Ayu's YouTube channel has broken 100 million total views!!

I know some Western videos get millions and millions of views EACH, but this is a pretty big accomplishment for Ayu! Congratulations on 100 million~

On a related note: AAA is also a scary force to be reckoned with on YouTube. Some of their videos have like 34 million views.

chronos 16th April 2015 04:49 AM

That's awesome Ayu!! Is YouTube as popular in other countries as it is in the United States?

terra 16th April 2015 04:55 AM

I was wondering if this thing will happen, and it did! Congrats Ayu

truehappiness 16th April 2015 05:05 AM

It probably wouldn't have taken so long if they put up full versions~

YukiUsagi 16th April 2015 05:14 AM

Can anyone explain for me why "You&Me" video has 3.7m+ views?

truehappiness 16th April 2015 05:20 AM

It was a digital 'hit'.

Andrenekoi 16th April 2015 05:20 AM

^The song was a hit.

They need to take lessons from pop stars everywhere else in the world.

Weren't they up at one point when she first started YouTube?

Yes, then they were all set to private. I wonder if the 100 mil includes those because some of them got a lot of views before they just removed it all.

asagarichan 16th April 2015 06:46 AM

Congrats Ayumi!

AyuGAME 16th April 2015 08:27 AM

it's been a while... i think it's been a week that she reached this, but looks like non of her team recognize it...congrats anyway!

It was first preview of the song that we get. And for some time it was video that started to autoplay when you visit her page

ayumisrael 16th April 2015 09:41 AM

Congratulations to ayu!!!
That's pretty amazing.

Btw people still complain that they don't have full versions for her PVs but people forget that in Japan, unlike anywhere else they release CD+DVD and CD+blu-ray versions for their albums/singles and the companies probably think it would hurt their sales a lot..
Remember that these versions sell way more than the CD onlys and they are what keeping Japan the 2nd biggest music markets. They also give multiple versions choices for each album/single, that's probably why.

I myself would like to see full versions there though.

truehappiness 16th April 2015 09:51 AM

I wonder why some acts have full PVs out though on avex.

I'm interested to know as well...
Maybe they believe they will still sell somehow, or they don't have much to lose, or their PVs are their main draw points.

Yoake 16th April 2015 12:08 PM

When did the YT channel be opened?

truehappiness 16th April 2015 12:12 PM

2009ish? 2010?

We had videos around then but...

"Joined Sep 28, 2005" on the ayu channel.

attractive nausea 16th April 2015 12:13 PM

The channel says "Joined Sep 28, 2005"

I think someone else had the ayu name.

31.12.2009 (maybe it was already 01.01.2010 at Japan)

attractive nausea 16th April 2015 12:26 PM

^^ Yes probably, i joined the ayu ship in 2009 so i don't know how things were back then :p

But having her videos in full on youtube really helped me when i was discovering her music, it's sad that they decided to put short versions instead and have removed any pvs of hers uploaded by someone else, for example when i want a friend to listen to one of her songs i don't know how to proceed.

truehappiness 16th April 2015 12:41 PM

The Ayu fandom never really was able to stream much stuff...

For a while I used like Soundcloud and Grooveshark for Ayu previews but you can easily direct someone to iTunes Japan to look up tracks since just about everything is available to listen to.

I don't think it would hurt sales at all. I even think the opposite would be the case. Personally I never bother to watch short ver. of PVs. I don't check an artist out if I can't watch full versions and I would never buy a CD+DVD version when I don't know what the whole product will be like.
And for comparison because he is also under avex: Acid Blach Cherry's latest album is charting for 7 weeks now and has sold 138,345 by now. He has full ver. of his PVs on his official youtube channel. His sales are pretty great compared to others and Ayu could just dream of selling more than 100k of an album anymore.

AyUmIXx 17th April 2015 09:21 AM

yay congratulations ayu for 100 million views on youtube!

J/TOP2326 17th April 2015 11:56 AM

I agree! But I hate its PV...

labello 17th April 2015 01:00 PM

Regarding what ayumisrael and chibi-chan said, I don't think casual listeners would buy the DVD version of an album. I think the DVD is something fans would buy and most fans would probably buy it regardless of the content, maybe even just for the sake of collection it. I feel like the DVD is something that only fans really care about.
Which is why I think uploading full PVs would not do much damage. It might even encourage listeners to buy the full song so they would not have to stream it.

I like it, she's so gorgeous in it.:-P

truehappiness 17th April 2015 01:30 PM

I wonder what sorts of PVs we'd have gotten if she hadn't done the Maro thing.

Aderianu 17th April 2015 01:53 PM

^alternative reality %)
I think without Maro she would not be inspired for some songs or performances

Pieces_of_SEVEN 18th April 2015 12:41 AM

So very pleased at this news. :tbiggrin

Sooooo true. There would be so many more views if Avex got with the times and just allowed the full PVs.
