Not surprising at all. Sucks that all these bests have to come out, but what can you do? At least she's the highest in terms of 'new' music? If she were releasing in another week, she'd probably be fine but the end of the year is always so crazy, agh.

My story: one of the lowest ratings on the list and sells te most of all the albums on the list (in Japan).

Interesting titles for BEST albums.

Ayu is doing great now considering she is a solo singer who has been active for the past 13 years.

Well, if it wasn't for the BEST albums, she'd be number one. Let's take comfort on that :)

Well, considering the amount of best albuns on the list, and one belonging to EXILE, the #3 is actually quite good for a mini-album with only 4 new songs + remixes :)

I think it's not huge battle chart since 3 above ayumi is the best album not new album. With the word "BEST" they tried to get number 1. Again is new album. So even ayumi in the 4th place she is still number 1 in new album term, not in "best" album aka compilation from exile or yui past single. So yeah still ayumi is number 1. it looks like exile and yui is afraid battle against the queen of jpop, so they release the "best" album to win the battle hahaha. ****** with their best album, and ayumi you are the best

Big Bangs mini album is just a rerelease of songs that have previously been released, yeah? It had like solo songs from each member or something like that...

They're popular, but they're not the type of boy band Japan eats up because they don't look like girls :-p I kid I kid.

Considering the competition, this is great to me.

YUI is also going on a hiatus (apparently she may come back later but not as YUI) so that could help her.

not only is again going up against 3 albums, it is also going up against matsutoya yumi's 3rd week on the charts (her 40th anniversary best album is selling really well tbh) and mr. children + SNSD's 2nd week on the album charts

Mmm, unfortunately, Mr. Children will probably outsell Ayu as well, so she can only really hope to get #5 or #6 at the highest?

Well since YUI's going on a permanent hiatus or w/e it makes sense her releases would shoot over Ayu's. I have no excuse for EXILE besides people having lame taste in boy bands lol

I already expect again will not be able to get #1 since ayumi's up against EXILE's latest best album & 2 best albums from YUI & it's already known very early in advance the chances of again to get #1 is pretty much zlich

The only competition she has for the #4 spot is mr.children's 2nd week sales, which will probably be around 80-100k maybe even more. again might not even get #4

it would be #3 if it was released as a single....

are you sure ? next week for both singles & albums are super tough if not very competitive

if they sell in shops earlier, does that mean that shipping would be adjusted to suit the shop schedules? the official date IS still 8th i know but..lol...seeing how the CD is selling earlier kinda defeats the purpose hahaha..so the 8th is just a symbol

Matsutoya Yumi's BEST album could also outsell again. It's already sold more than 100k copies this week alone. I'm expecting to maybe drop to 60k next week at the most.

She's probably the only one from that era doing better than Ayu at the moment, but she wasn't doing too hot for a while in comparison to Ayu until about 2006~2008.

It sorta helps that most of her music is incredibly radio friendly while what Ayu has been doing recently... not so much.

a new best album that was released last month. Ill have to take a look at it (or at least a listen)

Namie had a new style no doubt. It was fun and experimental esp during PLAY and it really revived her career. but as for radio friendly, I think Ayu has some VERY radio friendly songs! esp more so in the recent years? Letter, call, Why, Melody, meaning of Love...those songs are so pop and J-POP japanese should love..like BLUE BIRD, Days, Sunrise. Just because they arnt main hits and single A-sides..they get overlooked by the general public and i doubt radio stations play these songs so often. and I guess thats the problem without releasing singles.

I'm talking about Yuming's BEST album that was released last week. Of course she has longevity, but I feel her new album will also, knocking again to fifth place behind EXILE, YUI's two albums, Mr. Children, and if course, Yuming. It would sad if SNSD somehow beats again also....

It's not avex but Ayu wants to celebrate her 15th anniversary, so every releases until April will be out on 8th.
