amazing!

maxikot 20th August 2020 04:51 PM

Fantastic news!

truehappiness 20th August 2020 08:07 PM

Awesome to see her doing a live for it! Definitely unexpected.

chocopockymaster 20th August 2020 09:54 PM

WOOOOOOOOO!

Faiza 20th August 2020 10:33 PM

I wonder if it'll be the same routine ayu posted her dancers rehearsing for or if that's for a-nation. Excited!!

truehappiness 20th August 2020 11:13 PM

I could see them doing Dreamed a Dream at both events!

oaristos 21st August 2020 04:54 AM

I can't wait!

PLEASE BE A NEW ALBUM

AyuEros 21st August 2020 08:35 AM

Yesss!!! Finally!!!
Ayu performing a single on TV!! :luv2

If I'm not mistaken, the last performance of a current song was "Flower", in 2016 Music Station.

Chris85 21st August 2020 02:28 PM

I'm praying she ditches cutesy voice for this one.

ulfy01 21st August 2020 02:35 PM

Yes! Last year's was so nice. Can't imagine Dreamed a Dream won't be there.

truehappiness 21st August 2020 07:23 PM

They already announced it was gonna be Dreamed a Dream + You & Me at least! I like when we know ahead of time, lol.

Diego-kun 22nd August 2020 12:51 PM

Is the performance going to be live? Or just a pre-recorded footage? I like the Dreamed a Dream + You & Me combo but I miss a classic summer song like BLUE BIRD, glitter, INSPIRE or Greatful Days

ExodusUK 22nd August 2020 01:55 PM

Justice for fairyland.

There's always A-nation. Also You & Me can be considered summer classic already.

glitter aside, she actually sings those quite frequently...

I do miss glitter and fairyland though.

Good. I hope it means she was allowed to do several takes and the result will be pleasing.

She hasn't performed on TV in quiet a while and I think the last time she's sang something new was in 2016 (FLOWER@MSta), so it better be perfect!

She was on MUSIC FAIR a couple of years ago around when TROUBLE came out.

Indeed! She did aeternal. She was alright, but sounded husky.

truehappiness 24th August 2020 09:35 PM

She also did FNS alongside CDTV in 2018 I believe. Then in 2019 there was the single FNS performance but then she was also pregnant for most of 2019 so that is probably why she avoided lives as soon as she was done with the tour then with her first a-nation no-show.

I wonder why she hasn't really done MUSIC STATION recently though, she seemed to be on at least for the specials in 2016/2017.

Diego-kun 25th August 2020 12:30 AM

Her TV performances from 2018/2019 had pretty decent vocals, much better than Flower @MSte (which was horrible) and æternal @MF where she struggled a little.

IIRC, she was praised for last year's FNS Summer performance by netizens although haters said she was trying to copy Namie and Ariana Grande because of her looks.

Chris85 25th August 2020 11:49 AM

Do you think she will be able to sing the chorus in full without making a pause and letting the background vocals start some lines in Dreamed a Dream like she does in Last Angel?

Evolution7/4 25th August 2020 12:17 PM

Lol she def was giving Ariana in that performance but I don't think that was a bad thing! Ayu was feeling herself in that long pony!

maxikot 25th August 2020 03:17 PM

lol why did she say Dreamed A Dream as if she's the lady host from Music Station? We know she can speak English.

She's speaking to a Japanese audience and that pronunciation is more common (and sometimes more understandable) to their ears.

I know that because I'm brazilian and it's strange when we are watching a TV program and someone mention a show or a song with an English title with the original pronunciation, not "our" pronunciation for those words. Sometimes the "right" is not the "best".

I understand but I don't believe she's done it that way in the past..then again Dreamed A Dreamed is prob quite a wordy/awkward title. Ayu's song titles are usually less syllables.

If I remember right, during the promotion of Bold & Delicious, she pronounced the title as "Borudo endo derisshiasu" or something.

It's normal, just like she says Toraburu instead of Trouble.

Ayu will perform 10pm onward Japan Time

Ayu has always said stuff in the Japanese-ish way unless she was also talking to fluent speakers like say, Timmy.

Seems live. My adblock is successfully blocking those.
I'm waiting for ayu to perform and just checking the stream from time to time. Now they were announcing some group called "Shit Kingz" but in screen captions it was "S**t Kingz" :laugh The host lady did say it in full though haha.

No, JSB just performed live. It was written "live broadcast from special Odaiba stage" in Japanese plus "LIVE" in English during their performance. If there's no "LIVE" sign on screen - then it's pre-recorded, it didn't change from previous year(s). The hosts are also physically there in Odaiba right now.

She does best when it's pre-recorded.

YUKARI 26th August 2020 04:13 PM

unfortunately I'm not impressed by her performance :( her voice was shaky, her hairstyle was weird (she should have put more volume in her extensions). and I don't lilke her middle-aged dancers...

Katsuyuki012 26th August 2020 04:13 PM

What a day to be an Ayu fan! :heart

maxikot 26th August 2020 04:14 PM

How many times can ayu slay me in one day? Infinite! This is very much an ayu day ^^

Chris_Duvall 26th August 2020 04:14 PM

Evan Odinson 26th August 2020 04:15 PM

voltron 26th August 2020 04:16 PM

I love that the stage was so deep, so having all the dancers didn't feel quite so crowded as usual. It's really nice to see her on TV again.

njanjayrp 26th August 2020 04:17 PM

It's the best current Ayu can do. At least she wasn't pitchy and most screaming was in You & Me. Baby voice should be banned though. Imagine if it were live, it would be way worse.

I think it's a form of vocal control for herself. Her cords are damaged and she does her best.

I think she did fantastically and I'm still processing us getting this performance and the PV for Dreamed a Dream on the same day :tipsy

Deep snow 26th August 2020 04:24 PM

so pleased with the performance! her voice was stable as hell for her current state, in my opinion, and she seems to deliver the chorus very comfortably instead of shouting things! wow. a performance that I really like *and* a new PV that I also really like? what a wonderful evening for this ayu fan :luv2

Naaaah, she can do better! She wasn't really trying to control herself and that why she screamed here and there, she doesn't have to sing like that :D
On the other hand I am happy we've all come to terms with the way she sings xD

YUKARI 26th August 2020 04:25 PM

her voice sounds flat when she tries to make it cute T_T

well at least I'm glad to see her on TV! and it's really cool they put her between BTS and Arashi :)

She speaks that way too. Just saying. She's just trying to be cute and sound young/closer to her former voice IMO and it became a habit.

She's always spoken like that, but incorporating it into her singing is usually during moments of strain. :) Unless she says herself that she does it only to be cute and to sound younger, I'm going to assume she slips into it when trying to control her voice as well. It's no coincidence this vocal habit began being used more as her ears got worse.

Or when you speak like that all the time you eventually start singing like that too, like a bad influence.

There's honestly no evidence for that claim. I'll agree to disagree, my opinion is mostly based on all the health-related statements she's made over the years and how common it is for singers to get serious vocal strain and damage. I think it's amazing that she is still singing despite the barriers she's transparently talked about.

Did Ayu sing in the final song for FNS? I don't think so, but I didn't watch until the end :tipsy

pommy48 26th August 2020 04:42 PM

I remember she stopped doing the cutesy voice for interviews a few years ago. I haven't been following her speaking that much, so now I'm confused when she started doing it again

polka-dot-jewel 26th August 2020 04:45 PM

Her extensions definitely weren't blended well, the way her natural hair sat far from the extensions were distracting.

She sounded really good during Dreamed a Dream! She sounded okay during You & Me; I'd expect vocals like that with a performance that was more active, but she didn't move around as much. Not sure if a joint was acting up or if it was intentional.

Katsuyuki012 26th August 2020 04:49 PM

se7entheaven 26th August 2020 05:19 PM

I'm getting bored of her same costume for the past....2-3 years? she has been wearing this combo and style in different colours and materials like as if she's part of the dancers. With her glam team and all the expensive fashion brands she wear off stage you think she can at least give us variety. I don't wanna compare but even Jolin, Blackpink, or any Taiwanese/Korean Singer nowadays are wearing relatable fashion on stage. At ayu's level I don't think it's hard for her to get sponsorship/loan.

furthermore, does anybody notice she lacks that "passion" now when performing? Like she just stand there looking like she's memorising her lyrics? It doesn't help that her botox makes her look like Park Bom from 2ne1.

I just sometimes feel sad for her.

Katsuyuki012 26th August 2020 05:20 PM

No need to feel sad for her :heart

summerain 26th August 2020 05:26 PM

It's a standard summer performance on TV. It's OK, but it lacks energy. Her vocals were fine, they were pretty stable, considering all the things.

She did use her Balenciaga costume from TROUBLE Tour at one live show (I guess it was on Movin' on without you).

Nowadays, I feel the same during her lives at TV. Maybe she's focusing on singing and do the right thing because she received a lot of backlash about it and about her appearance (huh). Just look at the Natsu no TROUBLE, aired last month, she's relaxed there.

koumori 26th August 2020 05:34 PM

Park Bom literally suffers from chronic lymphadenitis, according to the artist herself... which yes, causes face swelling... so let's not. Removing off-topic posts.

Linza-mo 26th August 2020 06:12 PM

Nice performance but yeah not a great energy here!

Well done Anyway, but can't wait for a "real" concert performance of Dreamed a Dream !

Chibi-Chan 26th August 2020 06:28 PM

Did not like it. Vocals were bad. She was either using her horrible cutesy voice or screaming and there was no passion at all. Seemed as if she was just performing because it's her job.

chocopockymaster 26th August 2020 06:34 PM

The end of You and Me sounded really nice. She sounds great when not overwhelmed with loud instrumentals or backing tracks and I wish she would embrace this a bit more and lean into more acoustic-type performances.

Cahz- 26th August 2020 06:36 PM

Loved it, definitely was not expecting that cutesy voice at the start but it somehow works. You & Me was good too, although yes, I got distracted by the hair at some points.

Andrenekoi 26th August 2020 06:44 PM

It was a good TV performance. I'm not very into her TV performances because she always lacked passion and energy on those through her whole career IMO... And the frequent backlash she received in the past years probably made she be more self concious about her singing aswell.

@se7entheaven obviously has not been watching her concerts.

Finally Japan start to follow Korea, not too strict about the live tv show. So the show can be more international. Even though the quality is so low

I think her vocal is great here.

Surreal17 26th August 2020 06:51 PM

I also did not liked it. For such a good track like Dreamed a dream, I just did not felt any kind of excitement. The cutesy voice also bothered me, especially since it was even more visible than usual. Maybe she's tired , who knows. Hopefully, a-nation will be better.

chocopockymaster 26th August 2020 07:05 PM

In her defense she clearly feeds off a live audience a lot; her engagement levels are really high when she’s performing for people. I can imagine it’s weird AF to do this in a studio environment in a camera, and her energy levels here didn’t feel too dissimilar to Natsu no TROUBLE so I’m not particularly surprised.
