'Dolls' movie release in America

Takeshi Kitano's film Dolls will be released in the US on December 10. We all know that Ayumi is a good friend of Kitano (obviously) and if I'm not mistaken, the song Dolls is featured in the movie (?? Has anyone seen this movie?).

TeamAyu 11th November 2004 08:04 AM

Hmm I might even think about getting it... interesting! Btw where did you get the info?

Jennie Mae 11th November 2004 08:12 AM

Entertainment Weekly. :D

tetsuo69 11th November 2004 08:13 AM

thx alot btw :D

Echiko 11th November 2004 08:17 AM

sounds very interesting!! ^^ tanx!

Jennie Mae 11th November 2004 08:24 AM

Couldn't find anything on the Entertainment Weekly website, but here it is on IMDb: http://imdb.com/title/tt0330229/releaseinfo (scroll down to the last date)
It's limited release apparently, I figured, but hopefully that doesn't mean just NYC and LA, and hopefully will be a bit more widely released.

kournikova 11th November 2004 08:25 AM

wuT? gut news... :D

ohsixthirty 11th November 2004 08:29 AM

I thought that Ayumi drew inspiration for the song Dolls from the movie, not that the song was featured in it. Correct me if I am mistaken.

mimika 11th November 2004 08:43 AM

u r right touchedstar

ayu wrote dolls after watchin the movie 'cus she got inspired by it

the song itself therefore weren't featured in the movie

Absolutely right.

As for it being released, do you mean a theatrical release? I mean, it's been released on DVD in numerous countries (it's a 2002 movie, so), I wouldn't know about the US though.

~K+ 11th November 2004 09:26 AM

I don't know about her being friends with Kitano neither...because he said she looks like a doll...

Eigoob 11th November 2004 09:33 AM

I got the DVD a few years ago. Great movie!

Qt Mashi 11th November 2004 09:33 AM

oh dammit ayu's song dolls should be featured in the movie

I think that's dubious as well.

HikariDesu 11th November 2004 10:00 AM

The movie was released in Spain almost 2 years ago. I bought it, it is a very beautyful film. But, Ayu's Dolls isn't in the film.

right, only KIMI NO HITOMI NI KOISHITERU by Kyoko Fukada (Funny song! "Mamemimumemo, mamemimumemo..." :bshake)

CT_Cool 11th November 2004 05:20 PM

Ohhhh thanks for the infor. i never did really get the meaning of the film :think

^ "KIMI NO HITOMI NI KOISHITERU by Kyoko Fukada (Funny song! "Mamemimumemo, mamemimumemo..." )" indeed :yes

bulmasman 11th November 2004 05:49 PM

that Kyoko song RULED in the movie, she was really good in her part. Anyway, this movie is simply breathtaking if you ask me, though not suited to everyone's tastes. Just be prepared for minimal dialogue and a slow moving movie ^_^

Biscuit 11th November 2004 06:08 PM

*Confirmed!* I read it too! It should be a theatrical release. Gosh, I hope they don't chop it to pieces and give it a horrible dub. Pray for subtitles! And it has Kyoko Fukada? Cool...

gogirlanime 11th November 2004 06:10 PM

YAY!!! I've wanted to see this movie sooooo bad, but the original Japanese version is so expensive, now I can get it for cheaper, thanks a bunch for the info!

sxesven 11th November 2004 06:11 PM

A dub, now that would be horrific.

CyberSpaceQueen 11th November 2004 07:17 PM

thanks for the info

Jennie Mae 11th November 2004 07:58 PM

Here's the very small article in Entertainment Weekly (#792, by the way, the one with Natalie Portman and Julia Roberts on it):
Japanese master Takeshi Kitano departs from the usual violent yakuza fare for this lush collage of parallel love stories.

sakamoko 12th November 2004 12:07 AM

tragic love stories... :gun:ilukiss

Ayu-chan 12th November 2004 12:15 AM

thx a lot!! too bad that it won't be released in brazil..it's soooo sad...

bulmasman 12th November 2004 12:28 AM

i was gripped from beginning to end, i can't wait until i buy the dvd :D as for a dub, it would make me cry, honestly. Plus, there's so little dialogue, to dub would be a blatent insult

lolo66 12th November 2004 11:22 AM

if no song is in it, then.. it's not quuuuuuite related news.

Get the OS Ver.

Available in VCD and DVD, DVD has both Japanese and Cantonese dialogue, and English as well as traditional Chinese subs.

I just realised, OMG Miho Kanno's in it! Maybe I should go rent it, but I'm busy this weekend. =/

Rebirthia 12th November 2004 11:45 AM
