ABOUT NAMIE
Spoiler:
Amuro Namie (安室奈美恵) is a Japanese "Hip-Pop" (Hip-Hop / Pop) artist from Okinawa. She debuted in a eurobeat group called the SUPER MONKEYS comprised of her and her classmates from the Okinawa Actors' School in 1992 with the single Koi no Cute Beat / Mister U.S.A.. Amuro became the leader of the group, and found success after their cover of TRY ME ~Watashi wo Shinjite~, which peaked at #8. In 1996, Amuro switched to avex trax and debuted with the single Body Feels EXIT, with her first avex album selling over 3.3 million copies. Her biggest single, the ballad CAN YOU CELEBRATE?, was the top single of 1997. After marriage and personal tragedy, Amuro continued to adopt a more R&B/hip-hop based style of music. She has sold over 27,322,155 copies in Japan alone.

I'm revisiting Namie's old stuff, specifically from between dreaming I was dreaming to I will. Not as good as her previous era because of her flawless second album but there's a lot of gems in this era. Say the word, love 2000, never end (finally like it), himawari etc

I agree!! Back in the day, i kinda overlooked that period of hers and now after her live tour 2014 which was jaw-dropping amazing. I find myself going back to it and loving it to pieces. :luv2

chocopockymaster 26th February 2015 07:39 PM

omg I don't know where I was when this came out but I just discovered the 80kidz remix of Damage and I am OBSESSED. Hollaaaaaaaaaa~~~

orangeakira 27th February 2015 12:29 AM

^That's one of my workout songs. When that sick as fuck beat kicks in when she repeats the "have you ever doubted your destiny" part, I just get so pumped and excited. The remix makes the song sound more bad ass.

~StarCatcher~ 27th February 2015 10:00 AM

^Can you tell me in which release the remix is included?

I would like to hear it, too=)

UHPlus 27th February 2015 03:17 PM

Damage (w/80KIDZ Remix) was never released as an audio track. It appeared as the background music for the making of 'Damage' music video:

~StarCatcher~ 27th February 2015 03:29 PM

OKay thank you :-)

It was released as a digital single, actually. The full version is 5:18.

Edit: i finally gave it a listen and its so nostalgic. "and the girl who became a human being." classic. better than oh just a fart.

^^Thanks a lot

Zeke. 28th February 2015 05:00 AM

It ain't got shit on the 80kidz remix of rule. Way more grit. Way more badass.

mi|kshake 5th March 2015 11:29 PM

My copy of Live Style 2014 arrived today! Gonna start watching it soon!

I was also having a look at Namie's other tours. A shame the Concentration 20 Tour isn't still in print - the set list looks amazing! I will have to watch the digest on Youtube.

thinkingoutloud89 6th March 2015 06:45 AM

^isn't the reprint avaiable anymore?

orangeakira 6th March 2015 09:46 AM

I was listening to the 80kidz remix of Damage, and the Shinichi Osawa remix of What a Feeling, and I decided that she needs more remixes. I'm amazed that she doesn't do remixes considering her songs are so dancey like Alive, In the Spotlight, and WILD.

so I made this. http://www.ahsforum.com/forum/showth...61#post3121361

she's given us a few of them throughout the years like the ones I listed, but the last time she released a remix on one of her singles was the remix for CAN'T SLEEP, CAN'T EAT, I'M SICK way back in 2006.

chocopockymaster 6th March 2015 12:24 PM

I agree, she definitely needs more remixes! It's a shame she doesn't do them more often.

Earth_maiden 6th March 2015 12:26 PM

I had no idea there was a PV for DAMAGE. Does anyone have a download link available? :)

orangeakira 6th March 2015 08:00 PM

It's a weird single. She didn't release it physically, and it's not on any album. Similar situation with the Speed Star. I was so amazing when the tracklist for Feel came out and Damage wasn't on there.

mi|kshake 6th March 2015 09:34 PM

I wish Beautiful and Damage were available to buy on iTunes.

NintendoHTF1242 6th March 2015 11:45 PM

I really want Namie to just release a B-side compilation or something. She has so many hidden gems in her singles that people often forget about. Especially the SPEED STAR, Drive, and exist for you.

Celaphorce 7th March 2015 02:52 AM

^Well Checkmate was a great idea and project so maybe a bside compilation will be a possibility, until then it's just wishful thinking :(

S4MU3L 8th March 2015 06:55 AM

Leavin' for Las Vegas have been my jam for the whole week

visionfactory 9th March 2015 01:30 AM

LEAVIN' for LAS VEGAS is one of Namie's best song I absolutely love it :heart

Delicious n Bold 9th March 2015 08:20 AM

God I love that album. Namie looks overdead on the cover and the crappy butterflies are just the cherry on top. Not to mention love 2000 and somethin bout the kiss are my jams.

Ah, speaking of remixes. Here's my favourite Namie remix

http://www.djamaya.com/remix-works/n...oovebot-remix/

mi|kshake 9th March 2015 11:54 PM

The first half of Genius 2000 is amazing! But man the second half is such a slog, it means it rates down there as one of my least favourite Namie albums, even if it does include I Have Never Seen.

Baernash 10th March 2015 02:55 AM

As for Namie's old albums than I like "Concentration 20" the most. I never was a big fan of her early (pre-solo and debut) works and I like her hip-hop era (between STYLE and PLAY) only partially BUT for me her recent works (since "PAST < FUTURE") are just ace.

Gustavopc 10th March 2015 02:38 PM

I'd LOVE a b-side Best from Namie (also one from Kuu), but as much as I want to see one, she's released a ballad compilation not even a year ago... So two best's in a row would be very unlikely imo, even if we're talking about avex.

For 2015, I want a new single before everything else :P

inspire_rmx 10th March 2015 02:44 PM

I want a new single with 3 brand new tracks before her new album :D

Baernash 10th March 2015 04:16 PM

I guess we may got only one single (in summer) before new album will come. These days J-Pop singers not releasing as much singles as they used to in the past. I wouldn't be surprised if there would be just some digital release.

Heavenly 10th March 2015 05:02 PM

If she releases a new album this year, I unfortunately doubt that she will include TSUKI/Neonlight Lipstick/Ballerina ... :(
What a shame ! All three are among the best songs of 2014 !

JackieRos 10th March 2015 09:33 PM

As long as we get new songs, who cares if she includes it in a new album.

You can add them yourself in iTunes.

mi|kshake 10th March 2015 11:15 PM

I've never listened to Dance Tracks Vol 1 and I don't intend to. I sorta forget it exists lol. Yup Concentration 20 is definitely up there as one of my favourite Namie albums. Sometimes my fave, depending on my mood. Though it definitely took a looooonnnng time to grow on me as an album, before I just loved certain songs from it.

Whilst watching the Live Style 2014 Tour I realised how many singles she's released. I only have Tsuki from Ballada so once we know what will appear on her next album (whenever that's announced) I can buy the rest of iTunes!

It's not that "Dance Tracks Vol 1" are bad or something. They have catching melodies and so on... they are just not that good to want return to them if we have so many great Namie's tracks to choose from.

As for "TSUKI/Neonlight Lipstick/Ballerina" I don't see a reason why she wouldn't include them on new album? Even if not than I guess they'll be released later on another BEST album.

NintendoHTF1242 11th March 2015 02:05 AM

I'm not a big fan of her pre-STYLE stuff but "Don't wanna cry" is my JAM!

thinkingoutloud89 11th March 2015 02:14 AM

Concentration 20 is defenitly one of her strongest albums and holds my fav single (how to be a girl). As for her pre-BODY FEELS EXIT time, shse had greta songs there. especially Try me and Go!Go! (that LS2006 performance OMGSY). I'm an all around Namie fan. She is my number one artist, but i admit I rarely listen to DT and OT Vol.1 in complete, same goes for S19B (all those remixes >.>). I admire all her different style throughout the decades though. (QoHP is my all time favourite album ;P)

Baernash 11th March 2015 02:33 AM

Well... Namie is one of those who keep good level of quality in music all the time. No matter which genre she's trying it's always with good result for her. That's why she's still on the top (also in sales).

Yes it seemed so. When the Mu-Mo CM of Big Boys Cry/Beautiful single was released, it included a snippet of a Beautiful PV (no pun attended, it looked like really beautiful indeed...).
I'll try to find it again, but i'm not sure.

Songs from "60s 70s 80s" were released only on best album but I still think that all songs from "TSUKI" and "BRIGHTER DAY" will be a part of new album.

Earth_maiden 16th March 2015 04:52 PM

I personally feel like Brighter Day just came out not too long ago, but I'm aching for a new Namie album just as much as everyone else. :yes

Gustavopc 16th March 2015 06:16 PM

OMG I DIDNT KNOW ABOUT THIS BEAUTIFUL PV I'M SO MAAAAAD, I LOVE THAT SONG ))))): Whyyyy?

tomiko8 16th March 2015 09:12 PM

Tired of singles, I need another bang up album like "Feel". Seriously!

S4MU3L 17th March 2015 06:25 PM

She already announce a new tour on September 2015, so be prepared for a new album before that!!

Theres no PV for Beautiful, I guess she shoot that for the CM and thats it

pimenta 17th March 2015 06:31 PM

I'm hoping for an album announcement soon, I really really want a new album from her already.

Delicious n Bold 17th March 2015 06:34 PM

Let me save some money first, I'm broke.

Gustavopc 17th March 2015 07:33 PM

If she shot a clip just for the CM then that's just as worse, so much potential on those seconds and wasted...

aloopy 17th March 2015 09:38 PM

SitStayWaitDown was suppose to have a PV as well, but they scrapped that as well

thinkingoutloud89 17th March 2015 10:35 PM

I hape Beautiful has no PV...that CM is only pretty for 10sec but everybody would complain if it was a full PV.

I'm pretty sure if they gave Beautiful a full pv it wouldn't just be 4 minutes of that single shot of her singing the song.

everlastingRAINBOW 18th March 2015 04:05 PM

Ordered the Space of Hip-Hop Blu-ray. Always was my favorite concert (became a Namie fan May 2005) and I am glad I will get to see it again in HD!

I'm waiting for her to announce her 12th original album and slay my existence already :luv2

adantatu2 23rd March 2015 12:41 AM

I think it's time for an album, and I mean a studio album, not compilation.

Pieces_of_SEVEN 24th March 2015 02:35 AM

^seriously. I hope we get some news soon!

Delicious n Bold 24th March 2015 02:46 AM

I just had to ask...

Does anyone remember the radio version of COPY THAT which was leaked before the release of PAST < FUTURE and was different from the album version? If anyone has it, I'd really love to have it again. I'm really sad I lost that file. I remember listening to it a lot when I'd be going to and from school before the album came out and I'd really like to hear it again.

I have it and can upload it tonight, if someone doesn't beat me to it! Bascially it just has a longer outro, and ends acapella. It doesn't fade out like the album!

Chiharo 26th March 2015 12:09 AM

^Oh my god! Thank you so so much! I didn't really expect anyone to have it! You're a life saver!

Yeah, I do remember that the ending was different. And there's also little differences throughout the song that I can't explain very well now but I do remember noticing them before when the album version came out.

I am doing a little conparing now: it sounds like the "electronic noises" aren't as pronounced, but it honestly may just be the quality (the leak was definitely more of a demo). But let me know what you hear!

Chiharo 26th March 2015 01:12 AM

^ I remember noticing that the "electronic noises" were something completely new in the album version. I remember debating whether I liked the radio version more, lol. In any case, I look forward to listening to it again!

orangeakira 26th March 2015 01:38 AM

Yeah, the weird synth radio sounds aren't used in the version that's played in the vidal sassoon commercial.

adantatu2 26th March 2015 11:49 PM

Please share it !! <3

S4MU3L 27th March 2015 03:50 AM

I love how now you can find almost anything from Namie on youtube!! :luv2 All the perfomances of Live Style 2014 is there, Also I found a couple of her full tours, 3 weeks ago I uploaded a Namie song and is still on youtube...

The album version is 4:24 long while the radio-edit is 4:43. The album faded out the last 20 seconds of the original track...

btw some random thing i found. many may not know that she had a different wardrobes for the Space of Hip-Pop tour 2005 which are not those that were wore in the dvd release. They were changed halfway through the tour

Interesting, I never saw those before. The first two are quite nice, but the blue and brow one is kinda ugly, I'm glad she didn't use that one during the DVD concert.

Delicious n Bold 30th March 2015 03:16 AM

INB4 brown is black in that outfit

ayu_ready? 30th March 2015 02:16 PM

will she never release new music since she changed labels or what?

chocopockymaster 30th March 2015 02:38 PM

She changed management companies, not record labels. Her releases have been under Dimension Point for almost a couple of years now.

Gustavopc 30th March 2015 03:38 PM

Indeed. She's released two singles and Ballada under the Dimension Point label

chocopockymaster 30th March 2015 04:19 PM

FEEL was under Dimension Point as well. I think it was the first DP release, iirc.

In any case, I can't believe that album is almost two years old! :tired

Gustavopc 30th March 2015 05:00 PM

I thought it was, but I wasn't sure so I talked only about the 2014 releases hahahah

And yeah, FEEL still sounds fresh to me, while Uncontrolled got me bored already by the time it came out

Corvina 30th March 2015 05:18 PM

For me it's the other way round.
Uncontrolled is so much better than FEEL. Just kept two songs from the latter.

thinkingoutloud89 30th March 2015 05:44 PM

^how dare you :)
but yeah, uncontolled is better in terms of standalone songs.

chocopockymaster 30th March 2015 05:50 PM

I love them both equally but in different ways, lol. I used to think FEEL was my fave but then I bought Uncontrolled and really sat down and listened and fell in love. :heart Picking a favorite between them isn't possible for me :P

I agree, Feel sounds a lot fresher.
Uncontrolled is messy as an album, the album versions are worse than the original versions and because it had lots of old singles it already felt kinda old the day it came out.
The remix on the Blu-ray edition is great though, got me thirsting for a Namie remix album again.

I feel the same way, FEEL is epic but Uncontrolled has amazing tracks, there is not one song in Uncontrolled I dislike.

mi|kshake 30th March 2015 10:47 PM

Yeah, at first I was really disappointed in Uncontrolled (especially coming after Past <Future) but then it clicked one day. It's one of my favourite Namie albums and reminds me of one of my other favourites, Style.

Both Uncontrolled and Style have a good mix of different styles of songs I think.

adantatu2 30th March 2015 11:37 PM

FEEL? Uncontrolled ?
PAST < FUTURE is the best of her last albums.

IMO :)

NintendoHTF1242 30th March 2015 11:44 PM

I love everything Namie releases tbh nothing is worse than the other. From PLAY to PAST<FUTURE to Checkmate! to Uncontrolled to FEEL. All fantastic albums.
