please god somebody say yes. sxsven? you maybe my only hope.

Ryu_1586 14th November 2004 04:41 AM

Like hardcore heavy metal music? Yes, I do. I love it. I listen to anyone from Hatebreed to Coal Chamber, to Slipknot, and beyond. Currently my fav. heavy metal band is Spineshank...or sometimes Seether.

MTRLevolution 14th November 2004 04:49 AM

i'm not a huge metal man really. hardcore is a tad different. hatebreed rocks my ass though, they're great.

I think he means Hardcore trance.

No, I'm not a fan of Hardcore. But I do like trance.

MTRLevolution 14th November 2004 05:20 AM

hardcore trance, no no no!! lol.

oh ok, anything hardcore isn't good in my opinion, it takes things too far.

sxesven 14th November 2004 11:25 AM

Yeah baby, yeah. I love hardcore. And a variety of bands, too. Among my favorites are Envy, Madball, Better Than A Thousand, This Day Forward, Run Devil Run, The Dillinger Escape Plan, Minor Threat, Within Blood, Malkovich, etcetera. Brilliant. Love it. And the 'sub'-genre called emo, too. Thursday, Thrice, Waking Kills The Dream, Embrace, Mohinder, Rival Schools, Albert React.

Word. What bands do you like?

/edit/

And how could I forget Snapcase? They were my first hardcore-love.

MTRLevolution 14th November 2004 04:21 PM

oh wow, thank you so much sven. i needed some new bands to listen to. my absolute fave is norma jean. but i love unearth, hopesfall (before they turned to crap), underoath, emery, from autumn to ashes, alexisonfire, arch enemy, and a couple you've listed too. as far as screamo goes, thursday is by far my favorite, but i also dig thrice, saosin is badass, dead poetic, things like that.

and hell yeah, snapcase was my first hardcore band too!!

edit: norma jean is from atlanta, ga, where i live, so that makes them really cool. what sucks is that their singer left after the release of only 1 album, and it's an incredible cd. it's called 'bless the martyr and kiss the child', i highly recommend it. the singer's new band, the chariot, releases a cd this tuesday, i must get it.

sxesven 14th November 2004 09:37 PM

I've heard Norma Jean and I must say, it's quite awesome. With the bands you've listed, be sure to try This Day Forward by the way. Really great band.

Saosin's awesome too, stumbled upon some MP3s of them some time ago, and I must say, it sound great, no doubt.

Have you heard Walls Of Jericho by the way? Brilliant band with, get this, a female lead vocalist. Not that you can hear it, she sounds as brutal as the next screamin' guy. On top of that, the music's just top-notch.

Mind, you may not like all those bands I've listed, depends on your taste, really. Do try Envy, they're screamo/hardcore/indie from Japan. Madball's New York hardcore, Better Than A Thousand oldschool straight edge, This Day Forward pretty much modern-day brutal emotional hardcore, Run Devil Run's krishnacore, The Dillinger Escape Plan's technical chaotic stuff, Minor Threat's 80s straight edge hardcore, Within Blood's Australian tough guy hardcore, Malkovich's pretty much indie-like up-tempo hardcore from Holland.

Some MP3s:

Walls Of Jericho - There's no I in **** - forking HARDcore
Envy - A cage it falls into - emoscreamoindiecore, forking brilliant
Albert React - Breathe - thursdaycore
Malkovich - 005 - Dutch indiehardcore
Mohinder - The static cult - stressemocore?
This Day Forward - Sunfalls and watershine - modern day hardcore
Waking Kills The Dream - A depth still deepens - kinda screamo
Yaphett Koto - First meetings agreement - yeah baby

Oh, and don't forget At The Drive-In, Poison The Well and Deadtofall. In any case, enjoy.

Taishaku 14th November 2004 10:11 PM

well, i'm not a big fan of hardcore, but lately thanks to my bf i've been listening to q.ueer punk bands like Fun People and Limp Wrist... :yes

(lol, the word "quee.r" was censored... so i had to pud that dot :P)

paper_doll 14th November 2004 10:47 PM

I love alexisonfire, they're amazingness.

MTRLevolution 15th November 2004 12:07 AM

thanks for the mp3s and the suggestions, sven. i'll be sure to check probably most of those out. at the drive-in is damn fine. you gotta check out the chariot's new cd when it comes out, norma jean's vocalist is awesome in his new band. and saosin's singer quit a while back, which sucks because he is amazing, but the band has a new guy. haven't heard much of the new stuff, though.

paper_doll, if you like alexisonfire, i'm sure you'll dig a lot of the other stuff sven and i posted. do check out thursday.

edit: and sven, how much envy stuff do you have? i REALLY like the mp3 you posted.

MTRLevolution 15th November 2004 12:23 AM

holy crap, that guy from albert react sounds almost exactly like the dude from thursday. O.O

edit: WHERE DO I FIND ALL THIS STUFF!!!?? looks like i'll be spending a lot of money on cds here in a little bit. i'll never be able to find this stuff for download.

I'll be sure to check The Chariot out, sounds good so far! And Saosin's singer quit? That sucks, I loved that guy's voice. Curious about the new singer.

I knew you'd love Envy, they're forking brilliant! I've fell in love with them ever since I've heard them for the first time as well. Unbelievable; great melodies, great vocalist, and still just powerful, just brilliant. I have a crapload of MP3s by them, just counted them, 65. Not all of them are stylistically similar to this one, since they used to be an old-school hardcore band, but most of it is. I can upload them, or send them through MSN or something, just say so. Their CDs are great, I picked up their album 'All The Footprints You've Ever Left And The Fear Expecting Ahead' a few weeks ago (finally found it) and it's amazing. The track I posted is on it as well. I'm also gonna get 'A Dead Sinking Story' and the split-CD with This Machine Kills and Yaphett Koto, which are both brilliant. You might be able to find them, since they got distributed to the US by Dim Mak.

Yeah, that's a tough one. I got a bunch of MP3s, but sometimes it's just impossible to find anything. For instance, Albert React; I got these two MP3s by them which are awesome, and I got them off their site way back when. That's all I have ever been able to find. I've been trying to find their CD, but I haven't come across it yet. That said, here's the other MP3, Vanilla [deleted].

Indeed! Although I do think Geoff from Thursday sounds a tad better.

MTRLevolution 15th November 2004 03:27 PM

i found a ton of envy mp3s last nite on soulseek, so my envy mp3 count is at 44. i couldn't dl their split with yaphett koto and this machine kills, but i did get a dead sinking story, all the footprints you've ever left and the fear expecting ahead, breathing and dying in this place, from here to eternity, and their split 10" with Iscariote. great GREAT stuff.

can't find any albert react, this sucks. geoff does sound better though. thanks for the mp3s again!

NEVERwinter 15th November 2004 03:54 PM

actually.. i'm more a metalhead than a jpop fan. hehehe....
some of my favourites are: The Dillinger Escape Plan, Nine Inch Nails, KMFDM, Children of Bodom, Cradle of Filth, Rob Zombie, Fear Factory, and well.. many others

Nice one, I got those too. The song on the TMK/YK split is brilliant, it's called A Far Off-Reason. I uploaded it right here.

sxesven 15th November 2004 09:50 PM

Good to hear. This Machine Kills and Yaphett Koto are great bands, too!

Belinda 16th November 2004 01:20 AM

so its not hardcore EMO i thought it is, but i guess hardcore has its own catigory..i only know some of those bands because my cousin is a "hardcore" emogirl

ShAdOw X 16th November 2004 01:57 AM

When I read the topic I thought it was mainly about Hardcore Trance, which is not. But anything in hardcore isn't that good.

oh so this thread is not about happy hardcore....i was gonna say that i briefly listened to the dutch dance band party animals

MTRLevolution 17th November 2004 01:48 AM

haha, happy hardcore is funny. i don't see how anybody could dance to that stuff. it's SO fast. i have a couple of those cds.

MariachiGurl2005 17th November 2004 02:52 AM

I would like to listen to Hardcore, the only hardcore i've listened was "ramstein" <- i like that group :yes and i think i've listened to craddle of filth...
I want to know more artists though which one is better? what about ICP? (insane clown posse)

My friend listens to ICP all the time. If you like them (I never listened to any), try other groups under the Psychopathic label, like Cottonmouth Kings or Twisted. Sorry if I screwed up something. I don't know much about that stuff.

Rammstein's not hardcore, it's industrial. Cradle Of Filth's black metal. Check out the bands previously mentioned in this thread to find out what hardcore is.

ICP. Gangstarapcore or something?

Dear goodness.

MTRLevolution 17th November 2004 05:12 PM

thanks for that last reply sven, you kept me from answering all that stuff. you know your genres better than i do too. and cradle of filth kinda sucks. icp was funny for a little bit, but got old real fast. dear goodness, lol.

dude, the chariot cd ROCKS!! you gotta dl it. you know what sucks though? the damned thing's only 27 minutes long! wtf. but it's a good 27 minutes, not worth buying, but definitely dl it.

sxesven 17th November 2004 09:09 PM

Cradle Of Filth sucks dear holy sweet Satan's buttocks. Meaning I can't stand it, lol. I'm very fond of my CDs and NEVER do away with any, but I did sell the two Cradle Of Filth CDs I used to have, THAT bad. Really, the only two CDs of my current collection I ever sold.

I'll try and find that The Chariot CD, I'm really curious about it.

By the way, you know Deviate?

MTRLevolution 18th November 2004 02:35 AM

i do not know of deviate.

and yes, cradle of filth is TERRIBLE. glad we can agree on that.

hey i got the whole waking kills the dream cd! took a while to find it for dl, but i did! and i did a little research, two of the band members were in morning again, who are also awesome. my gf got me into them, she's new york hardcore herself, lol. almost have all of the albert react stuff too, i'll let you know when i have all of it. also, let me know if you want me to give you any of the stuff that i have too.

btw, have you heard of haste the day? i like 'em.

sxesven 18th November 2004 12:23 PM

Haven't heard Haste The Day, what're they like?

Deviate is a brilliant band from Belgium, I'll upload some stuff by them. Gotta hear them.

And yeah, I got that Waking Kills The Dream album too, it's pretty good! Morning Again, I've heard of them, not heard the music though.

As for Albert React, w00t, how many songs do you have now? I'd love to have 'em.

NEVERwinter 18th November 2004 05:55 PM

ha! so you can stand the chaotic bastard called The Dilinger Escape Plan, but you can't stand Cradle of Filth? that's pretty funny... :D

It's not about not being able to stand it, I can stand noise, grindcore, I just despise black metal.

MTRLevolution 19th November 2004 05:38 PM

a LOT of metal is terrible.

sven, i have the whole album! i'll upload it when i get the chance. haste the day is basically just screamo, but they're good!

Definitely. I used to like metal, but I totally lost any interest. It's not just the music I dislike, it's the whole metal-'lifestyle'. Depraved if you ask me. And hardcore has better singers. I love screaming. However, grunting and whatever metal singing doesn't do it for me. There's a bunch of metalbands I can appreciate (Dying Fetus, Cannibal Corpse, Iron Maiden, old Machine Head), but I don't ever really listen to them anymore.

Deviate - Empty world

Brilliant song.

Ryu_1586 20th November 2004 09:26 PM

Deviate is pretty good, I like that song. Thanks Sven.

*What would Seether or Spineshank or even Chevelle be considered? I always considered them Extreme Rock. They have that blend of screaming and mellowness. Thats the style that I like. I just dont know what to classify them as. I'm not one who knows a lot about genres. So yea.....*

*Also I didnt know Rammstein was considered Industrial.....I knew that the band Orgy was considered Industrial...but not Rammstein heh...learned something new*

sxesven 21st November 2004 09:56 AM

NP, glad to hear you like it.

I wouldn't know about Seether, but Spineshank is pretty much just modern metal with a touch of industrial. Chevelle is more emo. Or at least, I got recommended to listen to Chevelle since I liked Thursday, Thrice, etc. That'd make it emo, I guess.

As for Rammstein being industrial, yup, they really are, although they have expanded their horizons a tad. Still industrial though. And indeed, Orgy's industrial too. But I guess one would be amazed at what's considered industrial. It goes from Rammstein, Orgy, and Marilyn Manson, to Nine Inch Nails, Einstürzende Neubauten, and Pitchshifter.

Ryu_1586 22nd November 2004 05:15 PM

Thanks for the info Sven!

MTRLevolution 23rd November 2004 02:50 PM

hey sven, sorry it took so long, i suck. here's the entire albert react album i dled a while back, it's entitled 'confluence and scrapes':

breathe
vanilla
turn
the soundtrack to a nightmare
the same thing from different lips
july's memoir
on memory
even
if anything
confluence and scrapes

sxesven 23rd November 2004 03:00 PM

Hey, np! Thanks for the Albert React album, downloading it right now. Can't wait to hear it.

MTRLevolution 25th November 2004 07:52 PM

so i hadn't heard much of the dillinger escape plan lately, so i decided i'd refresh my memory and HOLY CRAP they rock. miss machine is a great album, and the vocalist has a buttload of talent. great stuff.

sxesven 25th November 2004 08:07 PM

Still have to hear Miss Machine. God, I should be ashamed, I'm a big fan of theirs (I love their old stuff, have all their records basically) but pretty much lost interest with the release of the Irony Is A Dead Scene EP. That thing just sucks naked buttocks. Of course, they have a new vocalist now (Mike Patton was just a guest vocalist of course), but I guess I miss Dimitri Minakakis to begin with. He had an awesome screaming voice, I loved it. Now, this new guy (Greg?) has a great voice too, but well, what I said, I lost my interest ánd then I saw the guys suddenly looked like a bunch of metal kids. I can't stand metal kids.

Give me back the Under The Running Board days. Please.

MTRLevolution 26th November 2004 03:43 PM

i dug miss machine, it's not bad. but parts do bug me, it's getting a little too sing-songy. good thing i have that albert react cd to listen to. damn, that's good.

Coelacanth 4th December 2004 01:57 AM

Anyone like Landser? They're like nazi-metal-ish-folkish music. I'm not a neo-nazi, don't ban me! Their music is really good though. Dunno if it would be considered hardcore though.

sxesven 4th December 2004 10:21 AM

Nazi-metal? That sounds wrong. Dead wrong.

Selekta 4th December 2004 12:44 PM

I like Hapy Hardcore, especially Scooter :D

*waits to get flamed*

sxesven 4th December 2004 12:45 PM

*flames*

MTRLevolution 4th December 2004 08:14 PM

lol. sven beat me to it.

sven, a little off subject, but what do you think of gwen stefani's new album?

sxesven 4th December 2004 11:43 PM

Indeed a tad off-topic, but to answer the question, I don't know. I have only heard 'What You Waiting For' so far. I'll refrain from listening to the rest of the album until I buy it. That said, I love 'What You Waiting For' and I expect the album to be quite decent.

Have you heard it yet?

DILLINGER ESCAPE PLAN=Best Band EVAR!

Anything that DEP does is gold..and Miss Machine raped me so hard I couldn't walk straight for a week. mmmm so good.

rainbowseason 5th December 2004 08:57 AM

i like jrock/visual kei lol
dat dosen't count does it?

MTRLevolution 5th December 2004 09:21 PM

nope, but it's ok. we love you anyways.

sven, it's great. i don't want to spoil anything for you, but let me say that i hope you love 80s pop.

sxesven 5th December 2004 09:29 PM

Weird thing: I always have pretty much damned the eighties for having bad music, but it's really the seventies that were awful. The eighties had the rise of hardcore, U2, The Jesus & Mary Chain, and infective pop music.

I like some retro-80s-pop music like recent Kylie, Tommy february6, and some real 80s stuff too, like Yellow Magic Orchestra. I guess I'll love it.

No. I know I will.

Even it's not anything like the bands I mentioned. Hell, it's Gwen Stefani forchristsake.

MTRLevolution 6th December 2004 05:39 AM

yes it is. mmm...

sxesven 6th December 2004 09:33 AM

Exactly.

Ourselves_Ayu 7th December 2004 04:08 AM

I love trance and techno, just stuff like that that can make me bounce in my chair and make me want to get up and dance. Take the Sensation 2004 Black Edition and White Edition CDs. Damn, those are awesome. Does anyone have any suggestions; I'm looking to buy some new music. :D

MTRLevolution 7th December 2004 04:57 AM

once again, for i think the third time in this thread, i'm not talking about trance/techno/metal. hardcore, people, hardcore.

sxesven 7th December 2004 10:29 AM

Indeed. We're talking about

HARDCORE

You dig?

savage 7th December 2004 01:32 PM

omg lol... i read hardcore.. first thing that came in mind was the gabber music hahaha

MTRLevolution 11th December 2004 07:19 AM

gabber music?

sxesven 11th December 2004 11:44 AM

Well, you know happy hardcore? Gabber was the more 'hardcore' version of it. Not happy, a tad faster and louder and everything. I used to like that stuff. Crap. Glad I grew out of it.

Gabber. *sigh* And there was terror. Now that was some hardcore stuff.

I'll be honest - I've never, ever heard anything by them. I've read about them a lot, but it's mostly what I read that has been keeping me from searching out some of their songs. I've read comparisons with a whole lot of bands I tremendously dislike, which basically scared me away. In any case, I've understood that their music's a mix of basically anything - including hardcore and industrial. Could you upload something?

By the way, what do you think of Texas Is The Reason?

MTRLevolution 13th December 2004 08:15 PM

i haven't heard anything from them, so i wouldn't know!

i'll upload some capsule markets stuff when i get the chance!

sxesven 13th December 2004 08:45 PM

I love them myself, Texas Is The Reason, I mean. I'm uploading three of their songs now as I'm writing this, you'll be able to find them here in a matter of minutes. A while back when I first heard them, the first thought to cross my mind was 'copycats!', since their music obviously seemed to show similarities with bands such as Sunny Day Real Estate (whom where around though at quite the same time - less emo-ish on the whole though), Coheed & Cambria, and even Thursday. It was only until I found out that their two releases dated from 1995 and 1996 - way before the emo-indie-rock as we know it actually came to be. Their music's quite okay - my personal favorite remains to be A Jack With One Eye, which I also uploaded. It's not really loud, but definitely some great music worth checking out. The singer can sound a bit whiney at times (something that's always said about emo - I always disagree though, except when it comes to Texas Is The Reason), but that's due to the nature of the guy's voice, I guess. They released both their debut single and album on Revelation Records, a legendary hardcore label as you may know - their catalogue reads as a history of hardcore, having released stuff by bands as Ignite, Right Brigade, Gorilla Biscuits, Bold, Quicksand, Chain Of Strength, Shelter, Judge, CIV, Youth Of Today, Better Than A Thousand, In My Eyes, Where Fear And Weapons Meet, Farside, Nerve Agents, Himsa, Dag Nasty, and of course Texas Is The Reason! Quite the impressive list! In any case, the songs are uploaded now - just finished. Enjoy (hopefully)!

MTRLevolution 15th December 2004 05:14 AM

here's a song from a mad capsule markets cd!
