Aramajapan doesn't deserve to be called news site... and any attention

kendelle 21st May 2017 12:48 PM

It's a nice surprise to see the article being quite non-judgemental, considering Ayu's retirement was their April Fool's joke and they left it untagged as a joke for several days.

It's a pity that we're pleasantly surprised that she wasn't outright mocked for it

EndOfTheWorld 21st May 2017 11:34 PM

I thought that too. I was a bit worried that it would be a bit negative and that people may make rude remarks or jokes but I am glad it was a neutral post.
Maybe the good side of this news is that the haters and biased media will ease up on her for a while.:shrug

Reported also on ATRL

A lot of users seems to like Ayu on that site.

ikr. Whenever I see her name and arama in the same sentence I automatically prepare for the worst.

YUKARI 22nd May 2017 04:43 AM

Singaporean The Straits Times also published an article about ayu

http://www.straitstimes.com/lifestyl...ompletely-deaf

EndOfTheWorld 22nd May 2017 05:06 AM

Some more articles have been added to the original post including the one YUKARI found.:thumbsup

Nah, considering that even some of her fans on here are calling her stupid and are so upset that she won't retire/take a break, I can't imagine antis suddenly feeling sympathy for her.

relmy 22nd May 2017 12:57 PM

Fans are worse than the non-fans for giving Ayu a hard time.

Most of the comments are just a mess, but fans can be brutal.

KarenPang 22nd May 2017 01:02 PM

Yahoo Singapore also publish about this - https://sg.style.yahoo.com/j-pop-leg...032007704.html

My family buys The Strait Times everyday & this appeared at the last page of the Life entertainment section which I took

Honestly I feel really horrible for Ayu . My family has a history of hearing problems (my late paternal grandfather had hearing problems , so does my dad & myself) so I know that feeling too well

And knowing that now Ayu is in the process of going to be completely deaf coupled with knee problems , it's just so awful

In 2008 Ayu lost her left ear hearing and ironically this's happening all over again , only a lot more worst which's a downright terrible way in welcoming her 20th anniversary :x

On a side note , I frankly feel that the Singapore local media do not respect Japanese musicians to a certain extent because only big worthy news (when SMAP disbanded , X JAPAN's Yoshiki had his surgery) , they will publish

Aside from that , no :no

thanks!

I just tried to google Japanese news and all I saw was like 'ayumi hamasaki doesn't wear bra?!' (with the newest pic from instagram) and 'ayu looks like a professional women restler' (with pics from the tour).
:irked

AyuWorld 22nd May 2017 05:57 PM

^
I saw someome said so too. They called her a restler? At this moment? Poor Ayu :(

Honesly I didnt know even Malay Mail reported bout this. I cant with those headlines, I just got tears again when I see those :(

URANUS 22nd May 2017 06:08 PM

As a long time fan (since I heard "TO BE" on the radio in 1999), I have grown with Ayu's music and it is a part of who I am today. She's the one I listened to when I was sad, happy, and angry at life and its moments. Her discography is so huge and amazing that I can't believe it's real. She's a huge inspiration to me and the moment I heard this news - it really shocked me for a while. This was something I was afraid of happening when I heard she was losing her hearing.

The thing I am most worried about is not that I won't be hearing any new music from her in the future. It's that she won't be able to hear. Poor Ayu doesn't deserve this.

Earth_maiden 22nd May 2017 06:22 PM

I wonder how she feels that she posted this to Team Ayu and it's already gone global. I mean I know it wouldn't stay private but still, she says she can feel free to express herself via TA and then her post gets shared everywhere. I'm not sure if she expected it or not.

Surreal17 22nd May 2017 06:27 PM

I'm sure she expected it since the same situation happened back in 2008.

EndOfTheWorld 23rd May 2017 02:18 AM

New article added from Crunchyroll and also Nextshark. I have never heard of that one.:dead
But they used really nice photos for that one.:heart

EndOfTheWorld 24th May 2017 05:05 AM

I found this really nice video made by a Youtuber about Ayu. I see a good amount of warm comments too.

This video reports the facts but also touches upon the two perspectives of Ayu's decision.

Got this in an email today. The actual email subject was "Singer Ayumi Hamasaki Losing Hearing in Right Ear." I was surprised to see that in my inbox, really...

EndOfTheWorld 24th May 2017 06:59 AM

A friend of mine who actually doesn't even like Ayu saw that article and sent a screenshot of it to me saying she was shocked. I'll add it to the list.:yes
I am surprised how global it has become and that the news is reaching people who do not even follow Ayu.:think

koumori 24th May 2017 10:10 AM

Thanks for the news round-up. I am sure Ayu expected this to happen - posting it on Team Ayu just made sure her fans found out first, but there's no way she meant for this to be kept a secret. She just let the word spread naturally rather than an official press release.
I'm still processing it all myself, it feels horrible. I always hoped her loss of hearing before was a freak situation due to severe tinnitus and damage from the ear infection she had in 2000. But now the other ear as well? It's too sad...

AyuWorld 24th May 2017 10:37 AM

So true, I didnt expect this news to get a wode coverage from my country, Malaysia's, local media. And so many people who are not fans but surely knew her from the famous Trauma dance video are symphatising with her. Poor Ayu... it is heartbreaking to see the headlines everywhere on the net :(

Sure.:thanks2::heart
I thought it would be good to collect the news in one place and also to document the moment. This is one of the most historic moments in Ayu history.:teek
Another interesting thing is that I believe the fact that this news has become so global proves that Ayu is actually still very relevant despite declining sales. I mean for American places like OtakuUSA and Crunchyroll to make a whole article about her is impressive.

Isicio 25th May 2017 02:32 AM

I'm so sad, I want more albums and tours and go to a to tour. I'm not surprised about this because she was doing a lot of lives every year, the tour, two ta tours, and the countdown live. Maybe if she was doing tours with 3 years of difference the problem doesn't happen now but in the future.

DA1SUK1DAY01691 25th May 2017 12:25 PM

I regret having not gone to a tour when I was in Japan, but as a 'lost fan' (someone who hasn't been following her for the past few years), I still want her to be able to do what she loves. To me, that means taking a break for a bit; she's probably the most hard-working entertainer, and has been so for at least 15 years. She deserves at least a year to take care of herself and "be selfish".

Katsuyuki012 25th May 2017 02:17 PM

I'm not sure if someone said it but the German site 'Sumikai' also wrote about this. https://sumikai.com/news/nachrichten...ieren-179181/#

AyuWorld 25th May 2017 06:34 PM

It breaks my heart into pieces seeing more and more news about Ayu on our local media sites, reading it in your own language, ugh, like suddenly everyone cares about Ayumi Hamasaki and not this is not a fun/good news to be hyped about. >_>

God please, hoping for a miracle to happen...

It probably would be good to add articles in other languages besides English for the users who don't know English well.:yes

I just added a new article by Arama. A Musician’s Sacrifice: Ayumi Hamasaki and 9 other Japanese artists with hearing damage
I had no idea that other artists like Mika Nakashima had hearing problems at any point in time. Interesting.
And to be honest I feel that Arama should remove it's April Fool's article of Ayu. It was in poor taste to begin with and was almost a bit hateful. Now with the news of Ayu facing more hearing challenges, I feel that it would be respectful to remove it. I know if I was the person who wrote that piece, I would feel so guilty right about now.:no

MIKA hasn't just had hearing problems. She also almost permanently lost her voice around the end of 2010. She went on indefinite hiatus just before the release of her album STAR.

gogirlanime 3rd June 2017 05:05 PM

How are there not more comments in here, and how is it than anyone here is saying anything other than this is a tragedy and I feel so bad for her, she has sacrificed so much. Can you imagine how much she's going to die spiritually if she goes completely deaf? She won't be able to hear or make music ever again! Ayu, you've done enough, I hope you take what you still have and retire. I'd rather her be happy with some hearing for the rest of her life than have us suck her dry. She's done enough for us.

truehappiness 5th June 2017 03:08 AM

More comments are in the other thread where we first got the news.

EndOfTheWorld 6th June 2017 10:48 AM

Yeah I just created this thread to kind of document the event for Ayu history.:laugh:thumbsup
The official Ayu statement is another post that came before this.
