hitomi yaida love!!

alright, so i just downloaded hitomi yaida's album air/cook/sky. and i must say, it is an amazing album! she is a wonderful artist and i adore these songs. my favorite songs are kodoku na cowboy, chain and are you ready boy. anyway, just wanted to spread some love! hitomi yaida rocks and deserves some recognition! ^___^

are her other albums as good as this one?

[oh shoot! i'm such a dork! i posted this in the wrong forum. can someone move it please? thank you!!]

~K+ 16th December 2004 04:30 AM

Yep, YAIKO definately rocks. I haven't heard her albums other than Air/Cook/Sky though, I only have her Single Collection/YAIKO's selection. But she sure knows how to use her voice, and she's so energetic in lives, the one concert I've seen of hers is amazing, even though all she has is a plain stage, 2 sets of casual clothes, her guitar and her voice. She doesn't need any fancy costumes or flashy effects to get her audience's attention and participation.

Anyway, my favourites off A/C/S are 'are you ready boy?', 'CHAIN' and the last track, which I can never remember the romanisation for.

And did you know 'Air/Cook/Sky' is an anagram of 'YAIKO rocks'?

Anyway, she's got lots of other good songs too.
Check out
- My sweet darlin'
- ANDANTE
- Look back again
- Life's like a love song

Some of her PVs are pretty cool too.

luminaire 16th December 2004 04:37 AM

Kev, that'd be "kono koi wa mou shimatte shimaou". ^^;;

I liked her new single, "MONOCHROME LETTER". Nice ballad.

Her albums are good. I'd recommend "Candlize", it being the other Yaiko album I have. It's a little softer and less energetic than "daiya-monde", but it's solid. "i/flancy" is also good for "I can fly", which is literally a classic Yaiko song.

MTRLevolution 16th December 2004 05:38 AM

she is frickin' awesome. i've been into her stuff for a couple of years now, and air/cook/sky is a terrific album.

my fave songs are creamed potatoes, i like, and b'coz i love you.

go YaIKO!!!

BanFan 16th December 2004 06:17 AM

I'm getting AIR/COOK/SKY for Christmas (Already ordered) because I love CHAIN and the samples of Mama to Teddy Bear, Hitori Jenga & Kodoku Na cowboy.

When I go CD shopping Tuesday I'll be looking for daiya-monde, Candlize or any of the singles from those two albums. I like ANDANTE too...:)

The first song I heard by her was ANDANTE and I thought it was horrible, since I saw it with the PV, and I turned it off. When I was checking out j-fan.com samples I became interested in her because she was so much different from the usual Ayumi Pop stuff...

~K+ 16th December 2004 06:20 AM

I LOVE the ANDANTE PV, it's whack. And cool.

BanFan 16th December 2004 07:01 AM

I think it was her clothes that sort of turned me far away from that PV...o.o

luminaire 16th December 2004 07:07 AM

Which reminds me, I need more Yaiko PVs. And "i/flancy". Or maybe "Yaiko's selection".

BanFan 16th December 2004 07:15 AM

Does anyone have CHAIN's PV? Or does she have a clip collection with it?

kournikova 16th December 2004 08:46 AM

so long not hearing yaiko lovers here... i love chain n hitori jenga...
i dont have the pvs of chain.. but i have seen it on MTV... ^^

does anyone know any good fansites with pics??

MTRLevolution 17th December 2004 05:38 PM

that is neat, i didn't know that.

paper_doll 17th December 2004 10:38 PM

I like Yaiko. She's one of the better jpop artists, imo.
I love Hitori Jenga, that was a great single. ^^

BanFan 26th December 2004 02:00 AM

Wow! I finally got my first Yaiko CDs! I got Candlize and Air/Cook/Sky, and out of the 8 new Cds I got, Candlize would have to be my favorite. I love it! Go Yaiko! There isn't one track I don't like, and it's such an interesting album, with really different instruments.

My girlfriend and everyone in my family can't stand her and they call her "the Hyena" but I think she has a great voice, a little different, but still wonderful and fresh. Air/Cook/Sky is also good, but I haven't listened to the whole thing yet. Though I haven't listened to Chihiro Onitsuka's Ultimate Collection yet, this is the best album out of the other seven (eight including Oni's).

Anyone that hasn't heard Yaiko yet, buy this album, now!

Linzy 26th December 2004 08:21 PM

I love Yaiko so much. Candlize is definitely her best album, and her last single was amazing. Both MONOCHROME LETTER and uma to ninjin are awesome songs.

I went to one of her concerts in Japan last June and she is such a good performer. She didn't lost energy throughout the whole thing and jumped around the whole time, played guitar and harmonica and piano. She was so adorable.

BanFan 26th December 2004 11:28 PM

Any recommended concert dvds Linzy?

~K+ 27th December 2004 12:41 AM

I've only seen Music Pool 2002, which was pretty good. Not to mention it comes in a live CD/DVD package for a pretty good price.

I also saw her a few times in the summer vacation this year. 2 lives and a 'secret live' on her birthday. She was amazing live, never slowing down with a lot of energy.

The DVD of her latest Osaka/Tokyo Dome Tour is coming out in Feburary so I think that will definitly be worth getting.

I saw that at Kinokuniya and I didn't get it! ><

But I did get Candlize and I love that album. :D

*might get that for birthday or her newest live*

ImpactBreaker 27th December 2004 07:30 AM

I LOVE yaiko but I hate her engrish ahahha I'd rather not understand what she's singing at all. Her voice is unique. I'm not much into her full albums because unfortunately she does have some forgettble songs but her outstanding tracks are awesome. Mikansei no melody is her best song to date in my opinion. Because of that I got into Yaiko. I had the Candlize mp3s before but they didn't strike me that much. Listening to i-flancy was what made me get into her, not that i-flancy is better than Candlize (it has much more forgettable tracks) but it's just that the great songs are far superior than most of those in Candlize. I guess it's because songs like Over The Distance (yawn) bores me to death and it turned me completely off of the whole album. But it was not long before I realized some of my favorite tracks were also in Candlize, Buzzstyle, Life's like a love song and Look back again. I'm still a bigger fan of DAIYA MONDE though, now that album rocks my socks!

BanFan 27th December 2004 07:12 PM

After listening to Air/Cook/Sky and Candlize all the way through I loved them both even more. Most of the time I skip the slow tracks on Candlize and listen to 1-4, 6, 8 & 11 but all the slow tracks are good as well, really good. And Air/Cook/Sky has a lot of really upbeat tracks for about 90% of the album but it's also really good and I like the slower tracks as well, though Candlize stands out more because it has less Engrish and the instruments and intros for songs like Candle, Look Back Again, and Not Still Over are so different from the usual J-pop stuff.

So should I get daiya-monde and i/flancy? I was planning on getting daiya-monde but I didn't know if I should get i-flancy. J-fan gave Candlize an 8/10!! And I give it and Air/Cook/Sky a 10/10! J-fan gave i/flancy a 7/10 I think and I bet I would give it something like a 9/10 in comparison to their ratings. *checks out sample tracks for both albums*

BanFan 27th December 2004 09:41 PM

After listening to all the sample tracks, both albums don't seem very good. i/flancy doesn't sound like it has very memorable tracks, and daiya-monde sounds okay...

I'm thinking of maybe getting singles instead since both albums don't have OS versions. Does anyone have any recommended singles out off daiya-monde and off of i/flancy, besides Mikansei no melody because it's a $19 single...><

The only singles available on Yesasia from those two albums are Ring my bell and ANDANTE, so should I consider getting the single collection instead since the tracks are apparently remasted, or is Yaiko's Selection a better choice. Please keep in mind I already have Air/Cook/Sky and Candlize when recommending one of those compilation albums.

A sample memorable? That's still beyond my imagination. The album has full tracks with verses, chorus and bridges and not a "bad quality sample" featuring only the chorus. But yep, her full albums have some forgettable tracks like I had stated that's why I'm more into specific tracks of her discography.
You surely must love singles haahhaah (I do too :D). With 3 Yaiko OVERSEAS singles you can buy one Japanese album. If you checked her discography her singles usually have 2 and rarely 3 total tracks. If you want to spend money to get 6 songs instead of a full album is up to you. It's better to get the singles collection then....however only half the album would be worth it to you. I do think Yaiko has good taste over her songs though. She made a good selection for the Yaiko's selection....but then again you would get half of the album only....If you do think about getting one of these albums then I guess getting the singles wouldn't be a problem since with any of those you would just be getting 6-7 new songs.

BanFan 27th December 2004 11:16 PM

So are the tracks on the single collection remastered enough that a non music professional would hear? I think I'll get the single collection instead because I really want ANDANTE and Ring my bell, as well as the singles from daiya-monde, so I'll get that instead. I can get about $60 of stuff for my birthday but I just want enough for free shipping because my parents already got me really good stuff for Christmas. So I'll get the single collection and another single or maybe ELT's everlasting or Namie's Concentration 20...

luminaire 27th December 2004 11:50 PM

BanFan, there ARE OS versions of "daiya-monde" and "i/flancy". Just that YesAsia doesn't stock them.

The best tracks from "i/flancy" are "i can fly", the single tracks and perhaps "Creamed Potatoes". If you want, I can upload the albums for you. =)

BanFan 28th December 2004 04:55 PM

I think I'll just get everlasting and Concentration 20 and buy i/flancy and daiya-monde OS versions next time I'm in LA...

And no thanks luminaire, I'm Mr.NoDownloading from now on...:D

BanFan 29th December 2004 02:35 AM

I think I'll wait until Feburary and get DAI's new album with Ai's new single or ELT's new album and buy these two albums or the single collection after I get birthday money...

According to one review from Yesasia, regarding the Single Collection:

" All the tracks have been remastered and some songs benefit for it, notably "Look Back Again" and "Over The Distance." "

The new songs I'd be getting would be How, B 'coz I Love You, my sweet darlin', ANDANTE, Ring my bell, mikansei no MELODY, and isn't I'm Here saying nothing different in the single version than on Candlize? Or would I be better off just buying i/flancy or daiya-monde?

If this helps decide which one I should get, I prefer Candlize over Air/Cook/Sky though I really like both.

luminaire 29th December 2004 09:24 AM

Yeah, the single version of "I'm here saying nothing" is different from the version on "Candlize". "Over the Distance" is different as well, the single version does not feature strings.
Hmm... maybe you could get the "Single Collection" first and use that as a sampler to decide if you like the single songs on "i/flancy" and "daiya-monde" enough to buy the albums. Personally, though, I'd get "i/flancy" over "daiya-monde" because of more songs on it that I like, like "i can fly" and "niji no DRIVE". And it's a little more laid-back than "daiya-monde", at least in my opinion. Or you should get "Yaiko's selection", that one has a selection of album songs from the albums, including "i can fly". Quite a few songs there are from "Air/Cook/Sky" though, so do consider.

ImpactBreaker 29th December 2004 03:57 PM

LOL I actually thought the "remastered" versions of the single collection were actually the album tracks...that's the feeling I had when listening to Over The Distance and I'm here saying nothing.

BanFan 29th December 2004 04:58 PM

Never mind all that stuff I put. I'm going to get i/flancy and one other album, but not Concentration 20 or everlasting...

*looks for a good $17.99 album or a good single*

Edit:Finally! I decided on my two cds for my birthday! :D

-Yaida Hitomi's i/flancy (Japan Version) (Limited Edition)
-Aikawa Nanase's 7 SEVEN (Overseas Version) (CD+DVD)

A review said 7 SEVEN is more of Nanase's ballads and I love her ballads, and I've been putting off getting it for the longest time...

ImpactBreaker 29th December 2004 10:03 PM

Ah nice choicE! :thumbsup

luminaire 30th December 2004 02:50 AM

I agree with the limited edition, the live perf of "Life's like a love song" is so much better than the original. =)

BanFan 30th December 2004 07:30 AM

The limited edition is $1 more than the regular edition on Yesasia. :P

starr5245 31st December 2004 05:12 AM

whee..I love her songs, especially the one with My sweet darlin' .. really cool!

ImpactBreaker 31st December 2004 09:01 AM

MY sweet darlin' rocks just as most of the daiya monde songs...I know it's a very short album but it is complete.

yulen 31st December 2004 09:41 PM

wow all this chat about her other albums makes me really want to hear them!!

luminaire 3rd January 2005 02:20 PM

Yesyes, OS version of "Yaiko's selection" is released on 7th Jan '05. I'll probably grab that one and "Single Collection" later, now must save money for Chii-chan single box. =X

BanFan 9th January 2005 06:51 PM

I got i/flancy w/ Bonus Live CD yesterday and I actually like it. The lives on the bonus disc are really good and I listened to almost the whole album and I really like it. I still would like to get daiya-monde though to complete my Yaiko collection...

I also got Aikawa Nanase's 7 SEVEN CD+DVD OS (*hides from the scurry R-Shitei Short Film*) but the lyrics sheet was just like the Japan version paper and I thought that was really weird. This is a really good album as well, and the lyric book arts really cool, especially how she explains why each song has lyrics of a certain color. The picture for Blue Knife is the best! Go Nanase! :D

luminaire 10th January 2005 09:37 AM

I went down to HMV on Saturday, and they had the Japanese normal pressing of "i/flancy" for a mere $9.95. No, I am not kidding you at all. I would have loved to grab a copy then, but as it was I had spent all my money on buriguri. Too bad Yaiko. =P

But I'd prefer that the live version of "Life's like a love song" was included on the actual CD itself as a first press bonus track rather than on a 8cm disc. And yes, the live version of "Life's like a love song" is so much better than the original. It should have been made a piano ballad. =)

ImpactBreaker 13th August 2005 02:15 AM

Her newest album "Here today-gone tomorrow" didn't really impress me much....she seemed to put all the b-sides in the album this time, Chapter01 (single version) was much better than Chapter02 (album version) in my opinion, and the few new tracks aren't really that outstanding....I was expecting much more since I was really enjoying the singles. :no

AyuGAME 13th August 2005 02:51 AM

yaida rocks!!
i love andante and life like a love song, her best ballad so far

*BUMP*

Yaiko's track on the DEATH NOTE Tribute album is so good.
I think it's one of her best songs ever. Go listen, now! :yes

~K+ 24th June 2006 03:15 PM

I've been looking for that track off the Death Note Tribute album, like to give me a nudge in the right direction to find it?
