Ayu has been confirmed to be one of the artists appearing on the NTV Music Awards this year! The song she is performing hasn't yet been announced, although the concept for this year's show seems to be what was popular on Apple Music. The show itself will be airing December 28, 19:00 until 23:30 (JST).

UPDATE 29.12.22: Ayu performed BLUE BIRD (her most streamed song for Apple Music Japan), and Nonfiction.

The last time Ayu performed on an NTV show was NTV Best Artist in December 2010, performing Love song.

Looking at her Apple Music ranking, M is #1 and #7 (A Best and A Complete) so I suppose there’s a high possibility for M?

I think this is her first non-Fuji TV performance in many years. I think her last performance on NTV was 2010??

Yes! I guess her last non-Fuji TV performance was FLOWER at Music Station, in 2016. During 2018, she did MUSIC FAIR, but it was another Fuji TV program lol

i’m hoping she performs something from the album. i know that nostalgia works and performing an old song would be the best way to get people’s attention, but she also needs to remind the public she has an album coming out!

EDIT 2: the show is focusing on nostalgia and big hits of the past decades, so I guess Ayu will sing an old song only. Maybe M or appears again. Maybe SEASONS.

NONFICTION !!! Yes it was good !!

She sang BLUE BIRD (the most played song of her on Apple Music) and Nonfiction!

she was STUNNING i'm almost in tears here :cry she was like fabulous Queen of JPOP. her voice was so good even tho she was balancing on singing and baby voice sometimes but she did great! I think it was live? at least she was in front of audince and i think she started one part of Nonfiction 0,5 second too early after her laughing part :D

i think she almost started to laugh while singing when she was going from the center to left part of the stage from our point of view. she was facing some girl dancer and i think her voice went as she was holding her laugh

She did really well! Definitely live (I think). Her vocal is so good. I think she train her vocal again, she posted her vocal coach on her status a few days ago.

The yellow 生放送 (live) in the right hand corner disappeared then reappeared after her performance, so I’m pretty sure it was prerecorded.

Still, she did very well!

She wasn't live, they removed the 生放送 sign for her performance and didn't show the audience. So pre-recorded, probably some hours before.

Happy for her that she got so much time for her slot.
And she did look happy, vocals were ok.
Though I have to say, haven't seen a performance from her for a while, she looked very uncomfortable laughing here.

Considering it's her first ntv performance since 2010, she did well and yeah, must be very tired with all CDL rehearsal

Nonfiction performance was great but Blue Bird seemed a bit awkward. Her hairstyle and make up is very retro looking.

She seems very exhausted, a little nervous and uncomfortable during the first minutes. The BLUE BIRD Chorus was a little bit ‘’strange’’ with her current voice but Nonfiction was really good. Anyway she need to rest now.

I think I watched a different performance. For me, she wasn't comfortable and "present" like that on a TV performance in ages.

The performance was great – I liked the energy a lot & the vocals were solid (yes, they probably edited them a bit but whatever). The "catwalk" part during Nonfiction's first chorus felt like it was cut short a bit but other than that, everything was really good, imo.

Her styling was fantastic! It reminds me of this look, but more modern & mature.

Not a music person, but felt she can somehow sing high pitch again?
And she doesnt feel out of breath (have been feeling that for her recent live, guess it was due to her recovery from pregnancy?)

I agree with many comments above that her Nonfiction performance was really on point this time and very stable (BLUE BIRD not so much though, we've seen better days for this song...)
Guess her "current voice" fits her recent songs more than older ones ?

Amazing performance once again

Looks like she could not hear well at the beginning and kept adjusting. That made her uncomfortable, and then she fixed it. She preforms well.

I thought she did great in this performance! This wasn't pre-recorded either. Nice vocals and she was really focused and she looked fantastic. Definitely got Love Appears era vibes from the style.

I really enjoyed this. Actually looking forward to her new release.

Did she reveal the name. I'm curious.

BI thought, It sounds like she's working on her vocals with someone. I knew she could get her vocals back and she can go even further. It just she needs to stay on top of it, and work with someone who's really good. I don't doubt that Beyoncé is also still taking lessons now and then. It's like football players being guided by fitness and other trainers to do well. This is something even the most prestige voice professors are preaching on.

Finally had the time to watch this. Wow, she did really well! Her vocals were on point, and it's clear she's had some training. She looked amazing, happy and well. BLUE BIRD was good and Nonfiction is such a jam. :)

So I watched this and i loved the performances, but there was something weird going on on the higher notes, they had something odd about them. I loved it all though, she sounded very controlled and neat regardless. However, she always does pretty well on TV shows because most of the tracks are ballads and they are a lot less complicated to perform.
BTW, is none gonna mention that she had this early Ayu look going on with that suit and the hair? I just for some reason really loved that!

what a great live!! Blue Bird was a bit weird on the chorus parts, too high pitched and not very articulate, not the best version for sure but still very enjoyable.
I just love Nonfiction so much, and this live was so good!!

I feel she's really been great recently when it comes to controlling her voice, so I hope we are all wrong in interpreting her most recent Insta post and that we are in for a great era of her career!
