Perfume is a Japanese technopop unit who is considered today to be one of the most popular acts in Japanese music.
In 2000, three young girls formed a group together in their hometown of Hiroshima. They were Nishiwaki Ayaka (A~chan), Kashino Yuka (Kashiyuka), and Kawashima Yuuka (Kawayuka). Because all three members had the Japanese character for fragrance in their names (香), they named the group Perfume. However, before the group could even debut, Kawashima decided to pull out of the project and pursue her studies.
Perfume decided to continue on as a duo but Nishiwaki's mother commented on the lack of power that a two-member group has. Nishiwaki set out to find a replacement, and Oomoto Ayano (Nocchi) joined as the third member. The three girls attended the Actors School in Hiroshima (as part of the inaugural class of 1999) so although it was awkward for Nocchi and Kashiyuka at first (they had never met before being introduced by A~chan), they soon became a tight-knit group.
In 2001, Perfume debuted in Hiroshima with the single "OMAJINAI★Perori". They followed up the release with "Kareshi Boshuuchuu". Both singles were only sold in Hiroshima under Momiji Label. Around this time they also met Mikiko, a choreographer who would go on to coordinate all of the group's dances from this point forward.
In 2003, following their graduation from the Actors School in Hiroshima, the trio moved to Tokyo. There, they became a part of BEE-HIVE (an idol group similar to Hello! Project) and signed with the management office Amuse Inc.. As a part of BEE-HIVE, the trio experienced the harsh reality of life away from home as well as dormitory life. However, they also made friends and learned valuable lessons.
In Tokyo, they also met someone who would become a crucial aspect of their success, capsule's Nakata Yasutaka who would become their main producer. Between the years of 2003 and 2004, they released "Sweet Donuts", "Monochrome Effect", and "Vitamin Drop" under the indies label BEE-HIVE RECORDS. It was also during this time that they had their first 3 live performances. Because the girls were so energetic, fans acquired an appreciation for them. Still, none of their releases became a hit. Not very many people showed up to Perfume's lives and they struggled to build a fanbase. Although the members became distressed by their lack of success, they carried on. Though they were in danger of being dropped, their management office made the choice to give Perfume a major debut.
On September 21, 2005, Perfume made its major label debut under the label, Tokuma Japan Communications. They released Linear Motor Girl, which managed to chart on the Oricon charts at #99.
Two singles, "Computer City" and "Electro World" followed in 2006. Around this time, more people began to notice Perfume through rumors on the internet as well as through YouTube videos. Nakata's unique style led to Perfume being crowned as a "near future technopop unit". However, none of the three releases was a solid hit.
On August 2, 2006, Perfume released Perfume ~Complete Best~ along with a new track, Perfect Star, Perfect Style (パーフェクトスター・パーフェクトスタイル). They promoted the album at small events in stores and on streets, even handing out leaflets to passing strangers. The album reached #33 on the Oricon charts (later climibing up as high as #25 with the release of Perfume's 2nd album GAME). The release of this compilation caused fans to worry that the group's disbandment was near as usually, groups who release best-of albums before they have a major hit are disbanded soon after.
On December 20, 2006, Perfume released a download exclusive song, Twinkle Snow Powdery Snow. The song later appeared on their single, Fan Service [sweet].
On December 21, 2006, Perfume had a live concert held at Harajuku Astro Hall which was later recorded and released as Fan Service [bitter].
While almost all of the other BEE-HIVE members began to get dropped by Amuse Inc., Perfume was given the opportunity to release another single. In February 2007, they released "Fan Service [sweet]" featuring the fun dance track "Chocolate Disco". This was a turning point for Perfume in which their luck began to change. Although the sales for "Fan Service [sweet]" were not stellar, "Chocolate Disco" did catch the attention of an already well-established artist in the J-pop industry, Kimura Kaela. Kimura then played Perfume's music on her radio show consistently. While listening to Kimura's radio show, a commercial director named Akira Tomotsugi noticed Perfume and decided to use the three girls in an upcoming TV ad.
On July 1, 2007, the commercial for NHK's national recycling campaigned aired, featuring Perfume and a new song, "Polyrhythm". The commercial gave Perfume exposure they could have only dreamed of before.
Subsequently, their next live show sold out, Perfume ~Complete Best~ reached #1 on the Amazon CD charts, and Perfume became the first idol group to perfume at the Summer Sonic music festival.
On September 12, 2007, Perfume released their 10th single "Polyrhythm". It reached #4 on the Oricon daily single charts and climbed as high as #7 on the weekly charts. This is noted as the beginning of Perfume's national fame.
In 2008, the group followed up the success of "Polyrhythm" with "Baby cruising Love / Macaroni". The single reached #3 on the Oricon weekly charts and sold 50,000 copies.
On April 16, 2008, Perfume released their first orignal album, GAME. GAME reached #1 on the Oricon charts upon its release, making Perfume the first technopop group to achieve this since Yellow Magic Orchestra in 1983. Amazingly, at the time of the album's release, Perfume ~Complete Best~, "Polyrhythm", and "Baby cruising Love / Macaroni" all re-entered the Oricon charts. The album went on to sell over 450,000 copies and is certified double platinum.
After the album's release, Perfume First Tour "GAME" was announced. The group toured 10 cities and sold out all tickets. On the final date of the tour, Perfume announced that they would be doing a 2-day show at the prestigous Nippon Budokan in November 2008 as well as the release date of their next single, "love the world".
"love the world" was released on July 9, 2008. It became the first technopop song to ever reach #1 on the Oricon charts.
In October 2008, the Perfume First Tour "GAME" DVD was announced. Upon its release, it beat out prominent artists like Koda Kumi and Namie Amuro for the #1 spot.
Perfume then performed at Budokan for 2 days, November 6th and 7th. On the second show, titled "BUDOUKaaaaaaaaaaN!!!!!", they announced a show at yet another famous venue, Yoyogi National Gymnasium titled "Disco!Disco!Disco!".
The year 2008 ended with the release of their 13th single, "Dream Fighter" which reached #2 on the charts.
They were also chosen to sing at NHK's 59th Kouhaku Uta Gassen , the prestigious end of the year live TV program (with A~chan fulfilling one of her lifelong dreams).
On March 25, 2009, Perfume released their 14th single, "One Room Disco". The single reached #1 on the charts.
In April 2009, Perfume began broadcast of a comedy sketch program titled Perfume's Chandelier House.
On July 8, 2009, the group released its 3rd album, ⊿. The album was another #1 hit for Perfume, selling over 300,000 copies. Perfume then went on their 2nd nationwide tour in order to promote the album.
In 2010, Perfume released "Fushizen na Girl / Natural ni Koishite", which reached #2 on the charts. They went on a fanclub-exclusive tour and titled P.T.A. Spring 2010 Tour.
Perfume took part in a commercial for a Pepsi NEX campaign in Japan. In that comercial, they covered a short segment of Lovefool by The Cardigans. Other famous participants in the Pepsi NEX campaign include Koda Kumi and Utada Hikaru.
On August 11, 2010, Perfume celebrated their 10th anniversary with the release of their 16th single, "VOICE".
On November 3, 2010, Perfume performed at the prestigious Tokyo Dome in a special live titled 1 2 3 4 5 6 7 8 9 10 11 in celebration of their 10th anniversary together as a group. Perfume was the first female group to have a concert at the dome since SPEED in 1998 and the 2nd female group overall. Perfume performed in front of 50,000 fans for that show.
On November 28, 2010, Perfume attended the Korean awards show Mnet! Asian Music Awards in Macau to receive the "Best Asia Pop Artist Award". It was Perfume's first overseas performance and the first time that a Japanese artist had attended the awards in person (AKB48 appeared the previous year on the show through a satellite broadcast).
On February 9, 2011, Perfume released their 5th concert DVD, titled Kessei 10 Shunen, Major Debut 5 Shunen Kinen! Perfume LIVE at Tokyo Dome 「1 2 3 4 5 6 7 8 9 10 11」 . It was filmed at their November 3, 2010 Tokyo Dome concert. The DVD debuted at #1 on the Oricon Weekly DVD charts and Perfume became the first female group to have four consecutive #1 debuts on the DVD chart.
On May 18, 2011, Perfume released their 18th single, "Laser Beam / Kasuka na Kaori". The single reached #2 on the Oricon Weekly single charts. It sold over 90,000 copies in the first week, marking the group's best first week sales for a single.
In September they finally announced the release of their 4th Album JPN. JPN was released on November 30th and immediately went to #1 on the Oricon Daily Chart. The album took the #1 spot in the Oricon Weekly Chart of its release making Perfume the first girl group to have 3 consecutive #1 album releases since SPEED.
At the end of February 2012, Perfume announced that they have changed record labels to Universal Music Japan with an intent to enter the global market. They then officially kicked off overseas activities by releasing JPN in 50 countries on the iTunes Store, launching an official global website, and opening an official YouTube channel.
Following the label change, Perfume announced their 20th single titled "Spring of Life". The song was used in a CM for Kirin, which was shot in Los Angeles, California. It was the first time that Perfume had shot a video overseas. The B-Side called Communication is the tie-in for the candy "KANRO Puré Gummy".
On 5th June the official site revealed the release date for the JPN Tour DVD. It will hit stores on August 1st.
In March they also released a tie-in from Kirin with a new song called POINT. The song was used again in may to promote for Kirin. On June 6th another new CM was released including the brand new song Hurly Burly.
Finally on 23th June, after hosting the VMAJ, Perfume announced on their offical site the release of their new single Spending all my time for August 15th. The single will have POINT as well as Hurly Burly as B-Sides.
On July 23, 2012, Perfume announced simultaneously the release of their first global album titled Perfume Global Compilation "LOVE THE WORLD" as well as their first Asia tour, during which the group will make stops in Taiwan, Singapore, and Hong Kong.

1.Forgot to cheer for Kashiyuka finally getting the center spot on a Cover. She is always to the side on her knees somewhere.
2. Song may suck and the chorus may drag on repeating itself for far too long like "Dream Fighter"'s did, but the video looks amazing.

I guess you're right about the chorus dragging longer but I like the song overall. I haven't liked a song by them at all this era. Except mirai no museum which everyone else hated but I thought it gave off a good feeling of happiness. The rest of their releases have been so monotonous. I love the "aaah-ah-ah-ah-ah" parts in this song.

It's boring but they look good. Somehow, the song has grown on me in a very short time. It's like Spice's futuristic offspring only it's more repetitive but it's ok.

I think the PV is absolutely beautiful. Their costumes and hairstyles, although simple, really bring everything out. And all those close up shots, that projection mapping, and the dance...just wow. The song itself is pretty interesting, though I keep thinking of it as I Still Love U pt. 2, haha. I also love how they seem a lot more mature in this era compared to the last ones. I'm totally loving this direction.
Also, the reappearance of kashi's forehead :luv2:luv2. It's been too long.

I just love when that instrument comes in during the beginning and end. Makes it all sound and look epic.
I showed 2 people today the teaser for 1mm and asked them who they favored.
The first immediately said A-Chan was the prettiest and the rest were okay. Da fuq?
The 2nd said they all were ugly and threw up her hands. Then she saw Kashiyuka with the side swoop and said she was the prettiest, but said she hated Nocchi's geometric outfit with all the bunchiness at the bottom and said she looked old.
I dragged her.
Nocchi does look like a toy in that outfit though.

Just saw the video. All imma say is that they wasted that beautiful set with all that walking around. It was like that scene in "VOICE" where they walk amongst their cardboard cutouts, but worse because this set actually could have been used to be something worth it. Not that "VOICE" set.
Disappoint. But that seems to be the theme of this era.

Perfume JPN Review
I’m quite late on this review, but having recently gotten into Perfume’s intricate discography, I think this review is necessary. Perfume’s JPN is very polarizing; it behaves as if its both a best-of album and a full album (it was not promoted as a “best-of” album but rather as a full one). Unlike Utada Hikaru’s last two Japanese albums, which were quite cohesive, JPN is quite messy. It really feels like a splattered mess. I must add that it isn’t because of the sound, but because of prior knowledge of how the album was constructed. Knowledge is power, and sometimes it can subject you to a different way of thinking. In my case, I view it as a mess due to the fact that Perfume apparently make songs for commercials with albums in mind for later (according to Nakata, feel free to correct me). Although I like albums to be made cohesively with a completely finished product in mind, Japan doesn't think so as well. But, that doesn’t mean that JPN is garbage. Quite the contrary, some of the songs that are actually worth your time are actually WORTH your time.
NOTE: I’ve decided to review this album in a polarizing way to reflect how polarizing this album is among Perfume’s fandom: I will only count each individual song I like and divide the total by 14 (the number of tracks in the album). I feel like this method evokes a feeling of “disposable pop album to which you only listen for certain songs (IE Rihanna) or buy one song from on iTunes” but I believe that polarizing albums call for polarizing review methods.
The Opening
The opening didn't impress me much. It was calm, relaxing and I liked some of the chords and synths. But it isn’t a “true song” so I’m not going to count it in the end. (I must impress upon you that LEVEL3’s first song is an actual song. Maybe it’s to counteract those who thought that LEVEL3 is basically JPN2).
Lazer Beam (Album Mix)
I liked the original song for a hot minute during winter 2012. However, I realized that the song stopped giving me “life” so to speak. It started to feel flat, boring and uninspired. Then Nakata brought out the album mix. I really like it. Unlike the original, I can actually handle this song over and over. It sounds great with good headphones. I think I like it because, as I listen to it, I expect the key changes. When they occur drastically at the 1:35 and 2:30 periods, I feel like I’m listening to a badass version of Lazer Beam. It’s like it “matured”. Definitely recommended.
Glitter (Album Mix)
The original song is a song that I liked for 20 seconds then disposed of like Paris Hilton’s singing career. The album mix also changed my views of the song. As I said about Lazer Beam, it feels like the song “grew up”. The extended intro also helps too. That “pikapika” is really cute and adds something new to the song. I know that “pikapika” means sparkle or something in Japanese (like one of those onomatopoeia “gorogoro”, “boroboro” or “dokidoki”), but sometimes it feels like they’re going to use thundershock! I know that I gave this song a bit of praise, but I can’t recommend it. For all the positives that I’ve mentioned, there are an equal amount of negatives: the song drags, their voices (although cute, along with the pikapika) are annoying, and the repetitive tune of the song doesn't blend well with the arrangement and still feels bland to me. Overall, just stick to the Album Mix of Lazer Beam.
Natural Ni Koishite
I’m on the fence with this one. I have it on my iPod, but I never ever choose to listen to it. I was going to tell you what JPN songs I have on my iPod but that means I would give away the entire review. I cannot do that. Natural Ni Koishite is easy breezy and so Japanesy. There’s nothing wrong with the song per say. However, it does tend to drag and it never leaves its “comfort zone” or has any interesting melodies on which I can latch. I removed it from my album as soon as I realized how good Lazer Beam Album Mix was. Skipping this track wont harm you
My Colo(u)r
However, do not skip this song. I paid it dust because I didn't care about the four album tracks for Perfume’s second best album JPN. But then I listened to it and fell in love. I am absolutely crazy for the synths. It does drag but damn, those synths. They blend perfectly with Perfume’s auto-tuned voices. I am not going to pull a Glitter on you and say that I wont recommend it. The song is 100% worth your time and money.
Toki no Hari
This song is as messy as Ayuma Hammysaki’s 15th anniversary celebrations. It should never have seen the light of day. Ever. I can handle cute (kyary pamyu pamyu, utada’s boku wa kuma) but the marching drum makes me want to cry.
Nee
As much as I hate Toki no Hari’s cuteness, I love Nee’s cuteness. It compliments the synths. At least Nakata knows when to compliment the girls’ voices when its time (advertisements, commercials) or during the random stroke of pure luck (Night Flight, Edge, Game). From the bubbly synths to the breakdown at the end, everything is perfect and just works.
Kasuka Na Kaori
This is a song that I absolutely dislike. The title is a different thing altogether, and the kanji in kasuka is visually pleasing. But the song is sleep inducing boring, like most of Lana Del Rey (in my opinion of course). Off to 575.

The haiku song. I love it. I remember when I was asked to write haiku in grade 9 for a project. So I wrote a whole page full of haiku. However, you’re only supposed to write 3 lines. Instead, I wrote about 12-15 singular haiku poems and tried to make it cohesive. I was marked harshly for this, however, as “it’s only 3 lines maximum” and “not writing 3 lines about 12 times”. Nakata did this and I really like it. I like the lyric flow and the bootleg raps that the girls execute very well. It’s a slow jam but it’s not boring per say. It won’t put you to sleep like Lana Del Rey did for me (if you ever need a lullaby, Video Games is your answer, or even 23:20). Highly recommended.
Voice
I’m off the fence with this one, in a good way. I hate the Engrish. I wish that the Japanese would at least attempt to speak English properly (grammar and phonetically). I seriously thought it was “Everything you need to use your voice” but it’s “Everything you need to know. The voice.” They have the actual sounds to make the words, even in a bit of an Engrish way, but whatever. The song is great. The explosive chorus is like a climax every time I listen to it. I never look forward to a chorus in a song, but this song is different. The instrumental is awesome as well.
Kokoro no Sports/ Have a Stroll
I’ve decided to review these two together. I shall keep it short and sweet for you. Both songs go nowhere and they’re very monotone to me. Someone once said that Nakata was asleep when he made this album. Maybe he was. These songs sound like he was being forced at gunpoint to make something before the deadline.
Fushizen Na Girl
Finally something kick ass. One of Perfume’s best songs in my humble opinion. Ignoring the horrid English again (no excuses, we live in 2013 and even in 2010, there was no excuse). I absolutely adore the instrumental. I love the do-do-do-do in the verses along with the subtle lalalas from the girls as well. It’s catchy, fun pop music. Perfume’s Nakata at his best.
Spice
A slice of ethereal, repetitive pop music. This works in its favour, however. The song is just pure bliss to listen to. Even though it’s repetitive, it does not feel that way. They song’s key shifts and subtle blips take your mind off of the slightly interesting lyrics. A great way to end the album.

Perfume's new song "Sweet Refrain" will be used as the theme song for TV Asahi's upcoming drama series 'Toshi Densetsu no Onna 2' (starts October 11).
"Sweet Refrain" was written by Nakata Yasutaka (CAPSULE) just for the drama.

For all the positives that I’ve mentioned, there are an equal amount of negatives: the song drags, their voices (although cute, along with the pikapika) are annoying, and the repetitive tune of the song doesn't blend well with the arrangement and still feels bland to me. Overall, just stick to the Album Mix of Lazer Beam.
Natural Ni Koishite
I’m on the fence with this one. I have it on my iPod, but I never ever choose to listen to it. I was going to tell you what JPN songs I have on my iPod but that means I would give away the entire review. I cannot do that. Natural Ni Koishite is easy breezy and so Japanesy. There’s nothing wrong with the song per say. However, it does tend to drag and it never leaves its “comfort zone” or has any interesting melodies on which I can latch. I removed it from my album as soon as I realized how good Lazer Beam Album Mix was. Skipping this track wont harm you
My Colo(u)r
However, do not skip this song. I paid it dust because I didn't care about the four album tracks for Perfume’s second best album JPN. But then I listened to it and fell in love. I am absolutely crazy for the synths. It does drag but damn, those synths. They blend perfectly with Perfume’s auto-tuned voices. I am not going to pull a Glitter on you and say that I wont recommend it. The song is 100% worth your time and money.
Toki no Hari
This song is as messy as Ayuma Hammysaki’s 15th anniversary celebrations. It should never have seen the light of day. Ever. I can handle cute (kyary pamyu pamyu, utada’s boku wa kuma) but the marching drum makes me want to cry.
Nee
As much as I hate Toki no Hari’s cuteness, I love Nee’s cuteness. It compliments the synths. At least Nakata knows when to compliment the girls’ voices when its time (advertisements, commercials) or during the random stroke of pure luck (Night Flight, Edge, Game). From the bubbly synths to the breakdown at the end, everything is perfect and just works.
Kasuka Na Kaori
This is a song that I absolutely dislike. The title is a different thing altogether, and the kanji in kasuka is visually pleasing. But the song is sleep inducing boring, like most of Lana Del Rey (in my opinion of course). Off to 575.

The haiku song. I love it. I remember when I was asked to write haiku in grade 9 for a project. So I wrote a whole page full of haiku. However, you’re only supposed to write 3 lines. Instead, I wrote about 12-15 singular haiku poems and tried to make it cohesive. I was marked harshly for this, however, as “it’s only 3 lines maximum” and “not writing 3 lines about 12 times”. Nakata did this and I really like it. I like the lyric flow and the bootleg raps that the girls execute very well. It’s a slow jam but it’s not boring per say. It won’t put you to sleep like Lana Del Rey did for me (if you ever need a lullaby, Video Games is your answer, or even 23:20). Highly recommended.
Voice
I’m off the fence with this one, in a good way. I hate the Engrish. I wish that the Japanese would at least attempt to speak English properly (grammar and phonetically). I seriously thought it was “Everything you need to use your voice” but it’s “Everything you need to know. The voice.” They have the actual sounds to make the words, even in a bit of an Engrish way, but whatever. The song is great. The explosive chorus is like a climax every time I listen to it. I never look forward to a chorus in a song, but this song is different. The instrumental is awesome as well.
Kokoro no Sports/ Have a Stroll
I’ve decided to review these two together. I shall keep it short and sweet for you. Both songs go nowhere and they’re very monotone to me. Someone once said that Nakata was asleep when he made this album. Maybe he was. These songs sound like he was being forced at gunpoint to make something before the deadline.
Fushizen Na Girl
Finally something kick ass. One of Perfume’s best songs in my humble opinion. Ignoring the horrid English again (no excuses, we live in 2013 and even in 2010, there was no excuse). I absolutely adore the instrumental. I love the do-do-do-do in the verses along with the subtle lalalas from the girls as well. It’s catchy, fun pop music. Perfume’s Nakata at his best.
Spice
A slice of ethereal, repetitive pop music. This works in its favour, however. The song is just pure bliss to listen to. Even though it’s repetitive, it does not feel that way. They song’s key shifts and subtle blips take your mind off of the slightly interesting lyrics. A great way to end the album.

edit: i just watched the "1mm" PV & it was very nice! perfume were so pretty in the PV and i thought the dancing was very cool! :)

I watched the PV for 1mm and the song got me hooked the first listen. As always their choreography is awesome, haha. PV was a bit boring. Kashiyuka with the side part, so gorgeous!

I love Mirai no Museum... I don't get the hate. The album mix of Magic of Love certainly doesn't improve the song, but when has an album mix done anything for a song? The album mixes on Namie Amuro's Uncontrolled ruined great songs.

The original version of Magic of Love was flawless and one of the only great singles this era, i'm not liking the album mix at all.
Also 1mm is starting to grow on me quite a bit, i live for that "aaah-aaahhhh-ahhhh" in the intro <3

I don't know what to say after listening to the preview, I feel most of the album tracks are soooo album-track-ish which doesn't even get my attention.
I only hooked up by enter the sphere :shrug I thought I hate spending all my time (remix), but listening from the bunch of these new songs make me feel it wasn't that bad.
I'll judge again after the whole album leaked

Enter the Sphere, Sleeping Beauty & Party Maker sounds absolutely amazing (but damn 7 minutes? Someone liked the 20/20 experience a little too much)
It seems like the album really works as a whole, i didn't like some of the singles that much but here they sound very good.
It's a really cohesive release and the songs flow together nicely (with the exception of Mirai No Museum which sticks out like a sore thumb), i'm so excited I NEED IT TO LEAK NOW!

I've heard from some German & French fans that Level 3 will be released in their countries (physical release), so I've started looking some store catalogues from my country and Level 3 is also getting a physical release in Belgium! =D =D
Both the CD only and the CD+DVD versions will be released. The CD only costs 15EUR and will be available from the 21 October. The CD+DVD costs 23EUR and will be available from the 18 October.
I'm not sure why there's a difference in release date, but oh well ... the prices are really cheap compared to the Japanese version. :D :D

I was only excited for LEVEL3 because I was hoping for the Magic of Love remix performed at UMF Korea to be on the album, then after I found out it wasn't I wasn't excited at all because I rarely like Perfume's albums but I'm listening now and my expectations are exceeded omfg

The albums is ok, listened to it while working out today. But, the only song that makes me feel "ahhh~" while listening to from the album is 1mm. It makes my chest feel lifted. Same as Secret Secret, The best thing, I still love U, Nee, Natural no Koishite, 575, and edge (album mix).

The album is really great and sounds incredible as a whole body of work, even the singles i didn't care for before get's some boost now.
I don't get what you all see in Party Maker though, the chorus is great but it drags on for too long and i'm not here for the song being 70% instrumental. Sad cause i was really excited for it judging from the preview, but overall everything is gold and it ranks up as one of their best!
So far i'd say. JPN > Level 3 > Triangle > GAME (yes i find it overrated lol) And my favorites tracks would have to be: Magic Of Love, Daijobanai, Handy Man & 1mm.
Mirai no yeah-no can go diaf, it completely ruins the flow of the album.

Yeah, it's leaked and was uploaded to Jpopsuki a few days ago. :)
The album is good, I like it. Most of the songs are 'growers' - but after a few listens I think it's definitely their best album since GAME.

But canada customs decided to keep it for way longer than they ever have before. I know people don't buy ami suzuki CDs, but for gods sake don't keep in customs to laugh at the fact. Take a pic of it, send the package to me and laugh at it later.

I liked LEVEL3 more than I expected I would. I used to not like Spring of Life and consider it somewhat annoying to listen to on the single, but the album version blew my mind. I kept listening to it on repeat. And I think it might be my favorite song on the album (it would be Spending all my time if the single version made it to the album). Which I never thought would happen.
None of the new songs are my favorites, but they are pretty good. I guess I could say I like Clockwork the most of all new tracks. All in all, I think that single songs were better than the album tracks, but that might be because I still haven't gotten into the album tracks more.
To me, Triangle is still their best album, and I'm still not sure how this one ranks. I thought that JPN was a mess (with a lot of good tracks, but maybe not enjoyable as an album because it was all over the place), even if I never heard any of the singles before I actually listened to the album. Triangle, as an album, was so much more cohesive than any of their releases, and you actually feel like you're listening to an album, not a compilation. LEVEL3 is not as messy as JPN, which I really liked.

LEVEL3 is... Alright. I think the album mixes of the singles were kinda meh, I'm still bummed that Hurly Burly isn't in the album. I think it would fit in pretty nicely tbh. Enter the Sphere and Party Maker are great though.
Also, I would rearrange some of the tracks, especially the middle part. It felt a bit awkward to me. Overall, an okay album. Maybe I need a few more listens to like it more, like some have said.

I like 1mm and Clockwork. 1mm being my favorite. JPN I thought was a huge letdown but that's because at the time of release, the singles were still fresh to me, so I could only really judge my emotions at the time based off of the new tracks. Looking back though, that is a fun album because the singles were just killer. Way better than the singles for this era.

^ I don't think the remix was meant to make it better, but to be different. Kinda like an incentive to by the album because the music is different.
I'm almost done with the album and I have to say... I don't think I like it very much... Not to say its bad... but the best I believe are the singles and then everything else is just there...
I might have to give it another listen through.

Finally listened to the Album earlier tonight. Don't like it. It is bad.........again.
What's up with these instrumentals? Music full of no singing. New song pfft.
And it seems they are sticking with the trend of letting their Album tracks remain irrelevant and basic filler, which doubly hurts when the Single tracks suck and need all the help they can get *COUGH*HelpThemHurlyBurly*COUGH*HelpThem*COUGH*.
"Faeuck Yu Inyuyasha Yo" and "Nap Land" stook with me a little but this Album is still a hot mess.
"Handy Man" is tossing "Hurly Burly" all kinds of side eye for leaving it to carry this whole entire AlBomb by itself.

I'm happy I cancelled my pre-order. I like 1mm and Furikaeru to Iru Yo, but most of the other tracks are pretty underwhelming. If they hadn't butchered SoL and SAMT I'd like it more as a whole, but I still think JPN is a better album.

It seems like the reception for the album is just as polarizing as SAMT's reception: split 50/50.
I've only listened to 9/14 tracks and only hate 2 (mirai and point).

Gotta say the album certainly is a grower. I wasn't so into it when the leak came but now, I'm basically playing it non-stop haha. 1mm is def a fave (Party maker would be too if it had verses and didn't sound like an instrumental...). Furi and Dream land are alright...though what surprised me was how furi was the reggae song they talked about and how A-chan/Noochi hit that high note in dreamland o____o.
SAMT was the best mix (didn't sound repetitive as the original, and wasn't as obnoxious and long as cannes) and Magic of love could've done better if it stuck to the original bridges. MnM def didn't deserve it's place. Poor Hurly Burly :'(.
But yeah. A very cohesive album I must say. It's on par with GAME IMO c:.
