Information from before the release was confirmed
Spoiler:

If this ends up being a rumor, please move this to the rumors thread in the chat room, but it seems VERY likely to be true. The timing fits in with the Tales of Xillia 2 release and also would allow for DLC to be included. Would be interesting if she was trying to keep a four letter theme with her minis as well [FIVE / LOVE] perhaps with a similar design for the title/logo?

About three hours ago in Japan, a tweet was posted by a longtime Ayu fan saying that a new project of five continuous releases was starting for her 15th anniversary.

Quote:

romi0603 (ヨシカ) 9/24 21:39:31
RT @teammaruko: 浜崎あゆみ、15周年目前に5枚連続リリース‼第一弾は「LOVE」ミニアルバム11月8日。 らしいです!
It's not confirmed just how 'true' this is but it seems pretty legitimate considering the source. I do wonder why the tweets were all deleted though. It was later reposted at the 'Foraver Club' on Facebook, the place that initially broke the Song 4 u news a day or two before the release. Wonder where they found their information for that though.

It seems she deleted her initial tweet due to this:
"すいません、まだ公式じゃなかったみたいなので一旦消しますね。"

It did not seem official to her? Or it wasn't supposed to be released?

An update:
It appears that this information was posted on TeamAyu and then quickly pulled from the site due to being up too early. If you remember, "GUILTY" had a tracklist originally posted a LONG time ago and it was removed from the site for a few days before being posted for real. No one thought it was real because it seemed so ridiculous and then well... we got it a few days later and people couldn't believe it.

Can't wait to get my hands on my CDs!

brener 18th October 2012 06:06 AM

its so ridiculous that this "maxi-single" is being called an mini-album...

im still not over it.

truehappiness 18th October 2012 06:13 AM

I would just forget about what it's called. I mean, I'm just glad we're getting new stuff. Yeah, she's had maxi singles before that were about the same amount of tracks with remixes and instrumentals... but there's no use in continuing to say "That's a single! NOT AN ALBUM I HATE AVEX I HATE AYU WTF" when this is pretty much a reality and coming out in less than a month.

brener 18th October 2012 06:15 AM

im happy we're gettin new stuff, but its still being ridiculous, i mean, we all know this is not a mini-album...

Luther10 18th October 2012 06:18 AM

Even if it's called a maxi single, Oricon will still count it as an album, so...

kotora 18th October 2012 07:33 AM

Yaya. Missing will have PV instead of Meow-oly.

love in music 18th October 2012 09:39 AM

I just listened to the live rips of the new songs & I don't like Melody at all. It never really goes anywhere. I also find it odd she sounded the worst in that song live when it is the easiest to sing out of the 3 haha.
Song 4 U and Missing are really great songs though. Can't wait for the full studio versions :)

Delicious n Bold 18th October 2012 01:16 PM

Everyone seems so divided with Melody.
It's definitely one of 'those' songs. We heard the song in full on YouTube, right? That live version was the full, wasn't it?

Jawdarna 18th October 2012 01:51 PM

^ I didn't like it when I first heard it. NOW I LOVE IT.

I thought, "Here we go again, another mundane filler ballad."

Oh, how wrong I was.

I mean, yeah, we get Ayu's 'sweet' ballads all the time, but they've been sub-par lately. And by sub-par, I mean they've been amongst the most boring, 'filler like' on her recent albums.

I think this one has been arranged really well. If we're considering 'sweeter' ballads, what is better than it? In my opinion, certainly not meaning of Love, how beautiful you are, Letter, call, Sweet Season...

Not good? The sales for Tales of Xillia were around the third best in the franchise's history at around 600-700k total. It's doing VERY well for a Tales game. It was also the highest sales for Tales ever since 2002/2003.

To put it into perspective, the sales Xillia had put it in the top 10 of highest selling games in 2011.

What's not good? The sales will be good if the game manages to sell even 1/2 of the original...

truehappiness 19th October 2012 01:36 PM

Also, it was overlooked that on that chart that Xillia 2 is #1 in preorders.

I feel like it should ALSO be mentioned that there's a weird point system that people use to 'calculate' preorders at Amazon.co.jp and that the numbers are not necessarily indicative of 'actual' sales.

Delicious n Bold 19th October 2012 02:43 PM

I was just going by what the chart at the bottom said.
How am I supposed to know what the numbers 782 and 415 mean? The second game just looks like its gonna sell less so I thought that was bad. Wouldn't anyone here think that's bad?
And I have no idea how much the first game sold. Not a clue.
So excuse me if I don't know these things.

EDIT:
... And I just bought the album on CDJapan. Finally! EMS to get it here ASAP. I can't wait. Now I'm not gonna download leaks.

I think it's good in the long run, but not good because a squeal should do better then the first game.
But over all, yes its doing quite good.

If you don't know those things maybe you shouldn't make assumptions? At least not without gathering all the facts :) I don't expect the second game to do better than the previous one. But selling over 400k is great.

I didn't expect my helping of TeamAyu2004 (by providing him a link) to escalate into a little unsavoury quarrel because I said two words 'not good'.

But I am free to make flop assumptions if I want. Unles I was perfect. Then I would be making accurate assumptions.

truehappiness 20th October 2012 07:40 PM

It'll probably do fine, as it's selling rather well in Japanese online retailers. Though it probably won't get to the 740,000~+ that Xillia did.

Keiichi_JPU 21st October 2012 01:31 AM

So how do we think LOVE is going to sell? I'm tired of Namie / Kumi stans (not on this forum but elsewhere) calling her a flop! 'Floppy Queen' still hurts my heart. Unfortunately I don't think she's going to sell big again until she drastically changes her sound, and LOVE sounds quite typical Ayu. Which for me personally is great because I love her, and as long as the songs themselves are great, I'm very happy! Unfortunately lately they haven't always been (I'm looking at you, FIVE).

Title track, Eyes, Smoke, Magic, the next LOVE, even HBYA is quite different.

i just listened to the previews (after a long time) ahha.. i gotta say Song 4 u is my fav followed by Missing and Melody..

and will there even be a booklet? for something that only has 3 new songs.. my guess is even there will be a booklet, its gonna be similar to that of Love songs.. both just give me the same vibes.

Party queen and hbya weren't that new nor different. ESM and tnL were random experiments (kinda like Sexy little things and Don't look back). It's not like her whole album sounded like those 2 tracks. So you could hardly say that her sound has been completely changed. As imo the songs that dominate the album do posses the Ayu fragrance.

tiffanytgs 21st October 2012 10:18 AM

"Missing" is so ayu~ for her new release i love this most =x

Isicio 21st October 2012 12:39 PM

Melody and Missing are Love songs style of songs

Delicious n Bold 21st October 2012 04:34 PM

I think that Melody and Missing could easily sneak onto Love songs' track list.
Melody might sneak up next to Sweet Season and Missing might sneak up next to Sending Mail.

Corvina 21st October 2012 04:51 PM

From the live rips I like Missing by far the most... the other two sound a bit boring.
But they do sound like something from Love songs.

It was looking like it, but she didn't pull through in the end. The mid-section of the album (Call ~ Tell Me Why) is Ayu by the numbers, and actually my favourite bit of the album. The party songs at the start are different, but the problem is that they're not good. I don't know why! We know she can make brilliant dance songs because she gave us Sparkle / Last Angel etc. And let's not even talk about those awful musical songs.

Gosh I sound bitter! haha. I still love here but lately it's almost like she just thinks "LOL let's try this music style" and hires the cheapest producer she can find. However, to end on a positive note, I like the sound of Song 4 u very much and with 5 releases coming up I am absolutely sure she's going to bring us some great music. Bring it on my queen <3

Yeah... Party queen wasnt that different... Esm and the next love were different but the album over all was very Ayumi.

Honestly I think all of it is very un-Ayu. I can never get why people say Call / Letter are Ayu because I can't even stomach any bit of those two songs.

Anyway, I kind of like how Melody sounds

I really need this to hurry up and come out.

Delicious n Bold 21st October 2012 06:02 PM

^ it's not exactly the same but they're two powerful songs, you see.

I also need this cd ASAP. That's why I chose EMS. They're gonna pack the CD before its official release and it'll be here in a lightning bolt.
Like with Angela Aki's BLUE: it came the DAY BEFORE! I was dying. They packed it about 5 days before its scheduled release (July 18).
The funny thing is that I downloaded the album online cuz I couldn't wait anymore and once the album finished downloading, the mailman came with my cd. Howly Mowly.
If this cd comes on the 7th (Wednesday?) I'm gonna flip out.

I don't know I feel like any number of those 'rock' songs could of easilly fit on missunderstood or My story or even secret or guilty...
I think they are very very ayumi.

I should of also added nanana on the list of not very ayumi.

First thing I thought when I heard Call (for the first time).

Zeke. 21st October 2012 06:27 PM

Lol, MY STORY is my favorite Ayumi album and I cannot hear it on MY STORY at all! It's too American hum-strum or something. MY STORY is full of fierce in-your-face rock / edgy songs (GAME, About You, my name's WOMEN), beautiful ballads (Moments, walking proud), mellow orchestral sadness (HOPE or PAIN, HAPPY ENDING), and bittersweet reminiscent music (winding road, Replace). It's a very sad album, except maybe HONEY. Call on the other hand, is like a campfire song with weird chants thrown in during the chorus. That guitar strum intro is so un-jpop and so un-Ayu. Almost Michelle Branch-type stuff, which I never liked.

TeamAyu2004 21st October 2012 06:37 PM

^ lol... I fell in love with ayu because I felt like she had a very western feel to her.
Very un-jpop. Almost the best of both worlds.

I think the problem is (and dont take this the wrong way) you just have my story up on this high pedestal.
Its a very good album, but you can't compare everything to that one album (not that you did this time, but I did).

Delicious n Bold 21st October 2012 06:42 PM

To be honest, I think Call is just a lesser version of About You.
Not that it's a bad thing. I just like About You much more.

TeamAyu2004 21st October 2012 06:44 PM

^ I love call and letter...
Call is very Micheal Branch..,. and is amazing... I get feelings from those two songs that I haven't gotten from ayumi in a long time.

I have stopped hoping for another MY STORY after Rock'n'Roll Circus was drawing comparisons early on... and I was depressed at the final result. Lol.

But yes, I think I finally realized that Call is so Michelle Branch and I always hated her music (sorry). So it makes sense that I'd hate Call.

Ayu does have a powerful difference in her music but the melodies are usually so J-Pop I could never imagine them on actual American radio.

My thoughts exactly + that's my fave part of the album as well.

Am I the only one who really likes ESM and TNL?
I just love how they're so different.

Love 'em too ! :P

And I think that call/Letter are really similar to Last Links (maybe because of the guitars...)

TeamAyu2004 21st October 2012 08:19 PM

^ I sure for the type of music they are they are great.
I font like that kind of music, so they are horrible to me.
Her voice is decent, but the music is just...
BLAH!

I will say, it might be better as a show... watching her on DVD might make me love the song because those types of songs are supposed to tell a story... thats why they are part of shows... just a song by itself is horrible.

Hardly.

I like the songs a lot. They aren't my faves as imo nothing comes close to reminds me and Return Road, but I like that Ayu gave it a try. And ESM is just awesome live!

There's 11 days left till the release of this mini album “LOVE”. And, for the PVs...I think...they might air it on TV as a short versions, again. No doubt about it :yes

Also,
I hope...there's a huge promotion for this mini album!

You mean 18 days? :P
And wasn't it so that the PVs for FIVE and Party Queen were never released in "short versions", but in full? In any case, I also hope that there will be good promotion for this album, I want to see more of Ayu!

I can't believe is almost November.
I can't wait to see the single.

I honestly hope avex dropped the whole short PV. idea for good even though You & Me did have a short ver.

Pieces_of_SEVEN 21st October 2012 10:26 PM

Ah it's gonna be out before we know it! I still can't get a real feel for the songs from the live rips. I can't wait to hear HQ studio versions!

emi♡ 21st October 2012 10:28 PM

Call and letter being akin to MY STORY is weird to me.

For me, those songs are more of the tradition that she brought along during the Secret-Guilty phase, and just kept up...having these sort of acoustic-y songs.

Like Life or last links. You see them every now and again. Of course the songs don't really sound the same...but they have that simple rock flavor, and for me, Melody is probably going to fit in with them too...but I guess we'll see.

And seriously, these short versions, or youtube versions can gtfo. Youtube version for You and Me was awful.

I adore those tracks. I can't agree with people saying the midsection is Ayu by the numbers, I think surprise and reinvention is really what Ayumi is about, while songs like call and Letter are nice and all, but really just Ayumi playing it safe in songs that focus on lyrical expression. TNL and ESM will always stay in my memory as musical career highlights, I know many people disagree, but I live for those songs!

Pieces_of_SEVEN 21st October 2012 11:00 PM

^I think you two are one of the only ones who like those songs...lol I know I really don't like them at all. Never even listened to them in full. :/

I don't think so. I noticed that, while the midsection of the album tends to be the favorite part for Ayu fans, every single casual listener I made listen to the album liked the other sections more(while usually still pointing out Return Road and reminds me as great tracks though, it's just Tell Me Why, call and Letter that people tend to ignore). Of course that is in no way a sample big enough to get to objective conclusions, but it did make me think. It seems to have to do with expectation and alienation really. People that go into "Party Queen" not knowing Ayumi yet seem to think about it VERY differently from long-term fans.

Pieces_of_SEVEN 21st October 2012 11:19 PM

Tell me why is one of my favorites! Maybe you're right, I just know that I don't like them at all.

Very interesting though, about long-term fans and new fans different perceptions of certain releases.

Delicious n Bold 21st October 2012 11:21 PM

What about PQ the title track? Is it loved?
My sister, a casual listener, LOVES party queen. She sings it all the time.

Pieces_of_SEVEN 21st October 2012 11:26 PM

Personally, I enjoy it. I'd say 7.5/10. I think ya gotta understand the whole concept behind PQ to appreciate it more though.

I will agree they are "simple rock flavor"ed, but I totally love Life and I also really enjoy Last Links... just not those two on Party Queen. They are just, no there for me.

Could just be to do with the fact that as Ayu fans, we've heard tracks like Return Road with over dramatics on pretty much every album since Duty, and got a fair share of midtempo rock MY STORY to last a lifetime. This isn't considering lyrics, as I imagine the sample didn't include people fluent in Japanese.

...and that, really, while ESM and TNL are fun songs that are different, neither live up to real West End or Broadway tracks, and neither are they creative enough to be fun jazzy experimental tracks.

I personally think PQ is just as by the numbers as Secret, or Rock'n'Roll Circus, or NEXT LEVEL - it was just worse because I thought FIVE and Love Songs had kicked her out of that. It's not as bad as the main offender RnRC, but it was bad enough to make me roll my eyes and think I've heard it all before - sans ESM and TNL.

Pieces_of_SEVEN 22nd October 2012 12:55 AM

Yes! Love count down!

Zeke. 22nd October 2012 12:56 AM

count down grew on me a lot I really like it, especially R'n'R Circus Tour LIVE version!!

Jawdarna 22nd October 2012 01:14 AM

That's always been something that interests me about Rock 'n' Roll Circus.
It's a great album really.
There's only two songs on there that I truly do not like (Lady Dynamite/meaning of Love - they're just not memorable for me).
It just has a terrible, terrible setlist like Rainbow (if that makes sense?)
Seriously, Free & Easy JUST after Real Me?
It's not structured well.

I felt like Party Queen suffered this a bit too.
It's great to have diversity in albums.
But too much and it seems to end in disaster.
I mean, compare ESM, to HBYA, to NaNaNa, it's ridiculous. XD

I think that LOVE is going to work really well as you can hear the relation between the songs, but there is still substantial difference between them.

pepper 22nd October 2012 02:05 AM

I like that Party Queen have only 1 ballad, and every song is diffrent from each.

and I love/like ESM and tnL. Maybe tnL isn't even my top 30~~ but ESM is brilliant song.

I like when her experimental tracks (not a ballad or a mid pop/rock like Life, momentum, Sweet Season, Missing etc or generic rock/angst or happy guitar flavor song - Last Links, call, (miss)undestood, It was etc or "happy bubblegum pop" like BF, BB, or glitter) goes in "ayu" way - like Sparkle, ESM, Pride/tnL, Sexy little things etc - they are "unique" and you can't compare em to any specific genre or similarity to other artist - I don't like when experiment goes in "western" way like You & Me. Ayu is not even unique because shes japanese/asian (it's same with KPOP - it does have very common beats/arragments with Western music, but in the end it's - KPOP and it's unique - because of music elements, lyrics and language). Ayu is unique cause she is Ayu, and there is like no other artist (japanese, western, any) that have any in common with Ayu - sometimes they share similar arragments/music genres but she make the genres very her own (it's like "it's not a rock really - it's a Ayu-rock") I like those experimental genres she could sound "Ayu-jazz" "Ayu-dance" etc. You & Me genre doesn't fit her (IMHO). But "call" sound a bit like western poprock song, and still have the "Ayu-element" in it.

JackieRos 22nd October 2012 03:15 AM

some people like songs that no one else likes.
I really like love refrain and everywhere nowhere.

and oh yeah it's a single
