Avril Lavigne popular in Japan?
 

Is it true that Avril is popular in Japan? That is what my Japanese sensei said. but most of us said she is not famous here in the US.
If she is popular is it possible this is where ayu getting the rockish songs.

Isn't she famous in the US? She's famous over here in Australia, and appears to be popular in Japan to from what I've heard.

Even Tomoko Kawase (A.K.A. tommy heavenly6) likes to imitate her. :P

Avril is HUGELY popular in the US. Her first album has gone platinum SEVERAL times and her second is following in its footsteps (do albums have feet? =>).

Yeah, Avril is SUPER famous in the US; and Ive heard she's pretty big in Japan too.

Avril's super popular in Canada too. She's everywhere.

Her new album sold about 400,000 + copies in Japan.
So yes, she's big everywhere :D

A lot of American singers/groups are popular in Japan (and in the rest of the world, for that matter) though; it's really not that big a deal.

She's damn hot in the Asian Region..... Japan, Thailand, Hong Kong, Taiwan, Malaysia, Singapore..... you name it.

I dont see any influence, but you never know. I dont really like Avril's style (her music's okay) so maybe I'm biased hehe :p

I'd rather listen to her stuff than a lot of other people's music that's popular in Japan =_= *is speaking of American music in Japan*

I don't really like Avril as an artist. but i must agree her songs are nice. i don't like her lives..prefer her cds..i don't like her style too. i must say her hair is kind of irritating to me. it's always going all over her face.. but it's difficult for an artist to be well liked very everyone, even Ayu.

i was watching tv the other day..they're saying avril is a "woman" now...wearing dress..posing for Maxim...being way to sexy these days.....

yeah.. saw her on maxim or which men's magazine can't remember. and i saw from one article that she said. if something's black, something i can't remember and Bondage, that's me... something like that.

i just saw Avril on I think it was FHM or Maxim. the cover made me look twice.

I like her even though she's the packaged type. It's good that she isn't the one-hit-wonder that some people thought she was.

She presented an award at the MMVAs, that's the last I saw of her... her manager died and so she was kind of laying low :( But her new album (which was origionally going to be released in November) is now dated for the beginning of 2005 :) I cant wait!

Her first album went 6x platinum, but her latest album has only gone platinum. Nothing to write home about, really.

Avrils first album was okay =\ cant go wrong with a team of writers and stuff. Image is everything anyway, and your allowed to do what you want so I cant comment on how she dresses. But I dont like her as a person, I've seen interviews with her and they werent very exciting--and she seemed kind of slow =x
