Hoping for Rule / Mirrorcle World...

Thanks for sharing this news!

TeamAyu2004 7th September 2012 10:53 PM

I wonder if it will be broadcasted?

truehappiness 7th September 2012 10:54 PM

It's usually on DVD at least. Not sure about a TV broadcast.

!Lawi! 7th September 2012 10:54 PM

Can I dream ?

She's gonna perfom her ToX song, a fierce rock-ish song :D

Some articles. Over the two day festival, they expect about 50,000~ attendees.

It seems that Ayu was a "BIG SURPRISE" artist? Previously, she wasn't announced until like an hour ago.

TeamAyu2004 7th September 2012 11:08 PM

It is kinda a surprise... I really don't think of ayumi when I think rock... if her new song has rock elements this would be perfect to debut it.

ExodusUK 7th September 2012 11:23 PM

I wonder if Ayu's performance will be longer than a hour since she's the second to last performer.
I hope her voice is good, I can't imagine how people who aren't there for Ayu or fans will react to her "unpredictable" voice

pommy48 7th September 2012 11:32 PM

Haha Ayu is such a rock girl, so hope she'll actually perform her 'rock songs'

:luv2 Another performance of countdown would be perfect <3

ExodusUK 7th September 2012 11:35 PM

TK will be there too as part of TM Revolution maybe they can debut the new together (90% likely he's the composer once again).

TeamAyu2004 7th September 2012 11:37 PM

^ you mean the new song?
Did he compose progress

Yeah and You & Me

TeamAyu2004 7th September 2012 11:49 PM

Cool, I liked both, and since i think it was confirmed that the songs will be similar, we can assume, yes.

truehappiness 7th September 2012 11:52 PM

We actually don't know anything about the next Tales song other than that it's fast/speedy with lots of guitar.

Quote:

The theme song sang by Ayumi Hamasaki has an upbeat temp. It’s a magnificent song featuring a strong guitar part, and it has a very speedy feeling. It was written in accordance with the previous title. Ufotable is making the opening animation for us.
Basically, it 'fits' the game like progress did for ToX, whatever that means.

Original interview:

Translated by maikaru:
It says it's a large scale song, that is very uptempo, which gives the feeling of "Alright!! We're going to do this now!!"
There's strings, and there's also guitar phrases which really make an impact.
It's a song that is really written to match with the world of the game.
It is a song that is in now way inferior to the previous "progress," and it's a splendid opening song.
They are now producing an opening reel that will live up to the intensity of the song, and this movie is being steadily produced by ufotable.

I think Yuta may have done the new song unless she had DAI or Kazuhiro Hara do it which would be amazing.

TeamAyu2004 8th September 2012 12:03 AM

I was going by the quoted part truehappiness said about progress. If the second game is anything.like the first, then we are looking at progress part 2 really.
And blah on you for mixing.up names, lol.
Either way both songs are excellent.

Chibi-Chan 8th September 2012 12:44 AM

Oh god, I'm so excited about this performance! A rock and roll festival souns very promising!

ayumisrael 8th September 2012 12:49 AM

Usually ayu wouldn't participate in these things since it's "small" for her (I would think) but it's great hahaha =D

She's gonna sing some rock songs obviously.

mizuki-7 8th September 2012 01:23 AM

Quote:

really don't think of ayumi when I think rock...
Yes she is categorized as a pop artist but no one can deny that she has a lot of rock influence throughout her discography ^^

Btw It's quite rare for a mainstream singer to have succeeded with style influenced heavily by rock (I know she has not done only rock song but maybe 3/4 or at least 2/3 are a pop-rock/soft rock/rock or other rock style)

TeamAyu2004 8th September 2012 01:40 AM

^ oh, of course.
I mean her entire secret and guilty albums are heavy rock, but I still think of her as the queen of pop.

Deep snow 8th September 2012 01:55 AM

Yay, exposure! I hope her voice is well taken care of.

LastAngel 8th September 2012 02:01 AM

So we'll be able to watch this live eventually right?

Larisa-chan 8th September 2012 02:02 AM

This is really cool :) I hope she'll perform a rock song of hers, but I guess You & Me makes the most sense since it was just released....

And Ayu + the Gazette performing at the same festival = <3

zellyx 8th September 2012 02:13 AM

YES!!! I'm so excited!!! I want some Talkin' 2 Myself, Decision, Because of You...YES AYU + ROCK MUSIC = :heart

Zeke. 8th September 2012 02:44 AM

New rock songs please! Never understood what people categorize as pop-rock and full on rock. I mean, Ayu has had some of the HEAVIEST guitar work in her songs, and down-right badass tunage... so I consider her rock songs some of the best, if not THE best out there.

TeamAyu2004 8th September 2012 02:50 AM

I think its just because she is a pop star... She will always be in that cat. as long as she is making music... I always feel even her hard rock songs still have touches of pop. Still love them though.

Refix 8th September 2012 02:53 AM

Nice! Thanks for sharing. Doesn't care much about what she gonna sing, I like to see her outfit.

Zeke. 8th September 2012 02:54 AM

Well what makes "pop" though? I'm always just confused? Something that's catchy? Something with a distinct melody? Something that's POPULAR? By that definition though, even goth-metal could become "pop" if it were "popular"... Take talkin' 2 myself for example - how the Hell would you consider that "pop" lol. Or Microphone? I mean, what is an example of a purely "ROCK" group/singer? Do you have to be in a group to be considered "rock" ? Food for thought. Many of Ayu's rock/rockish songs you would never hear your average pop artist sing, so just because she is by definition a "pop star" means that anything she puts out is considered pop?

Bigtop 8th September 2012 03:01 AM

Ayu in a rock festival!? I just cannot believe about this...!!!

AyuGAME 8th September 2012 03:17 AM

tokyoxjapanxfan 8th September 2012 04:45 AM

I just looked at the "access" page and was confused out of my mind lolol.

Shuttle buses and time tables?

Hm. I'll ask my roommate lol

TeamAyu2004 8th September 2012 04:58 AM

@Zeke. Well, pop music is technically, only whats popular... but of course one could argue that it has taken on a life of its own? I mean it has its own sound and what not, but it is always something that I think evolves a lot and very often.
Ayumi just fits into that mold very well...

like your example, talkin 2 myself is a good example of pop rock... ins more rock then pop, but I think it's more pop friends...
I mean look at Sarah Brightman, she is classical pop/crossover... talkin 2 myself is almost a carbon copy Fleurs du Mal, but it's not consider rock at all, it's Gothic. lol

JackieRos 8th September 2012 05:08 AM

she better sing rockish songs not no ballads

zellyx 8th September 2012 05:22 AM

actually, Heartplace or A Song for XX would be sick too...

+ anything from Guilty.

TeamAyu2004 8th September 2012 05:31 AM

I don't think they really are considering how many artists are there. They are only 1500 yen more expensive than the regular AT tickets.

I am glad Ayu's performing; hoping for some A-rock! Opening with alterna or GAME would be awesome!

Aderianu 8th September 2012 10:09 AM

Ugh, I think they meant songs like (d)lma versus something like talkin' 2 myself, where one has rock influences but can still be played commercially and is alot "easier" on the ears than the other type. Other songs that can be classed as pop rock would be About You, Until that day... does that make sense, when you'd compare it to heavier songs like Microphone and such?
I think alot of Ayu's music does lie in the middle, though. She definitely has rok music in her though. I sometimes wish she were part of a band because she CLEARLY is into it and loves it.

That person wasn't discrediting Ayu or anything, so you can take a chill pill.

AHS is seriously overdramatic.

isthisLOL? 8th September 2012 03:21 PM

Every artist seems to have 1 hour + 10 minutes for the next artist to get ready(with the exception of the band itself). 1 hour of Ayu? YESPLEASE. I just really hope her entire performance will be released and not a 1-4 song excerpt.

Lol at the genre definition Pop/Rock discussion.

Lol, you need to take a chill pill because this was a serious question! I never understood what makes pure rock 'rock' and when it crosses over into "pop" - nobody can ever explain it to me and this was my chance to put the question out there...

The difference is mainly on the melodic and harmonical level - while also on the instrumental(and dynamic, and structural...), but to a lesser extent. So if you want to understand it you should learn some music theory and it will fall into place by itself, it cannot be explained without priopr knowledge in music theory and some research done by yourself on songs classified into those genres.

I plan on learning music theory, have for a while but have so many creative projects to get finished before I dive into studying music theory but thank you for explaining. I have heard classic rock songs much less "heavy" than Ayu's music and it was never classified as pop although these bands are quite popular. So it never made any sense to me.

The definition of what is Pop and what is Rock has shifted and blurred some over time, Pop has gotten closer to Rock and Rock has gotten closer to Hard Rock and Metal. Rock used to be very simplistic especially in the 60s(not all Rock, but much of the popular Rock), so it's close to today's definition of Pop, but in the 70s and 80s a shift to far more complex and heavy compositions started affecting Rock and has shaped what Rock is today. That's the main reason we use the term "Classic Rock" - because it's not the same as 90s, 00s or 10s rock.
Everything has gotten heavier, really.

Sandy 8th September 2012 06:52 PM

Jawdarna 9th September 2012 04:44 AM

Hmmmm, as a greater rock fan than a pop fan (Ayu is a minority in my iTunes), I've always found Ayu's rock songs kind of lame; and I think this is why some fans don't consider her songs that integrate electric/bass guitar, plus drums as rock. I've always felt as if Ayu's rock songs are just pop songs with selective instruments. It is the attitude of a rock song that actually allows it to become that way. Take Nirvana, or the Smashing Pumpkins for example. I really cannot imagine Ayu singing about hippie chick's drinking penny royal tea as to abort their pregnancies like Kurt Cobain, or proclaiming 'despite all my rage, I am still just a rat in a cage' like Billy Corgan. Though, both these bands came to prominence in the grunge era, so it is kind of unfair to argue these examples when lighter music out there is also considered rock.

I reckon the closest she has ever come to rock is Duty. End of the World still blows my mind; it has that edge of insanity about it.

Well for a lot of us (including you maybe?) we don't (fully) understand what she's singing about until the translations come out. So when listening, I am not focusing on the subject matter so much as the sound. And for me, her music is heavy enough for me to be like "F?CK YEAH!" and with enough of a catchy/genius melody/musical structure for me to want to listen to it over and over again - and that is good enough for me. Hell, it's exactly what I'm looking for.

SunshineSlayer 9th September 2012 06:43 AM

Wow, this really isn't Ayu's usual type of event. :) I'm hoping for no dancers and all rock and/or accoustic tracks.

She's not going to perform random obscure album tracks to a crowd of people who are at best are going to be casual fans.

I look forward to seeing the setlist :D

well when it comes to entertainment some do, like GACKT xD changed his 3 times or so, usually lol it depends on the artist tho. but most of the rock bands/acts don't.

I have a feeling it's gonbna be just band+ayu kinda thing like most of the rock bands.

i can't wait to see what songs she's choosing for this.

in my ears her heaviest songs are probably talkin'2myself , count down, microphone, rule, guilty. I think Humming would be kinda cool too since it really has this heavy sound no less than the others, plus it's fun. I think even A Song For XX might be a good choice here with a less pop-y arangement like the A BALLADS one just heavier.

Perfect said!

I don't know about that... wouldn't it be likelier for her to perform the 'usuals' in front of casual fans? (Boys & Girls, evolution, etc...) In this case, she could start from scratch live since the fans watching don't expect her to do X or Y.

Really look forward to hearing the setlist!

You sing your obscure tracks to your fandom and your well known tracks to people who doesn't care about you. :P She herself does that a lot, considering CDL has obscure tracks, AT has album tracks and A-Nation (where she shares the stage and audience) is composed mostly by classics + 2 or 3 songs from what she is promoting at the time.

If there's a chance a good part of the audience is either indifferent or unfavorable to her, the best thing she can do is remember them why they know her, in other words, overload them with stuff they know by heart being or not being her fans, liking or disliking her.^^

mizuki-7 9th September 2012 10:56 PM

In Twitter if I've well understang she said she is going to immerse in the spirit of rock watching GLAY lives

Andrenekoi 9th September 2012 10:59 PM

The last time she tried to immerse in rock, we got sunrise, sunset, SLT, the meaning of LOVE... :P

And a lot of her big hits have enough rock influences to work on this festival context...
