I just listened to Anata ni Deawa Nakereba ~Kasetsu Toka~ and LOVE her voice, wow! Her English is really good too. Pleasantly surprised. Gonna listen to what you recommended, Surreal17, and see what else I like from here on out. Thanks for the thread!

The main song is a powerful rock song in the vein of StarRingChild and RE I AM, but probably not as good as them. My favourite original song from this single is the second one "Ophelia". I expected this since I heard the previews. A melodic guitar ballad with the unique flavour of Aimer's vocals. |

I met Aimer with the ending of Zankyou no Terror. She really has a beautiful voice. I listened to Midnight Sun at the start of this year. I downloaded Brave shine but I didn't hear it yet.
I really like the covers of this new single. The hardness of the rocks that are strengthened by the black & white and the lightness of the red sail that looks powerful present an interesting contrast to the spectators. |

There has been some rumours that Aimer is going to release her new album in July. I even saw it on generasia, which lists it on July 29, 2015.
I have a feeling that she is going to announce something soon. A new album is very possible since we already have 10 released songs from this era. Dareka, Umi wo (3 original songs) is considered an EP which is kinda weird compared to the single Broken Night / Hollow World which has 4 original songs. If we count Dareka EP, we have: *Dareka, Umi wo.. You mean the ”Live at Anywhere” one? It.s probably not a proper single, maybe something to promote her lives. It.s official, I found it listed on her official website for a June 05, 2015 release. It is a mora digital exclusive from what I read there.
The three live versions (1. 冬のダイヤモンド -Live ver.- 2. Cold Sun -Live ver.- 3. 六等星の夜 -Live ver.-) are part of her Live at Anywhere Vol.26 ”Brave Shine” which took place on June 04, 2015. The setlist includes a total of 10 songs. She performed some old songs, some Midnight Sun ones and also the new single ”Brave Shine”. She.s so cute in these mini concerts, and her voice tends to be much more powerful. I.ve thought to share the English translation for ”Ophelia” because it is beautiful. I don.t know if I mentioned already, but Aimer writes her own lyrics (with a few exceptions).
Okay, so I.ve noticed that I have a problem in copying the content from that site which provided the translation, so I.ll just leave the link: http://www.lyrical-nonsense.com/lyri.../#page=English I.ve read somewhere that she was inspired by the fictional character Ophelia from the play ”Hamlet” by William Shakespeare. The lyrics are quite tragic and dark and give a bit of a suicidal vibe. In fact, it.s quite clear. She also uses many motifs that also appear in the play such as water, flowers, dreams etc. |

I listened to DAWN some days ago. It's not a bad album but the only outstanding song is Dare ka, Umi wo (the song that caught my attention for her). Believe Be:leave, broKen Night, Last Stardust, DAWN and Moon River are the one I like the most after this one. And Brave Shine has grown on me a little.

Spica is a bit of an unusual title for Aimer but this makes me curious. And ninelie is probably one of her anagram-like title tracks (Re:I:Am, StarRingChild). In a previous interview, she stated that the "night" theme which was covered throught her first three studio albums (see AM02, AM03, AM04) is finally coming to an and. Maybe next is morning or some sort of random concept?

Why do you think that Spica is an unusual title for Aimer?
Spica is the brightest star of the constellation Virgo. I don't find weird (even not a bit) that Aimer chose it as it's fit the night and space theme which overflows her discography with. I'm just curious as I'm still new into Aimer world. |
Ohh, thanks for explaning. I had no idea that Spica was the name of a star. Yeah, now it makes sense why she chose this title. I was imagining it as a girl name lol
By the way, forgot to update: Dawn sold a total of 35,979 copies making it the #135 album of 2015 in Japan. Also, this is currently her best selling album. Brave Shine single sold a total of 31,148 copies making it the #225 single of 2015 in Japan. Brave Shine and StarRingChild are her best selling singles. |

As I didn't know who Chelly is at all, I checked some of EGOIST on youtube. She has a beautiful voice. I wonder how both singers' voices'll match, sound together. |

Koutetsujou no Kabaneri Ending
I like the arrangement of the verse. I don't really know which words to use to describe it. It's repetitive and mesmeric at the same time? On the other hand, the chorus's melody is very aimer-like. I'm waiting for the full version. |

I actually like ninelie song. I appreciate the fact that it builds a bit differenty from her other rock tracks, in the way the the chorus doesn't repeats multiple times. Also, that instrumental part is welcomed. Aimer x Chelly blend nice together. Through my blood is a Hiroyuki Sawano-composed track and you can immediately feel the similarities between this and other songs from Unchild. I enjoy his collaboration album with Aimer and this track has that pump that gets you going. Spica. Wow, this must be her most cheerful song yet. Being a fan since her debut (lol, I feel old), I remember how her first singles and debut album were very moody / mellow / nostalgic. She has come long way since those times in terms of diversity in music which is a great feat. The bad thing is that I don't love any of these new tracks. Everything on this single has been done in the past. Especially the rock tracks. |

ninelie and Through my blood are good. I was afraid that ninelie was too repetitive but it is not the case definitely. I'm not fond of Spica. It's an ok song. Cheerful but quite forgettable.

2016/08/xx on sale Collaboration with Noda Yojiro (RADWIMPS) Aimer To Team Up with Prominent Rock Bands for Two Upcoming Collaboration Singles! "2015 was a very eventful year for our reporters at J-Network who had the opportunity to interview two very popular artistes Aimer and chelly from EGOIST. In her interview with our reporters, Aimer herself had expressed that she loves the vocals of ONE OK ROCK and EGOIST and, in her own words, “really would like to collaborate with them if given the chance”. One of these collaborations materialized earlier this year, to much fanfare and critical acclaim: ninelie, the ending theme to Kabaneri of the Iron Fortress – an anime series which CHARAPEDIA users have overwhelmingly voted as the anime of the season they would like to continue watching – was released on the 11th of May, 2016, and the single is now reaching 9th place on the Oricon Singles Weekly Chart with an estimated 19,557 copies sold. How many would’ve expected the collaboration – much least of all Aimer herself? Now, Aimer can perhaps truly say that an ‘insane dream‘ of hers has been fulfilled, as she is slated to collaborate with vocalist Taka from ONE OK ROCK for their latest release. The single, titled ‘insane dream/us’, is set to be a double A-side single. Taka helmed the direction for insane dream and one of the songs was recorded in Los Angeles. Taka provided the vocals for the chorus of the song alongside Aimer’s heavenly, husky voice. Aimer’s official Youtube channel has also uploaded the teaser for insane dream and it is set to be unlike anything Aimer has done before. The second song, titled ‘us’ will be yet another collaboration track and this time, with Ling Tosite Sigure’s (凛として時雨) TK. The progressive rock band is well-known for its unique music style that sees them blending together various vocal styles in their songs. TK is the guitarist and vocalist of Ling Tosite Sigure and will also be producing ‘us’. The basic recording for the song was done in Berlin, Germany. The third song, titled ‘tone’ remains a mystery though and we may very well only find out what it can offer when ‘insane dream/us’ goes on sale on 6 July 2016. That’s not the last announcement from Aimer yet though. She will also be releasing a brand new single sometime in August 2016 and this time, it will be another collaboration. She will collaborate with RADWIMPS’ Yojirou Noda, the guitarist and vocalist of the rock band. Not much is known about this upcoming collaboration save for Noda’s comments on the work as follows: I first heard Aimer’s voice about 3-4 years ago or so. I managed to get the CD by chance from an acquaintance. Just from hearing her voice, I found something that I liked about her. I was happy listening to her sing many times at the recording studio. I smell a new studio album in autumn. The line "Don't be afraid, daybreak has come" from ninelie shows that she's indeed starting a new era (post-night theme). A lot of powerful pop rock / rock collaborations, lighter/cheerful sound, even the covers seem more earthly (see insane dream / us cover). She's also showing more of herself in her lives then 1-2 years ago.

To me ninelie and insane dream are too different to be compared. They're the kind of songs I'll listen to according to my mood. Insane dream reminds me 2000s rock songs a lot. I'm disappointed by Chouchou Musubi's covers. They're the most uninspired covers she did. I hope that it's only for one single. Insane dream / us covers are simple but she succeeded to build a strange atmosphere. As if dream and reality were mixed. |
Agree, insane dream also reminds me of 00s rock period. It sucks that we have to wait almost one month @_@
About the Chouchou Musubi covers, I like the simple yet delicate vibe. Its not as fantasy-like like her old covers but still nice. For example, I didn't like the ninelie promo pics / covers. Too rough for my eyes to distinguish something lol |
That's what I like about the ninelie covers. Everything in the cover are real things (flower, fairy lights, plants etc. ) but the outcome is very abstract. It's as if Aimer met Pollock.
