Ayu demos or unreleased?
 

Are there any? I never see this for any Asian artist except for some 2NE1 demo, Bommerang =p

I've heard mp3 leaks of demos by Do As Infinity, B'z, Shiina Ringo, and L'arc... never Ayu though. It's upsetting! Many of us would LOVE full versions of some of her songs as they appeared in old CMs, especially the raw rock version of "still alone" and the slowed-down version of "STEP you". But alas, it has not happened. :(

They're probably locked in some A Vault, which stinks. I bet her demos from way back when are amazing... and even the recent ones. I want to hear the CREA that was going to happen before Rule and Sparkle outdid it.

Sweet season, the version of the leaked 1st version of the video could be a demo of the song, sounds different, but I don't know if that version was released before or was leaked because of the video too :)

Wasn't there some controversy about GREEN too? Something about how the version on the CM was more rock-ish than the version we have now.

I don't need that trash version of STEP you - it sounds horrible. But I wouldn't mind the other songs in their CM format.

And funny, 'cause I was just thinking about that CREA track today and when Ayu blogged she had submitted one. Alas, it never saw the light of day...

The CM version of Step You sounds brain dead. Its so slow and sounds like it had a stroke.
But I'd LOVE to hear the still alone demo!

That could actually be a great 5th release, but it will not happen til Ayu retires or dies probably :(

It would be amazing to know just how many songs she actually recorded at points in her career though......and see how many CREA songs exist after all. She sometimes mentions recording and composing but it comes to nothing!

I would love to see this happening too, and was actually talking about this, how so many artists must record soooooo many songs that never see any kind of release. I also remember Crystal Kay, by the time the ALL YOURS cd came out how she said in an interview a lot of songs are recorded but it is never her who picks them it was Sony at the time, so in the end a lot of maybe so many goos songs are locked for good...

As much as I love Beautiful Fighters I've always loved the version in the CM more even though it's only 15s.

I miss so much the Panasonic CMs....

It's a bit strange considering north american artists, such as Lana Del Rey as an example, have hundreds of leaked demos. Lana Del Rey seems like not a very long-time artist, yet she has over a hundred leaked demos and songs on the internet.

I would die for the original CM versions of those tracks (specially "still alone").

At least we have the "poker face" demo and the "Sweet Season" demo :D

The CM version of Naturally was better IMO not particulary the music but her voice was softer like the original Still Alone ^^

The way that they distributed Western demos vs. Eastern ones (a lot of K-Pop demos are done by European producers) could have to do with it... so we get leaks from certain channels here while things are behind more closed doors in Japan.

I'd like to hear the full version of INSPIRE orchestra version in the Guggenheim Japan CM.

Didn't she say petal was a song produced a while back? and only recently she wanted to use it in LOVE again? I can't remember for sure if it was petal or not, but I remember reading it here in one of her interviews.

It'd be pretty cool to know how many songs Ayu really has recorded. Beyonce recorded over 80 songs for her latest album, could you imagine Ayu's numbers with 14 albums under her belt? :mischief

Yeah, there are probably LOADS of songs that were possibly going to be made or are stored away. In fact, most of LOVE again is made up of tracks that were made a while back. Apparently SAKURA had been arranged/etc. for a long time before it was finally released on LOVE again.

Her SCawaii interview revealed that the following songs were in 'storage' for a while, or she was saving the composition for a bit.
- Wake me up ('kept for a while, wanted to use someday')
- SAKURA ('this song had been lying around, already arranged')
- Gloria ('this song has been the director's baby for 6 years...')

And she seems to hint at petal's potential of being done live in the interview as well.

On top of that, I wonder just how many incomplete CREA tracks there are.

It's true but it's not like they had a choice to put 40 songs on an album lol I'm sure there are tons of amazing songs ^^

Weren't some of the commercial versions released on Mu-Mo? We have a high quality 17s version of Sparkle from that Spark car commercial (even though it doesn't really sound any different from the studio version). I think it was a cellphone only download exclusive or something. I wouldn't be surprised if there were a bunch of commercial snippet songs floating around out there on cellphones that haven't been leaked on the internet yet.

Considering her releasing pace, any song that sounded good enough to be released would already be released.

Sometimes you need more time to finish a creative work, and probably most of her unreleased songs aren't release-worthy yet.

I'd love to hear some of her unpolished and unfinished demos and alternate takes.

One of my favourite Elvis songs is Blue Moon of Kentuky and he has an alternate take that is also really good. Granted it's unpolished but I like it almost as much as the final version.

Hearing some alternate arrangements from Ayu would be really nice :D

so utada is doing a box for her first love special edition where one of the cds is an unreleased compilation. Ayuuu y u nooooo

I dunno. I sort of doubt she has too many almost finished unreleased songs from the past few years considering her working pace now, but I'd be willing to bet there are tons of good songs leftover from her peak era that were really just shafted for slightly better ones or just didn't fit the current project at the time. It's not like they're necessarily not good enough solely because they didn't get released; there are plenty of other factors that could go into it.

Anyway, I'd love to hear some unreleased songs, finished or not. :P I'd just... really prefer them not to be released under the guise of a brand new album again. I pretty much see LOVE again as an "unreleased songs compilation" anyway, since half that album is confirmed to be leftovers from other projects and the other half sounds pretty much the same >_>
