Classical Music?

okay so im taking Music107 in college, which is teh study of classical music and alot of it has hit me as, just really beautiful music. I know not alot of people can admit they listen to it, but honestly, anyone here actually enjoy it? I dunno before I took the class I liked it but I;d never know the title or anything, but I think this class has really helped me look more at genres that are more uncommon or whatever you wanna call it. But yeah anyone just sometimes feel in a mood where theyd rather just relax, put some good old Mozart or Beethtoven haha or whatever? i mean I wouldnt be blasting it in my car or nothing haha.

Or am I alone? :paperbag

Kazuko 1st February 2005 05:30 AM

Yes, I enjoy it :D I like classical guitar and a little bit of piano. *pats* Don't worry you're not alone. ^^

Jennie Mae 1st February 2005 05:57 AM

Yeah, I took a Humanities in Art class and we spent a few weeks on classical music... it was so amazing. I don't understand how one person can write music for every instrument and make it all come together.

BanFan 1st February 2005 06:23 AM

Ooh. I love classical music. It really helps me with my painting. I hope Ayumi's new Classical album will be good...

s.k.y 1st February 2005 06:42 AM

I like classical music! and darn proud of it too^^ I especially enjoy the piano and the string instruments. I forgot what the musical term is for it tho, haha, or if there is even one.

...I am so confused right now O.O

sxesven 1st February 2005 07:01 AM

Although I'm not a big fan of classical music, I can definitely appreciate it, and I do like some. My favorites are Debussey and Mussorgsky, brilliant stuff. The Chinese movie 'Together' sparked my interest again as well; it's got a great, classical soundtrack, that I recommend highly (along with the movie).

DarkWanderer 1st February 2005 08:42 AM

Classical music are one of my favorites types of music!! :) I listen mostly to piano music cause I play the piano. Prokofiev, Debussy, Ravel, Tchaikovsky, Rachmaninoff are all my fave composers :P But I'm not really into Bach or Mozart stuff.

HanabiChick 1st February 2005 10:03 AM

I love classical music, I'm still new at liking it, my favourites so far are Tchaikovsky, Bach and Vivaldi. I have two sets of several classical music CDs, I really must listen to more of them.

Chrono 1st February 2005 10:54 AM

*shivers*

hey, I don't deny it's good. It's just definately not my taste. However, Chinese "classical" music is a different story. Too long a story. Suffice it to say, I like that.

minkAYuko 1st February 2005 03:10 PM

Classical music is wonderful i love it!!! sunc a wonderful music.... i play the piano also... so is really cool to play that kind of music!

Moonlight sonata! i can't get enough of it!!!!!!!!

Corybobory 1st February 2005 03:25 PM

There's this beautiful song, Con te partiro by Andrea Bocelli. I guess you'd call it Opera... but classical and opera go hand in hand :) And this song is absolutely gorgeous! Myself, I'm a bit of a Wagner fan.

yulen 1st February 2005 03:43 PM

i love classical music. favorites include canon in d, air on the g string, and jesu joy of man's desiring. i like more but those are my favorites. i'm a fan of bach xD

Corybobory 1st February 2005 05:48 PM

^Ahhhh Jesu joy of man's desiring!!! That song killed my fingers on the clarinet. Ouch!

What about Pachabel's Canon? That's a good one, and since I didnt have it at my grad it wasn't ruined for me hehe

bulmasman 1st February 2005 06:51 PM

Yes, i like classical aswell. Don't know titles or anything but i'll definately listen if i like it.

Also, this may be cheating, but i treat most of the music from the final fantasy game series (and chrono series) as classical... i highly doubt i'm mistaken either :D

i looooove canon :love they played it at my uncle and aunt's wedding and i loved it ever since..hehe it's also one of the main songs for "my sassy girl" :yes
i also love all the songs we sang in choir like ave verum and a dozen different versions of alleluia :P

mlkrepublic 1st February 2005 08:02 PM

love classical music :) although it is true that i don't usually tell ppl that ... it's sad...
seriously, classical music is the most sublime form of music. the music we listen to nowadays is all derived from classical music in some ways. unfortunately, there's basically no one now who can compose music like Chopin, Rachmaninov, Tchaikovsky, Beethoven, Liszt, etc.

A lot of videogame music can be considered as orchestral (although often synthetized) - surely it's not classical, but definitely similar, stylistically.

And I agree, I wuuuv videogame soundtracks as well. In fact, I'm gonna listen to the Chrono Cross soundtrack in a couple of minutes. Hella good.

i prefer to play both on piano lol. but yeah i had to play it on clarinet one year to so i know how u feel lol!

-BOKU- 1st February 2005 08:45 PM

ahh Pachelbel has to be one of my fav songs *hears it now* thats kinda what sparked me to make this thread haha.

Some video games have teh best orchestral songs ever, or well just soundtracks. I like the shenmue soundtracks since it combines classic asian instruments as well, so many good ones.

I think those gregorian Chant songs are cool, *thinks Zelda* oh yeah

minkAYuko 2nd February 2005 01:26 AM

extepan 2nd February 2005 01:30 PM

TNeilson 2nd February 2005 06:52 PM

i LOVE classical music!!!especially the sound of violins and orchestras. <333

PsyGen 2nd February 2005 09:46 PM

Barber's Adagio For Strings :yes

I don't mind classical music now, when I was younger I hated it. Now I like to listen to it at night... either that or Trance... lol :P

Catzi 2nd February 2005 10:14 PM

Classical music is awesome! Go Swan Lake, Nutcracker, The Magic Flute!

But the Romantic classical music is usually the best one. I don't like the Broque movement all that much.

-BOKU- 2nd February 2005 10:47 PM

We just started learning about teh classical period, i wasnt a big fan of Baroque eiher. Its too similiar to each other. Classical period more variety started. Only Baroque I really like is Probablyy Bach's Organ Fugue "Little Fugue" theres others but that one stood out.

Yvette: most likely lol

littlefairyfromnam 3rd February 2005 03:18 AM

Catzi, you have good taste. I'm not a baroque fan, but I'll listen to pretty much anything else. Handel and Hayden are great. I love music with a strong bass section. I play tuba so it works.
Anybody listen to bond? (I have all the cd's..)

BanFan 4th February 2005 04:40 AM

I love almost any song with a violin...

Orchestra/classical type music adds so much to songs...:)

~K+ 5th February 2005 12:18 AM

I recommend Tchaikovsky's "Swan Lake Suite" and Gustav Holst's "The Planets".

Catzi 5th February 2005 01:42 AM

littlefairyfromnam, thank you very much! Bond is pretty good.

MariachiGurl2005, Vanessa Mae has great music!

littlefairyfromnam 5th February 2005 02:13 PM

Mmmm...plantets... yum... Swan lake. I have my radio on the all-classical station at college and it's amazing. Except for when the signal gets crossed with the Christian rock station. *shudder*

yumikoi 21st February 2005 11:10 PM

Erm, if Ayu's Acoustic versions of her songs count, then I :love Classical!!!

But seriously,

I listen to Tchaikovsky, Beethoven sometimes, and others, when I'm really bored.

BanFan 23rd February 2005 05:14 AM

It's not really classical, but I love how the violin sounds mixed with piano and guitar in aiko's Hanakaze & Sankoku Eki...I really need to buy the Sankoku Eki single just for the instrumental track...

*Also needs to pick up his violin that's collecting dust in the corner in the case*

Peruvian_Sky 23rd February 2005 05:36 AM

Classical is great. My favorite is Franz Schubert. I also like Yo-Yo Ma. And if Apocalyptica counts, then I guess they would be one of my favorites. They are string quartet that plays metal songs on cellos. They sound almost like chamber music.

Corybobory 23rd February 2005 11:59 PM

I broke out my clarinet yesterday because my friend just bought a flute and suggested we should play together some time. It was awesome, I can still make ambulance noises.
