News about 'SHINOBI' theme song

http://www.sponichi.co.jp/entertainm.../05/10/05.html

It will be on sale in this year fall. Its the song for a movie , "忍―SHINOBI"

Ayu_desu 10th May 2005 12:38 AM

wow... knowing the release so soon but releasing so late.

nmskalmn 10th May 2005 12:39 AM

Thanks for the info. :thumbsup

The movie opens on 17 September, so I guess the single will be released near that date.

jasjasss 10th May 2005 12:45 AM

wahhh omg omg .... to wait another 4 monthss :(
is shinobi a good movie ?

//hikari 10th May 2005 12:50 AM

She may be releasing another single before this .. they wouldn't just say all of her up and coming releases as well as this one. This is probably just a scheduled release for the movie.

mnuguyen 10th May 2005 12:56 AM

Thanks for the info.
:D

this is true. yay. it might really be good news yet.

matt 10th May 2005 01:03 AM

TeamAyu confirms this, but also goes to say that it isn't the same song as the movie tie-up. She is releasing a seperate song that we haven't heard yet. I would think she will start performing it at A-Nation when that tour starts, and it might be released around then too. But yeah, the movie themesong is a seperate release.

zeroshin888 10th May 2005 01:03 AM

we'll see~
i hope she does release a single before this one =D

Mirai Noah 10th May 2005 01:35 AM

Thanks for the info!

JimmyKoria 10th May 2005 01:47 AM

=o thank god Im not 100% obsessed with ayumi or Id be dying from a massive heart attack from the wait.

kaoruline^^ 10th May 2005 01:48 AM

thx for the info ^^

elepop 10th May 2005 01:49 AM

New stuff already, so cool!

I hope this movie is good. Hehe.

MariachiGurl2005 10th May 2005 02:12 AM

cool! ^^' thanx for the info!!!!!! Can't wait!

ll moments ll 10th May 2005 02:54 AM

hopefully she'll release one before that. like around july.
but thanks for the info!

DerrickRocks 10th May 2005 03:17 AM

So there could be two upcoming singles one in summer and one in fall and hopefully and album in December!! isn't that how she releases anyway anually

Brittany 10th May 2005 04:06 AM

I think she'll release something in the summer sometime, than a single in the fall for the movie. I can't be so sure, she's on tour as of now, eh?

Coelacanth 10th May 2005 04:06 AM

The article is very positive... Through the auto-translator, I can see that this is definitely a ballad. And that I think she wrote the song purposely FOR the movie. It is also said that this movie is going to be like a Japan style 'Romeo & Juliet' and that the song is destined to be a love song that remains in future generations like Celine Dion's song for 'Titanic'. That's some huge praise. It goes on about saying that Ayu is enthusiastic about the song, and that it's going to be a big hit and possibly win the Gold Record Award at the end of the year. So, wow... Thanks for the news!

FoObY 10th May 2005 04:21 AM

I hope she releases more remix albums! (maybe something like ayu trance 4) I'm itching for more remixes XD

stardusties 10th May 2005 04:32 AM

shaking...with...HAPPYNESSS AAAHHHHH -goes crazy-

TeamAyu 10th May 2005 04:37 AM

FINALLY AYU GET'S A GOOD TIE IN!!! No more Panasonic!! I really hope everything goes well with this single. Happy it's a ballad too!!! So EXCITED!! I bet it'll be worth the wait! Hopefully this'll bring her back to the wayyy top! and hopefully win Best Artist of the Year for Gold Disc Awards. *excited for new ballad* I hope CREA composes this one!

gogirlanime 10th May 2005 04:42 AM

I pray and hope that she'll release another single before that one, like a summer release, who knows, maybe that fall released single will be her last single release before a new album, maybe she's gonna break the December album release pattern.

evechoco 10th May 2005 04:50 AM

i'm looking forward to it, thanks for the info

Delirium-Zer0 10th May 2005 05:23 AM

I definitely hope the song is released in the summer... july or august is definitely a reasonable time to expect it. If it's a ballad that has a huge movie tie-in i hope it's better than "My Heart Will Go On"... that song's melody and lyrics are just terrible ~_~ I hope it's a ballad that's as good as SEASONS and Dearest were! I miss her really good ballad singles... Voyage and CAROLS were both very disappointing compared to the other two. And walking proud was good, and so was HAPPY ENDING... so I KNOW ayu hasn't lost her touch with ballads.

Kazuko 10th May 2005 05:52 AM

Thanks for the news! :D

DA1SUK1DAY01691 10th May 2005 06:00 AM

if she does this, i hope she at least takes a break next year, because it's gonna take a lot of work to achieve her annual schedule of 2 singles and a album... and from what i heard, AVEX isn't treating her as good as before...

AYUCREA 10th May 2005 06:00 AM

wow!! it's cool!! looking forward to it
the new single would be a ballads

Qt Mashi 10th May 2005 06:52 AM

wow~~~!!! cant wait i hope she releases a single b4 that though!!

i am soooo gonna watch the movie shinobi also buy the dvd as well~ only if the movie is gonng be good :)

Creamy Ayumi 10th May 2005 07:04 AM

wooowww for Shinobi movie!!
Great!
Thanks for this info!

hmmm ... is that so? ... well then ... ayu must have a great deal of pressure on her to put out this song.

Echiko 10th May 2005 07:45 AM

YAY! ^____^ I can't wait for it!

shizukesa 10th May 2005 07:46 AM

Cyria 10th May 2005 08:52 AM

Thanks for the info! I hope the movie will help her song.

DarkWanderer 10th May 2005 08:56 AM

this is awesome!! hope she does have a new single before this one comes out :D

Hachimitsu 10th May 2005 09:57 AM

I can't wait to hear it!

kournikova 10th May 2005 10:07 AM

waw... so soon ^^ thx for the news

tinyppl 10th May 2005 10:10 AM

Shinobi sounds like a ninja movie to me. Oh well, it's okie to wait 4 months I guess. I actually prefer Ayu to release slowly, like 3-4 months a single.

LNany 10th May 2005 10:20 AM

Thanks all for the info! ^__^

CyberSpaceQueen 10th May 2005 10:36 AM

thank you very much about this info!
But it is very late. I think so too.
nevertheless I'm looking very forward to this single.

chpsv 10th May 2005 02:14 PM

I don't mind whether the single release late or not,
but just wishing her next single would recover with more remixes :cry

[ Melinda ] 10th May 2005 02:21 PM

Thanks for the info! That's really good news. I can't wait to hear more!

BanFan 10th May 2005 04:08 PM

Wow. That's a long time. I was expecting a summer single...

Fevenita 10th May 2005 05:02 PM

Hope there will be a single in the summer too... Can't wait! And thanks for the info ^^

DerrickRocks 10th May 2005 05:16 PM

Yeah about that Avex not treating her right? Ayu is already at the top of it all lol she really doesn't need much promotion anymore everyone knows exactly who she is. But her saying she was going to leave Avex with Max Matsuura, that may have had an effect you know he was the guy in charge of all her other singles the ones with tons of remixes and stuff. This ballad to be i doubt it would be produced by CREA probally by some other huge producer i hope it would be CREA,HAL and DAI that be hot!!!!

Kacper87 10th May 2005 05:20 PM

aww, i don't like these "classic" ballads
hope it'll be something like M or Free & easy

HanabiChick 10th May 2005 05:23 PM

Thanks for the info - this looks interesting.

evolusean 10th May 2005 07:41 PM

Translation of article

I read that article, and here's my translation.

Quote:

先月発売したシングル「STEP YOU/is this LOVE?」

Singer Hamasaki Ayumi (26) will be singing the theme song of the film "Shinobi" (dir: Shimoyama Ten). Managing the lyrics herself, she plans to have a magnificent ballad prepared to color the fated ninja-love painted by co-stars Nakama Yukie (25) and Odagiri Joe (29). As this is the first time Hamasaki has written a new theme song for a film, the song is drawing a lot of attention to be released this fall along with the film.

The songstress, whose single released last month "STEP you/is this LOVE?" continues to march up the charts, will be singing of star-crossed love for the big screen.

"Shinobi..." is a work which paints the tragic love of Ninja Iga (Nakama) and Ninja Kaga (Odagiri), who bear the fate of having to kill eachother despite falling in a destined love. The distributor, Matsutake, realized the lovecall, "We definitely wanted Miss Hamasaki, who expresses love in her own words, to sing the theme song."

Before now, Hamasaki has been behind the theme song for "Semi-double" (Fuji TV) as well as 5 other dramas; and although the album-track "Who..." was used as the theme song for the film "Tsuki" (2000), this is the first time she has written a new song just for a film's theme. Reading the work's scenario, she will write the lyrics herself.

She is currently selecting the composition, but according to those related, it is set to be a grand ballad. Matsutake expects that "because it's a work like that of a "modern Romeo & Juliet," a "Japanese Titanic," it will be a lovesong lasting through future generations like Celine Dion, who was responsible for the theme from Titanic." Hamasaki is also enthusiastic that she will, "do [her] best so that [she] can sing a theme that will last in everyone's heart, like the image of the film."

The single is set for sale this fall, along with the film's 17 September release. Like her previous fall-release hit ballads, "Dearest," "No way to say," etc., it seems, as she has gotten caught in the year-end award race, like it will be Hamasaki's greatest work.

----------------------------------

I'm excited!! I just hope by "grand ballad" they don't mean like "CAROLS". I hope it's a dramatic ballad like when BoA did "Uri" for Taegukgi. That song gives me chills!

Raleigh 10th May 2005 08:03 PM

Woah... thanks. I hope this ballad will be comparable to some gorgeous ballad like "Dearest" Seems Ayu is working hard on this one!

Ohhh hoo hoo wooahhh!! too excited :luv2

yaten 10th May 2005 09:52 PM

very very exciting news!

And i of course didn't expect a CREA composition at all - the composition will, however, probably be done by somebody very close to the MOVIE, not to ayu professionally. So i feel this will be very grand, powerful, yet different from things that we would normally hear from her.

hamayu 10th May 2005 11:37 PM

!i cant wait to hear it!><"

i hope its good..... it probobly will be!><

Larisa-chan 11th May 2005 12:57 AM

interesting, she's trying something new~~ I hope it'll be a good song :)

Calico 11th May 2005 01:55 AM

This is very exciting news! From how determined Ayu appears to be, and those working with her, this *should* be a song for the ages. As for the best of her career, that will be up for her fans to determine.

I think ballads are definetely Ayu's strong points, though I have yet to get STEP you out of my head. I think it'll be something dramatic like BoA's 'We', which I love. :D

Echiko 11th May 2005 06:26 AM

sunny 12th May 2005 09:11 AM

great to hear that she'll contribute her singing for a movie
it's a great way to make her noticable for those who haven't know her yet

(how pissed of i was to know that FFX-2's theme was sung by kumi koda, though still like the song....)
there're lots of gamer out there
and it'll be a great promotion to contribute a song for a game
the game she was ever contributed to is just "thousand arms"...

so glad to hear about this shinobi soundtrack stuff....

Deep snow 12th May 2005 03:44 PM

evolusean: i LOVE 'uri'! i never liked BoA this much [neither taekugki] but that song is a masterpiece, the BEST song in 'MyName'!

i hope the next single is good...

miracleofsuzaku 12th May 2005 10:30 PM

omg!!!it's like a dream come true...i love ninja-realated stuff and now Ayu will sing the theme song for this up-coming movie!!!

Moukyoumaru 13th May 2005 03:02 AM

I'm hoping (seemingly like a lot of people) for another song that's as good as M or Rainbow... Go ayu! Her ballads are always great =D

fantaisie.sign 13th May 2005 03:16 AM

How exciting! This quote, "Hamasaki is also enthusiastic that she will, 'do [her] best so that [she] can sing a theme that will last in everyone's heart, like the image of the film,'" assures me that the song will be awesome. :D

Brittany 13th May 2005 04:24 AM

I think it will sell a lot ~ ! Considering it's a ballad .. and many people <3 ballads. Well, at least I do :yes

Songs to movies always sell well :evillaugh
So it's a good idea that the people that made the movie want Ayu to sing it :yes

hiro 13th May 2005 06:15 AM

I find that Ayu's ballads are the worst. Can't she do a downtempo song without making it some sort of epic cheese ballad? She always comes out with one in the fall.

starr5245 13th May 2005 10:18 AM

sigh! zannen desune! I really want to hear a new Ayumi song!

Ibitsu Kokoro 14th May 2005 12:54 AM

We've heard what the movie people think about it ... but I wonder how ayu really feels being expected to create such a masterpeice. I mean ... she is still working on it ... so she must be somewhat stressed out.

well, sometime, stress and pressure makes the best works

ImpactBreaker 14th May 2005 03:27 AM

^Or not LOL When too much expectation is put into something sometimes it just ruins everything. Some great and very imaginative works can actually come from a casual idea.
I just want to point out that the fact that ayu is going to put a lot of effort into making it a great song is not a guarantee that the song will be necessarily something amazingly superior to her past works. There's always the chance that it might be a simple song, or just a usual ballad.

y2687 14th May 2005 03:31 AM

Must suck having to come up with good songs under a schedule. No wonder people aren't happy with her new releases as much as they used to be. :(

Exactly. :)

evolusean 14th May 2005 08:38 PM

I don't necessarily have high expectations, but I do at least expect somthing different. Based on the theme of the movie, it might be something traditional-Japanese-meets-rock-ballad or something. Surely it won't be just a typical song, there will be some sort of flair to it that sets it apart.

~Matt~ 15th May 2005 12:25 AM

thanks for the info ;)

*hearT_Place* 15th May 2005 12:27 AM

Thanks for the info. This is exciting!

Delirium-Zer0 15th May 2005 12:43 AM

From the news it sounds like alot of work and time is going into this... But I mean, one can tell from the credits of Voyage that it was supposed to be a magnum opus of sorts (that song probably had more individuals working on it than any single song in ayu's entire discography so far). But it just ended up cheesy really, compared to simpler ballads like SEASONS and Dearest. The lyrics were really the only good thing about Voyage (tsuki ni shizumu could have been a much better movie too, with such a sweet & creative concept. It just ended up being nonsensical and had way too many plot holes... it needed to be longer, i think). I'm not gonna lie and say I don't have high hopes for the song, but my expectations are pretty low. If it's really good and really creative, I'll be VERY happy with it and very pleasantly surprised.

thx for the news and translation. Wow, if it's something like Celine Dion's "My heart will go on", then I guess this would be her best single ever! Just hope that the track list wouldn't end up as Hikki's darekano single...

oohh! too excited!

Not sure about the traditional part, just let's wait and see

The movie opens on 17 September, so I guess the single will be released near that date.

Voyage sold very well despite the extremely weak Japanese market in the winter of 2002.

And I agree, I wish the movie was longer. Showing more of how Ayu ended up in the mental institution, and more of about her relation with Sonshin. I guess budget problems forced it to be short :eviltongu

*imagines a longer movie* that would have been cool !!!

ImpactBreaker 22nd May 2005 11:07 PM

Voyage wasn't cheesy imo. The instrumentals are really rich. It explains why so many people collaborated on the song.
