intermittently. Chairs that filled the VIP area also may have stopped some fans from losing themselves entirely in the music — as some stood awkwardly, listening at full-attention stance. Nonetheless, fans seemed very satisfied as the showcase drew to an end. 22-year-old Melissa Chan told this reporter that she was blown away by both bands' performances. "I loved how they really engaged the audience and genuinely wanted to play for us — and not just because we are another paying audience. It was worth all the energy and my friends and I left with a warm fuzzy feeling," she said. The local undergrad also added that even though she was initially only looking forward to flumpool's showcase, WEAVER had thoroughly impressed her with their sincerity and raw talent — hence ultimately leaving her a "bigger fan of both [bands]". Another fan, 24-year-old copywriter Alicia Tan — who has been following both bands since 2010 — agreed with Chan and applauded WEAVER's effort to interact with the crowd; adding that she appreciated both bands' attempts to speak in English and Mandarin to the local crowd. When asked about the possibility of J-pop/rock making a successful comeback in Singapore, Tan said that it is only possible if local record companies were willing to stock Japanese music in their stores to expose more people to the genre. But she added, "I think smaller, more controlled showcases are the best way to start, and to expose existing J-music fans and non J-music fans to the bands. You cannot expect the fanbase to grow by simply importing their music alone." "In a way I think Singaporeans (and neighbouring regions) are ready for J-music [as] the previous L'Arc-en-Ciel concert showed that South East Asians are willing to travel to Singapore to see their favourite bands." http://sg.entertainment.yahoo.com/bl...160254521.html === OMG I WAS THERE PERSONALLY LAST SAT & BOTH BANDS WERE AMAZING LIVE :thud COME BACK SINGAPORE SOON , WEAVER & flumpool <3 |
JpopAsia's Interview With flumpool
JPA: Out of all the songs that you have sung, what are your favorites and the reasons behind it? flumpool: We choose “Because... I Am”, our latest song. The message of “believe in yourself, to have confidence” is very important; it is the main theme for this song. We really feel that even for us, our condition is not the best for LIVE performances or there may be things that are not going well for us in life, but of course, we need to have self-confidence in any time. JPA: Which countries would you like to visit and perform in? flumpool: Frankly, we wouldn’t mind visiting any countries, as long as we can feel the culture of the country, like Singapore. Previously, we performed live in Taiwan, and we managed to experience the culture there as well. JPA: What are some of the biggest dreams that you have achieved through your music? flumpool: During any live performances, to be able to convey the message of the song and connect with the hearts of the audience and fans, is really important. JPA: If you do not feel in the best condition during live performances, what do you do to gain the confidence that you need? flumpool: Once the performance starts, everything begins to go well, even though we might have felt a little less than confident right before the performance. And because we are a band, we have each other to rely on if any one of us feels inadequate. JPA: With your experience, what would be your advice to teenagers who face difficult problems? flumpool: Even for us, it is important to have self-confidence. During life, we all have some flaws. Take a marriage proposal for an example. Some of us may not be the best-looking, or be the smartest person, or any flaws, we all still need confidence. However, if you hesitate to tell a person how you feel, just because you are shy, you will never succeed. It’s the same for us. If we hesitate with our music, no matter how accomplished we are, we cannot succeed. There is no harm in trying. JPA: How has the release of “Because... I Am” changed your views on different matters? flumpool: For this new release, we went on a tour in 52 cities for 5 months in Japan. This is the biggest tour that we have gone on. Throughout this tour, we tried to convey our messages and feelings to the fans, and made each performance the top priority, since we only had one single chance to connect with the fans and audience. We did our best for each performance. Through this kind of effort, for 52 times, we definitely have changed. We have gained so much more confidence in ourselves. JPA: Have you ever thought of playing different instruments? Kazuki Sakai: I’ve tried playing the bass guitar, but I failed last time, so I’d like to try it again. Seiji Ogura: Right now, I still need a lot of practice on the drums, so I don’t think I have enough time to learn a new instrument. Genki Amakawa: I would like to try the drums as well! Ryuuta Yamamura: Same goes for me! JPA: *To Seiji Ogura* I think you should teach all of them how to play the drums! Seiji Ogura: That’s very expensive tuition fees! *laughter* http://www.jpopasia.com/news/exclusi...ol::12241.html |

flumpool’s Sakai Kazuki to go on hiatus in order to devote himself to dieting

o_O Er good luck to Kazuki I guess & honestly when I saw him onstage last Sept , he wasn't that fat Heck he even ate a little bit of local Singaporean food onstage during their MC sesssions haha |
[J-ROCK] SID AND FLUMPOOL ATTENDING MUSIC MATTERS 2013, SINGAPORE ON THE 23RD OF MAY
Quote:
O.M.G :thud :thud :thud I REALLY REALLY want to go for this but seems like it will be closed doors corporate event ? ._. Wow , I'm really surprised that SID is coming to S'pore for the 1st time & while for flumpool + WEAVER , they're coming back again xD Damnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnn |
YES YES YES :thud
http://i0.wp.com/www.afachan.asia/wp...size=571%2C241 http://www.afachan.asia/2013/04/j-ro...he-23rd-of-may OMG 23rd May , is a date with both flumpool & SID <3 <3 <3 <3 <3 It's going to be funny to see flumpool again for the 2nd time in a row but HEY I'm not complaining xD |
ah omg :thud :thud :thud
Quote:
Short clip of flumpool in which Ryuuta speaks in surprisingly perfect English about this :D omg the thought of seeing them 3 times in a row as compared to BREAKERZ in my own home turf country = madness if not insane :thud |
less than 5 more days before I see flumpool live in person/concert for 2 days back to back next Thurs & Fri alongside with SID & WEAVER :heart
and their airplane flight details have been already released just now via Facebook Quote:
Too bad I'll be working if not I most definitely will welcome all 3 bands next week before next Thurs/Fri back to back worth of fun xD So can't wait , this's going to be awesome :D . I'm not sure which 1 I should be more excited over , the free showcase or flumpool's showcase ? http://i2.wp.com/www.afachan.asia/wp...MLive-2013.jpg http://www.afachan.asia/2013/05/even...ampaign=Buffer |
This's it ! I'm finally going to see flumpool + SID later tonight after work <3
They did a radio show yesterday with Chinese radio station YES 93.3 https://fbcdn-sphotos-f-a.akamaihd.n...27635023_n.jpg LOL at Seiji holding the Kazuki's 'i am on a diet' board xD flumpool’s temporary guitarist revealed! Turns out to be comedian Yusuke Inoue Quote:

omg I had SO much fun seeing flumpool back to back in both showcases , it was CRAZY but I survived :laugh
It was a great experience going to see them twice in a row & both experiences were different but the overall feeling is the same , priceless in seeing them live after so soon after last Sept :heart I'll be writing my concert reports within the next few days & yesterday afternoon after the indoor showcase ended , Ryuuta said onstage they will release a new single in Summer , followed by 2 days back to back performing at Nippon Budokan in Oct ! For now , here're 2 clips of flumpool that were taken from their press conference ; both have English subtitles flumpool hopes that Taiwanese rockband Mayday's Ashin will write more songs for them -> http://video.xin.msn.com/watch/video...257c%257c%257c Guitarist Kazuki makes a special appearance in Singapore despite a visual hiatus -> http://video.xin.msn.com/watch/video...iatus/tn6v898z For the record , Kazuki did came/tagged along & performed with the other 3 onstage for both dates which was a relief . I rather see him than comedian Yusuke Inoue & for the record , Kazuki does NOT look fat when I saw him xD He's doing a good job losing weight haha & Ryuuta was trying his best not to laugh in the 2nd clip but that obviously failed big time :P |
flumpool will release their 11th single 大切なもの君以外に見当たらなくて / 微熱リフレーム (Tai Setsuna Mono Kimi Igai ni Miataranakute / Binetsu Reframe) on 3rd July :D

I love it that prior to OAOA , he was doing the whole pep rally cheering from left to right , to ladies to gentlemen until he said S'pore xD |
