I'd help you out but it seems you're trying to get into english rock o.O *doesn't know much about english rock besides Linkin Park* XD

If you're into Jrock, well- there's a few other people in the forum besides myself who can help you out ^v^V

~ayu-cake~ 4th January 2005 10:07 PM

well, the list for jrock does go on and on, lol. ^ I love jrock though, good stuff

Errrm 'My Chemical Romance' are pretty good?I like them qite a bit, also 'Rammstein' are brilliant, but they sing in German.

hana_sanctuary 4th January 2005 10:13 PM

My Chemical Romance is ok.... I don't follow them that much so I can't really say MUCH on them- but the songs are ok, I think.

And Rammstein- I've heard the name pop up from time to time but I don't know their work n.n;;;

sxesven 4th January 2005 11:33 PM

Ah. I love making recommendations. Some good bands you already listed there. In any case, here we go. Ultra short descriptions, and, more important, MP3s, just listening is the best.

The Flaming Lips (USA)

Great band; experimental, psychedelic music. Astonishing melodies, brilliant musicians, flat-out brilliant band.

Explosions In The Sky (USA)

These guys hail from Texas. Astonishing. Wow. Their music makes me lose my breath. And I'm at loss of words, too. Just listen.

Death In Vegas (UK)

Holy bugger. The future of rock.

Envy (Japan)

Envy = incredible. I mean. One of the best bands ever to have roamed this earth, period.

Mono (Japan)

Ouch. So good, it hurts.

Alamo Race Track (Holland)

Amazing.

Thursday (USA)

Supersweet.

Low (USA)

Yes.

Film School (USA)

Yeah baby.

The Velvet Underground (USA)

Classic psychedelic.

Sorry for the short descriptions, but listening is, as I said, the best thing to do. Awesome stuff, all of it.

/edit/

MP3s deleted!

hana_sanctuary 5th January 2005 12:37 AM

OOOoooOOooo

*bookmarks thread so she can take the time to listen*

sxesven 5th January 2005 01:22 AM

There's some more I'd like to recommend and upload MP3s of (out of space now) - just say so when you downloaded these song, and I'll upload some new ones (My Bloody Valentine, Karate, Novastar, etc.).

boogieordie 5th January 2005 01:29 AM

More on the Indie Rock side, but definately The Killers. If you like ambient/sad/depressing type stuff, check out Interpol. I like their second album, "Antics".

For fun bouncy retro feel check out Franz Ferdinand (though some of their songs have that sad side to them) and The Hives.

I may upload some stuff later.

Thanks, sxesven! Oh, and listen to him, The Flaming Lips are great.

paper_doll 5th January 2005 03:16 AM

Thanks for all the mp3s!

Once more THANK YOU!

sxesven 5th January 2005 09:55 PM

No problemo. Already got all of them? If so, I got some more. :yes

so far i really like almost all of these songs, but i could listen to them only once or not at all cuz i have to study:(

I downloaded death in vegas whole and from what i heard it's goooooood:)

The only song wich i listened a couple of times is Lost Snow(its a kind of song that you can study to), and i just love it. So, if you got some free time, maybe you could upload some more mono's files(maybe the whole album if it isn't asking too much, cause i couldn't find it anywhere)

Once more: Thank You! really

sxesven 6th January 2005 12:11 AM

I uploaded Mono's 'Walking cloud and deep red sky, Flag fluttered and the sun shined' album here! Enjoy!

And indeed, Death In Vegas is brilliant!

-BOKU- 6th January 2005 01:30 AM

Thaaank You Sooooooo Much!!!!

This album is... I can't find the words to describe it! Guess it's true what's written on their site- "their music is like a soundtrack to the end of the world". I listened to it in a complete silence last night instead of studying and the effect was amazing:) But i couldn't handle any task on my test:P

SurrealDreams 6th January 2005 06:11 PM

About that "haiiro no hitomi" song, it's sung along with a guy called Kusano Masamune. I dunno anything else about him though.

If you like 'crazy', maybe you'll appreciate these 'cos they're fast heavy metal songs with good decent melodies. Sonata Arctica and Blind Guardian are two good bands I recommend for that type of music.

yulen 6th January 2005 06:39 PM

hmmm i know lots of english rock:

staind
a perfect circle
bush
collective soul
pearl jam
godsmack
green day
incubus
hoobastank
nickelback
nirvana
red hot chili peppers
saliva
seether
velvet revolver

...i love american/english rock!!!

Haha, too bad about the best, but other than that, I know exactly how you feel. A stunning album, best thing released in the whole of 2004. Brilliant!

based on your likes and dislikes, I can only recommend my absolute favorite band of all time, The Gathering. They aren't well known at all because they used to have a very dark metal sound, but evolved to become an incredible blend of dark pop and spacey rock. Their singer is a female, most AMAZING voice... their sound... I can't describe it, but on their two "non-metal" albums, their influences are things like Coldplay, Damien Rice, Radiohead etc. though they sound like none of them. I guess the sound is sort of just dark, but still very alive and warm. For albums, I recommend "How to Measure a Planet?" or "Souvenirs", the two non-metal albums, but for individual songs I recommend "Amity", "Broken Glass", "Even the Spirits are Afraid", "Rescue Me" (very Ayu-ish song in my opinion...), "My Electricity"... I could go on and on. But this should be enough to start. Amazon has album samples and such if you want to check that out. I'd link them here, but I'm on a friend's computer with a slow connection, so...
