What??? Most hated female singer in Japan???? :confused NO WAY! That doesn't sound quite right. Most people in Japan adore her! Can you please show us the link for where you saw this?

boogieordie 10th November 2002 04:08 AM

Here's my take..

I think appledaily is full of it.. and should be ashamed of themselves for making up news..

This is why none of us should even have to worry about this being true ^_^ - watch the video of people rushing to by her stuff, watch any of her concerts with thousands upon thousands of people there, look at the crowd for the stadium tour, look at how many copies H and voyage has sold, look how many copies all her other CDs have sold, she has her own TV show for cripe's sake.. so I don't believe a word of that

what's with the recent trend of Ayu bashing? It's really ticking me off, because most of the people bashing her probably haven't even listened to her. Not only that but Ayu's so wonderful in general and it just angers me.

Ashley

Biscuitgirl 10th November 2002 04:39 AM

Anyone who bashes Ayu is obviously just jealous of her and will have to answer to us!

i really dun like appledaily now..itz like i read bad news from them about ayu everyday which is strictly baised opinion!! if u go to today's entertainment section, they compare the cost of makin ayu's voyage sinking moon movie to other singers and say that since her cost is lower..she's cheap!!!!!

i suggest all ayu fans from all parts of the world please write to appledaily at webmaster@info.atnext.com and give them some pressure:mad :mad :mad

It angers me the same. I met a group of Ayu bashers last night, telling her to fall off a cliff and have her head chewed off and other obscene things. The girls were Dir en Grey anf Gackt fans who weren't really into J-Pop. When my friend told them about how I was an Ayumi Hamasaki fan, they immediately started bashing Ayu cruely. As you said, Ashley, chances are they've never even heard 1 song, nor heard about hot popular of an artist (and now actress) she is. Stupid, isn't it?

EdenZone 10th November 2002 10:28 AM

oh....that's very wrong of them

They probably know how popular she is and hate her just for that. She's so popular so she must be crap if she's mainstream. They probably think that popular artists in Japan are like popular artists in the US - in general, not much content. I'm sure not a single one has ever listened to and Jpop (as opposed to JRock). JPop and Ayu aren't like the junk that we tolerate in the US most of the time. They're not bubblegum pop idols. Jpop has content and isn't just cheesy pop, although that does exist in JPop of course, but Ayu isn't that way.

A lot of people also dislike her for popping out single after single. If they come out that fast they must suck right? She must be nothing more than a corporate slave right? Of course if they'd take the time to listen to some music of hers or read some lyrics, or even, god forbid, an interview with her, then they's know its not the case. Although, its really easy to just assume things and dislike something because of that, I'm guilty of that and I think a lot of people are.

Its one thing for people to have opinon, they can dislike Ayu all they want, if they don't listen to her and say that, it bugs me a little bit, but for them to sit there and talk about physical violence towards her KNOWING that you like her, that's complete BS.

Ashley

isaac hiew 10th November 2002 03:43 PM

erm ok, I'll translate this briefly.

1. The survey of "Your most unwanted female artist" was done by
"Female weekly", a Japanese magazine.

2. Much of the voters are females ranged from 20 to 40

3. Most of the female artists that were on the list were aged....

4. Ayumi's reason was the recent feud incident with the reporter in Beijing.

5. Maki Goto and Yumi Adachi was the "successor" of these celebrities.....

back note: As you can see..... they are just being jealous! I don't give it a thing about them, too.... let's just mind our business and get over with this.

hiro 10th November 2002 04:13 PM

simply BS! for a moment there i thought appledaily was a Japanese news source. ^_^

boogieordie 10th November 2002 05:04 PM

yeah me too hiro! that's why when i heard about it I was like "WHAT?!?!"

Chibi - I was thinking some more about those people, and I think that they also want to stay in their little rock group. They're too afraid to come out of it, or to admit to liking something else. You know what I mean?

I'm already used to this! Where I live, they sometimes make anime expos and try to show some of the japanese culture by showing PVs too....the problem is, the guys only want to show Gackt or any other Visual Rock bands PV and they just say JPOP sux....I think it's nonsense!! Although I like Jrock a bit, it's not right to divide the artists like they were rivals: JPOP vs JROCK, or something like that.....And Ayu should be respected by people who only like JRock anyway cause she sings rockish songs too! I think those people are just envy cause ayu is the best LOL:laugh

The only 2 girls I knew in the group was my friend Kristen and her friend Jenni. Kristen has borrowed my copy of the A BEST CD and of I am. . . and liked them, but she's still in her little J-rock bubble. I don't have a problem with that, yet when it comes down to bashing Ayu and myself just because of her popularity, that frustrates me. To make it easier upon myself I just left and ignored them while the bashing continued.

This morning I had another chat with a couple of the girls about the Ayu bashing and this is what they said:

Chibinina5: To the Ayumi bashers: Why do you hate her so much?
BabylonianHunter: Her voice ids Nasaly.
Look No Eyebrows: we dun hate her.
BabylonianHunter: Her lyrics focus on one topic.
Look No Eyebrows: we just dun enjoy her tyle of music -.-;; and sometimes get a bit carried away
BabylonianHunter: But that's just me.
Japanese Dolly: I don't wanna answer that for fear of being yelled at.
BabylonianHunter: She doesn'rt even write her own songs?
Chibinina5: That's a lie.
BabylonianHunter: *doesn't
love j rock: we just like a different kind of style of music
BabylonianHunter: (stupid fingers)
Chibinina5: She writes every lyric and has composed songs for her last album.
BabylonianHunter: Sporks.
Japanese Dolly: And how many albums has she had?
Look No Eyebrows: why dun you like Dir en Grey?
Look No Eyebrows: o.o;;
Look No Eyebrows: other than the scare factor
Chibinina5: There's a difference between an actual song wirh meaningful lyrics than hearing someone yell and scream incomprehendable words.

Umm well arent a lot of "good" Jpop singers have nasally voices as well. Shiina Ringo and KEIKO for example.

boogieordie 10th November 2002 06:09 PM

HAHAH.. she's written every lyric she's ever song, and wrote all the actual music for I am.. except for connected. They probably don't know that she's CREA.

At least one person was nice about it and just said it's not their type of music and they just got carried away..

AShley

xluvayux 10th November 2002 06:19 PM

hmmmmmmm...........hmmmmmmmmmm.........appledaily is probably getting poor reviews, so they decided to bash a bunch of artists for something that wasn't so good that has happened...you know? every artist doesnt have the perfect concert, etc...something always goes wrong...and maybe since appledaily isnt doin good, they decided to get peoples attentions by finding the negative parts of the artists...especially ayu .. which is just wrong!

Takke 10th November 2002 06:19 PM

ImpactBreaker 10th November 2002 07:18 PM

Hahahahah those kinds of news are a strategy to attract people! They know Ayu has a lot of fans so what would happen if those fans saw in the main page some bad news about Ayu? They would just rush to see what was it all about.....Cheap Magazines often do that to attract people to buy them.....a very cheap trick that works sometimes....the best thing to do is IGNORE!

bulmasman 10th November 2002 08:27 PM

Grrrrr, this is the kinda thing that really p****s me off. The people I go to school with are always being horribvle about her, without even lisetning to any songs, so I've kinda learned to ignore it, but doing it in a magazine is something different. Plus it's a complete lie anyway. But, I suppose, it's the same with most famous people, there's the fans, people who like the music, people who don't like the music and then the really pathetic people who think it's funny to insult the artists. Plus, saying Ayu doesn't write her own songs just made me laugh, there's no way that Ayu's songs would be so powerful if they were written by someone else, even if the lyrics were amazing, it loses out on truthfulness (is that a word) and emotion.

People are definately JEALOUS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

mimika 10th November 2002 08:30 PM

i go to school with other kids that gets their info from appledaily and started bashin her with it...i just can't stand it:mad plus they dun know as much 'bout ayu as i do...but keeps insisting that they're rite....and won't listen to me and keeps bashing ayu....

i really hate such ppl and media....i think they'll make ppl datz neutral and new that have never heard any ayu songs dislike her 2.....and i just can't stand that :mad :mad :mad :mad :mad :mad :mad :mad :mad :mad :mad :mad

knightcat 10th November 2002 11:20 PM

Ayurocks has already made most of the points I would want to make, but I agree that most people who are *really* into music associate pop music with crap (I am one of them), but Japan is different in that it has a lot of the pop artists are VERY talented, especially Ayu.

I am actually a fan of Gackt, and Dir en grey, and other j-rock bands such as Malice Mizer. But! I prefer Ayu to them all, and would happily say so to any J-rock fan.

Ultimately it is classic media tactics that should be expected:- Build an Artist up with loads of hype, then a few years later when they are at the top, but you are bored of them, knock them down, and rubbish them. The media always do it, and it just shows how fickle they are.....

mimika 10th November 2002 11:47 PM

yea it may be true...but it still makes me feel angry since i'm an ayu fan!!!!!!!!:mad :mad :mad :mad :mad :mad

flyonwall 11th November 2002 05:12 AM

as long as i know i like ayu then that's enough for me :)

this people dont even have the decency to think before opening their gaps....... :shutup :shutup :shutup :shutup
appledaily is just going for ratings as xluvayux said....
their "group" of voters could just be something concocted up by their "all to absorbed with getting sales" editor.....
appledaily editor dat approved this material should be :trout :trout :trout :trout :trout :trout :trout :trout :trout

as for those ayu haters out there.....it is a frequent fenomena....
whenever there is a succesful artist who is able to top charts week after week there will be a group of pple unable to accept dat their fav artists are just not as good...... they obviously have thier mind so set in their hate dat they never stop to appreciate music dat is sung with emotion and character........ i dont feel angry at these pple but sad that they cannot appreciate a true artiste :cry :cry :cry

You had to request for us to move your posts from ezboard. I fixed it.

It's hard to get over it when it's something that you reaelly care about. And yes, we know that she's reallly good, but when you have appledaily spewing junk at people that may not know better than that's going to create a lot of false beliefs about Ayu.

Ashley

Unimatrix Prime™ 11th November 2002 04:38 PM

This is all just a load of garbage and should be ignored. With all those singles and albums Ayu sold this year, I see no reason as to how she could be voted the worst....it's just nonsense to me...

Biscuitgirl 11th November 2002 05:05 PM

Anyone who bashes Ayu has obviously not listened to her or ever tried to appreciate her. That newspaper is probably just a tabloid anyway!

Dark_Shinobi 11th November 2002 05:07 PM

I agree with Omega Prime. She is too great of a singer to be the worst. I think appledaily is just slandering on ayu cause they got nothing on her.

It's not based on the number of things sold, and the vote wasn't in japan. The vote was in china and it's based on how horrible the media is to artists there. Read isaacs translation.

I'm shocked to hear people bashing ayu. I only started listening to her a few days ago. I was actually shocked with what I heard. I think the US is deprived of talented singers like her. As for Dir en Grey, I think they are horrible. I hope not all Jrock sounds like them. They sound like a Punk band attempting to do heavy metal, and just coming off like crap. I like ayu because I think it sounds great, even if I don't know what she's saying. I didn't think pop could ever sound good. The funny thing is I'm a guy, and I'm saying this. Well, I would also like to say Hi, this is my first post!

Hey squarenuts! Welcome to the forum! I've hardly heard anything by Dir en Grey, so I can't really comment on their style of music, but like most music seems to be nowadays, it's more geared towards the "western" style of music. Most artists in Japan are mimicking artists here in the US, and as much as I'd hope for them to be individual, that's just how it is. What's good about Ayu is that although she has some of that western appeal to her, she doesn't go around flaunting herself and sings what's important to her, not about the last guy she was with or how she wants to "do it" like so many US artists nowadays. So until the day Ayu and the rest of jpop becomes pure American "filth", then I'll still think of Ayu as #1, no matter what a tabloid may say.

Biscuitgirl 12th November 2002 06:32 AM

Bob Saget says: "When Ayu rules the world, as punishment, all Ayu bashers will be forced to watch Full House reruns until they keel over dead!"

Also, unlike a lot of Jpop artists nowadays, I read somewhere that Ayu has no intentions of producing any song in English, feeling she can express herself better in Japanese. I would probably stop listening to Jpop, and music altogether if it became so western that all it talked about was sex, violence and drugs.
You're right aswell because Ayu has western appeal but all her songs have meaning and substance, something which would take a lot of searching to find in the american and uk music industries.

I'd like to say that I try to ignore the bashing of my favorite
singers, but I tend to defend them alot. :D Some of you
know me for my infamous defense towards Morning Musume.
I try to point out to people here that the perception of JPop
in North America is inaccurate, and that they should *learn*
more about it before bashing.

Insulting or bashing any singer or group is bad because they
are (usually) pouring their 'everything' into their work.

If you don't have something nice and true to say...Then don't say anything at all!

Once you all have got use of such meaningless surveys/articles like I do, you won't felt anything except a :laugh and so on.

C'mon, I seen things worse than that. It's only a survey, and it's only short-term, and it refelcts that Ayumi's tour in China isn't that fun after all.

But on the other side, why she can stay on the throne for so long? It must be a reason, and we all know that.

But it pissed me off quite a bit alright.

ERado San 14th November 2002 03:08 PM

Kiddy Stuff

Hi everybody (and Hi again, Isaac :))

I would not get too excited about that bit of 'news' and peeps that want to bash Ayumi. Personally, I am more into J-Rock, Aikawa Nanase my favourite. But some of Ayumi'x music isn't bad at all.

Look, it's normally irritating 15 year olds that bash just about everybody that's famous when they are obsessed by the band they love themselves. As if their band is the only one in the world that's interesting enough to listen to. You like Ayumi, so enjoy her music, her concerts, her videos. whatever, and that's all you need to know. No serious music fan would ever take such a rubbish article slamming any band seriously.

I call this kind of behaviour kindergarten stuff, and you find things like that all over the internet and not only about Ayumi.

By the way, Isaac, we have moved the Aikawa Nanase Forum away from EZBoard. We were getting too many nasty adult popups there. Check my signature to view the new Aikawa Nanase Board... Hope you like it.

Have fun, everybody.

Like I've said before, we should all just ignore all of this and forget about it. Unless this was true (which I hope it'd never happen), then we don't need to get worked up about this. And ERado San, welcome to the new AHS! I'm assuming that u know Issac from perhaps old AHS, so I'll just say welcome back :)

hey, even if this was true, which it most obviously isn't, I would still stay an Ayu fan no matter what. SO whatever is written about her doesn't change my opinion of her one bit. It just makes me wanna hurt the press.

ERado San knows Isaac Hiew from Aikawa's Nanase Board where Isaac was one of the admins but he quit recently!

About ignoring it jose.. please read what i've said about that twice in the other posts in the thread. thanks.

PinkSock 15th November 2002 02:45 AM

yeah! We should DEFINATELY ignore that magazine, and absolutely refuse to buy it, of course!
But my thing is that a lot of you said that you had friends that were fans of j-rock, but not of ayumi!
How can that be!
I love Gackt and Mana's my favorite transvestite!
WHY CAN'T WE ALL JUST GET ALONG!??
My friends and I love both genres of music.... but only because I make converts for my ayumi cult....
hmmm! maybe that's a solution!
Does any of this make any sense? probably not....

Yes...I've read your posts, but I'm just saying that we don't need to get worked over this. I know it was printed in China, and it's not based on her CD sales, but if we made a big deal about every topic that had some false accusation, then we'd go nowhere with it...just my 2 cents...

yeah, if it's a Chinese site, then it would make sense that they're bashing Ayu. Now if it was a Japanese site, I would be shocked...reminds me of all the Britney bashing that goes in the US, or bashing of sports players who are good...

but the Ayu bashes i've heard from non-jpop fans lately are "she looks like a 12-yr old" and "i don't like dyed hair." I was like WTF, then an Asian girl has to be 30s before you consider them legal age? You like your girls old? Some people...

btw, does anyone know if bashing popular people is a "US" thing? I heard that that is not done in Japan, and i haven't seen it either. Anyone know? :)

Hiro is talking about their singing voice being nasally. Neither Ayu nor Keiko speaks nasally, but sometimes when they sing they make sorta nasaly sounds, lol. Like when Ayu does her "ru" sounds, they sound nasally sometime. It's not necessarily a bad thing, but they do sound like it sometimes. For example, listen to the very beginning of the song I Am, it sounds nasally in that part of the song without music.

ERado San 16th November 2002 03:51 AM

MOving one past one thing and talking in general. "It bothers me when people bash ayu".. that's what we're talking about

samuraiDRIVE 21st November 2002 09:17 AM

Every artist has fans, but once you have critics, you know you're really famous. It would be boring if everyone just LOVED Ayu... because then we wouldn't have people writing this stupid stuff and giving us things to discuss! :D :D :D :D

AyuSwissFan 21st November 2002 09:35 PM

It bothers me too, when people bash ayu.

But in Switzerland japanese artists in generally aren't that famous...
and Japanese music is still something special here -
you can't listen to japanese music over the radio or tv.
So I don't really have to fight for a positive image of Ayu.

It's more like this;

Person 1 says: I love Britney :think
Person 2: I hate her - she can't sing! :gun
Person 3: I like Aguilera :)
Person 1 and 2: That bitch?! :angrygrou:trout

I: I love Ayu... :heart
Person 1-3: Ayu? Who's Ayu??? :confused

:D:D

HAHAHA! That's the same way it is here. People aren't open to accepting artists from other cultures, unless they add in the S.E.X. factor. (is BB Mac an exception?) No sex = no fame. I'm personally not too big of a fan of Britney nor Christina because they place more emphasis on sexuality rather than making "good" music, which relates to my posts in the Hikki vs. Ayu thread. There's always going to be people who bash Ayu for stupid reasons that are usually lies. "She's a pop singer!" (there is a difference between American pop and JPop) "She doesn't write her own songs!" (she uses the pseudonym CREA) "She's too nasal!" "She had surgery!"

}{anabi_PrYd3 23rd November 2002 07:00 AM

But I like her Nasalic sound! IT's so pretty.. and on thing i have to point out.. even thoe ayumi is like the most fashionable dresser, she doesnt dress like christina agulara or britney.. which is good.. she doesnt try to show her boobs or wear a short skirt or watever.. but u knoe people jsut wanna see sluts like britny and christina..

actually, Ayu has done a pic where she was topless except for her hair covering her chest. She also did pics where she just has leaves covering her chest and bush. I think she's using sex appeal too. If Britney & Christina appear slutty, they must be doing something more than what Ayu has done.

Xe0n 23rd November 2002 08:14 AM

AAAAarrrrrrGGGGG

:curse WTF !!! After reading this title of the forum made me piss off after what I read !!! she isn't the worst cause everyone know she the best and even if she the worst why she making new cd's and selling millions of them ? well I think those news people just want more rating to here news paper and websites ! I hate those peoples who does that to ayu cause I really love her music and she got nice looks and stylez too hehe

sex appeal is only a small part of ayu's image....she does not promote herself thru excessive skin baring like some pple do....

That is a good way of saying it!!!!! Unlike Christina and Britney, Ayu isn't butt naked 24/7. Ayumi knows how to be sexy and show skin occaisonally, but she does not go overboard and show too much too frequently.

bulmasman 23rd November 2002 08:09 PM

It doesn't bother me what the critics say because I know in my heart that I am an Ayu fan to the fullest. Also, I really don't like Christina Aguilera's new video. It may as well be branded a porno. I pity her if she needs to show that much skin just to sell a record.

Grantith 23rd November 2002 08:12 PM

Christina's PV = Porno Video

I love Ayu 23rd November 2002 09:24 PM

i guess i'll have to take you guys' word for it, cuz i never hear nor see Britney or Christina...i don't watch MTV. I guess they're still popular? :confused

Unimatrix Prime™ 23rd November 2002 09:27 PM

In case you haven't seen it, check out the cover of the Rolling Stones cover for just how revealing Christina can be. Granted, Ayu has had her fair share of showing skin (The Takano Beauty Clinic CM shows just about everything of Ayu), but you won't see Ayu doing it to a chair or wearing thongs in her vid. A woman can be just as sexy wearing a nice dress or outfit as she could wearing little to nothing, but without flaunting her body.

my friend told me that she was naked except for the guitar covering her "parts." Anyhow, i guess that's why everyone hates Britney & Christina? :confused I never really understood that. The only artist i hate is Morning Musume cuz Iida Kaori acts like a b****, and they try to act too cute and sexy in their songs :mad If Britney & Christina are like that, then i can understand.

Where talent stops, sex appeal begins.

ps as much as I don't like britney and christina, this thread is about how we don't like people bashing ayu, so it wuold be respectful not to bash other artists.

Grantith 23rd November 2002 09:58 PM

SanChan 6th December 2002 04:20 AM

I'm living in japan now, and there is a huge population that loves Ayu, however there's alot of other people that dislike ayu with a passion. i think that it's a bad idea to say ayu is the worst artist, because i see how popular she is over here, but on the same note she's also disliked by alot of the population. One person i was talking to said, "Ayu is for little girls only". I said well i guess i'm a little girl than. In anycase I disagree with article cuz i love Ayu!!!!!!:D (>_<)

fantaisie.sign 6th December 2002 05:25 AM

Not meaning to go off-topic, but SanChan, your avatar is a little. . . big.

Since this topic has been brought back up, I'll leave my 2 cents. Ashley's right about how sex appeal is used for talentless acts to the point where it's sickening. It just goes to show how far artists will go to get attention and fame, even if the fame has nothing to do with the "talent" at all. It's sad to know how people (mainly men) will flock to pick up the latest bare-all Rolling Stone magazine instead of buying a talent-filled CD such as anything of Ayu's. But then that turns into a debate into what is considered music and what is considered garbage, like whether rap music is actual music or just garbled profanity jammed into a simple background track. It all comes down to who is willing to bare more skin.
