So, Ayu wouldn't be on the top list, because you counted singles.
She's sold around 16 million albums. Which, I would say is about 32 million in America. I'm not too sure though.

Haha, and that's NOT including the overseas versions! I mean if you count all the Ayu CDs, the legitimate ones (Japan and overseas versions), you can probably add another 1/4 of the total amount of CDs that she has sold onto this current number of CDs!

They just did a special on Music Station where they ranked all of the artists by total sales and Ayu is #4 in Japan. I imagine that by the end of her career she will be #1 on the list by a long shot considering that the 3 artists above her in sales have been around for a lot longer.

Utada was #9, so that should put the "who sells more" debate to rest.

i think that the moments numbers ARE RITE cuz the sales of moments n carols were like the same....according to oricon, moments is #19, carols #20. opening week for these 2 singles was like around 160-170K, so i think that these 2 singles did sell around 300K
as for overseas versions, i dunt think many ppl OUTSIDE of japan would buy the albums...(just my thought)

ORicon annual from last year, CAROLS was still in the chart for one or two more weeks after this was published. So yes, 2004 single sales weren't all that great. No big hits for Ayumi . But I think that HEAVEN ang fairyland will do better, at least HEAVEN. Looking at the top sellers there are movie tie ups.

DUTY didn't sold 3 million copies, it sold 2,904,420 million copies.

I AM didn't sold 3 million, either. It sold 2,301,020 million copies.

Loveppears number is right (well, almost: 2,562 million copies).

RAINBOW numbers are right, too.

MY STORY numbers are wrong, too. I know according to someone translation the album sold over 1,3 million, but believe me, this is WRONG. According to the ORICON official database the album sold 1,1 million.

A SONG FOR XX sold 1,451,910.

And A BALLADS sold 917,555 while in Oricon (it's probably over 1 million now, but it's her weakest selling album).

This numbers WHILE in Oricon charts.

I know it's straight from Oricon, what I'm saying is that in their OFFICIAL DATABASE the number didn't change and the official database is still official, while some news ISN'T. I'm not saying she didn't sold that, but the official number is still 1,1 million until Oricon change their database.

the problem is it is official. if oricon types that number out n puts it on their website, then it would b official. if it wasnt official, they wouldnt put 1.3m sold in the 1st place, they would put 1.1m sold.
