I think it sounds great, I can't wait to hear the whole recording. It reminds me of 'Replace' a little bit.

Very good, but not excellent. After watching the performance I started liking it more. It just filled me with happiness. I have been waiting for a really happy Ayu song like this for some time..

I like the beginning of the song the most, with the effects on her voice. The chorus is smiliar to Angel's Song..actually when I played it to my sister she said "this can't be new? I've heard it before!", and then she started humming the melody of Angel's Song..so it's smiliar alright. But anyways, it's good and I liike it! :)

I really like what I hear so far. Not a huge fan of the chorus, but the rest makes up for it. The techno is nice, and the song doesn't sound too cheerful in my opinion.

I really like this song. :) I like it better than her other recent really poppy songs like Grateful Days and Replace. I also like how it has a little of her rock edge mixed in in the middle. :)

The chorus reminds me of Angel's Song. :3 I hope the the PV will be just as good. Another hit in my opinion. The audience was pretty involved in the performance, which is a good sign since Japanese people usually just stand there. xD

The beginning reminds me of STEP you while the chorus reminds me of ANGEL'S SONG. The guitar bridge reminds me of UNITE! o.o;;

Fairyland is somthing like I am it was produced by Tasku and that was awesome because they did collaborate before in various projects a love since 1999 and others so this new album is a come back i don;t know where she was going with mystory but this time around she is here to clarify no one can take her down!!! ever!

It's an okay song. Nothing amazing and definitely not up to par with her earlier works.
I really, really dislike the part right before the first chorus where she goes 'itoshiku setsunai' and she just drags the 'i' on to fit the beat. -________- I think it sounds awkward.
And the way the first 2-3 words are sung of each chorus sounds just like one of the songs from her & single. I don't recall the exact name as I didn't really take to that single either but just listen to those songs and I'm sure you'll know what I'm talking about.

It's really Naturally-ish and Daybreak-ish and July 1st-ish though. Like sumefin' that fit into "I am..." album very well. It's also quite different from the music she used to do. I love the background music more! Especially, the openin' and the endin' ... :D

For once Ayu's summer song make meh wanna run to the beach! I dun't know! Hahaha... It's a really awesome to blast at the beach! :D

I think this is one of her best songs in a while after Moments. A bit of a return to her earlier style. :yes

The song itself is boring. I nearly slept through the actual performance. There are no distinguishing beats, the chorus is bad, and I dont really like the feel. I hate Greatful Days, but now that seems appealing compared to this song. This song seems bland and "just another pop song." Although, I really liked the beginning and the first verse. The chorus/main verse SUCKED. It did not fit with the original tune of the first verse (which was cool, I thought.) The instruments and guitar solos were bland and didn't have a distinguishable beat.

In other words, I want to hear alterna now.

OMG. I LOVE THIS SONG! :D I don't mean to say this just cause I like ayu or anything... But.. the beginning was kind of iffy, but as the song went on, it made me smile :D. I'm just glad she's released a new song of awesomeness<33

I think it sounds like Honey+July 1st+STEP you!! It's a great song and I love it!!

I really love the song. Everyone keeps saying it's so "cheerful" but it's really not. It's a summery-warm, fresh, clean, bittersweet midtempo song. Most of it is in a minor key, too, which you can't really call cheerful. The verse is very distant which definitely fits the nostalgic feel and lyrics of the song. The chorus is sweet, but not perky. I don't think it sounds anything like Replace. Replace was cheerful to a fault, it sounded like cheeseball anime music. :irked

I'm very pleasantly surprised with "fairyland". It's a track I know will be getting a lot of play time from me this summer.

I noticed that too! I was really hoping it would change there, musically. It does sound awkward, but the recording will hopefully sound a little better.

I'm translating the lyrics right now (Just need to finish downloading the video so I can check the subs and make sure my ears aren't decieving me). If the song has any fault, it might be the lyrics. They're not bad at all, just seem kind of average to me. She mentions "ano ko ya aitsu" again... That's 3 songs, isn't it? (immature & Heartplace, & now fairyland) I wonder who those two people are. She always refers to them when she sings about her youth and innocence.

I downloaded the performance. I was very disappointed with the song. I don't care for it much. Maybe if I had the actual single rip then maybe I might like it more. The beginning verse was interesting. The rest of the song was very boring and bland. I had so much expectation for this song too. Hmm =/... I hope alterna will be better.

My sincerest apologies for having an opinion and presenting my thoughts on it. Knowing that Ayumi hamasaki is perfect and must never be oppossed, it was my fault for not liking her song. of course you must like all her songs.

No, not really. I'd rather be the "this sucks blahblah whinewhine" example then the "AYUMIISGODWTFOMGSHEZTEHGREATEST!!!111111" mindless fan. If you simply skip over the posts with opinions (or generalize them as simply "this sucks"), well then thats your choice; but don't forget you're missing out on some good views here that are not dumbed down to your example.

I have never once said that she should stop composing because of one song, and neither has anyone else who didn't like it. and besides, i dont think ayu is weak enough to stop making songs entirely because of some opinions on her newer releases. So you don't have to "hope" of ayu still composing despite some opinions here and elsewhere. Otherwise, I wasn't aware of Ayu coming at an end to her career.

Sorry. But the freedom of speech and thought is guaranteed in my country; don't know about you.

ive only heard it once and gonna watch it aver again later but atm i think it's not as good as STEP you, the first part reminds me of STEP you , and i like it how tis song sounds very refreshing~~

It's okay, nothing special.

Well, I was just saying. Because ayu fans sometimes bash songs, comparing them to older things, and it's like 'wtf?.' I probably just have seen too much of the 'ew. I don't like this cause it sounds like __________' and that makes me >_O. Sorry about that!

I don't love of them, but.. most of the ones I don't like as much as others are the older songs she's done.. The lyrics though are all full of <3 and awesomeness :D

Song was ok, but it got kinda boring, and was kinda anti-climax especially given all the hype that surrounded it before we actually heard the song, I don't think it is as tuneful or as catchy as her other upbeat songs like step you (which I loved) or angel's song (which I loved too) or greatful days (which I loved too, albeit to a lesser degree).

Her backup vocalists need to go, and her band needs to be Heard, not Seen. The part in the performance where they all start dancing together in a row just looked Wrong, like hagged midlife crisis types having an orgy, or something.

This song needs to grow on me, I think. It sounds like a slower version of Angel's song mixed with Greatful days. I like it, but it's not what I expected for a song called "Fairyland".

Yeah, it's easy to say that it sounds like something she's done before. But tell me, how easy is it to make something completely new that noone has done before?

I loved this song... Although it sounded a bit like ANGEL'S SONG, I think it was very unique, both among her works and in jpop in general. I think that's what makes her such a great performer... Her songs are very distinguished and you know that it's Ayumi when you hear one of her songs. Just the special effects of the vocals, the instrumentals, are so beautifully composed and work so well together. Most other artists just sing some song with the guitar playing in the background and it gets kind of old.

I think this song will definitely make Ayu the queen of jpop again (if she ever wasn't o_O). It's one of her most unique pieces, one that I've been waiting for a LONG time. I mean, I'm obsessed with it now! I just love how it's not rock, yet its not too slow. I was always a fan of Ayu's non-rock, faster songs. And it's pretty unique, considering MY STORY and STEP YOU.

I also loved the way she performed in the live... She makes up for not dancing by performing very "classily" and she definitely looks like a veteran out there... OH YEAH, and her voice.. I'm not 100% if she sang it for real or not, but it sure sounded great for a live..

As you can see, I'm very impressed by this song.. lol.. Hopefully I'm not the only one @_@

You're right, but the first tones of refrain and mood of fairyland are absolutely identical with ANGELS SONG. I simply can't fall in love with something, what is very similar to another song. I don't say its bad song, I just don't like it much.

That's just probably because some Ayu fans just try to find all the possible errors in the song, all the bad sounds effects, lyrics that sounds "awkward", how it's too generic, too bland, how it doesn't fit the melody, or the lyrics, or the chorus and the verse doesn't fit, and the list goes on.

To me, if it sounds good. It's good. And I like it. I'm never gonna complain about awkward "ii"s.

Some people are also saying it's just another pop song... Well, what do you expect? She IS an pop artist after all.

An allright song not her best but a rather good song nonetheless. It'll have to grow onto a person after a few listens though so if Avex doesn't advertise this song a lot it won't really sell well but it's not as bad as some have been picturing it here. Definately a fresh feel from her rockish side and the techno feel is really fun.

I donno why there are so many negative comments onto this song but then everyone is entitled to have their own opinions onto this song. And you cannot please everyone but I really hope this single shall be successful.

There will always be someone out there to criticize something, trying to point out every little detail they didn't like, which is basically the whole song. They just don't have anyhting better to do lol :shrug

Music is art, and art is complete emotion, and emotion (like opinion) varies from person to person, time to time, place to place. I can't speak for others who share my sentiments, but I won't apologize for critiquing parts of the song. I think it's a great song, I've said that several times. I love it. But I guess I look at a song differently than you.

I'm a musician myself, so I'm a real stickler for details like awkward lyrics and funny pieces of arrangement. When I think things like that, I'm not bashing by any stretch of the imagination. I'm just noting their existence. Obviously if I've been listening to the clip on repeat ever since last night, my thinking "Ooh, if it was my song I would have done this and this and this..." doesn't mean I hate the song. Cos it's not my song, and I can completely appreciate it for what it is.

You can be a realist and still admire something as a valid expression.

So relax. Nobody here is out to destroy Ayu's career.

A final thought: Ever had a friend who fed you all the BS you wanted to hear about how hot you looked, only to find out you had a trail of TP from your shoe and a quarter stuck to your ass? A good friend doesn't let you walk around like that; they cut it to you straight, no matter how hard the truth might be to swallow. Give it a thinkfest.
