X JAPAN's Wembley Performance and Album Release Postponed

Quote:

X JAPAN's guitarist PATA has reportedly been hospitalized since January 15th with colonic diverticulitis and portal vein thrombosis. PATA was initially admitted to the hospital's intensive care unit and is receiving I.V. treatment at this time.

The band's new album, slated for release on March 11th, 2016, has been postponed indefinitely. Additionally, the group's upcoming performance in London, scheduled for March 12th, has been pushed back to March 4th, 2017.

The band's members have each released statements regarding PATA's hospitalization.

YOSHIKI: "My heart is overwhelmed with sadness. I'm more sorry than words can convey to upset our fans like this. Even though I'm always saying 'SHOW MUST GO ON', right now I can do nothing but monitor PATA's condition. I'm constantly praying that this will not turn into a tragedy for X JAPAN. Without our fans, there is no X JAPAN. I promise that we will come back from this stronger than ever."

Toshi: "For causing all our fans so much worry, I offer my heartfelt apologies. I'm looking forward to making more music with PATA and the rest of X JAPAN."

HEATH: "I'm deeply sorry about the postponements of our new album and our performance at Wembley Arena. Right now, in order to bring the complete X JAPAN experience to you all, we'll need a little more time. When we're able, we're going to bring our very best sounds and performances, so please look forward to the future."

SUGIZO: "X JAPAN without PATA is unimaginable. I'll continue to wait."

YOSHIKI talks about PATA's condition - album to be released in Autumn?
Quote:

YOSHIKI appeared at "Shin Keizai Summit 2016 (新経済サミット2016)" on April 7th, and during his appearance he mentioned about current condition of PATA", who was hospitalized recently, and about X JAPAN's upcoming new album.

"He (PATA) has got out of the hospital, and is getting better little by little", YOSHIKI said about PATA's condition. He also talked about their upcoming album, which's release has been currently postponed. "It will be released sooner than you all think. I don't think anyone believes this when I say it though", he laughed, saying that the album will be released before the postponed Wembley Arena show. When asked if it would be released this Autumn, YOSHIKI commented: "How did you know? You're on a very good track."

“His health is improving slowly but surely,” Yoshiki says. “We can’t really say when he’s going to be 100% recovered. But we are moving forward. Some members are playing his part as well as recording. I’m even playing too. I would say the record’s going to be out this Fall. Then we want to go back to [regular] activity to tour and performing somewhere around the same time. Pata may not be able to join in full on stage, because I also don’t want to give him any pressure. When he went to the ICU, and that was January 16th this year, some of the members were in a recording studio in Los Angeles. So Toshi, the vocalist, and Sugizo, the guitar player, were in the recording studio. We were trying to finish the album. We were working almost 24/7. Then we heard the news, Pata is in the ICU. ‘Can I talk to him?’ We couldn’t even get to him.”

“He was in the ICU for one week,” Yohiki continues. “One week later his manager says, ‘Yoshiki, He wants to talk to you.’ Then Pata was saying, ‘What should I do about Wembley? What about Wembley?’ I said, ‘What are you talking about?’ ‘I need to do Wembley.’ All he could think of was Wembley.” The doctor detailed there was no way Pata was physically able to proceed until he healed. “So I talk to the doctor,” Yoshiki recalls. “‘He has a blood clot. There’s no way we’re going to let him travel on airplane. He can get to Wembley. He may even be able to do something but he’s never going to come back. That’s the end of his life.’ I said, ‘I can’t do that.’ There’s no way I’m losing another member.” His guidance for Pata was to maintain his recovery as long as it took. “So I said, ‘Pata forget about Wembley. Well, we can’t forget about it. But as the leader of the band, I’ll take care of it. Even though I’m going to get all the blame for anything. I’ll do that. Pata, concentrate on fixing your body,’” he details. “I don’t want to give him any pressure. X Japan will start this October touring again. It may even happen that he can join on a few songs. We might have to have a support member.“

YOSHIKI (X JAPAN) has donated 10 million JPY (approximately $90,499 USD) to support victims of the Kumamoto earthquake. This donation was made by his nonprofit foundation Yoshiki Foundation America.

YOSHIKI, who was in Japan at the time of the disaster, was disheartened by the amount of damage caused by the earthquake. He wanted to do something for the victims, so he donated 10 million JPY to Japanese Red Cross' Kumamoto Earthquake Relief Fund.

"As with the time of the Tohoku Earthquake, I am impressed at how orderly the disaster stricken areas are and also how composed the victims are. I want to continue to show the world this Japanese spirit, which has been admired worldwide," he expressed.

Someone going to Wembley btw? I'm going together with a friend who is also a member here.
I'm so excited! I always wanted to see them live as a teenager and wouldn't have thought to ever be able to. <3 And there even is a signing session on friday. <3

They also just posted a link for a new song, it's so beautiful: https://www.yahoo.com/music/song-pre...165116535.html
And an acoustic version of La Venus: http://www.rollingstone.com/music/vi...dtrack-w468311

Chibi-Chan 5th March 2017 05:36 PM

I went to the concert yesterday. It really was amazing! Easily the best one I ever attended. They first showed a Wembley edition of the film, which was great and very emotional (I cried) and was about an hour long (and a half? Can't really remember because the opening of the concert with Rusty Nail right after the film ended was so great that I didn't looked at my phone) and then they played until 11 pm. Minus the time between the show and the first encore as well as the first and second encore, it must have been a show almost 3 (2 and a half?) hours long.
Even though I was standing all the time, I didn't got tired and not once wanted to sit down. They interacted a lot with the fans. Yoshiki made fun of themselves apologizing for the delay of the new album and after naming a few reasons saying "yes every excuese is welcome". The way he said that was very sweet. He then continued saying that it is really almost 99% finished and just one thing missing: they wanted to record the fans voices for a new song. So Toshi teached us how to sing. It was very emotional.
During another part Yoshiki sat at the piano, asking Toshi if he wanted to say something, Toshi seemed a little confused and asked "Say something?" and Yoshiki replied "Yes you wanted to say something". Toshi joked "Say anything?" and the fans were cheering, so Yoshiki started to play it on the piano and we were all singing together with Toshi.
Every member also had their solo parts, especially amazing was Sugizo on the violin.
I had to cry a few times because they played so many songs I wanted to hear live since I was 12 and though I would never be able to.
Furthermore they if course didn't forget Hide and Taiji, especially Hide was seen on the screen a few times. ;_; I cried again. lol
There was also the 3rd movement of Art of Life. It was very moving. I so love Art of Life! ♡
If course there were also a lot of energetic parts which were amazing and countless "We are X" moments.
It was pretty obvious that the show ment a lot to them, they all seemed very moved and I had the feeling they wanted to make the delay of the show and album up to us fans, since you were able to buy a tshirt PLUS a limited edition of the film soundtrack for just 30£. This is a very fair price I think.

Then there also was a signing session on friday I went to. It was very special to me since I was able to talk to Yoshiki and he praised me for my Japanese. I told him that the music of X was very important to me since my childhood and that tomorrow a dream becomes true and thanked him. Japanese people are easily to impress most of the time with just saying "arigatou", but since Yoshiki told me my Japanese was great and he interacted with me, I was very happy. ♡

Oh and a lot of Japanese fans came to London for the concert, also a lot of older ones in cosplay. It was great to see so many old fans!

If anyone is interested, I made 4 videos or so, they are just a few seconds long because I don't like recording that much during a concert since I'm not really able to comcentrate on the show then, but if anyone wants me to upload them I happily share. =)
I also made a few photos if someone wants to see them. Even though I was pretty far away and there isn't that much to see.

^Ah yeah I read somewhere that some people had to get a paper signed because there weren't enough copies. As far as I catched the situation from what the security was talking, there were a lotbof people who didn't got a ticket for the signing session but they let them line up behind everyone else. So I guess that's why?

Someone filmed the whole thing? Wow that must be exhausting. Is the quality any good?

Aderianu 6th March 2017 05:39 PM

oh that was nice to allow more people attend session

video is 30Gb hdtv-ts. I didn't download it yet

Chibi-Chan 7th March 2017 07:32 PM

Ayu's expression is horrible and I actually try to ignore her when looking at the photo. But I thought it was so cute how YOSHIKI is totally into taking that selfie, ToshI being all amused and PATA, HEATH and SUGIZO looking as if they don't give a shit what's going on right now. lol

EMERGENCY SURGERY FOR YOSHIKI OF X JAPAN TO TAKE PLACE

It has been determined by multiple doctors that YOSHIKI of X JAPAN will undergo an emergency cervical artificial disc replacement surgery on Tuesday, May 16 in Los Angeles.

As a result of YOSHIKI’s intense drumming style and the impact it has had on his physical health, he was diagnosed with cervical foraminal stenosis in July 2009, and then underwent a cervical laminectomy and a cervical foraminotomy. After suffering from a herniated disc that has worsened over the past six months, YOSHIKI has experienced symptoms including numbness and severe paralysis of the left hand and arm, which have since been affecting his musical performances. Upon receiving a complete examination by his doctors in both Japan and the U.S., YOSHIKI was diagnosed with cervical foraminal stenosis (radiculopathy of the left arm and herniation of intervertebral disc C5-C6). After thorough consultation, YOSHIKI has no choice but to undergo surgery at this time.

YOSHIKI has been informed by a neurosurgeon in Japan that his neck has experienced severe damage that would force a professional rugby player to retire. It has been medically determined that he is approaching his limit, both physically and mentally. The intensive schedule has taken its toll on his already damaged nervous system. With performances at Visual Japan Summit Festival, Yoshiki Classical Special in Japan, Hong Kong, Carnegie Hall in New York and Wembley Arena in London, he has continued to play around the world with X JAPAN and solo. In addition to adopting an intensive travel schedule to over 20 film festivals globally to promote the documentary WE ARE X, contributed to his health condition.

“I had the pleasure of seeing Yoshiki, who has a C5-6 disc herniation with left arm radiculopathy. He has been recommended to have a cervical artificial disc replacement.” explains Neel Anand, M.D., YOSHIKI’s Orthopedic Spine surgeon in the U.S.

Dr. Tommy Tomizawa, M.D., adds “It was decided upon consultation that he will undergo emergency surgery as the condition of his neck at present will interfere not only with his career as an artist, but also with everyday life. From viewing the results of the MRI and CT scans, the damage is so severe that it is apparent that he has experienced considerable pain while performing. As this would be his second such procedure, we eliminated the option of a cervical foraminotomy, an operation in which a portion of bone is removed. Yoshiki’s symptoms reappeared at the Visual Japan Summit festival, which was held last October in Japan. By the time he performed in January of this year at New York’s Carnegie Hall, he had already lost the sensation in his left hand. The symptoms worsened this March following the U.K. Wembley performance, but he continued recording. Even in his condition at that state, Yoshiki stated that he wanted to see things through to the end. However, due to the worsening of his symptoms, doctors, determined that if the situation continued he would have gone beyond the point of surgery and recovery.”

The operation is to be performed on May 16th at a Los Angeles hospital. Unfortunately, the cancellation of all scheduled activity in May could not be avoided. X Japan’s World Tour of Japan We Are X 2017 dates in July, the Yoshiki Premium Dinner Show dates in August and September, as well as yet-to-be-announced dates for the summer world tour that was to start in Los Angeles, are now undergoing rescheduling with his U.S. agency William Morris Endeavor.

Following YOSHIKI’s operation, a discussion whether to cancel, postpone or move forward as scheduled will be held amongst the agent, promoter and management.

We deeply apologize for the inconvenience this will cause to fans and everyone involved.
