'Angel' thoughts
Let's bring back threads for each individual new song like the good old days.
Angel might be my favorite cut from this album. Will update later with complete impression. :) |
Good idea!! Make one thread for all the new songs! Hmmm...I don't know what to say about this one. I really like the verses part but the chorus is kind of repetitive and annoying (especially those oohhhs). BUT, ayu's voice in generally turned out better than I expected and the flow is nice.
|
it's soo repetitive :/ but I like her voice
|
better than what i expected. I love this song and the emotion
|
Yeah my only problem with the song is the long oooooh ooohh part. The rest are lovely and nice, love the arrangements
|
Lyrics are nice and it ha so much potential.
But sadly I don't see a climax and Ayu's voice is too weak to stand on its own. Maybe it will grow on me. Overall right now it's just ok. I like that it's different. |
The most headache-inducing song i've heard of hers since Humming 7/4 and the intro of I Am.. Her vocals are just so off, especially in the chorus where it sounds more like whining than singing. However it's the only song on the album i dislike so i'll let her have this one.
|
I don't really like the 'I wanna be an angel for you' part but the rest is amazing :heart
|
Looooooooove. Total surprise.
|
I like the full version more than i expected!
|
This song is hilariously weird, I can't put my finger on it but it sounds kind of like a Beyonce reject. I don't think it's awful, just... so... strange
I kinda lost it at the part where she stopped writing lyrics and just HAHAHAHAHAHAAAA'd for twenty seconds |
I still think the beginning and the chorus sound exactly like Miley's "Wrecking Ball"!
But the last part is absolutely beautiful (when she hits the high note), it saves the song completely. :scry |

and you're right!..the song is a rip of Wrecking ball. :irked even you can sing wrecking ball over this song and fits perfectly |
I'm so stunned by this! It's so beautiful and I love it a lot. It has this hopeful feeling and I can really feel Ayu's emotions from this. Just from the simplistic lines of the chorus. You know it takes a great singer to sing the same line and emote so differently for each. Ayu did it here and the arrangement helps to elevate these emotions.
|
suprisingly...the song is good in full...it's grow on me...
but i don't like the part where she ooohhhh...lalala before second chorus...kinda weird and it's kinda like she running out of lyrics... |
Those "ooooohhhhhs" sticks in your head. I think this is quite something hahaha
Must be what she wanted to do lol |
This song has a mysterious strange feeling to me.
The composition is weird, it's not bad but it's really Unique. I love it. |
Really surprised compared to the preview- I like it!
|
So gorgeous and different for her. Her vocals have a style to them I can't describe, she's never done that. I like the long note and how it goes all over. Elegant, unique for Ayu, loved it instantly.
|
My favorite of the new songs. I look forward to this video the most. :)
|
When chorus came up, DANG! "Wrecking Ball"!!!!!
Sometimes her voice is off. Not so fond of it. |
Offputting and boring
On the second verse after the first chorus she abruptly started Ahahahaaaaing(1:30 mark) like she didn't have anything else to say :-D |

Now when someone mentioned Beyonce.... Angel gives me the same vibes like Halo does. I was thinking it reminds me of something.
I love Angel the most from the new ones. The chorus is a bit repetetive and there could be a bit of a change in the arrangement for the climax, but i love how it goes BOOM into the chorus. And the lyrics are great. Ayu sounds lovely too. I am really looking farward to see how it turned out live and what kind of video it is going to get. |
The song is surprisingly good, minus the vocals until the last part of the song.
Then she sings decently and the OOOH part doesn't sound that painful lol. |
It is quite good and not a plain balad as usual and that is what I like. Also it is not an overlong balad so it is à good thing.
On the other hand it reminds me A LOT of Wrecking Ball. Hope she won t be naked in the video ;-) And yes at the end of the second verse she could have written more lyrics instead of just "ahahahaaaaa" it sounds out of place and awkward |
its just reminded me to Fireworks, the beginngin, the instrumental is something like "do you ever feel like a plastic bag.." you know if you remember that part,, and yeah the chorus starting from the "ahahahahahah~~ah~ha hoooooohooooo~~" its just doesnt suited with Ayu's weak voice.
this song sounds so western |

Maybe we should do a mashup of both songs? Son idénticas! :P |
A little boring, hope it will grow on me.

i know is already a mushup mix of W.Ball with "Sinéad O'Connor - Nothing Compare" edit: i just found it https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rDcTgaoVwvs&feature=kp |
Eh...the song would be perfect if they cut out the second half of the chorus because that's where it gets off and weird. The part where she is singing lower.
I actually like the verses and first part of the chorus where her voice is higher. But that second half. just ugh. It almost ruins the song. Ayu doesn't really seem to be able to properly sing that way. It's gross. |
I think it's nice...although I wish they had done some things differently. I was so happy at the intro, and then she started singing....and then that sort of slow heavy beat came in.
They could have done so many interesting things with this arrangement, yet they decided on this beat. I get the feeling I think they wanted...but it makes the song somewhat generic. It's what's giving everyone the Wrecking Ball feel. The composition is also weird. Why didn't they do something catchy that flowed well for the verses? I like the concept, but her voice is not powerful enough to carry this song. It's not even that pretty because she's straining so much, can't control her tone, and there's no where for her to take this awful composition. The song can never build upon itself no matter how hard she tries (and fml she is trying HARD and so is the arrangement), but the notes can't flow. They just jump around weird places and their impact is lost. lulz and then here at the end they're trying these harmonies to make it sound nice, but...it just doesnt lol Their heart was in the right place, and I'm happy that it's not a typical ayu sounding song, but. idk. A for effort. C+ for the song. |
The ooooohh lalala sounded lazy...but then I thought: wow it's kinda somewhat original hahaha I love the song btw!
|
Excellent song. I'm so happy that Ayu didn't succumb to saying the producers name in the beginning of this song, or for that matter, any of the non-Japanese producers. I hate it when singers do that (Ex: Mike Will on Miley Cyrus's entire Bangerz album). To me it would of cheapened it had she done it.
|
The part of 1:30 is actually one of my favorites. hahaha
I see the complaining, but I think there's no need to have lyrics in every part of the music, in this part specifically is where her emotion flows into the song imo Sometimes just the sound makes the lyrics. I'm thinking what you all would think if you hear "Ah" from Superfly xD |
I LOVEEE THE SONG, so surreal
|
Music is great, love the lyrics, but Ayu's delivery is poor (especially around chorus). I still like the song.
