 ちなみにワタクシ達にはお弁当が支給♪。。まずかったけど。。(^-^;

If one word from a view of certain people offends another individual, then perhaps I could argue the fact that 'kawaii' and 'ayu' offend me since her name is Ayumi or Hamasaki. Just the same was I find it offensive to call me by my real name vs LX.

Oh, how quickly things manage to turn into fights.

I can see it from everyone's view...I've called things "gay" or "retarded" before and gotten people on my case about it, but I understand what they mean. It needs a bit of lee-way from both sides. The offenders could try to replace it with "stupid" or whatever, and the offended could give people a break who are used to using a certain terminology for things and aren't intending on insulting anyone.

Whatever.

I think "humming 7/4" is a fine title if it's actually in 7/4 time. But knowing Ayu, if this is real, it could be anything.

bulmasman 28th November 2004 12:48 AM

let's face it, to use the term "gay" to describe something that's bad or so is just a figure of speech, not particularly intended to offend or anything, it's just a negative connotation picked up over the years. However, having said that, some people will find it offensive, so it is a 2 point argument. I've used the phrase myself, though not on the board, but i use it without thinking, which i think may be the case here, though i'm not certain 100%

Once again, I must say, we all thought CAROLS was a strange title too. And, oh look, it was real. Heh.

Even though this is OT in an in topic way...I remember when word of Utada's EXODUS tracklist first leaked, a lot of people thought the titles were total bull. I mean, "You Make Me Want To Be A Man"?

ure saying most this stuff is pretty gay how people have joygasms over stuff no one has heard about or can even prove its real and yes time tells and cures everything but its actually quite nice and cute when people show their excitment and that makes other people get excited too like me :P ...people who just stay calm all the time is actually well...quite boring i guess (im relli sorry if this offends anyone and i dont mean to argue with anyone)

all the ayu songs i've heard so far r either in 4/4 or 3/4, but never in 7/4 time
interesting~
anyway, this list looks much more reliable than the previous ones, at least this is from an official site...

Bishoujo Ayumi 28th November 2004 02:52 AM

I don't understand the "humming" part, but the 7/4 makes sense. Maybe it will be like a really super hyper song.

I think it would be cool if in the PV like someone said if people were singing in the background. There really isn't a PV I haven't liked, well...except Fly High...I didn't like her outfit.

Anyway, some of those song titles are very familiar. Winding road is the name of a BoA song, but I've heard from many that Avex recycles song names etc. Hell, I thought LOVE&HONESTY and Love & Honey sounded too much alike. *shrug*

I don't think this tracklist is legit, just for the fact that the CD is supposed to be 15 tracks and that's listed 17. But maybe it can change?

o_O

celebskin22 28th November 2004 03:14 AM

i dont care what this means! i already preordered the album...oooooohohohohohohoo!

_CREA_ 28th November 2004 03:16 AM

The 15 vs. 17 thing could be justified if it was 15 original songs plus 2 interludes. But I can't even really distinguish any openly interlude-ish songs from this list.

As for my analysis...

1.Catcher In The Light <--makes NO sense
2.About You <--here because it needs to be
3.GAME <--still wondering if this is only going to be on the single...
4.my name's WOMEN <--same thing as About You
5.WONDERLAND <--comes off as strange to me
6.Liar <--I would actually like to hear a song like this
7.HOPE or PAIN <--possible but unlikely IMO
8.HAPPY ENDING <--should have been the last track?
9.Moments <--only because of the single
10.walking proud <--same as About You & my name's WOMEN
11.CAROLS <--same as Moments
12.Kaleidoscope <--er...
13.INSPIRE <--same as Moments & CAROLS
14.HONEY <--...L'Arc~en~Ciel song?
15.Replace <--"Replace" what?
16.winding road <--makes me think about Fly high's lyrics...doesn't mean it seems likely to me, because it doesn't
17.humming 7/4 <--already overanalyzed within a few hours

Why use it as a negative connotation at all though? Especially since the word has nothing to do with negativity anyway?

It is very junior high school for anyone to be calling things "gay" nowadays.

A thought provoking one, it's poetic, not tbe taken literally. Languages are meant to be played with, just look at all the great literature classics from around the world and you will see plenty of good examples of world plays and meaning twisting here and there, not to mention new nouns and verbs are being invented.

Songs like all things will lost meanings and feel once translated, no matter how great that translation is. And you have to take the yrics in its writer's own context.

And I wonder if it wasn't a Japanese doing the word playing with song title will it bother people as much.

ImpactBreaker 28th November 2004 09:55 AM

Not to mention the fact when you interpret ayu's lyrics you can actually find a strong bind between the title of the song and the lyrics.

DarkAyumi 28th November 2004 10:21 AM

Yeah I agree with you, the title usually strongly relates to the point of the song. I mean, look at No Way to Say, Evolution, I Am, and songs like that. Some of the meanings for the titles require some thought, but I can usually tell why a given song is named what it is.
I actually think that Greatful Days is a good title for the song, it makes sense just by looking at the PV for it. I think My Name's Women is a pretty good title, and I can see some kind of meaning in it.

Let's just face it, a native English speaker would not have come up with alot of Ayu's Engrish titles, like, 'My name's WOMEN' or 'appears' or 'WE WISH'. They were obviously (poorly) translated straight from Japanese.
How do I know this? Well, in Japanese, like most Asian languages, in most cases there's no difference between singular and plural so you use the same word for both 'woman' and 'women'. My theory is that Ayu probably thought she wanted the title to represent all of women but that went in conflict with 'My' which should've been 'Our', for it to make sense.

11.CAROLS

It's very unlike to place 3 ballads in a row, especially for ayu. Cmon' this wolud be so boring, so i guess the tracklist is fake:P

I strongly sidagree! I am sure the title was meant to be "my name's WOMEN". It DOES make sense and, hello people, IT IS GRAMATICALLY correct!

If Uou would have a pet and name it "WOMEN" and the pet could talk, woouldn't it say: "my name's WOMEN"? So, GRAMATICALLY, it IS ok...

And the meaning of the title is a different story...

Moments is a little fast.
walking proud could surprise everyone and become a fast song.
CAROLS is a slow ballad...

I love CAROLS and Moments so it wouldn't bore me...

What's wrong with appears and WE WISH? The lyrics coincide with both titles, and it's not blatantly wrong. It's not like it's "apeers" and "WE WISHING".

As for my name's WOMEN, I've got to wait to see the lyrics before I start making any comments on the title. I still think it's still promising not to be completely randomly messed up English.

And at least it's just the titles we're dealing with. While Ayu's English is a bit "off" at times, to say the least, at least it isn't like BoA's English at times. English version of Every Heart = AH!

Yeah..maybe it could be something like she is trying to represent all women, or she's going to have lyrics similar to Real Me (Hopefully w/o Engrish) or at least the same idea.

Or she is personifying women, like saying my name is WOMEN and then she talks about herself, being WOMEN...I dunno, that'd make sense...

*can't wait until the CD is out so everyone will just shut up & quit arguing*

Was everyone this bad before RAINBOW and Memorial address were out? I guess not since Ayu has never made her fans wait 2 years for an original album...

I would love it if walking proud became a fast song! I like songs that fake you out like that. Like...SURREAL, kind of. It's slower at the beginning until it pops at the end. Utada's Kremlin Dusk also--ballad at the beginning and then it blares out rock at the end. That would be quite nice. :yes

BanFan 28th November 2004 04:16 PM

The intro track on aiko's newest album, Netsu, does that too, it's really cool when songs do that! :D

Free & Easy sort of does it too...:)

I don't think it is. I whipped out my conducting skills (yay for band in high school!) and conducted Surreal in 4/4 time throughout the ENTIRE song. The tempo didn't change either.
really? i thought surreal was a 5/4 song.

a) walking proud sounds like a decently fast song to me.
b) i think she's had 3 "slow" songs in a row on every album so far..even memorial address!

I have actually gotten used to the title "my name's WOMEN". After re-repeating it several times it actually makes some sense now and isn't as incorrect as I was shocked in the start. It actually is sounding sorta natural now, I don't feel the title is weird anymore.
As for "WE WISH" and "appears", wow those titles seem completely fine, I see no mistakes in them at all.
The only song I still think has a wrong title is "Greatful days", however I have to sorta agree that it sounds much cooler than if it were just "Great days", it seems to have much more emphasis. So in that part I would agree with lolo66, about an artist having the ability to play with words and create neologism. the lyterature is full of it :cool

I thinks it's 6/8 time...

Ayu's time signatures are constantly changing in her songs. "Surreal" is a perfect example.
The time signature doesn't change... in the middle of the song, it's a matter of different rhythms...

i dunno.... everything seems so FAKE to me! all...the tracklist, the song titles, well, ayu WOULDN'T put a song with another silly title right?

Odd, when I opened the song in Sound Forge, it changed from 3/4, to... um... 6/4 (I think), then back to 4/4. I counted the beats in those perameters, and it worked (though I can't remember if it was really 6/4), so yeah. Then again, Sound Forge isn't ment persay for pop MP3s, so yeah. You could very well be right, cause I'm cosntantly wrong.

Delirium-Zer0 29th November 2004 08:36 PM

SURREAL is definitely 4/4 the whole way through. SoundForge listens for accentuated beats but doesn't count to make sure it fits within the context of the whole song. Only a human can do that.

The only song where ayu actually changes TIME signature, as in the sheet music actually changes and the song doesn't just suddenly change mood (which can be done with arrangement only, not the time actually changing), is HANABI ~episode II~.

JimmyKoria 29th November 2004 08:59 PM

=x I love you all, but seriously? ..time signatures and beats, 4/4 =x enjoy the music and get out of your houses! Your going to end up going crazy and marring a blow up doll you named hamasaki =\ and you'll spend all day making/kniting it clothes, and feeding it, and bathing it, and walking through the park with it and going to the movies, and picnics...

=o sorry.

And yay for crazy titles!

hahaha.

I agree about the titles though, this tracklist is fun and semi-believable compared to the others floating around. I sort of hope this tracklist is real because I actually like most of the titles. And it will be great to have a 17-track album.

I actually love the title "my name's WOMEN".

I agree... I think it's sort of an "I'm every woman" deal (who sings that again?) Like, she's relating all women to herself... wow, that's REALLY hard to put into words. :P
