ʕ•̫͡•ʔ ABOUT HIKKI
Spoiler:
Utada Hikaru (宇多田ヒカル) is a Japanese pop singer-songwriter under the Emi Music Japan label. Utada is one of Japan's most successful artists of all time. Her debut album First Love is the #1 best selling album in Asian music history with over 7.65 million copies sold in Japan alone. In total she has sold over 38,000,000 million records in Japan, and 3 of her albums are in the Top 10 best-selling albums of all time in Japan (#1, #4, #8), making her one of the most successful and popular singers in J-pop history. Utada is bilingual as she was raised in both New York and Tokyo. She is also known in the west under her English language project name 'Utada', most famous for singing the Kingdom Hearts theme song, "Hikari / Simple And Clean" and the Kingdom Hearts II theme song, "Passion / Sanctuary". Initially, Utada's music had a heavy R&B style to it, but later her music progressed to a more pop / experimental tone. Her distinct R&B sound brought her much attention with her first release in Japan, "Automatic / time will tell". Utada was married to director Kiriya Kazuaki, who directed the movie CASSHERN, but in March 2007 the couple split.
On August 9, 2010, Utada announced plans to go on indefinite hiatus following the release of "Utada Hikaru SINGLE COLLECTION VOL.2", her second compilation album. On November 24, 2010, "Utada Hikaru SINGLE COLLECTION VOL.2" was released. It debuted atop the Oricon charts once again. It has also been anounced that Utada has severed ties with Island Def Jam, who releases her English language works. She has secured a global contract with EMI Music. Upon returning from her hiatus, all her future releases will be under the name Utada Hikaru regardless of the country of release.
Utada Hikaru has been deemed the Most Influential Japanese Artist of the past decade (2000-2010) by Japan Times.

Hikki got married on May 24, 2014!
[2014/02/10] A message to my fans in Italy, and members of the Italian press (and other curious people)
Due to the unexpected intensity of media attention in Italy regarding our upcoming marriage, please allow my fiancé and I to express some of our feelings in our own words.
A message to my fans in Italy, and members of the Italian press (and other curious people)
I never thought that the news of my marriage with an Italian guy "normale" would be met with so much excitement in Italy.
To me, my fiance is just "my man" and for him I am just "his woman." Many journalists have been asking how we met. The truth is quite boring---we met through a mutual friend. He is younger than me but in some ways more mature. I was drawn to his courage and his values regarding family, friends, work, life, love---and when I met his family, I saw where it all comes from.
I am touched and excited by the warm reception of so many people in Italy… but I must implore you to respect the privacy of my fiance and his family. Being the target of public attention can be very stressful and scary, and it would sadden me greatly to see my new family under duress or in danger because of me.
I heard rumors about some fans possibly organizing a bus tour to the location of our wedding. I have always been grateful for the support of my fans who remain loyal to me, and it is truly amazing to feel the excitement you share with me, and so it pains me to have to say this, but please understand that a wedding is not a show. I hope we can meet one day under more appropriate circumstances.
We would like to share our wedding photos with you all. I hope this will help to alleviate any potential chaos on the day of the wedding.
Thank you.
Hikaru Utada
--------------------------------------
Hello Everybody!
As you probably already know, I am Hikaru’s fiancé and I work as a bartender in a London hotel.
It’s a decent job that gives me a decent life, just like anybody else. I come from a modest family background: honest folk, loved and respected by the people in my home town and who taught me what honesty, love, sacrifice and work all mean. They never let me want for anything and above all, showed me how to face life with optimism and courage.
I guess it must seem strange to think that a suburban guy like me, doing a normal job, gets together with a superstar like Hikaru. Indeed, when it all started, even I found it difficult to believe.
Well our roads crossed and as time went by we got to know each other and found that we had loads of things in common, among which, and most relevant, our deep and reciprocal love.
To be honest, when I left my beloved home town in Puglia in an attempt to create a future in London, I never imagined that I would be where I am today, but if the Lord has made this decision, so be it. I trust in Him.
I introduce myself to you, fans and press, with these few words, and especially to all Italians, the people I am so proud of, and I ask you all to offer support and respect to the lady who is to be my future wife, also to Mr. Teruzane who will become my second dad and, last but not least, to my family.
Thank you all for your understanding.
With my very best wishes

^ I like that. Notice they are also doing a take on Utada's "Goodbye Happiness" Music Video as well.
I like it that thugs be over there repping Utada, lol. Let me find out Tiddy Bear Girl got Street Cred.
Although..........marijuana is dangerous over in Japan. Hope they're Olay.

Thanks for posting that PV! Sakura Drops is my favourite song of all time and it's great to hear it sampled! I love it when songs are sampled in a non-obvious way!

this this this.
I love you hikki, but ugh, I need new music. Even the cover album didn't hold my interest as long as I thought it would, and I can only listen to Sakura nagashi so many times before I start skipping it on my ipod.
I was actually going to make a new thread. I was even trying to make it look nice by listing her discography in a "graphic design" type of way and designing everything, but then I thought to myself, what's the point? Who cares really? Someone else can make the thread. Why put all this effort into something when you can just start a new thread that takes two seconds to copy and paste stuff from wiki and it would be just as good? lol I gave up.
(which will be like a decade from now unless she gets off her ass and releases something)

He's some Bartender in France. That's how they met. I imagine Utada isn't taking all this time off to be by herself. Especially since if this thing works out, her husband will never have to work another day in his life. :|

That music video was wild... lol I didn't know Japanese rappers were so explicit. So... Uh... What do we even talk about? lol. We're not getting any music news till closer to the end of the year I assume.
Gotta hand it to Hikki though, we're still able to fill up threads even though her release schedule has been dryer than Yuna Ito's career. You go girl!

I hope the end of the year is when we get a new album, not when we get news about a new album. I want to find out by the end of summer/beginning of autumn that we're getting an album soon, not wait until December to find out that we're getting a new album in March or something. That'd suck.

I can't believe I didn't realize until the 15th anniversary release of First Love that B&C stands for Bonnie and Clyde. I guess since I never owned a physical copy of the album, and I personally consider it her worst album ever I never actually looked at the lyrics to any of the songs.
Up until the anniversary release, the only songs I ever listened to from that album were automatic, time will tell, first love, and amai wana. Then I really gave it another listen with the remastered quality and actually looked through the album booklet. I still think it's the worst of her five studio japanese albums, but I give it a lot of respect.
But, I'm still amazed that I've been an Utada fan for 13 years, and I now realized that B&C means Bonnie & Clyde

^Well, since we only ever got the videos on DVD, that's about as High Definition as you're going to get with the videos. Jpopsuki has all the videos on there if you have an account.
Also HD is such vague word. I wish we could make the interent discontinue using it. Ever since youtube came around, it has become so watered down. So many people used to (and sometimes still) put things like "Super Extra High Quality HD" as a title for a video that's 480p. Honestly, unless it's 720 or 1080 at the very minimum, it's not HD.

You don't know what I'm talking about? Haven't you ever been onto youtube and seen people just slap "HD" at the end of a video title that's like 360 or 480p? People don't seem to know what "High Definition" actually means. Isn't there a DVD Rip thread on AHS that says "Super High Quality"? As if DVD quality is actually that great or "super high". It's not so much a problem anymore, but pretty much up until 2010, if a video seemed to be higher quality than 240p, people had a tendency to call the video "Super High Definition quality".

Ughh i don't have JPOPSuki account. Is that the site where you gotta have some invites first before joining?
And btw ofcourse When I say HD i definitely mean either 720p or 1080p. LOL I have no idea there are videos on YT that pretends to be HD because whenever I search for HD videos, i sort them first quality-wise. Do you know that youtube has that feature? LOOOOL

Me and my best friend has a joke that Square Enix waited until hikki would return to business to release the game.
Such fantastic trailers, yet no release date yet *sobs* if hikki will have a song on it. Please no Simple & Clean/Sanctuary again, I want a new hikki song for KHIII if hikki will be involved.
Maybe they will give kuu to sing the new song because of her live video screens of WOML tour where she's a part of the organization 13 lol.

I assume it's for the last Evangelion movie. Someone in the last thread said the last movie is coming out this year, and since she's done the last three might as well be consistent lol

Remember when her music went Christian AND became rustic (Farm Station)

I do hope she's doing a new song for the movie. In movie 2 they just make a plantib remix.
But I'm happy that she's making a new song :).

Tetsuya Nomura may announce the release date for KH3 in November in a KH fan event so it's highly possible that Hikki will sing another epic theme for KH series. :)

The song and the cover. Poor Utada on the cover, she looks like she hasn't slept in weeks. I feel her pain.

how is the cover terrifying? the off shots make her look like a crack head, but the official cover, if anything, is just boring.

You people are too obsessed with looks. Stop it. :'D Hikki still sold 7 million copies with this album, why do you care how she looks like on the cover? It's the music that counts and First Love is hell of a epic debut album. :roflmao

Heart Station's cover seems to be more iconic than First Love's cover.
Like "this seems/sounds better than that." You're not actually listening to it (whatever it may be).

True but if the cover wasn't important then she wouldn't have bothered making a cover and we would've gotten something like the single collection covers, but she wanted us to see her hairy lipped ass on the cover to establish the mood of the album.

ARE YOU FUCKING KIDDING ME@?!
she had a boy!? She was pregnant!? SHE HAD SEX!? You think you'd mention these things maybe once or twice to the general public.
I didn't realize she was side saddling pee wee herman in private. I knew they were married, but it never even occured to me that they would have done anything. I thought she couldn't have kids? Didn't she have a tumor in her uterus years ago that was removed?
Also two things are popping in my mind right now. The lyrics for About me "What if I don't want a baby yet?" Over ten years ago, I guess she's ready now. lol
And now that I think about it, maybe the video for Sakura nagashi was a hint at what she was trying to do? It shows a baby being born. Maybe that was her "subtle hint" to everyone that she was ready and thinking about it.

I just realized that this baby is going to grow up knowing English, Japanese, and Italian, and that is going to be the coolest thing ever. Please don't fuck this up hikki by only teaching them English.
I had a friend in high school who was mixed race. His dad was from Mexico and spoke Spanish and English both fluently, and his mom was from Vietnam and spoke, English, Vietnamese, and Mandarin all fluently. They decided that they didn't want to "confuse" their son, and raised him only knowing English, and to this day he never got over it. His heritage was pretty crazy. He had family members that spoke Japanese as well. So I went to one of his birthday parties, and his extended family came over and I heard so many languages being spoken, and there was my poor friend only knowing English. He had cousins that were half his age that knew three languages.
I don't think I'd ever get over something like that either.
On a side note. The party was fun and really weird. There were pinatas and tapas, and tacos, and Chinese paper lanterns, and lo-mein noodles, and it was such a crazy cool mixture of two cultures.

That's not how it works here lol
I'm jealous. I wish I was naturally fluent in just more than English. I could have been fluent in Italian but that's water under the bridge...
At least the kid will know two completely different languages and even a Romance language.
