A new classical album will come out on 28/01, with ten songs. The title is still unknown.

The info goes like this:

After one year from the release of the classical album "a classical", released on january 2013, it has been decided to release a new classical album!
Packed with lots of LOVE, this is the elegant and cute very early present from ayu for valentine's day.

A mash-up of Hamasaki Ayumi's love songs and classic famous pieces, a sweet, elegant, gorgeous and cute classical mash-up album.
By meeting the musical performance of the members of an orchestra who performs at major classical concerts, the carefully selected classical, famous pieces by Hamasaki Ayumi give off a new charm.
With the ballad single announced for the 24/12, "Zutto.../ Last Minute / Walk", and while building up the expectations for the countdown live which will firmly close 2014, let's anticipate the ayu of 2015!!

So... if I'm understanding the description correctly. It's Ayu songs mashed up with already famous classical pieces by notable composers?

Great news. I was very pleased with the previous Classical album, so have already pre-ordered this.

I hope for rerecorded songs from Love Songs/GUILTY/Love again. Put some damn effort into this release. I'm not the type to whine over pvs, songs, covers, fonts etc. - I always enjoy just what ayu has to offer. But for classical albums is different : I can't take a great classical arrangement with the old ayu voice (especially 1998-2002) which doesn't match at all. If she decided to release this album, I hope that she re-records the tracks. And please, not the same tracks from A Classical or the same remixed songs. Has ayu ever heard of Sweet scar, Do It Again, November, Sending Mail, Like a Doll, Marionette, GUILTY? We need to spam her tweeter with the songs we want!

I'm not sure if you were involved, but a few years ago, I started a thread to get everyone on twitter to tweet the same thing to ayu and max matsuura about ayu trance 4. then max and ayu went back and forth, something like "should we do it?" and we ended up getting the 4 ayu-mi-x 7 CDs. One of my proudest moments! LOL

I do love me some classical Ayu songs, but the "mash-up" thing has me worried - a (hopefully live) orchestra will somehow incorporate classical pieces into Ayu songs? It's not that I automatically think it will be bad, but rather that I cannot imagine how it would turn out and I'm fearing for the worst.
What I'm hoping for, at least, is something like "A Classical" but with different songs. I still listen to that album (partially and in whole) every once in a while because it is quite awesome. :yes

Oh wow, you may be right, Google translate told me that Ayu's masterpieces would be mashed up with classical, known songs but the translation in the first post is probably more accurate. Can people with knowledge of Japanese confirm that?

If it'd really be a mash-up of her songs and classical music i'd definitely look forward and buy this release. As much as I love Hitomi Shimatani's crossover albums!! Yesssss.

lol u guys are really reading into it, i think what they mean by mashup that they are going to mix in new matterial with old Ayu's clasics, meaning there will be new and old in it xD i don't think Avex would do anthing this complicated lol

A mashup specifically means blending two different elements together to make one new one. Vocals from one song with music from another. Visuals from one video with music from another.

If it were a normal "Ayu songs transformed into classical versions" I can't see why they'd use the term mashup.

Yup, they even used the katakana for mash-up which is always used to describe two different songs/pieces of music remixed together.

The term mash-up did have my thoughts going in that direction, but with how other languages can often appropriate English words in, how should I put it, an odd fashion, I wasn't sure. :/ Well, let's hope my fears are unfounded.

I've never been so fond of Ayu's classical remixes. But this one sounds different. Let's see where it goes.

Let's hope she actually chooses unusual songs for this and not songs that already have 3-4 different "orchestra" versions already like Seasons, Dearest, M, and Voyage.

As for the classical release, I fear they will take the usual go to songs they always remix, but I hope to be surprised with a few not so overplayed songs (although I don't like her classical remixes, still willing to give it a chance)

A lot of Ayu's love themed songs are one sided loves and love that's ended.

Dearest, JEWEL, HEAVEN, Voyage and Days pop into my head the most.

Releasing a bunch of angry love songs is definitely possible, but if they're intending to celebrate love, I wonder...

Valentine's day in Japan is a big deal, often used to finally tell the person you like that you like them. And being rejected is definitely a part of love, so who knows.

If they intended to mash-up 2 Ayu songs together, they wouldn't have used the term "classical", but "classic" instead. There's a huge difference here.
Classical music is what we can hear in MY STORY Classical or A Classical.
Classic(s) is songs like evolution, M, Voyage, Trauma.... "Classic" in Ayu's terms of course.

The more I think about it, the more I am a bit concerned. If this really is some sort of classical mashup with Ayu songs, the execution is going to have to be damn near perfect to impress people.

HONEY classsical version was a slaughter.....

^I can't stand the original version of Honey. The classical version made it very "classy". I love it. If anything is "slaughtered" it's her disgustingly cutesy/high pitched voice over a beautiful French Orchestra.

I bet Symphony No. 5 is going to end up somewhere on this album. It's too popular to not use.

HONEY is not bad. I love the arrangment of the song. The only time her cutesy voice was actually disgusting was in Thank U because it just didn't sound natural anymore. Well, it certainly wasn't natural in HONEY either but at least it wasn't as jarring as in Thank U where she sounded like a hoarse Grandma.

this is what i'm thinking as well. You have to nail it to make it impressive.

The whole concept to me sounds like it will be like Sweetbox. Blending classical elements with a pop twist and not just taking Ayu's vocals and putting it over a classical piece. :shrug In any case, I'm cautiously excited.

Interesting comment. What makes Party Queen less Western than Colours? J Pop is anything but Japanese other than being produced by Japanese people in their language. Some distinct qualities that are enough to call it Eastern, like the melody and instruments, exist in some of her songs but none in Party Queen I'd say.
