Well recording means they're pretty far in the process already! Lyrics and instrumentals being done already (of course there can still be changes but you know).

My feelings have not really changed, I still want something like Secret or Guilty. FLOWER became the star of Made In Japan and I think it would be wise if Ayu elaborated on that sound for the next album.

I think it'd be really cool if she released an album that's' 90s influenced, but influenced by non-TK stuff. IE two of us, love destiny, PS II, trust etc.
Vocally singing in a lower range with a mellowed sound would be interesting to me if fleshed out into a full album. RnB ~inspired~ with hints of pop and rock. Unpopular opinion I'm sure. With Utada's popularity at the time, I feel she stayed away from this genre. I don't want dance music, and I'm tired of rock. Something "mature" would be a really nice change for me. I'm sure I'll like anything she gives us, but this would be my ideal I guess haha. |
I want a different direction from her past ones and to be surprised. She was delivering some pretty interesting stuff this decade until the Maro scandal.

Honestly if she don’t get rid of her older producers aka Yuta Nakano, Tetsuya Yukimi etc... I don’t expect anything stellar... they are good for giving the Ayu style but that’s it. I would kill for something ethereal with a fusion of electronic music blended with true instruments.
I don’t know why this album took so long but I hope it’s because she wanted new inspiration ... I don’t hold my expectation to high. |

It's funny how we all have different tastes. I think that Ayu didn't make a good rock song in years. And rock is boring as hell, but I usually make an exception for Ayu. |

I would really love an album with folk/traditional inspired sound like theme of a-nation, Will, Love Song, Flower in combination with something ethereal/experimental like Dolls, BRILLANTE. She always has these songs scattered through her albums but never in one place.

If “We are the Queen” & “Words” made it to the upcoming album, and if the length of the new album going to be 10 again and presumable first track is interlude, so she only need to record another 7 or 8 songs... 🤔

I don't think she'll include these two songs in the new album as regular tracks, maybe just as bonus tracks. First of all, We are the Queens is almost 2 years old and also it seemed to be created precisely for Clash of Queens, so it's not just an usual track. As for Words, it's more like a gift song than anything else. Winter Diary wasn't included either on M(A)DE IN JAPAN. I may be wrong though.

Winter Diary was on her classical album. That's why it wasn't included in MIJ. The video was on MIJ's DVD though since A7 didn't have it.

The sound of the album is just a curious idea to wonder about for me. I am more concerned with the overall experience we get such as PVs and album art or physical singles. I'll be disappointed if it's like Made In Japan. Reused photos that don't connect to the cover art, only 2 PVs that were pretty low quality (in my opinion anyway) and, just a feeling of poor execution. Most of this avex is responsible for not Ayu, but that gives me less hope.:laugh

But M and You & Me fitted the albums concepts and themes, and also were successful singles. Winter Diary is most likely her worst received single ever :B |
I love We are the QUEENS so I wouldn't be bothered if it's included on the new album. Also I thank Ayumi for including Many Classic Moments on MADE IN JAPAN because the mastering of this track on the globe tribute album was truly awful.

I found to song very genuine, and lyrically more beautiful than anything on MIJ. We are the Queens however was fun... years ago. I hope she doesn't include that one. She never performed it either iirc, so think we are good... But I am afraid there may be spies on this forum so be careful for what you wish for! |
I would prefer that she keeps theses two songs for a future compilation but not for her new album I’m pretty sure if they were included it would kill the cohesiveness (in term of sound) a little like pray and hello new me on Colours ...

Judging just from the twitter teaser pic and the caption, I'd guess the album is gonna be all new tracks only, cause she said something about putting out her thoughts "after two years" (and not "have been doing this piece for over two years", but who knows~) On another topic, I hope there is a tribute album later this year to celebrate her 20th~ |

I personally hope that WORDS gets included, since it was a super-limited song that could only be officially obtained by people who attended the concerts... Even Tell All was more available to the general public haha I don't mind whether We are the queens gets included or not.
