It pretty much depends on the arranger and the type of song ayu wants.
TK mainly composes music for ayu and he doesn't arrange it (and he does mostly ballad/mid tempos for her). For globe TK did mostly everything but most of their songs were up beat like that.

I put the original in the first post. It's really similar but with a more modern sound.

To me the song is so-so. the introduction is good but the rest of the arrangement is quite flat and repetitve actually, I could listen to it before to go to sleep. Movin'on without you was better.

I died when coming to AHS to see a preview of Ayu's mix was already available and it sounds amazing!!

This song has always been one of my favorites, especially the trance mix.

It's adding intensity as it progresses. That's what makes many classic moments so amazing. It's such an evolutionary piece. Appreciate the journey!

^It was announcement a couple of weeks ago, but only now they announced the final tracklist.

Many Classic Moments is a great song, it's usually in my workout list of songs. Her version is so simitar to the original, that it feels really natural. Can't wait to listen to the whole song.

Instrumentation is cool but the song did nothing for me. No joy, no excitement, no sadness. It's just there lol I don't listen to globe so I can't indulge in the nostalgia.

There's so much to this song! Maybe it's nostalgia influenced but even so, I loved it from the first minute I heard the trance mix waaaay back when because I could feel so much coming from it. The melody is a bit eerie, haunting even, yet still super emotional. The bridge is spectacular, and I can't wait to hear how Ayu handles that! I feel this song is really intense, and I love how the bridge brings that intensity up a notch further.

Ayu sings it with such conviction. I love that from her.

OH MAN. I just listened to the original first (my 1st time listening to it) so I could get a true understanding. Listening to globe's version I was like "This is really cool!"

Then I listened to Ayu's and I am estatic. She sounds AMAZING. I feel like she's really using her voice for what it's worth!!! So cool! The background music is really great, too. I just want to have a dance party.

Whoa, that's really cool that she's covering this song. Many Classic Moments is a great globe song. From what I can tell, the instrumental piece sounds pretty similar to the original. I'm listening to the original version right now XD For those unfamiliar with globe... their songs are the epitome of repetitive lol it does get annoying at times. The total length of the original Many Classic Moments is about 6:52 long!!! Almost 7 minutes!!! And that's not even their longest... they have songs 10 minutes+++

I find the song really boring xD

I listened to Globe original song after Ayu's cover. The original is really nice and I feel the intensity that you're talking about. But The arrangement in Ayu's version doesn't convey the same thing at all. Ayu's voice is ok, you hear that she's trying to add another dimension but the arrangement doesn't follow her and just make the song monotone and standardised.

But you can't judge that based on the preview, the intensity and evolution could come right after where the previews stops.

It already sounds smashing though with no relation to that.

Wasn't talking about Ayu's version but about the original, which isn't EDM. It's a typical jpop song, maybe with electronic elements, but mostly every pop song has those.

I don't think it's fair to judge "EDM" in general, as it's not only what you hear on the radio. EDM has a seemingly limitless amount of subgenres, one of which you are bound to enjoy (for example, LOVEppears is technically EDM). It's just really difficult to grasp that when the market is currently extremely saturated with the same sound/sub-genre.

I actually really like it! Heard ayu's version first but after listening to the original, I'm really excited to hear what she does with the rest of the song.

I would be agree if the lenght of the preview was 30 sec. But seriously, here it's around 3 min. It's enough to have a proper view about a song yet. Moreover, the original song have the intensity since the beginning while ayu's cover loses it after the introduction.

So I've been dancing to this preview non-stop. I think I need help.

After seeing all these comments I listened to the original song and I get what you all mean with the song building up after the snippet we got, so yeah I might enjoy the full thing if it really takes off, too bad the snippet seems not to be making it any justice

But the original song is almost +4 more minutes (it's around 6:52ish), maybe on ayu's case it just starts after the first chorus, it doesn't have to be the same intensity as in the original, but it's fine if you prefer it to be from the beginning. ^^

You know my mind can change after having the full song. It's always possible as it already happened that I ended to like songs that made me feel nothing in the past. Sometime my mood is playing a big role in my love and hate of a song too.

It's not bad, but I'm not very excited about it. It kinda reminds me of Terminal, just less repetitive and not as screechy.

I wanted her to sing DEPARTURES, because I kinda liked the a-nation performance, but I wanted to hear a studio version with polished vocals and stuff.

Funny cause I hate Terminal and love this.
This song centers around luscious pads, Terminal centers around harsh synths.

Well, I'm not saying they're identical. I can just feel a tiny hint of Terminal in there, but overall the two songs are different. I think some of the chord progressions remind me of Terminal? So it's more about composition than arrangement. Maybe something else, too, but I can't really pinpoint what it is. I'm not really good at analysing thoroughly :D
