Move over Kyary, avex releases a new ultimate weapon!
 

A new Popteen magazine model is going to debut under avex, named Shiina Hikari aka Pikarin. As a model for Popteen, she is a gyaru, however, unlike many gyaru, she is a fan of anime and visual kei. Her debut single Shinryaku Pikarin Densetsu☆ will be released Dec. 12 in both CD and CD+DVD formats. More info can be read here.

I really like her, and I've seen people on different forums compairing her to Kyary for being a model/harajuku style/similar makeup/similar sound. She does kinda seem like avex answer to Kyary.

No way I'm moving over Kyary for her, Kyary is way cuter, her songs way more addicting, and her PVs not as cheap :laugh

Interesting. She is like Kyary...only garish, annoying sounding, and quite ugly tbh. Production also seems lacking. Then again, everything plagiarized by avex always turns out cheap and desperate looking. But I guess avex just couldn't resist adding a weirdo-model-turned-singer to their collection of copycats...she will forever be known as the cheap counterpart to Kyary Pamyu Pamyu in the same way that Super Girls is the cheap analog to AKB48.

This, this, this! Never liked the "let's dress crazy so people recognize us for it" style.

Actually, a lot of artists do this so people will find them unique and then they can get attention based on their style. It's overused now, though. I remember judging Nicki Minaj based on her style "Wow, is she really that desperate?". But then I heard her music and thought "Wow, why is she even trying to cry for attention through her clothes when she's such a great singer?" Simultaneously, I had the exact same thought about Lady Gaga before I heard her music.

The same can be said about Kyary, actually. But her style is more of a culture rather than screaming for attention. It fits her. I'm not saying she gets away with it because she's Asian, it's just that her style existed in her area so it's more understandable why she's styled like that.

Honestly, I would have said the same about Kyary back in the day. But, we see how wrong I was. Pikarin has a sizable fanbase from being a Popteen model, so it could happen. I don't doubt she could flop, but it may happen. The song, if I remember correctly, was created by some vocaloid guy, kinda like Kyary and the Perfume guy.

^ i dont follow Kyary enough to give a really good thought about it... but her last single and album did rather well, didnt it?

And her being a popular model could help her too, because all her fans will most likely buy the single, but it just depends on how many fans she actually has.

I think if avex plays it right she could be big, but its like that with any artist really... as long as you play to your strengths its all gold.

Well, that was quite bad. She does remind me of a bad copy of Kyary, but needs too much work if she wants to make good music.

There's something about her that I like. I hope she does well; although no one will ever be quite like Kyary, this girl has her own charms. :yes

don't think she will replace her, Kyary success as of late is due to companies pimping her out as the newest gimmick to sell thing, PonPon flopped nicely last year even tho it was viral hit wasn't till she got so many CMs that people started to notice her

and I don't think avex is gonna invest that much in anyone new anymore, learned their mistake from the floptastic debut of Iconiq and GND's record breaking sale shrinkage

^avex hasn't promoted their female singers in forever and a lifetime. Look at floptastic mini, Miray and sifow.

I watched the pv and it was terrible, I always hated that kind of cutesy voice.

i wanted to like her...but this was pretty terrible. i like the goth/cute stuff, but everything else is bleh.

Well, its only her first single and she's only turned 17 this year. She still has a lot of time to find her sound. If she doesn't get dropped first. Perhaps her next single more people will like.

Im kinda hoping this does well because I want to see what else she can do.

^Glad you like them! I love vocaloid but I get what you mean. I listen to it a lot but I've also grown used to the sound. And I know most people haven't. I love Kyary and I like Popteen, so I fan of her as a model already. I actually saw this video the other day and liked the song, so I'm interested to see what she releases next. :) Which is kinda a surprise that I like both since I'm not into the 'cutie-high-pitched' acts usually :laugh

To be perfectly honest, I don't know who's doing PVs for Kyary or generally who's managing her at Warner Japan, but Avex should be learning from them in (video) direction and art direction department. Seriously.
