Title:
beating two enemies Utada Hikaru & Amuro Namie
Hamasaki Ayumi is crowned the number 1 queen in japan's music industry

Japan's TBS show '? TV good morning' has recently conducted a poll for viewers to elect their 'number 1 queen in the history of japan's music industry'. Ayu has been crowned the number 1 throne among the highly talented singers, beating two major enemies Utada Hikaru & Amuro Namie. This is an encouragement for her after her career is said to be going downhill.

In the top 10, ayu and namie hold the 1st and 2nd position. the newcomer TiA is the black horse, holding the third place. Hikki got a surprising number 6.

the vocalist of Dreams Come True, nakashima, Misia, AIKO hold the 4th, 5th, 7th & the 8th positions. The two divas matsuda seiko and nakamori akina are tied at number 9 as they have the same number of votes.

the reason that Ayu won hikki by a mile is that hikki has concentrated her efforts in america. She has neglected the japanese market and lost the support of her fans. on the contrary, ayu's new arena tour '05 has already started in osaka, and she appeared in 9 different costumes. All the 240,000 tickets of the 26 shows are already sold out. ayu's status of being the queen is as sturdy as the mountains.

on the other habd, seiko and akina, who have not been appearing much lately, were invited to be guests of a TV entertainment show. they competed a game of bowling, thus creating a merry atmosphere as they have not worked with each other for a long time.

It's nice to see something positive about Ayu in Oriental Daily.

Larisa-chan 3rd February 2005 10:22 PM

it's good to see that Ayu is number 1 <3 though the reasons for why she's at number 1 provided by the newspaper seem just a tad fabricated ;)

Mirai Noah 3rd February 2005 10:53 PM

Thanks for the translation!

It's interesting that TiA is number 3...

BlAcK_vElVeT 3rd February 2005 11:27 PM

i dont know who is TiA either, i have never heard of her

and Oriental Daily often has positive things about ayu. people just selectively remember the negative articles. that's how the mind works.

and asongforxx, i love your avatar!!!!!

tl1029530921 6th February 2005 12:23 AM

oooh...that pic of her in the red dresss is hot.,.o.o..anyone have the original?

Halla 6th February 2005 01:24 AM

thanks for the new & translation

I sorta doubt how accurate these results are , I can't believe how such a new artist like TiA (debuted last year , at least i think so) could be in such a high ranking. seems weird that a new artist can suddenly surpass long time favorites that much

TiA sung some ending-song on the anime "Naruto" and released her album "humming" last year.

lolo66 6th February 2005 05:27 AM

^
Some artists just happen to have more fans that are into these sort of things.

lolo66 7th February 2005 06:20 AM

Is the pink dress with the corset what (the newspapers) they're refering to be S&M... nothing looks like S&M from all the pics so far..

ayu is one of them :D

SunshineSlayer 9th February 2005 06:43 AM

It's great for Ayu, but as others have pointed out, that article is exaggerated. One example is them saying Ayu's tour is sold out, which can't even be possible since some of the dates haven't gone on sale yet. :) Though I'm sure they will sell out when they do go on sale.

CyberSpaceQueen 9th February 2005 07:53 AM

thanks

extepan 10th February 2005 12:49 PM

the dates that are on sale are sold out, which means that the tour is sold out :D

evechoco 10th February 2005 02:37 PM

it's nice to see oriental daily say something good abt ayu and thanks for the info

//hikari 10th February 2005 03:51 PM

geez you all get mad when they say bad things about her and then when they say really good things about her, uplifting things, you say they're over exaggerating .... *rolls eyes* make up your minds in what you want .. cause its not always going to be bland

for all the 50 people who posted several times asking about TiA

she's a new singer with a really good voice .. she has a powerful presence in her ballads ... especially "be fulfilled"

extepan 10th February 2005 04:40 PM

thanks for the unbiased opinion, hikari :)

reesdude 10th February 2005 06:06 PM

ayu is the best, but in the books, she's still second in # of albums that sold over a million, shes needs 2 more...so i read. I'd be happy for her if she wants to retire after, japanese are all about going out while at they're peak... like samuri ! but then again who knows where the peak is with a sold out tour and platnum album...

I don't see what's wrong with saying it's exaggerated. Whenever they write something good OR bad about Ayu it seems to be exaggerated or just plain wrong. They are journalists, so I don't see the problem with people thinking that they should be good and accurate journalists.
