Right, after MUCH time and thought, i've finally decided on my most favourite song of all time. I was always under the impression that it would be an Ayu song, no contest, but i was mistaken.

I seriously love this song, and hearing the (almost) 7 minute orchestral version has just made my mind up. It's perfect imo, amazing vocals, great melody, powerful and touching all in one.

Damn, there's no way to decide lol. Although I agree with the Queen, I also agree with Tim plus other favorites I have. I'll try and decide though. :)

Um dude, i'm asking for people all time favourite song, not the greatest song ever created. This is all down to opinion, people don't have to class, say, a Beatles track as their number 1 favourite song just because the band were influential, it's just down to what they're favourite song IS. Everyone is allowed to base their decision on whatever reason they like. hell, even Bootylicious by Destiny's Child could crop up here. Not a marvel of musical genius by any terms, but if it's someone's favourite song, who are we to judge?

Erm.... probably "Tears" by Mika Nakashima for me.

This is really hard. I guess I'll go with Gackt-Vanilla. Even though it's about sex, it's a good song(I'm always attracted to those kind of songs). He sings about somehwta of a poetic way. You would never know unless you read the lyrics.

I'll have to go with Boheamian Rhapsody too.

Mizerable - Gackt

I absolutely adore this song and the video for it. But it's specifically the lyrics of the song that really catch me. I absolutely love his style of writing. *glomp*

Forgiveness - Ayumi Hamasaki

This is the very first Ayumi song I ever heard (not counting Poker Face because I can't really remember it). It's because of this song that I got so into Ayu's music. Not to mention the fact that it is such an incredibly beautiful song!

Sakura Drops - Utada Hikaru

This song is like no other I have ever heard. It just flows so incredibly well. The first time I heard this song (which was actually on DDR), I immediately fell in love with it. Of course, it took me about a year or so to actually figure out what it was. ^^;

Wait & See ~Risk~ - Utada Hikaru

This is definitely one of my favorite songs. *nod nod* For one thing, I think this song might be the one I'm best at singing. The thing is...I can't really explain why I like this one so much. *shrug*

Infection - Chihiro Onitsuka

I absolutely love Chihiro Onitsuka (even though I've only heard one of her songs...XD). I basically fell in love with this song when I first heard it as well. It's just such a...somehow powerful song. It just keeps growing and growing...I love it!

Northern Star by Hole

when I first heard this song I cried my heart out... it's so touching, so sad and SO real.
Courtney Love has the perfect voice for screaming, and when she's screaming out her pain and sorrows, gosh, it's beyond everything...

no offence , but mean it or not that sounds really elitist. because what makes a great song is simply just up to the listener. it's ridicilous to think you could say for others what makes an "artistic and musical greatness" regardless how much music you've listened or not. everyone decides for themselves , it's as simple as that.

i personally think "influental music" is just another way of saying really popular music :rolleyes

My personal greatest song of all time is "IS IT YOU?" by hitomi. I just feel her performance is so emotional & just perfect , I'll never get bored of it :)

First off, choosing one song is pretty much an impossible task for me. My tastes in music vary by the month, although I do have some consistincy when it comes to a couple of bands/artists. Moreover though, I'm more of an 'album' type person than a 'song' type person. 99% of the time, I'll put an album rather than just listening to a song, or a string of random songs. Ask me for a list of my favorite albums, easy - a list of my favorite songs, that's hard. Not in the last place because a lot of the music I listen to forms more of a coherent piece per album rather than a collection of songs.

Nevertheless though, there's this one song that is incredibly special to me. First off, it's just incredible music-wise. Perfectly balanced, more than astonishing vocals, an INCREDIBLE band, excellent tempo. Seriously, the instrumentation is astonishing - controlled yet incredibly powerful and exactly like it should be. The drum track is amazing. And then there's the fact that it reminds me of happy times. Whenever I was driving to the beach last summer, it was the first song on the CD to start playing. A summer breeze, the perfect mood, the perfect tempo, it was just so right. Whenever I hear the song it reminds of those perfect moments again, beautiful, unique - it's hard for anything to top that (Lost In Translation not take into account). So what's the song?

Chihiro Onitsuka - Tiger In My Love

Surreal by Ayu will always and forever be my favorite song and, for me, the greatest song OF ALL TIME

I would have never thought someone would share my GREATEST SONG OF ALL TIME.

For me it is 'Dearest' as well, by of course Hamasaki Ayumi. A great song to me has to do nothing with being groundbreaking or completely unique, but it has to do with the meaning of the song and the message that the listener recieves and to me I got the message of pure and divine love and devotion. This song just means the world to me and one day I hope that I can convey the feelings in this song to my loved one.

About the whole controversy about a "great song", I am personally tired of hearing people say that "GREAT SONGS" were all the oldies and really famous names because I think music is great if it really means something to you and all those artist you mentioned and the Beatles and Queens and whatnot definitely are AMAZING but I guess I wasn't around in their time period or what not to really feel what they were all about and their music. It really depends on time period and stuff too, well in my opinion. Many of today's music is probably really generic but it is pretty hard to do something extremely unique when almost everything has been tried, NOT EVERYTHING but a good deal of it. Anyways I hope I'm making any sense but yeah... ^^;; I LOVE POP music hahaha and it does mean a lot to me, their messages maybe shallow at times and sugar coated but they mean a lot to me and so they are what I consider GREAT songs. (I'm crazy don't even bother listening to me hahaha)

and out of all these songs, i would say Morcheeba - Blindfold is my favourite of all. in fact, the parent album 'Big Calm' is still my favourite album of all time, despite it being released for nearly 8 years.

i think that the all time greatest song for me is ''i have never seen'' because it was just a good song and namie does a great job singing and for me, another one would be ah....a tie between ''when someone's wishes come true'' by hikki or ''memorial address'' by ayu. both those songs make me always tear-up abit and those are songs that i can listen to for hours on end and never get tired of them.

I just can't choose one! As I just can't choose between Madonna and Ayumi...

Well, simply it's the song I've been in love ever since I was 6 years old or a bit more, the catchiest piece of music I've ever put my ears on - "Walk of Life" by Dire Straits. It's impossible not to get the instrumentals stuck into your head for ages. I never got tired o the song and whenever I listen to it again, oh the flashbacks of childhood LOL The song reminds me of parties and other happist moments. It really sets the mood high.

Favorite: A Song For Xx - Ayumi Hamasaki (A BEST version)
Greatest: COMA - Guns n' Roses (10 minutes of awesome rock n' roll that as with Queen's Bohemian Rhapsody I can't see being duplicated by anyone. Even the band themselves rarely tried this one live and the times they did, it was with varying degrees of success. Extremely difficult song and Axl's songwriting at its craziest best)

Bohemian Rhapsody-Queen

I remember crying listening to this song once. It's like a 6 minute movie with ups & downs. At first it's all slow then at the end Queen rocks out. I love it.

Hmmm.. It's really difficult, because of the large number of genres and different styles in music. My Personal favorite of all times is "Canon" by Johan Pachelbel, although I'm tempted to answer "M" by Ayumi Hamasaki..... They're simple, beautiful, emotional and.. well... To explain it a bit more; Sometimes when I hear a song, my first thought is "WOW,THIS is REALLY real music, What Have I been listening to before?" THis doesen't happen very often, and to very few songs, but when it happens I know I'm hooked. Then there are the songs that grow on me and the songs that I tire from swiftly.

That "WOW" thing happened to lots of ayu songs, that's how I bacame a "fan" of her music.

Since nobody else is following the rules, I'm not going to either. :-P

I've loved this song forever. It's my favorite Ayu song and it's just so amazing. I bought the vinyl, the single, the album...I can't get enough of it. Great lyrics, great PV, great vocals, everything!

Mariah Carey - Butterfly
This is one of the most touching songs ever. It will always hold a special spot in my heart. It's my favorite Mariah song and I ADORE her, so that's saying a lot. I remember the video for it...the tears in it where actually real because the song meant so much to her. I LOVE it!
