So, it's confirmed that there's no 'making of's either this time? :(

YUKARI 9th October 2013 01:32 PM

tbh I think they could add more backstage scenes/making ofs, may be some documentary or special interview with ayu to make DVD/blu-ray release more interesting to someone who thinks about buying it but hesitates.

asongfor96 10th October 2013 04:45 AM

Is the cover the same for all edition?

jiarongisme 10th October 2013 05:20 AM

Pieces_of_SEVEN 10th October 2013 02:04 PM

So excited to watch the blu ray and relive the concert!

pimenta 10th October 2013 05:46 PM

I really like the cover, it's simple, beautiful, and at least it's not the same image of the promotional pics and the LIVE CD cover again :) (I actually was wondering if they were going to use the same image for the DVD as well)

Livey~ 10th October 2013 06:00 PM

Uhm.. I've just realized that the first track of the DVD/BD is "interlude", and LOVEppears has a track called "Interlude".
I wonder if it's the same track.
Maybe someone who attended the tour can shed some light on this? :lech

Pieces_of_SEVEN 11th October 2013 12:24 AM

^It's not the same, no.

The photobook cover looks great!

I CAN'T TELL HOW AMAZED AND SURPRISED I WAS WHEN I FIRST SAW THE OPENING
IT'S AMAZING!! EVERYTHING LOOKS AMAZING!! :love I don't know how her vocal really is like or how they edited the DVD, but I do hope that it won't sound too polished and we can't hear audience screaming.

People here said the tour was so good, but I didn't expect it to look THIS good!! Also the photobook looks pretty. Looking forward~ :heart

love the preview!
so conclusion, A BEST LIVE = compilation with her:
prev Best stage (CDL 06-07, AT2010),
prev Best trick/prop (magic from AT 2006, cross, swing etc...),
prev Best costume (silver for Memorial address, black for evolution, big dress for No way to say, checkered for Fly high, and that red skintight leather),
and prev BEST song.

Heavenly 19th October 2013 09:14 AM

Do you know if the Limited DVD edition with photobook will be released in HK/TW versions ?
Because I don't really want to spend around €75 for that....

im almost fell off the chair and because my roommate is here i just have to control myself from screaming and jumping like crazy xDDD

i really˛ LOVE it!! the intro to Tell All is just heart pumping! and everything looks great and the pool WOW :luv2

perfectodub 19th October 2013 10:47 AM

i have a lot of her dvds and blu-rays but i'm definitely not buying this one
i'm really tired of this songs on live, the stage actually look very "coundownlish?"
and all over again reusing ideas...the concert look a little bit cheaper
its like a "best of countdown 2006-2007" PART 2

A 3d edition it would have been better, at least the 3d is BIG plus

MissElin_ 19th October 2013 10:58 AM

I think it looks quite flat without SAKURA. The JEWEL-HEAVEN-SAKURA part was the best segment of the whole concert because let's face it, we have already seen almost all the other songs like one million times before. And letting the fans vote for the setlist, naturally that's what we get, so I don't blame them for the setlist. And I don't blame her cutting off SAKURA for all of her reasons but omg the concert now looks flat and repetitive. Because in the other new live song, Tell All, nothing really happends at all. She's simply performing it on the stage. Also no documentary, no extras, no new nothing. So really, too bad.

axmish87 19th October 2013 11:03 AM

I was really surprised when i saw that opening for A song for xx it was really powerful.
The tour is actually like a recap of all memorable performances from other concert tours
and i can't wait to see the entire show.
As for the edited vocals i can't say for sure because i haven't heard her live in person still (will I ever lol) but i guess a few tweaks here and there isn't that much of a problem
The 30th can not come soon enough

Livey~ 19th October 2013 11:14 AM

There's really a little bit of everything in this tour. :yes
The stage is almost identical to the RnRC one, with some changes.
I can see something like do you remember this? It suits the BEST concept, I think. :P

Oh, and vocals don't seem as edited as for the CD, which is good.. or maybe is it just me?

Neko★munication 19th October 2013 11:15 AM

It looks way better than I expected... or I guess that's kind of inaccurate because I already expected it to look better since it always does when compared to the few pics/news clips we get :laugh All to say it looks really great!! I love the use of screens and Ayu sounds and looks awesome.

I don't think it'll beat HLs for me but it still looks like it'll be a blast to watch :yes

I'm pretty sure there would be! avex Taiwan always releases their stuff with photo books if the original Japanese version has it, at least for now :laugh

They didn't release LOVE again with the photo book though, but that's understandable because that version comes with an ayupan figurine. :yes

marty 19th October 2013 11:38 AM

Wha, this tour looks so pretty!
It still isn't nowhere near the last three tours we had, from what I can see (but even Ayu said she felt HOTEL Love Songs was her best tour, and I don't think A BEST was made for competing with that), but it seems neat and lovely. I can't wait to see it! I really loved the SURREAL bit! <3

I kinda agree with this..I feel like all her tours (other than PoM) have followed the same template and formula since 2005..it's time for Ayu to throw everything into the trash and start again like she did then.

:yes
i think next year (after the anniversary) is the perfect time for her to left some old songs and formulas behind. People grow, move on and then they have different perception of life and art. She have to stop talking all over again about "We've arrived on this kind of world (evolution)" or "They always said I was a strong child (a song for xx)" and start finding new slogans as a more adult person.

ohsixthirty 19th October 2013 09:35 PM

The song was composed to her long time friend and driver who was sick and he died, so, she axed it from the tour.

That's a perception of an occidental person.
People in Japan like A LOT older songs of Ayu, and I think that she doesn't want to lose the most part of her audience. The formula she uses is repetitive, but it works, and her Japanese audience is quite satisfied with that.

Weird, so i think Namie's formula is more western than ayu.

I just think that Namie didn't get her audience to a "routine".
She has a different way of working than Ayu :
Namie constantly changes her creative team, she tries new things, surprises her audience, whereas Ayu stays on what has been working for almost 10 years and only makes minor changes at a time.

truehappiness 19th October 2013 11:33 PM

I think it's because Ayu has such a big hand in anything regarding her brand/image and typically is in charge of everything that we don't see as much change. It's a lot easier with an act like Namie imo to switch things up. The same goes for Perfume and some other acts. Unless however I'm wrong and Namie is somehow just as behind everything she does as Ayu is.

Iirc, the song wasn't for him, but he listened to it on his deathbed and wrote about it and I think Ayu started to associate that with him. She never actually gave a reason for cutting SAKURA, but this seems to be the generally accepted conclusion.

I sorta agree, though the past two years - with HLs and more obviously PoM - diverged significantly enough, and her going going back to the usual fare for this tour doesn't perturb me that much, this being a "Best" tour. Part of me kind of likes the formulaic way Ayu's concerts work - I love comparing all her different "cute" sections and all her different "ballad" sections and it makes even the smaller changes more exciting, as well as all the callbacks. Idk, formulaic or not, Ayu's tours have never been boring.

truehappiness 20th October 2013 01:02 AM

Next year should be interesting. I wonder if she'll mix LOVE again and the next album (if it's coming).

Sorry, but I have to disagree... IMO Namie's concert look all the same (and yes, I have watched them).

It's always a stage with a stair (so she can perform a stair choreography), there's almost always a pole (for pole choreography), the outifits are almost always variation of knee high boots + mini-skirts or baggy pants + sneakers and even the setlist is not THAT surprising. I like some of her tours (Past<Future, Best Fiction, Live Style 2, Live Style 1 sux), but I know I will always see the same thing... Namie singing/dancing with the same style of choreography wearing a variation of something she always wear.

Interesting, I've seen just a few of her concerts, i know that she always is trying new songs but her concert visually and choreography are very the same thing.

well, i know this is a special year for ayu because the anniversary thing.
and this kind of years are always about "GREATEST HITS" everywhere.

maybe the CDL of the end of the year it gonna show us some clues about what new things and ideas are coming for the 2014
for me the best of the year was LOVE again album...and the worst...i think this greatest hit cheap tour

I feel the same I couldnt even bring myself to see the last two concerts because even the stage is always forgettable. She always has the same hair styles, similar costumes which look good on her, but you forget them the moment the concert ends...

At least from time to time Ayu adds something that makes me WOW not to mention that Namie is far too robot like sometimes when she is on stage...

Agree so much on this :yes
So far Ayu and Namie had used a kind of same live formula over and over again. Kuu also had done this but she usually twist it a little here and there. Maybe it's because the fact that they tour every year / do live twice a year, the production cost of making new things is more expensive.

I do hope Ayu can give each tour a distinguishable persona with different formula but with the current situation, I'm afraid it's still far from being realized. Still hoping she'll do something new this CDL or next year :)

And my...I prefer the denim hoodie with tie dye colors rather than that tank top and shorts :P
I'm tired of the whole over dramatic acting btw, with her gasping and everything, I mean she doesn't have to do it that often :|

freedreamer 21st October 2013 12:17 PM

Ayu NEEDS to give Bye-Bye darling, petal and untitled 2 their due performances ><
I hope she performs Pray in CDL.

I'm looking forward for watching this tour. Yes, it's a lot of performances she already did before, but it must be super cool to watch all those together in one single concert! It truly is a "A BEST LIVE" concert, the name is actually really accurate :yes

I have to agree, I love Namie, but her tours are barely creative at all... I love some of them (mostly because of the setlist than the visuals), but some others are plain boring imo. Even when people complain Ayu is repeating herself, she is repeating memorable performances that did mark fans before, and that's pretty much why people notice she's repeating, because the first time she did them people were impressed by them and still remember those. For Namie's tours though, very little performances are that memorable that people will complain if she does something similar again (her tours are always similar)...

Musically wise, on the other hand, it's true Namie keeps innovating herself (and herself only, because her songs are getting more and more generic imo), she's constantly changing her songs style (if that's a good or bad thing, that's another story, I personally don't like that super generic pop phase she's in right now). But Ayu's changing as well, if she wasn't people wouldn't be complaining all the time that she should release more songs like her older ones...

I just realized that A BEST LIVE means "A BEST" live version. Like a compilation album being performed. And all this time I've been thinking as "the best live ever" -___- Well now that I knew, I'm just suddenly really eager to watch it!

Some rambling:
Spoiler:
Oh man, I really hope the OS press will produce the photo book. Some Taiwanese fans got a newsletter from avex Taiwan and it lists that it will be available on 11/15, but no mentioning of the photo book. I'm wondering if it's because they classify it as an external bonus that's why they don't include it in the title. It's either that or they don't produce it at all :( But I'm hoping that the former happens! I mean, why else would they take so long to produce it right? They've been producing DVDs really quickly for the past few years. Literally on the same week as the Japanese release.

They only mentioned one version in the newsletter or they mentioned it's going to have a normal and a limited versions? If there's going to be a limited version then that one surely will come with the photobook, but if there's only one version then it's very unlikely to come with the book...

I love her expression on the cover :heart

jiarongisme 22nd October 2013 05:17 PM

They only mentioned one version. I don't exactly know what that would mean in avex Taiwan's perspective. Sometimes they include the limited bonuses in the product descriptions, sometimes it's in the product name. They don't follow the official Japanese listing at times. It's pretty inconsistent. So... Anything could be the case here I think. I would like to be deluded until they put an official listing on their site :laugh I'm just really hoping that it comes with the photo book because I'm a sucker for those.

Yoake 22nd October 2013 05:57 PM

The photobook looks great. ♥

Hm... yeah, but in this case the limited "bonus" makes quite a difference in the price because to get it you have to buy the limited version that has it included, so it's not like the first press bonuses that come for free. Well, I'm just speculating of course, but if it's only one version I doubt the photobook is included unless they make the price higher because of it, because if you have to pay more to have it in the Japanese versions, I guess they would do the same with the overseas versions... It would be nice if they did include it though.

seriously, i really feel its doesn't fair if want compare Ayu tour with Koda or Namie tour, all of their show are identical in their own way own style:
Spoiler:

Koda:
- invite fans on stage do some sexy movement in 1st section
- or invite fans during ballad section for same old song
- mermaid dress for ballad
- dancers battle/showtime then fast song again
- fast song medley to open encore section

Namie:
except Best Fiction tour where she used more props, basically:
- she dance whole show from start till end
- max two ballad section where she just sing alone
- and, long boots is a must for her costumes

Ayu:
- cute song always in 2nd section, with checkered dress :irked
- shuya must dance around when ayu performing ballad
- aerialist end ballad section, acrobatics is a must for recent years
- dancing A for encore
- team ayu t-shirt for encore section
- MY ALL must sing in CDL
- Boys & Girls is a must, and its outro getting long and loooooooooooonger

but you can't denied when Ayu try keep her style, she also try put on effort for new things:

MY STORY tour:
only reveal whole stage after few section, and musical fountain
(miss)understood tour:
start use all LED screen in main stage, magic trick, rain effect
ASIA tour:
big ship appearance, more changes on front round stage (eg Marionette), feather fan dance incorporated with LED screen behind (part of Me)
PCDL:
not only her longest show, but she also performed lots of album or hidden tracks that she never perform before (Over, SCAR, +, etc)
NEXT LEVEL tour:
more cyber feeling on her stage and her costume, performed super old song (eg SIGNAL), and her own photo slideshow for interlude Bridge to the sky
Rock'n'Roll Circus tour:
start introduce special version show to end her tour where she will perform more new song, start use round LED screen also for her front round stage, dancers interlude that interact with backdrop (before Don't look back), funny Gomi interlude with Peco's song THE CABARET performed
do it again CDL:
not only the first time performed on four sided stage, but also the first time have ballad medley, have songs and interlude from her unfinished upcoming album, have guest on her own show, 3 continuous acoustic songs for her recent hits, and last track link with next year CDL
POWER of MUSIC:
not only transformed her songs with orchestra, but also used back arrangement in <MY STORY Classical>, and start bring out background lyrics as main lyrics (forgiveness, Voyage in A BEST LIVE)
HOTEL Love songs CDL:
not only changed her vocalists, but a round fountain for November
WAKE UP CDL:
love when her stage floor all are mirror/silver, love the until that Day... outro, Who... that never perform in past 4 years, floating dress tail in Together When..., and the DVD are the BEST (which is a stunning screenshot when she performing Rule while raising up from platform)

and i really glad she insist to use HOTEL as theme since introduced in end of 2010, HOTEL Love songs tour turn out to be her most complete story linking in her main show, don't forget her new try:
- Shake It, her worst music video, her worst plug, became the best part, nice choreography, and finally no more checkered dress for her cute section and changed a better costume that suit her age
- really like the Sparkle part, esp those smoke gun, and her expression just make us in those party mood where she want to bring out
- jazz section, sexy outfit, gesture like a star, and used powerful vocal to performed underrated song from album <Party Queen>
- surprise breakdown in Party queen, she party, because she lonely
- dancers interlude that used from her own remix album <ayu-mi-x 7>

when peoples critic on A BEST LIVE when saw the tracklist, or listened to the CD album, bare in mind:
- she oledi half deaf, and the CD produce in such short time, so stop compare to PCDL CD
- wasn't when they announced A BEST LIVE as title, we already worry it will become BEST of CDL or Future Classics CDL, lowest expection made, why complaint again when saw the preview
- wasn't we complaint in the same way when HOTEL Love songs tour tracklist first came out, the outcome not bad at all

unless you watched live, if not me and you also not yet watched A BEST LIVE in full. just like Madonna said, please do not pass judgment without seeing her show. i support her since STADIUM TOUR 2002 era, atleast, for past 11 years i never saw her debut single "poker face" ever included in her show disc.

please, she really can't come out a totally brand new show when she have to tour, perform in a-nation, and make new singles/album EVERY YEAR for past 15 years. but definitely, we can see her tries. if you insist totally new thing from her, why you give her a thumb down when she produce album like <Party Queen>, and say you hate she in four sided stage? :tired

Andrenekoi 22nd October 2013 09:08 PM

Every regular tour of hers aimed to promote an album had a visual and conceptual theme based on the album since My Story, and those IMO are enought to give each tour a different feeling.

ExodusUK 22nd October 2013 09:22 PM

You forgot that Namie must frown throughout the whole concert.

ayu-michan 23rd October 2013 02:34 AM

Lol Boys and Girls hurt my ears from all the long noises they're making.

she used to to that type of thing with her early tours. Like if it doesn't have a specific date in its title, it wont be footage solely from one date. It may be a lot from the last dates but not all. The easiest example is her STADIUM TOUR 2002

That's true. Ahh well~ :(

mon chan 23rd October 2013 06:21 AM

I took a look at the tracklist and already go crazy for ever free, she actually sang it live, omg, the very 1st time right, so happy!! The last time about 13 yrs ago it was played in Ayu's concert tour accompanying with an impressive video and a message. I really really loved it:X

jiarongisme 23rd October 2013 06:23 AM

^ Sorry to burst your bubble but it's like concert tour where she just used it as a song for the interlude video.

truehappiness 23rd October 2013 06:26 AM

She must not want to perform ever free... ever.

Probably the day of release and if not, within the first 3 days.

stepYOU1234 25th October 2013 01:39 AM

I might be a bit late to the party here, but I've just watched the preview video things with short clips of all the songs and it does seem like a 'Best' concert when all put together. Good range of songs that show what she is known for and some new ones. I was a bit miffed about sakura being cut but I don't think it fit in with the overall vibe of the show in the end :(

SummonerXI 25th October 2013 04:50 AM

Anyone know anything about the "Song of the Day" yet? I'm really itching to get a high quality version of Daybreak from the Osaka concert.

More, than this, I'm wondering where the CDL announcement is. Usually its around this time I think?

Since its her anniversary I am hoping for another PCDL like set. I was really expecting her to do something like that during her anniversary tour, but she didn't. :(

Nah, PCDL was something that was totally CDL-only. Anniversaries are usually for hits only, especially if fans decide the setlist with their favorite songs.

CDL should be announced this week or next... we know it's coming.

SunshineSlayer 26th October 2013 05:48 AM

^i don't mean necessarily a set list of rare songs, but because they had the fan voting, I was expecting a pcdl length set list of what the fans voted for. Changing only 1 song per concert date was kinda weak IMO.

It's probably not as easy to change much of a national tour when it's so planned out. (plus her concept was more BEST of CDL than PCDL) If it was more unplugged like POWER of MUSIC it's easier to switch songs out and substitute if needed. Also since CDL is only a few days, that long 'TA voted' setlist was perfect for CDL.

I wonder what kind of show we'll get for CDL this year...
