^ I just saw the TA post and I thought I read it wrong!! Congratulation Ayu!! How? When? Hasn't she been on tour for almost 2 years straight? Everyone has always speculated about her getting some plastic surgery every time she makes a public appearance but a pregnancy goes totally unnoticed??? So many questions lol, but this is amazing news!!

So here again some infos from Ayu's TA post and the Japanese media.
It's a boy, apparently born about a month before the CDL, so November last year.
Father is a regular person and no marriage is planned.
Ayu calls him an angel, but does admit there are days when it's hard for her to find the right balance.

I'm shocked as well, but with a petite woman like her it is possible the pregnancy wasn't that visible, especially if she knew how to dress.

There are lots of photos of her in baggy looks this year, so looking over Instagram it's more believable after the initial shock. She would have been showing more in the break from the tour too.

i went through her ig-pics from this fall and it makes sence now for me - huuuuge boobs and saggy clothes right after TROUBLE TOUR went to a break.. i sent her last TROUBLE TOUR pic to my friends who knows like everything about pregnancy and she said it really can be real that she may not have any babybelly at the time:yes

Looking through Instagram, she's often been wearing hoodie and other loose clothing, and in the images where she is wearing something tight, her breasts are big and she seems to have just a little more around the waist than usual.

She's very physically fit, which generally helps prevent complications, and some women just don't grow much. So it does make sense to me.

I'm still in shock, though! I really hope she's happy and will be able to balance it, without bringing herself down! I wonder what it will mean for her future tours and music.

She's a petite woman, too (about 154 cm, 40-45 kg when she was younger, pretty much like Ayu).
From all the photos I've seen her pregnancies weren't that visible as well - except that her breasts got huge! :laugh

Those were my first thoughts too... Kinda like the Lucy Liu and her out of hte blue announcement. Although Ayu wrote she gave birth as opposed to simply stating she became a mother...

Yeah, she had a lot of pics with her hiding her body after the tour ended. I didn't give too much thought to it - just thought she wants to wear comfy clothes at home during her free time. Pregnancy possibility never crossed my mind when I saw these pictures. Damn, Ayu's a total master at hiding stuff. :D

LOL yeah now when i think about it, we hardly saw her in anything body hugging, or if she was wearing a tighter top, they'd cut it off at the shoulders, but like since she's constantly in stage outfits you'd think she just want a comfy ensemble at the rehearsals and stuff. I guess that's why none really thought anything of it. But man, that's some serious dedication to keep news like that out of public eye for 9 fucking months lol

Well you have to factor in that she had a boy and that typically pregnant women carry boys lower whereas girls are much higher. So it would make for her to go a little more unnoticed since he would be hanging lower and possibly easier to disguise. I’m in utter shock though. Not only with her constant touring but slim figure...especially with a lot of her tour costumes were very form fitting. I guess some women in some cases don’t show until the end of the pregnancy which could be her case. Hmmm, it does make sense that she keeps wearing the black strapless sequin dress that flares from under the bust line :think

Talk about a surprise! I thought it was a joke post until the Japanese media jumped on the story.

Going by timeline, she became pregnant in February, and still worked quite far into her pregnancy.

I never would have guessed she was even pregnant after the final tour dates. She didn't gain weight in her face, and her body didn't give off any signs.

I'm happy for her, and I'm happy the baby was born with no complications.

^if you're talking about the clothing. Her stage outfits are usually very form fitting, unless it's from some other concert because i'm sure she did one of the live shows for TV in the same thing, and had a black corset under the tee.

In some ways the book and the timing makes so much sense...it was the perfect distraction for Ayu to finish her pregnancy under the radar while the press were fixated on the Max relationship from 20 years ago.

Ok I am somewhat recovered after the initial shock and all I have to say is that it is absolutely brilliant how she managed to keep this pregnancy/baby a secret!

Setting aside the age difference, how the public would react etc., I don't even know what would be better - if Pei is the father or not. Imagine Ayu being on tour, bringing her baby... And Pei being there all along, but having to hide that huge secret from the (probably very curious) public and media. I wonder whether the father (the father being Pei or not) wants something to do with the baby boy. And hope that he will get the chance.

I would believe that if Pei is the father, we're going to find out. If he is the father but doesn't want anything to do with the child, he would probably have left the crew. Unless he really has no feelings at all, lol. If he wants something to do with the child, we'll probably get to see that.

But that's just all speculations. I hope we'll get to see the baby!

And more importantly, I hope she's happy. She's over 40, she's been divorced twice, she doesn't want the father to be known, and has no plans for marriage (and maybe no plans of being in a relationship with the father) ... I really hope that SHE wanted this baby too. People are quick at congratulating women on their pregnancies, forgetting that they're actually not always wanted. And honestly - I hadn't imagined this career driven woman to become a mom, and at that age. She could be fearing for her career now.

It could've very much been an unexpected pregnancy, but she wasn't against the idea, so she rolled with it. You can be career driven and be a mom, there are plenty of examples (Amy Lee from Evanescence is still making music with the band after becoming a mom, and touring too!). She's independent, i'm not sure why she would need to be fearing for her career. She will just need to find the right balance, as hard as it might be. It's possible.

There's no way she would have this baby if she didn't want it. I haven't been back to Japan in five years, but when I lived there, abortions were very easy to get and a lot of women just quietly "took care" of the issue without ever making a stir. I've heard of women having personal problems terminating but there's no religious condemnation so it wouldn't be a moral issue either.

Or, if she DID decide she didn't want to abort, she could have quietly given it away. The only reason for Ayu to bring this baby to term and then announce it is that she wanted the baby.

I thought I didn’t want to get married or have kids when I was younger but boom I’ve been together with my husband for 9 years and I’m currently 7 months pregnant with my first child but of course not everyone changes their mind and that’s ok. If she didn’t want kids she could’ve just gotten her tubes tied or uterus removed, there’s also contraceptives; of course nothing is fool proof but is good to take precautions.

But Who cares who the father is and who cares if she doesn’t want to get married, she definitely doesn’t need the man to help her raise the child.
