the typography this time is actually FINE lol. Some little bit creativity put in there at least with the variation of cap locks LOL

the typography itself it's creative and kinda fun but THE PLACEMENT is only perfect on CD ONLY. I can barely read the COLOURS, but maybe it will change in HQ version.

I'm glad, there is a person who is worse than me to write text. It could look cool if the size was smaller and don't hide Ayu so much. It looks so clumsy.

I like the CD and CD+DVD. But CD the most as she doesn't have the typo on her face/eyes!

It's nice, simple, she's very pretty and fierce and most of all not ugly peach (thanks god) but it feels more like magazine covers than CD. BUT, maybe it means we will get high quality pics in the booklet as we can find in some magazines and not almost amateur as some of her previous works!

Now the fact there is no colours .... Tarja Turunen released her last album named Colors in the dark and it was VERY colorful... although you could think if the colours are in the dark you wouldn't really see them (first impression, it is not really the concept for this album)... and there, it is named Colours and except blue you don't really have some, even Colours is in white, so it doesn't bug me, I even like it that way. Even more funny is that white isn't a colour!

i will not be surprised if the What is forever love/NOW&4EVA free cd cover was the same offshoot as the covers. I still think that this photos might be in booklet.

I like the simplicity, it's very editorial and she looks absolutely stunning! Not to mention that i'm just glad she abandoned the peach pastel coloring lol.

I told it, they won't go the creative way and use the potential the title had this time anyways. They are nice though i like the photoshoot but i can't stand the title taking over half of them, i don't understand that kinda shit. The only one that seems to be decent is the CD version, the pose the placement of the text it all seems to be in place. Thank god they got the typography alright, at least. I mean the font is good, crapy placement on most of them though. They should have taken the size down on the rest.
Now when someone mentioned Tarja, actually white is the mother of colors, if you separate it you get all the colors in the rainbow. So if we start digging deeper where her staff and she herself probably didn't go, we get a fancy concept xD

i give 6/10 to these covers because the peach theme is out lol

Very pretty, simple covers. They're fine. Glad I usually get the CD only... I feel like those are almost always my favorite versions in the end XD

LMAO these are literally the worst covers she's ever had. Hahaha.

Before I opened the thread I told myself not to expect much, then saw them and LOL they're even worse than I thought.

I can't even read the album title. And in the CD+blu-ray it looks like she has metal foil glued over her head. I could make these covers in 5 minutes max. They're just a high contrast photo, white bg, random font and gradient blending layer.

-1 sale for this album. Although foreign sales don't count anymore for Oricon anyway.

I do appreciate a good cover. But the most important for me is the music in it. The thing is: I don't know if you didn't quite like the album enough to buy it and you were expecting the covers to take that decision or that you like the album and you are not gonna buy it because of the covers.

I think she's doing it the western artists way. Just some close up shots and we're done.

@tsumekaze: I was in Japan when Love songs was released and the CD+DVD version at Tower Records (their HMV) had these cardboard sleeves with the standard covers on it. Hidden beneath that was one of two alternative covers: the one in my pic and one where Ayu looks like an emotionless doll. I kept getting the doll one so I kept buying the album..hahaha.

@My Rainbow: I see your point. The music alone isn't good enough for me to buy the album, so I was waiting for the covers. The only album I've bought since Love songs is LOVE again because I love the covers... x3 I believe I should only spend money if I "support" the release, if that makes sense. In that tiny way I "reward" the artist when they deliver a good product. I can always get it later at Bookoff for $3 to add to the collection. :P

CD dvd's not very nice in terms of alignment of words. Cd has the best photo and alignment. The candle versions are nice too.

I think they're a lot a lot better than Party Queen and LOVE again. I'm happy with them. I'm getting the CD edition so I'm pleased c: I think that's one of the best covers.

I always say that artists shouldn't do it halfass, like ok i give you great music but everything else it's gonna be a lackluster. If you do it right, do it till the end.

At least that's what i always say. And i only spend money (lets face it, you do slavery to live these days) on things that are actually 100% in full effort. So it's kinda the same for me if i don't like the music till very last song i won't buy the album,if i only like the cover i won't buy it. I need the whole pack. And so many artists know how to pull it off. You don't need huge funds just right people.

Oh, they are so great. So simple yet classy and flawless!!

I'm not amazed by these covers, but they don't look bad in my opinion. Text placement could be much better, but otherwise fine, and definitely not the worst Ayu has ever done for covers.
While I do see the point that people are making about these covers not fitting with the album title, I see another side to these covers: these pictures, though they may seem quite plain, do in fact have millions (well, in HQ at least) of tiny different particles of colour, that all together form one image. In the end, even a closeup of Ayu's face would contain many, many different colours because few things are truly mono/duo/tri(etc.)chrome, most things are simply observed at too far of a distance for the variation in colour to be noticed.
Or at least that's my attempt at taking a deeper look into how the covers could tie in with the album name, it might not be the least bit close to the official explanation for the choice of covers at all, but it is the explanation I'm using.
Also, one thing that did bother me majorly about the covers, or should I say about one cover, is this;

What bothered me is how it only appears on this one cover, and how the rest of the background is so plainly white in contrast. It looks very unintentional, and very much like "I half-assed the background a little", which in the end gives me an impression of laziness and lack of professionalism so I personally think it should have been photoshopped away. But then again, I'm a perfectionist...

Wow, that black spot on the one cover is super freaking annoying. My favorite photoshop fail is when they didn't photoshop the background from white -> black in between all of her hair for that one Secret cover/promo pic. lol-ing for daaaaays.

Besides this, nice covers, not her worst, not her best, but a relief among the PEACHED-FACE-KOSEE we were getting. I mean, it's still a kind of facial shooting, but at least there's a different hairstyle, her eyes don't look giant and artificial and the outfit is also interesting. I wonder if the booklet pics will each be filtered to different colours~

regardless of the lack of concept and safe aproach you've gotta admit she's looking increadibly mature and beautiful. AND herself too.

I think there's actually a background... a very very very light background. Especially on the CD/BR version you can see shadows in the back. (as opposed to just being blank white)

And the blackspot looks like it could be her own shadow, more than just a mistake. Granted, as it doesn't add anything to the cover they could have gotten rid of it, but if they just cropped a bigger picture (which contained the fully visible shadow) it could explain it, and it'd be more of an overlook than mistake.

I like them... they're classy and remember me to one of my favourite shoots from her (something at the beginning of 2007 promoting A BEST 2)

this album has ONE weak link: visuals. the new Lelio PV is pure garbage trash that I cannot believe Ayu would do and the covers are so-so with lazy and bad execution. the music is very good though so.. oh well..

As I said, love it. She's so classy and mature on them, and they also pairs with the dance movement of this album.

I think they made a safe choice for the cover tbh, to achieve a general perception of "omg, this is beautiful" and, imo, they were clever to do this to such a critical audience.
Then, I think we will be more amazed with the booklet photos, probably on them we will see the real thing and concept going on.

And I don't see any wrong with the fonts. Actually the BD is my favorite one, it seems that the text is interacting with her. The CD only styling is far more safer for sure, but also it's extremely overused that seems a little bit boring to me now.

PS: I think we will have a metallic impression on the titles, then we will see lots of colors on the covers. That would be nice.

but well, the shoot itself is very nice (I always wanted her in the cover with a clean tail, I remember how I feel in love with this black & white magazine shoot were she was with stylists) but clean/simple shoot + "fancy" typo isn't much about fun, party, electro album ;/ she could do fancy shoot and use simple typo xD

still photos are pretty (she isn't cute and "NATURAL" - yeah, natural.) but I'm not a fan of this album same as artcika xD

I love the ones where the text isn't on her face. It's a nice and clean concept. Which they shouldn't be able to mess up. But they did on the covers with the text on her face. Really nice though otherwise.

it's gotta be his styling and art directing because it screams "VOGUE" to me lol I'd say let him style and do shit for magazines and only styling for covers of actual releases, cuz it's not the same thing.

You know what? Ayu needs to work with zemotion (Zhang Jingna) she's brilliant photographer and has amazing visual mind. Yet she keeps everything very high fashion/editorial. i'd love to see what she could do with her.
