I still dont know how to feel about UNICORN... The way it's being released makes it feel like she needed to release an album so she just glued together some covers she had on her files with the singles already released and that's it :/ Wish she had kept the covers for a cover album which could be released on her 25th anniv (or even more avex-ish: she could release a Original Best + Covers Best in 2025 and put these new covers on it). |
I do know how you feel, but I am happy it's not another best album. Cause that's what I expected after the tour was announced.
True, all the new tie-in singles being on it kinda have that notion as well, but I certainly prefer this mixed album (and the Unicorn theme to illustrate it). |
The visual theme is what I like the most about this release, seems like it could lead to the most fun and entertaining visuals from the last... 10 years?
But that's also one of the reasons why the whole release is under-serving lol There's no song tied to the visuals or a music video that relates to it. I mean, it was a perfect opportunity to serve a Do Me More type of music video... I hope that at least it goes well with the tour. |
I can also imagine Kuu wants to release her 20th album for her 25th anniversary. :laugh
There's a special guest coming with her on the tour! She teased it at her staff Insta today. Wonder, who it might be (it's an artist/entertainer). |

^TBH, I'm thinking it'll be either her sister misono or AI. Honestly would love it if she was bringing someone new with a new song collaboration to introduce, but that's quite unlikely.
Just a fun theoretical question. If Kuu re-released ALL her albums on LP, which cover from which edition of each album would you prefer her to use? |

She also has MD, an illness affecting ears with hearing loss and ringing, right? Mr. Blistah is a good guess, I think, as he came back after a hiatus in 2022 and he has several songs with Kuu (including a single and he can take over the parts of other rappers live). Some of her Japanese fans suggested DJ Koo from TRF or some comedians (after the one she had in Universe Tour). It's certainly someone you can distinguish by voice as they muted the video as soon as you could hear it and called the voice a spoiler. We do not know if the person is there with her in presence or just for the interludes again as well, though she's still rehearsing rn and afaik interlude movies were done some time ago. |

I was at the Best Single Knight show in Fukuoka today, and it was so good! She absolutely SLAYED!!And the audience was so full of energy, and absolutely living!! It was probably the most fun I’ve had at one of her shows. I haven't listened to “Unicorn” yet, so I wasn’t too familiar with the new songs, but I loved the setlist! There were so many hits that I absolutely love :luv2

New album is useless, terrible. I cannot believe this is the same singer I used to stan to be honest, there is not one single song that got my attention from that album.

I'm so happy how this album turn out! I love this new era of ku! all the promotion! the visuals! Maybe the album is messy by having everything trown in one but like I said in another forum She blessed us with 20+ songs split into themed albums and fans didn't care enough this is the end result!! hahaha
Anyway I love the album I listen to the whole thing everytime! |
The setlist for the tour is really nice.
Love how she ends the main part with Vroom - always dig when she ends on a high note and I love the song! And she's performing Ai wo tomenaide! :tipsy As well as new live arrangements and Change my future! It does sound like a lot of fun. As for the album - my fave is her jazz rendition of UFO! A core sound for her. Vroom comes in 2nd. Also like We are FIGHTERS, but I usually like the songs done by TSK (OMG, IS THIS TRAP?, XXX e.g.). That break! :love Too bad she's not performing it at the tour. TOKIO and her solo version of Trust Last are fun as well, Silence is a nice little ballad (so soundtracky). Don't care for the rest, but I'm fine with about half of the album. :laugh Quote:

her english pronunciation in "Heaven's Kitchen" sound so good,
but the music arrangement for the whole song... just so dead. "TOKIO" actually is a nice choice for the album, coz the melody so famous in asia (thx to leslie), but again, the bgm just repeat and repeat, so dead. |

I guess, I don't really understand what you mean.
She talked about it in one of the many interviews she did though, recording it new. And maybe it also helps you understand the album better, going throug one of the interviews, Idk. But with tie-in songs it sometimes isn't easy to include them in own releases. No Kame Rider song was ever released outside of Kame Rider related releases. Kuu's is the first. Maybe because her husband wrote the song and they haven't given away all of the rights for it. |
^ Yeah it's probably a way around it that they found, probably something similar to when artists doesnt own the rights for a version/mixing of the song and they re-record it.
The more I listen to the album, the more I lean towards the covers. *IF* she was working on a new album cover album, a pity it wasn't concluded. If not, then I wish she had saved those for her 25th lol But then she said some time ago that she wanted to do lots of stuff this year so she could start her 25th with no need to do something. Nonetheless, she did amazing with these songs, cant wait to have the concert official video release or at least a TV digest. |
