Nice thread! Thank you :)

CeReSu 24th July 2017 04:48 PM

I watched the live and I'm sorry but NO.
Ayu what are you doing?
You're suffering and you continues to sing even when your voice is so tired that's so awful?
Please, take a break and take care.
Learn to sing with your condition, come back later.

Seriously I'm aware of all of this but it was awful to hear her shout.
Because of You was horrible, she was exhausted on NEVER NEVER and so on.
Ballads were ok, fortunately.
Aside from her vocals, the show was empty. Nothing new, always the same performances , same gestures, same songs. I was bored. There was nothing beautiful or amazing.
I think it was just "ok".
I'm so sad because once upon a time I loved Ayu's lives. And now... I'm just watching by curiosity and by habit.

Hope the next chapter will be better than that!

oaristos 24th July 2017 05:08 PM

Thank you for creating this thread!

Katsuyuki012 24th July 2017 05:33 PM

^^I thought Because of You sounded good tbh.
Also, WARNING had a new choreography, NEVER EVER and Because of You had new stuff here and there too.
My name's WOMEN had changes here and there and the second part of the bridge got changed. Ourselves was a new performances anyway. Appears was different arrangement-wise with the violin and they lifted her up.

Sure, this tour isn't full of brand new things but if you look closer there are changes and some new stuff. Of course that's not sooo much but still, it just annoys me "always the same performance" when yes, she still does a whip dance for my name's WOMEN or still has the *walk, look back* during BoY but there are changes. I am not denying that overall much is still the same but she keeps adding new stuff to the performances here and there so they're not completely the same.

I can already see the backlash coming, lol.

This. I'm glad I'm not the only one who thinks so. She's got so many jems, I hope one day she changes things up.

alanphun 24th July 2017 05:50 PM

Just realised Lico is missing, did I missed anything?

Katsuyuki012 24th July 2017 06:23 PM

^She left after I think AT16 because she didn't have enough stamina iirc.

Diego-kun 24th July 2017 08:50 PM

I've watched both ourselves and WARNING from the TV Live and I've decided I prefer not to see the rest. At least not until they release the edited version. Worst vocals ever imo, she is basically struggling to finish each song. It's really sad to see her like this when she used to have amazing live tours back in the day.

Party_King 24th July 2017 09:28 PM

^ for sure you missed the last CDL... >.<

Chibi-Chan 24th July 2017 09:29 PM

Those vocals are horrible. I don't ever wanna hear her say she's ruining her health "because of music". If she would care about music, she would care about delivering live vocals that are worth to pay for. It's her damn job. Not that she ever was a great vocalist with great technique or something, but she sounded fine at least.
This really makes your ears bleed and I don't know whom she's trying to fool besides herself with this "performing for the love of music". She's performig for herself and definetely not for anyone else.
If your not able to perform three days in a row without being hoars as fuck, simply don't do it. It's your job after all ffs.

Next_Level29 24th July 2017 09:38 PM

besides the ourselves performance straight from the beginning, i have to agree with what CeReSu wrote. It hurts to admit that, i love ayus live, but i gets reallly bored and really monotonous from what i can see. If she does not include her newer songs (with new performacnes) i donot wonder that her lives bores me.

Evan Odinson 24th July 2017 10:20 PM

So many negative comments, how sad for Ayu, though I kinda get how y'all feel, but vocally it was so much better than both past CDL, the setlist was nothing new, I get that some could get tired, but other people may enjoy it otherwise there would be no public at all, and most important imo, she was happy, she enjoyed being there, and I enjoyed watching her, I'm not saying that you guys have to like it, I myself hope big changes for 2nd chapter, but we should just support her and not being so negative, people say things like "she should take care of her health" and I agree but... if she didn't, and it's doing this long af tour, going to small venues where she never went before, I truly hope to be wrong, but perhaps her condition doesn't have a solution, perhaps she's trying to do what she loves to do as much as possible, if you knew you won't be abable to do something you love in a certain ammount of time, wouldn't you just throw everything away and do it till the very end as long as you can? well, that's just my opinion, I liked the show, nothing spectacular but it was good, really looking forward for 2nd chapter :)

Isicio 24th July 2017 10:47 PM

I'm totally agree with you. Go ayu! This year tour is a gift with the hall tour. I hope a lot people go to see her. I will love to see her but I can't, is my dream but someday. So I'm glad more people can got to the tour this years.

Andrenekoi 25th July 2017 02:20 AM

Her celebratory tours always have boring setlists, so, it was to expect...

ExodusUK 25th July 2017 02:29 AM

Couldn't make it past Ourselves, the vocals are so bad.

melissalove 25th July 2017 03:57 AM

My beef is with the setlist not the vocals. She's obviously off pitch because of deafness. What can she do :/ god help her.

truehappiness 25th July 2017 04:34 AM

Honestly, it's the same comments every time with live broadcasts even from years back. Most people seemed to enjoy her in the venues though which is where it's meant to be watched, so something is going on for there to be such a disconnect during these lives.

freedreamer 25th July 2017 06:18 AM

any idea if Chapter 3 will also be Hall Tours?

im planning to go during that period ><

~angel*ayumi~ 25th July 2017 08:19 AM

ourselves was rly bad, but the rest was ok. ballads are good as always.

You're totally right.

This was my first Ayumi concert ever, and vocals aside, it was an amazing experience. Her concerts are meant to be felt and heard together in the arena with that huge crowd, and I don't know if a live, or this one, could capture that accurately.

Not only that, but with as often as Ayu tours, I think a lot of fans in Japan(who lets be honest, that is the target audience of her concerts) really get used to the experience of going to her show every year and hearing the same songs. Perhaps if you only watch her through a screen, it gets dull, but once you experience it, it's totally different.

njanjayrp 25th July 2017 03:55 PM

I think these recordings are fine. This is the closest to what she actually sounds like live. Still stellar vocals! She did sound a bit better in Yoyogi.

Next_Level29 25th July 2017 08:45 PM

i do support her and her vocals doesnt bother me that much. im happy for her as well, im just a little bit disappointed that she celebrates her 20th aniversary with the exact same songs she sang the last couple of concerts. i hope it was really 'just the beginning' and the setlist will change during the next chapters

Actually, UNITE!, talkin' 2 myself, Beacuse of you, NEVER EVER, Viring Road, Walk and ourselves for instance haven't been performed during the arena tours in years (some never, actually). For those of us who haven't attended a CDL this was great. I will also never say no to WARNING and Mirrorcle World :D

hayasaki 26th July 2017 12:13 AM

Going there in person is definitely different and never a dull
moment. believe it or not, there are still japanese fans who are
first timers in attending her concerts even after years of fandom. ❤️

Andrenekoi 26th July 2017 04:01 AM

^That's nice! I noticed her performances are getting lots of japanese comments on youtube lately

Outback 26th July 2017 12:02 PM

I think her japanes fans like her older songs more than her current Music (with the exeption of a few new songs).

So they are happy if she performs always the older music.

^no, i do enjoy each and every new release. i think a one and made in japan are phenomenal albums

^ i really like a lot of her newer material too...
okay, LOVEagain, A ONE and M(A)DE IN JAPAN are somehow not really my cup of tea, but they have also songs which I listen a lot...
so I'm really happy that she keeps performing WARNING, You & Me and so on...

Everything is always going to sound better in the venue for various reasons, one being that it is quite "echoey", other is just general hype and excitement of actually being there, and another being that the loudness of the instruments can help to hide a lot of flaws.

TV broadcasts on the other hand get the raw unaltered sound board recordings directly from the mic and instruments; that imo is far more reliable of a measure of vocal quality than arena reports. Her voice doesn't just magically go to crap the second a camera starts rolling every single time.

But lets be real, her voice was rarely actually amazing even in her heyday (go back to any tv broadcast of the cdl) except for maybe between 03-06. She also used to make much better use of backing tracks; especially during tv lives in her younger days. Honestly, I think that's a route she should consider again. Namie uses it to great effect and it's much better than just resorting to straight up lip synching.

dreamalley 26th July 2017 11:37 PM

I just watched the live.

Man, those vocals were painful to hear. Not as bad as CDL but still pretty bad.

truehappiness 27th July 2017 02:53 AM

I'd like her to mix in a few more 'newer' songs though. Or if she does old ones, perform them differently.

Since the Album "Love again" there where only a few songs I really like. So i`m fine with the old songs. But she should mix her old songs a bit more. She really performs to often the same old songs.

This.:yes

Andrenekoi 27th July 2017 10:28 PM

So, I watched the whole thing...

I'm not very found of her anniversary tours and I'm also not very found of the CDLs, and this is an anniversary tour that feels like a giant CDL, so, other than the ourselves opening, meh. :P

The vocals aren't very good, but after the choreographed parts it's her usual bad. I also loved pretty much every new arrangment, as usual.

clover_bali 28th July 2017 04:53 AM

nothing special for this first chapter from her '20th anniversary'
'premium showcase feel the love 2014' better than '20th anniv'

i hope there will be 'something new' (new songs list, new concept, new costume) for second chapter and 'final chapter'

Ruan Borges 29th July 2017 07:19 PM

Her vocals were pretty fine in ourselves and WARNING (loved these two <3) but her voice gets tired from NEVER EVER on, like veeery tired.

My favorite performances were ourselves, WARNING, Virgin Road, talkin' 2 myself and Mirrorcle World (I'm always here for this song).

I love the first part of Voyage, when she is alone on the stage, but then the dancers come up and it's meh.

Overall I liked the concert, but it's not outstanding, just ok, hope it gets better in the next chapters.

Refix 30th July 2017 03:09 AM

Watched the digest and I must say... meh. Virgin Road totally failed.

attractive nausea 30th July 2017 10:57 AM

Were her vocals edited on that WOWOW broadcast? Cause i didn't watch the live broadcast from a week ago, but i just watched the digest posted above and i think her vocals are nowhere near horrible like everyone says, so am i having a ear problem or is the WOWOW broadcast edited? lol Like come on she sounds hella great during Who... for example.

That video digest does not have edited vocals, but I'm guessing the WOWOW broadcast will have.

Add A BALLADS 2 and we're good to go ;)

I really enjoyed ourselves, it was amazing! And her vocals were fine, I think. But WARNING actually made me cringe... :no
But I understand her situation, so not complaining really. When Ayu performs, you can see the love coming from her, that's why her voice hurts me so much... I wished she'd take care of herself but I can't possibly even imagine what she's going through right now... :(

Uknow! 30th July 2017 08:46 PM

This time I can't upload the concert because I won't have my PC until middle of august.

I have watched the show broadcast yesterday already by downloading from jpopsuki.
I realized that her vocal is tired and dry. She must have been tired then.

Any different from the 17/7 in term of the angle and vocal editing ?
Error while downloading from jpopsuki, hope someone will make it available in the forum...:luv2

It's just a little bit better. Listening by the speaker, her vocal is quite bad but by the headphones, it's just ok. There isn't the big difference or improvement.

Don't remember where, but I saw this info

~angel*ayumi~ 31st July 2017 07:39 PM

Yup they also marked goods that are only available during chapter one on official site, but I can΄t find it o.o (and forget to note it down ><)

Toniayu123 31st July 2017 07:58 PM

So glad to see something that's not pink lol would like they use those colors as the theme for new chapter

Deep snow 1st August 2017 04:51 PM

Good to hear that they edited the vocals for the broadcast because ourselves with edited vocals would sound fantastic, I'd imagine.

Andrenekoi 1st August 2017 05:44 PM

^I didn't hear much difference from the past broadcast

The whole thing on youtube, including encore

Even with editing, the show still sounds very rough. :(

pedronekoi 1st August 2017 07:29 PM

I'm watching the concert and finding its very fun! The setlist is nice all together and I don't even bother about the vocals anymore. <3 Her energy and joy are enough!

MeltingCORE 1st August 2017 10:11 PM

Not sure how I feel about this show... The vocals are a bit tough to swallow.

They took MIJ tour down too :<

Raiu-Ayu 4th August 2017 08:12 PM

I've just been watching some other concerts in small halls recently and I'm just hoping ayu has put some thought into the staging. She's pretty much had the same arena stage since 2005 (apart from the few circle stages). I hope she won't just go the TA Tour route with just a screen behind and open floor. Stages in small halls can still look great. Koda Kumi in particular has great hall stages.

Katsuyuki012 4th August 2017 08:16 PM

^she mostly changes the catwalk and well the main stage does change too but I get it, although e.g. PSC was very different.
I can imagine she'll just do a smaller version of the recent stage.

I just think she needs a new creative director for her concerts.

That's what i always feel. Only abit of "retouch" here and there but overall she's stucked in 2005 MY STORY Tour stage concept.

truehappiness 6th August 2017 05:39 AM

Well, "AT05" was the 'perfect' live to her, I think, so things were based on that after a certain point. I think that she's mostly done variations on that because it is what works. However, she also has been going to the same kinds of places for inspiration each year so that doesn't really help either.

freedreamer 6th August 2017 12:33 PM

Is part 3 gonna be all HALL TOURS? Any predicted idea?

Party_King 6th August 2017 10:25 PM

AT'09 had also a very different stage btw :D

ExodusUK 7th August 2017 04:40 AM

I really liked the years (is just the two years she's done it?) where she's had a stage that reaches all across the venue. CDL 2007 - 2008 and 2008 - 2009?

TBH after following Ayu for nearly 13 years now, much of her concerts post AT05 have become a blur especially in recent years what with CDL becoming a teaser for the upcoming year's forthcoming AT.

Katsuyuki012 7th August 2017 01:08 PM

^I think CDL 09-10 had that too but not sure!

pedronekoi 7th August 2017 01:35 PM

I really like the direction she took with Countdown Live 2010–2011. That rounded center stage was really nice! also Cirque de Minuit was amazing production-wise! With lots of new acts. Ayu have her ups and downs, it's normal, but I don't think she's stucked doing the same things over and over. She surelly does new stuff for the tour but she have to keep doing the classic acts that everyone will enjoy. At this point it would be utopic to expect she will do a whole concert from scratch without recycling one thing or another...

Especially considering that she has some serious health issues

Hmmm, this might be an unpopular opinion, but I really feel cheated at times with the CDL. It feels like paying to purches a trailer for a movie. :shakehead

attractive nausea 7th August 2017 09:17 PM

^ Not really an unpopular opinion, everyone feels the same lol

Andrenekoi 7th August 2017 10:16 PM

Most of her public won't see the CDLs considering she isn't selling DVDs and the CDL have very limited dates. In the end of the day, her concerts are planned out to be watched live and to absolute most people watching it live, the performances from the CDL reused in the tour will be new performances.

Oh, okay, good to know :roflmao

I remember when the CDL was more for Ayu-fans and the tour would have mostly singles and popular hits and be more of a "show". I keep hoping a CDL would be the one where she'd sing songs like SAKURA, Shape of love, criminal etc. All I can is hope for another TA Limited Live Tour where she might do that.

I need the AT2017 ourselves on a CD, I mean it! So brilliant!

She has barely started her tour and I'm already thinking how's her tour schedule next year when I'm thinking of going again I hope for something in mid/late april!

voltron 9th August 2017 09:40 PM

^ I just keep wondering if she's going to have something specifically for the 20th anniversary, or just make chapter 3 that celebration. I don't want to miss out on an actual 20th anniversary tour if she has one, but I'm definitely not able to go to both.

is it too late to join TeamAyu as an internationl member because I really want to go for the final leg of JTB tour

SKYia 11th August 2017 02:12 PM

^ so is it sure third part will be TA? because I'm not in TA and probably will be in Japan in that time and hoped to get ticket, as always, through resellers, but if it's TA then I won't be able to go :((((

haha dont get me wrong. Im not saying that it is exclusive but I was thinking that it will be easier to get tix via TA. And i think better seats are reserved for TA members but im not entirely sure about this

EDIT: ok I just signed up as a TeamAyu member...omg after so long of being a fan
do they offer TeamAyu members a special portal to ballot for tickets?
