Oh I forgot to say it's not out everywhere, just Japan, some European countries, and NYC (it's an event or something).
Worldwide release is still 11.11 haha

SURREAL__RAINBOW 8th November 2013 07:33 AM

AH LOL thanks for that :)

Minttulatte 8th November 2013 09:36 AM

I'm happy to be a Finn lol. I might get this by Monday♥ Then I will blast the hell out of it for sure. :)

~StarCatcher~ 8th November 2013 11:50 AM

I already got it via iTunes and I don't really like much of it, it's even weaker than it sounded from your critics...

Is the sales consider good for an English language album in Japan nowadays?

Yes it is. I mean, it's much much less than Born This Way sales, but she had promo and a huge lead single back then. She's currently outselling Avril Lavigne, who is huge in Japan, and she will debut at #1, not very common for an english album there. :)

Oh that's cool! Yeah I still remember Born This Way was huge when it released in Japan, but sales changes according to time and promotion too.

If I'm not mistaken Utada's Exodus is still the highest selling English album in Japan? Or the record has been broken?

I don't know, I didn't even know about Utada's record! But it makes sense, the album may be in English but she's a japanese singer, and a very successful one

NintendoHTF1242 8th November 2013 05:13 PM

Wait so the album is coming out worldwide on Monday? I thought American releases in regards to CDs always come out on Tuesdays?

meh whatever so excited to buy this shit. I haven't heard anything except for Applause, Do What U Want, and Venus.

Maemi 8th November 2013 05:31 PM

I'm officially disappointed with this album. I like only Do What U Want, Applause, Artpop.

hsienko 9th November 2013 03:13 PM

^Same less Applause. The whole thing was a mess, music was generic and out of date sounding and the singing was just terrible - sounded more like yelling in some weird style of rap than singing.

Maemi 9th November 2013 03:54 PM

Yes, it is so messy and cheesy compared to her first two albums (which I love btw)

Pieces_of_SEVEN 9th November 2013 05:37 PM

I think I really only like Jewels and drugs. Just because I don't think she's really done a real hip hop song before. Paper gangsta and starstruck kinda played with the idea, but not really. But other than that, I don't really care for the album. :/

Delicious n Bold 9th November 2013 10:23 PM

So I played venus in the car today and loved it. It's very good and I don't know why people dont like it, and I'm the guy who cares about how a song SOUNDS.

No_Doubt 10th November 2013 02:28 PM

^ I like Venus, but it doesn't flow well and the production is poor.

Kazeyomi 10th November 2013 04:01 PM

I listened to this album twice, because at first I thought it was a huge mess. Unfortunately I haven't changed my mind, Artpop IS a mess. It's a decent pop album but anything special neither.

There are some catchy and good tracks though. Venus is my favourite, along with Aura. Too bad the album version sounds so flat compared to the powerful demo version.
Do What U Want and Swine are really catchy as well. And I've been obsessed with Donatella lately, even though it bugs me how Gaga mispronounce Versace :laugh.

Dream 10th November 2013 07:56 PM

[Oricon first week sales]
1st day: 18,109
2nd day: 10,058
3rd day: 6,351
4th day: 5,430
5th day: 5,311

Total: 45,259

Yes! She'll surpass 50k. I hope the album can sell more than 250k overall, considering she usually has a lot of longevity.

Dream 11th November 2013 04:53 AM

If you wanna stream ArtRave: http://www.vevo.com/lady-gaga-artRave
It seems that Gaga will perform the entire ARTPOP starting in 10 minutes.

jyujiw 11th November 2013 05:58 AM

G.U.Y. is the only reason that I wanted this album to really exist. It's so damn catchy.

Dream 11th November 2013 06:55 AM

Oh she performed only a few songs, almost the same as iTunes festival :(
disappointed even though it was good

I want DWUW to have some nice choreography, especially for the chorus, I don't want her just to walk aroudn the stage every performance... It's like she forgot what makes a performance good. Her vocals are amazing though

jbrat2219 11th November 2013 07:10 AM

Ugh! I really didn't like Venus when it came out but during a walk this evening someone mentioned that a bright star in the sky could actually be the planet Venus and I started singing the entire song word for word because it got stuck in my head xD I had only heard the song twice at that point. Damn good job, Gaga. It may be a mess of a song but it gets stuck in your head quick and won't let go. She's really talented at making the catchiest music, even if it sucks lol.

SURREAL__RAINBOW 11th November 2013 08:04 AM

I GOT MY COPY TODAY! It was the limited edition with the itunes festival DVD, so worth the money! :love

Minttulatte 11th November 2013 08:40 AM

I didn't get my copy yet but it's ok. I can wait a little bit longer♥

Its out today in Canada and US!!

Btw, HMV lists a Fan Pack edition in North America that comes with the Deluxe Edition of the album and a tshirt. Does anyone have pictures of this edition? I wanna see the tshirts SOOOOOOO BADLY!!!

NintendoHTF1242 12th November 2013 02:38 AM

I liked the album! It wasn't mind-blowing or anything but Lady Gaga definitely offered up a lot of great music to listen to.

My favorite tracks are "Aura", "Do What U Want (feat. R. Kelly)", "Donatella", "Gypsy", and "Applause". The only songs I don't like are "MANiCURE" and "Swine".

ILoveGeniuses 12th November 2013 02:46 AM

I'm sooo broke til Thursday, so I have to wait til then til I can go get my copy. :(

Wish I could just walk into the store, grab it and say "I'll be back on Thursday to pay you for it" without getting in trouble from Mall Security or the police. LOL

NintendoHTF1242 12th November 2013 07:02 AM

Sexxx Dreams and G.U.Y. grew onto me, and I'm somewhat liking Venus. But Do What U Want is definitely my favorite song on the album.

Zahara 12th November 2013 08:09 AM

My friends list on facebook is going crazy for this album.

SURREAL__RAINBOW 12th November 2013 09:16 AM

Perfect album tbh, on repeat for days

brener 12th November 2013 10:53 AM

ARTPOP is officially #1 on Oricon with 58,493 copies sold on its first week.

koumori 12th November 2013 10:58 AM

Still loving the album - Jewels n' Drugs and Dope are the only ones I'm not too fussed about, but I just removed them from my iTunes and now the album is perfect. :) First time I listened to it, it seemed so messy..but now I love her vocals and the audio hooks in each track.

I don't think she'll ever top The Fame Monster for me, but this is one of the best pop albums we've had this year so I'm not going to complain.

ILoveGeniuses 12th November 2013 03:12 PM

Hey, Could I get a list of ALL of her MV's that she's EVER done?

She obviously refrained from creating songs for the sake of extremely catchy phrases.

The Fame was like... "Papapapaprazzi, popopopokerface, Alealealealealejandro, kindabusy kindabusy tetetetelephone". She did evidently make a step forward. I certainly don't listen to her music but at least I tried her albums once or twice and Artpop definitely differs from her usual works.

YES! :yes I think the main problem for people is that she really, really hyped ARTPOP up to be this massive thing that would change music or something. If you disregard that idea and just listen to the album it's nowhere near as bad as people it out to be. Definitely pleasently surprised with this release :heart

AyuBlackwind 13th November 2013 03:56 AM

The major problem with the ARTPOP concept is that the art that everyone was expecting to be in the album wasn't. Referencing Greek gods and goddesses isn't exactly that artsy and has been done by a lot of artists in music who didn't claim to be be doing anything groundbreaking. The album is just a nice, but typical EDM album that explores her interests in sex, drugs, and fashion. Same old stuff. Jeff Koons' sculpture of her for the cover art is the only original artistic presence, if any, and don't tell me that's the reverse Warholian she's talking about. I just wish we could get back to the Fame/Fame Monster days...

Oh, and she should abandon rap in her music. Jewels n' Drugs was just.....no.

I agree. It's growing on me for sure but it's very... typical. I hate to be "that fan" but ARTPOP has nothing on The Fame Monster. To me that was Gaga at her most artistic.

Minttulatte 13th November 2013 12:17 PM

So when begins the praise of Born This Way's perfection now that ARTPOP seems to be crap to so many of you? 8D I'm just waiting for that to begin.

As for me, I got ARTPOP today. This album is awesome. The absolute best of 2013 for me♥

Delicious n Bold 13th November 2013 12:37 PM

Venus > born this way
I think

NintendoHTF1242 13th November 2013 01:14 PM

The Fame Monster > ARTPOP > The Fame > Born This Way

tbh

Minttulatte 13th November 2013 01:23 PM

Well, for me it's The Fame Monster, Born This Way, ARTPOP, The Fame. And I'm pretty sure I'm the only one here who thinks BTW is her #2 best album to date. :D

If it makes you feel better, it's not that I don't listen to it..in fact, most of the songs have grown on me a lot over time. She just has a very strong discography and for me, it's her weakest album.

y'all better get into this
the meltdowns are immense, but i'm not bothered as i stopped caring about sales a long time ago.
meltdowns start at page 12 by the way

Minttulatte 14th November 2013 11:50 AM

^Those meltdowns are a lot similar than what I've seen here quite often since forever. :D But I don't care for sales. I just enjoy the flawless album♥

Yes its not a bad album the songs are really catchy and fun to jam to. I just felt it was very generic sounding, could have been made by anyone who does EDM and a lot of the compositions sounded unrefined or similar to prior songs she's released.

What I don't like in particular about this "era" isn't so much the music its the stylization that I find very off-putting. The other three albums had such cool avantgarde art concepts this "Artpop" is far from art and a total let down imo I got the impression that it was gonna be pinup girl meets sleek techno kinda thing instead we get homeless person on bath salts. The album cover is just a cropped picture of the birth of venus by Sandro Botticelli with a statue. There's nothing artistic or innovative about that the venus thing is so 2011 come up with something new plz. Her fashion has been atrocious and geekerish very much like a baser would dress and as someone who just wears clothes on a daily basis I find it insulting. To me, this is showing that her "image" was thought up entirely by someone else in her camp and clearly that person is out and she might be too I can't imagine this is clicking with too many people.

Polyrhythm 19th November 2013 06:13 AM

ARTPOP the album was meh IMO....although off the album I really enjoyed Do What You Want and ARTPOP....

BUT her SNL performance. Wow. Can we talk about that? If her music career ever dies she could seriously go into acting.

The hype started long ago and to your domain i've already "unliked" gaga on facebook because of her overposting around artpop, but i have my right to say that that annoyed me before. i don't know why you're mad since i'm just stating my opinion around something, it's not like i hate her or else. in fact a like her a lot...

About the album. i think most of the songs are too experimental that i mostly end up liking verses of them rather than the entire thing =\

The tracks i like the most are Venus, Artpop, G.U.Y. and Gypsy ^^

About the MSta performance, well, she's doing the right thing since she's selling good in Japan and this will keep her sales around 15k for the third week on Oricon. TV performances helped Katy last week and Avril this week.

Mostly only the verses are catchy and nice to listen, too!

And her live performances for ARTPOP are really bad vocally.:shakehead

I could bet Gypsy will be released as a single. And Mary Jane Holland. That's also a song that could be good single off the album.

And I already passed 250 plays for this album according to last.fm and I'm still thinking ARTPOP is the best thing that has happened in 2013, closely followed by Namie's FEEL. I just love ARTPOP. I can't stop listening to it. All songs are awesome. My top 5 favs are G.U.Y., Sexxx Dreams, ARTPOP, Gypsy and Mary Jane Holland♥

I actually really love ARTPOP, it's the first Gaga album I've had on repeat when it first came out and I generally like all of the songs on there. The hype Gaga created around it got me really excited and I wasn't disappointed. Although, I think a lot of that is because I've always taken her ramblings of ~*high art in her music*~ with a grain of salt :/ I just enjoy it as regular pop music, plain and simple. I also absolutely LOVE the use of double vocaling she did in most of the songs

Too bad her label probably won't let her do that since the GP doesn't like drugs. Those assholes fucked up BTW singles meanwhile Gaga's choices would've been so much better.

Please, Britney Jean ain't no album of the year. will.i.am totally fucked up the epicness of Body Ache with that monotonous drop after the buildup instead of expanding on the melody after the ascent.

Alien> Venus> prism
It's how I see it
Venus is one my fav songs of the year
Fashion is my second fave lg song of the year
For the 2.5 people who care XD

ComatoseBunnySnatcher 29th November 2013 08:05 AM

I think she's hardcore into drugs :(

Minttulatte 29th November 2013 12:14 PM

Oh, people still talk about Godga doing drugs? I really don't think she does it. I think she just uses drugs as a metaphor as many other bitches do when they sing about being addicted to their lovers and it feels like they're addicted to drugs. Besides, Lana Del Rey uses drugs references all the time in her songs and there's no one calling her a drug user. Weird.

And even I use drugs as a metaphor in my lyrics and I don't use drugs. I never have. I use that word when I write about addictive love or something like that. :p

Yeah, I noticed. -.-' But she also said on Twitter that at some point there will be some unreleased songs from the album so it's a reason enough for me to get it♥

I approve your opinion on Fashion! because it seems to be a song many people hate. I love the feeling of the song, it makes me smile every time I listen to it. And I'm surprised that will.i.am. was actually able to make a song that doesn't sound like his other songs lol. :D

Zahara 29th November 2013 04:35 PM

She smokes weed. I'd rather her do that than have a coke habit again.

TeamAyu2004 2nd December 2013 04:27 PM

man. I think im more of a Prism > Britney Jean > ARTPOP.
The gaga is so over rated. I hope she takes a major break soon or people are gonna start hate'n her.

Lady Gaga doing a track-by-track review of her latest album "ARTPOP".
Here's the link: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=E7Voaj0xzpc

The interview is really good, she explain to us the meaning of all her new songs. Regarding the song DOPE she really talked about her addiction on drugs that was starting to mess up with her life. So sad :(...

Yes I know it's very shocking to hear her say that right?

I already saw her talking about that before performing DOPE at her ARTPOP release party:(

Delicious n Bold 3rd December 2013 10:21 PM

So LG is charging $35 for attendance to her concert.
Grant price but she costs as much as kyary pamyu pamyu now >_>

TeamAyu2004 4th December 2013 05:18 AM

for 35 bucks I would go.

Delicious n Bold 4th December 2013 04:09 PM

Me too
I like BudgetGa a lot more tbh.

NintendoHTF1242 4th December 2013 06:56 PM

The explanation for "Dope" from that interview really makes me appreciate the song a whole lot more.

Mirrorcle Monster 4th December 2013 08:00 PM

What I dont get is how you make a song like Dope and talk in every interview about how you changed that and how you did it for those who love you, and then release a song like Mary Jane Holland which basically talks about how funny smoking weed is

So i got my tickets to Gaga live in Philly so excited since I got very good tickets close to the stage.

ImpactBreaker 5th December 2013 02:58 AM

Just like Rihanna's last album, unapologetic (which also had only 2 good songs on it), too much weed also made Gaga release her worst album ever. The two main singles are the only listenable songs, the rest is crap expelled from her bowels. I thought Born this way was a little freaky with the whole religiosity, but I was able to enjoy it more, but this album is just a waste, fArtPoop. She was able to make such catchy songs, but now some rappers scrape the board with a hard chalk and she thinks she made music with it. No art and no pop. She definitely surpassed the Born This Way remixes album in ammount of horrible music.

Maemi 5th December 2013 01:13 PM

^ that was harsh, but true....

Naw, Artpop turned out to be a great album. I agree that Unapologetic was a pile of shite though.
