Manufacturer of ayupans
Hey all,
I noticed this odd typo on some of my ayupans (AXEV instead of AVEX? Or is it even supposed to be avex? I'm not sure), and was wondering if this is typical? I was kind of surprised...has anyone else noticed this before? Along with the other two initials. http://i2.photobucket.com/albums/y13...psgqjfym8z.jpg http://i2.photobucket.com/albums/y13...psqdr0s5be.jpg http://i2.photobucket.com/albums/y13...psgr03pcoh.jpg |
emmm that's my Duty ayupan
http://i.imgur.com/7OS4Usb.jpg now I'm wonder too. From old ayupans I have only 1-12 and some of them clean and some have typo "axev". From RnRC they all come with "amg" |
axev was on a lot of older stuff. avex used to be known as axev up until like 1997 so I am not really sure why it persisted onto items past then but I don't think it was ever in 'error'. It's possible that they named their management division axev up until a certain point.
http://www.itmedia.co.jp/mobile/arti...2/news090.html It was even still 'axev' in 2005. I think I remember seeing "AMG" sometime around 2008-2009. They are all the same thing though. axev = AMG (Avex Management) = AEI (Avex Entertainment Inc.) http://www.4-traders.com/AVEX-GROUP-...roup-18440647/ I think it's got to do with some internal company-related mergers and demergers which resulted in some different names here and there. |
"axev" ugh my brain hurt so much trying to read that
|
Axev? Dear lord. Whats next? Amuya Hasamaki?

truehappiness: Almost, but not quite!
Avex has always been Avex, ever since it was founded in 1988. Axev was a subsidiary that avex started for promotional & management stuff in 1995 (it was called White Atlas until '97 though). Axev was in charge of marketing, goods, artist management, a whole bunch of stuff that's been divided into separate subsidiaries in the years since Max became CEO. Another fun fact, axev is pronounced like "axiv" instead of "axev" for some reason :P (Some english speakers have only one sound for the short i and the short e but to me and for most english speakers they're totally different sounds)... so that makes the word even more confusing :P |
Thanks for the clarification~

Yes, precisely :)
I can't tell you how many times, living in Texas, I've had people pronounce my last name as though it sounds like a tiny stabby thing instead of an ink-based writing implement. Even my own daughter is starting to do it. XD |
thanks for avex-axev
but why some ayupans don't have logo on the feet? |
^Cause it probably just wouldn't look right on the body. I'm glad it's on the feet.

there are actually counterfeit ayupans?! I never would have thought!
|
that's sad, I have 6 without stamp
annoying encore ayupan from Best Live also can't stand, and I get it from mu-mo |
Interesting! Given the softness of the plastic it's not surprising that some can't stand on their own... I do have some trouble with even some of the genuine ones, but the only one that REALLY can't stand ever at all is the one with no stamp.
And yeah, there were definitely bootleg ayupans back in the day... I have no idea how common they are now. But yeah, when Ayu was closer to her peak of popularity, and when bootlegged merchandise was more common, there were a bunch of fake ayupans. I couldn't tell you for sure how common they are these days, since the things that used to be used to ID the fakes - like crappy paint jobs - are things I see on ebay sometimes, but with no, like confirmation that the ayupan came from mu-mo or a concert venue, and no confirmation on whether or not they're copyright stamped. I'd need a pretty big sample size to go off of and with Ayu being more & more niche nowadays, that's something I just don't have :( |
I used to think that those without the stamp on the foot is the bootlegs too but these 'special' type only appeared on the 1st set of ayupans, the Arena 2002. Never had I saw these special types on other batch of ayupans except the Arena 2002.
So I think that those are the 1st batch of ayupans where avex haven't decided to do any branding on the ayupan itself. It just doesn't make sense that bootlegs only appeared on the 1st set and not continuing the production. And a compare of both the special type and the branded type, the material and painting is the same. You get shitty paint job on the branded type too. |
There were a lot of bootleg ayu pans back in the day. From slight colour differences to ones that looked real but weren't even part of the official set
http://eneabba.net/ayu/ayupan/ is a good site to look up the ayu pans. Going by this there are also Modified ayu pans. But hasn't been updated since 2010 |

I have one definately bootleg Marionette ayupan, her hair mat without shining layer =)
Anyone have HQ photos of first ayupans? I want to compare them with mine. I checked here http://completeayupan.blogspot.ru/20...yupan-1-3.html they looks a little dirty. I think mine painted a little better |

First ayupans meaning the 1st set of 12? I'll try to remember to take some pictures for the comparison tonight. Original ayupans do comes with painting error and defects too. Just heard recently from tiffany that she used to have the HLS eyes smoke magic ayupan without the hat... (I would have bought it from her if I knew it earlier....) |

I remember I read that all of them painted by hands. So no wonder some may have deffects. Ayupan without hat is so special! It's like coin with mistake |
Here's the photos for the ayupans comparison.
Spoiler:
About your marionette ayupan could you take a pic or see if it's the same as mine? (This ayupan is kinda different from the others as it's a lighter color hair. So when you said it's mat, is it bcos of the color? Spoiler:

Thanks a lot! So my ayupans don't look bad
