Hey I guys I just see this live perfomance : http://www.tudou.com/programs/view/WrSttisgrls/
I didn't know that Seiko covered a Madonna song !! and it's very good IMO ! though I think she lip synched the whole performance ^^

TeamAyu2004 22nd May 2013 10:58 PM

I thought she had an album in 2012? No....
Mn, its been while, lol.

I cant believe ayumi is going the way of Seiko! albums, no singles... lol

Yoake 23rd May 2013 11:53 AM

^Seiko releases singles again. The last one is Lulu that was released yesterday:
http://www.cdjapan.co.jp/detailview.html?KEY=UMCK-9618

mizuki-7: you made a mistake in the first post. A Girl in the Wonder Land'll be release on 2013/06/05. The 22nd May is the release date of the single Lulu & the date on which the new about the new album was posted on her official website.

mizuki-7 23rd May 2013 12:04 PM

^
Yes sorry I fixed it =)

TeamAyu2004 23rd May 2013 12:37 PM

lol. wow, 1 single a year since 2010... the woman is on a comeback! LOL

Zemus 23rd May 2013 09:31 PM

Thanks for creating a new thread. Great job on that.

Did you guys know that she will perform at the Nippon Budokan arena for the 100th time this summer? That's a huge number. By far the most done by any female performer and second most all-time I believe.

It's not like she has been away... ever. Expect maybe briefly in 1985~1986 (wedding, maternity leave etc.). But even back then she performed at the annual Kouhaku Uta Gassen and appeared on variety TV.

Wow 100 times ! it's a lot I don't even know if Ayu has performed there once ? it's strange because the capacity is pretty big 15 k !

TeamAyu2004 23rd May 2013 11:26 PM

Dont get me wrong, I love the woman... but I like my jpop like every other month LOL...
But it seems like now she is just doing music because: 1. Thats all she has left (not in a bad way). 2. Because she can.
Which all in love I like. LOL

mizuki-7 24th May 2013 09:11 AM

She released albums like an excuse for touring imo ^^
I know her since several years I only like her 80's songs because they are the most well known but yesterday just for curiosity I searched what she has done in the 90's when she became less popular and I'm very suprise XD

The image I had of her was that of a silly girl (not in the way stupid but more like a naive & innocent girl) and when I saw her performance of her song "I want you so bad!" Wow I was shocked I didn't know she was a good performer & dancer like that -_- very provocative and outrageous for a japanese singer at that time ! Lyrics are also very suggestive ! We can really see that she was very influenced by western singers particulary Madonna it's very obvious !

Zemus 24th May 2013 10:31 AM

Talent agency Sun Music chairman Hideyoshi Aizawa passed away yesterday at 83 years of age. He is the person responsible for not only discovering Seiko but raising her to idol fame. When I say "raised", I literally mean it. He even had her live with his family for six months, so that he could teach her proper manners and how to behave during interviews etc.

Other talents that were managed by him include Junko Sakurada, Noriko Sakai, Yuu Hayami and the late Yukiko Okada.

R.I.P.

Ayu has never performed there. I have been curious about why that is too. Perhaps the layout never suited her needs? The stage is a bit closer and not to mention in the centre compared to other venues.

Zemus 25th May 2013 09:37 AM

Sorry for double post.

Just FYI, LuLu!! single has leaked on the net.

Noriko Sakai attended as well. The media were all over that, cameras flashing like crazy. Understandably because she hasn't been that much in public since the scandal(s). She and Seiko got most media attention, that's for sure.

Again. Thank you to Mr. Aizawa and may he rest in piece. Without him Seiko might have never debuted.

Oricon Weekly Albums
5 - ● A Girl in the Wonder Land 13,954 13,954 13/6/5 UM
鬆田聖子 5 1

So happy with this position and sales! These are her best first week sales in a long time. :D

Damita 12th June 2013 06:23 AM

Wow, good sales! But I think she managed the same sales about with the past couple albums, hasn't she? My Prelude did 13k too, though this sold a little more than that did so technically you may be right, it may be her best first week sales in a while.

Also, can anyone explain, because I'm not quite sure about this: is she hated in Japan currently? I read reviews for her albums in Japanese and they're always extremely negative, and I can never figure out why. The comments seem more personal than actually they genuinely just aren't feeling the music (or maybe a combination of the two).

mizuki-7 13th June 2013 10:41 AM

^
I think she is more appreciate since a couple of year compared to 10/15 years ago !

You know she was "has been" because of singers like Namie, Ayu, Utada and a lot of other fresh singers lol but also because she was so scandalous than any other J-pop singer so her popularity suffered of that but it's seems now it's far better ^^

Don't believe these reviews ... They are most of the time written by haters when you don't like something you don't waste your time to write a bad review !

TeamAyu2004 13th June 2013 11:19 AM

congrates. I wonder how long it will take ayumi to get to this level? two, 3 more years... lol

Surrogate Mother (aka Sweet Evil or Final Vendetta)

2014 started well. I finally got to see this movie from 1996. Starring Seiko Matsuda, Bridgette Wilson, Peter Boyle, Scott Cohen.
Not exactly the best out there, but an OK thriller, and it was really interesting to see her in a starring role for a US production.

tsumekaze_ 5th January 2014 06:17 PM

the woman is 51 and she looks younger and more beautiful than me. I am 20 for god's sake. WHAT'S YOUR SECRET

Ps. She also looks younger and more beautiful than her daughter. Currently imagining the girl's underlying complexes

I have a US Version of this movie but i don't know how to put it on my computer:(:no:vsad

Zemus 8th January 2014 11:48 PM

@tsumekaze_: Haha, I don't think she minds really. They are on pretty good terms with each other from what I can tell.

@moonLIGHT:
http://www.amazon.com/Sweet-Evil-Sei...ef=cm_cmu_pg_t

Is this the version you have? That image link of yours doesn't work so... Why transfer it to the computer when you can watch it from disc as it is?
But if you absolutely must, then HandBrake software can handle ripping of DVDs. Unless you have a VHS copy that is.

Seiko's and Chris Hart's Kouhaku viewership rating: 47.0%. Tied top 7 with Arashi! Not too shabby. Basically half of the population were watching.
In average, Kouhaku Uta Gassen ratings haven't been this high since 2003!

tsumekaze_ 9th January 2014 11:49 AM

lol, you're right, they do look like they are in good terms! is this man her hubby? they look so good together. Like, they look both so sweet when they smile...and I love the third pic, so much love <3

Zemus 9th January 2014 07:57 PM

Ah, no. Her husband is Japanese. Both are around the same age. Her married life is kept completely private, there aren't any photos of the couple.

Chris Hart and Seiko did a duet as part of the Universal Sigma 10th Anniversary project.

I listened to Dream & Fantasy. Angel and I reach for you are just wonderful!

brener 3rd July 2014 11:21 PM

Angel is one of her best ballads imo, and we can see how it influenced a lot of ayu ballads

khan5 4th July 2014 12:08 AM

which albums would you guys recommend to listen to

brener 4th July 2014 12:18 AM

Start with a best album ^^

Watanabe Miyuki's (AKB48/NMB48) solo single cover jacket. Do we spot a similarity? Haha, kind of nice.

Seiko has stopped doing new years concerts now since 2012. As a result of that, she has now been invited to Kouhaku Uta Gassen two times in a row (something I didn't expect, especially this year). I wonder what she will sing. As surprising as it might seem, but Akai Sweet Pea has never been performed there yet. I wonder if that is a possibility perhaps?

Delicious n Bold 29th November 2014 08:14 PM

I love it when people bring back the 80s.

Zemus 7th December 2014 11:42 PM

In the news this morning. Seiko will headline this years Kouhaku. In other words, she will be the last performer!

She is only the eight female artist ever to do this, and first time since 2004. A great honor.

greggerz189 8th December 2014 02:36 AM

Ahh!!! Great news! That's something to look forward to, for sure!

Who were the other seven female artists to headline?

Delicious n Bold 8th December 2014 04:12 AM

The queen better werk kouhaku.

The news source only listed a select few names. Misora Hibari (10 times, what a legend!), Miyako Harumi and Yashiro Aki.
But I did a quick Google search and found this website (in Japanese).

大トリ (ootori; large bird) is the term for closing act, while トリ (tori) is for the penultimate.

Here is the complete list:
  1. Misora Hibari
  2. Shimakura Chiyoko
  3. Miyako Harumi
  4. Yashiro Aki
  5. Ishikawa Sayuri
  6. Wada Akiko
  7. Kobayashi Sachiko
  8. Matsuda Seiko

Mostly enka singers.

Finally someone good is gonna end SMAP's reign. Lemme jam to some of the queen's songs

What are your favorite tracks?
I think Kaze Tachinu is one of her best tracks, actually the entire Kaze Tachinu album is quite good.

Songs like Nagisa no Balcony and Natsu no Tobira are still so fresh too
and Hadashi no Kisetsu, what a tune!

Hadashi no Kisetsu hands down. Aoi Sangosho is also a favorite, alongside SQUALL (the song and the album)

Natsu no Tobira is really fun too.

Seiko Matsuda Shows Her Mature Beauty in New Bra Commercial

Triumph International Japan’s new lingerie brand “FLORALE by Triumph” will be making its debut in June. The company has selected Seiko Matsuda as its model.

FLORALE by Triumph is aimed towards older women, in an effort to show their beauty. Seiko was chosen for the ad campaign because she is the same age as the target demographic and also because she represents beauty and glamour for that age set of women.

Of the shooting of the campaign, Seiko said that beautiful lingerie is important to women, and that doing this campaign made her happy as a woman. She admitted that she was nervous during the shoot at first, but enjoyed it in the end.

Check out the commercial and ad campaign after the jump!

I don't think that this is her song because :

1. It doesn't sound like her voice
2. It's not the kind of music she releases
3. I think it would be specify in the article if it was her song.

Unfortunately, I can't help you :/

Bara no Youni Saite Sakura no Youni Chitte (Radio rip 2016.08.24)

http://t1.someimage.com/JqYGO9L.jpg
http://www91.zippyshare.com/v/X1VR4jet/file.html

I ripped this from All Night Nippon Music 10 on air yesterday (hosted by Seiko herself). First radio play of the new song.

Beautiful collab with YOSHIKO of X JAPAN. Theme song for TBS drama "Seisei Suruhodo, Aishiteru".
So if you are watching the TV drama, you have probably already listened to the song.

Bitrate is quite low. Please wait until official release next month for HQ.

Single release: 2016.09.21

Well, enjoy!

Yoake 25th August 2016 12:28 PM

Thank you for sharing Zemus. Download it now.

EndOfTheWorld 25th August 2016 08:03 PM

So glad there is a Seiko thread.:heart
This is a slightly higher quality version. Not by much.

Uknow! 25th August 2016 08:53 PM

I can't wait to 21 for good quality, I'm in love with this song ;_; It remembers me to another song but I can't tell which.

Yoake 25th August 2016 08:59 PM

This ballad is so beautiful. Very better than everything on her previous album.

Diego-kun 25th August 2016 09:57 PM

I love this new ballad, it's really emotional! For me it's her best song since Ikutsu no Yoake wo Kazoetara.

I also recommend the tie-in drama "Seisei Suru Hodo, Aishiteru". When I first heard the song in the drama I knew it was Seiko within the first few seconds :D

EndOfTheWorld 26th August 2016 12:51 AM

When I first heard it I was very impressed!
I've felt like for the last few years Seiko has been releasing very standard but decent albums. But this song immediately showed me that it was something more.
It is such a nice ballad with beautiful instrumentation.:yes
But I also feel like it sounds slightly familiar to something I heard before but I think I must be wrong. I don't know.

AyuGAME 26th August 2016 04:25 PM

OH WOW!!! I love the song!!!

I feel vibe of Cecilia Cheung fly me to polaris ost song...

Chiharo 26th August 2016 05:47 PM

Which album by her is your favorite (asking everyone)? I started listening to her with Citron this summer and I was surprised how good the album was. I didn't try much of her other stuff, though. So I wonder how people feel about her music.

Diego-kun 26th August 2016 06:36 PM

^ My favorites from her idol days are Utopia and Candy. If you are looking for something more recent my recommendation is My pure melody. You can also try her latest best album, We Love SEIKO -35th Anniversary.

EndOfTheWorld 27th August 2016 02:42 AM

My Seiko Matsuda CD collection is kind of lacking at the moment.
I have We Are Love and Was It The Future. I would LOVE to have Citron and Precious Moment as well.
I admittedly have not heard every single album of her's but of the ones that I have heard I loved We Are Love the most. Citron is great too along with Windy Shadow. There is just too many.:dead2
What I do is I just randomly buy or listen to her albums since there are just so many.

Miku 27th August 2016 10:11 AM

Bara no Youni Saite Sakura no Youni Chitte (radio rip)
I really love this song :heart

Chiharo 27th August 2016 08:31 PM

I'm genuinely impressed by Seiko's new single. Had to come and share this, as I've always considered her to be nothing impressive. But Bara no Youni is certainly an impressive track. I love the power anthem feel.

Evolution7/4 23rd September 2016 05:31 AM

This summer I got back into Seiko and I have to say 9th Wave and CITRON are my favorite albums! And the UHD bluspec CDs are pure ear candy! 9th Wave is such a summer staple and is a perfect marriage between western 80s synth pop and that sort of romantic early 80s J-Pop.

KuuXAyu-fan 23rd September 2016 06:07 AM

The song has been #1 on Recochoku for two days so far, #5 on iTunes, moved up to #5 on Oricon. So glad the song is a big hit!

She certainly deserves it this time around. She selected a beautiful song, filmed a wonderful PV, and performs this song with class. I hope her next album reflects how timeless this one song appears for her at this time in her career.

Edit: These guys seem to be impressed with it as well. If anyone can give a general translation of what they're discussing during the Bara no Youni clip?

I never bothered checking her, but I like this new song.

Also, last evening I discovered this beautiful song from her:

Diego-kun 23rd September 2016 09:04 PM

The song is doing really well on the charts! I'm really happy because it is a great song although it probably owes most of its success to the tie-in with the drama Seisei Suru Hodo Aishiteru.

If only Ayu would release a flawless ballad like this one and get a tie-in with a popular movie or drama...

I don't think it's lipsync but rather her voice has been edited very heavily as the vocals sound slightly different than the studio version. It's quite annoying as she sounded great unedited at the Japan Record Awards last year.

In other news the single sold 3,854 copies this week bringing the 2-week total to 18,859. Hopefully it can reach 30k+ in the end.

AyuGAME 7th October 2016 04:46 PM

I don't know I feel no different with the studio version at all..even she open her mouth a little bit smaller that she used to..and usually she looks a little bit more focused and concentrate..I don't know feels off to me..

YUKARI 7th December 2016 10:53 AM

I bought her last single! It arrived today. I never thought I would buy smth from Seiko Matsuda, but 2 days ago I went to YOSHIKI's classical concert and he played this song on piano and it was totally awesome. I decided to buy this single as a memory :)

It was like here but much better because it was at Osaka-Jo Hall with Tokyo Philharmonic Orchestra.

I wonder if she performs this song at Kouhaku. I really want her to do it.
