Anyone else here use Last.FM? I only just registered a couple of days ago, but I can already say it's all a music geek could ever hope for! I'm assuming there's some other AHS initiates who are on it as well - James (bulmasman) for instance, and there's probably others, too. In short, post the link to your Last.FM page here and eh, let's be friend and stuff. :D

Last Fm all the way :D I'm not a long time user too, I'm using it since about 1 month and an half. I can't stop looking at my charts, it's so cool :yes

i dont understand even after the online tour. is it a personalised online radio station that you can listen to whatever song you choose?

I'm not sure about the whole radio thing - the basic Last.FM function is that it keeps track of the music you listen to (MP3, OGG, etc.) on your computer. You just have to install the plug-in for that. The radio is supposed to be personalized though - but again, I'm not sure how it works exactly.

My profile

About the radio. It plays songs based on your own profile and your neighbours (people with similar music taste) profiles. So it's a great way to get to know new artists. Also if you don't like a particular song/artist you can ban it from your radio.

My avatar on Last.fm is a picture I took at their concert a couple of months ago.

BTW last time I checked, people were also developing plug-ins for portable audio players. I think there are already some experimental plug-ins for iPods.
Hopefully there will be a plug-in for my Mini-Disc someday, since I spend quite a lot time listening to it.

I have their 1st album! But I haven't touched it for a long while now! :laugh

I hope he doesn't mind me answering this - it's from one of the Idol On Stage performances Ayu did when she was younger. There's a bunch of them, like this one. Other songs she performed back then were Moon and Stranger In My Life - among others. If I'm not mistaken, these were performed in 1995 or so.

There's one thing about this that is not cool: Songs that have Japanese characters in the tags are not sent to Last.fm. And I have quite a few. :bsigh

This doesn't make much sense when they convert the 'Ayumi Hamasaki' in my mp3 tag to '浜崎あゆみ' on their website. :shrug

I have signed up and made a tribute to Akurei with it playing the songs she has on her computer. I even wrote a entry about her on it I have her Itunes shuffle songs

I think this is a good idea since she can't listen to the music I will play it for her like the beat goes on.

That's really strange! It shouldn't have a problem sending tags with Japanese characters in them. It works just fine for me in iTunes, but I had a problem with it in Winamp. What do you use?

Koda Kumi and Namie Amuro songs (yeah, I looked in her profile). Mostly Koda ones :P It's so nice of you doing this for her :yes You should put some songs from Koda's album "secret" and Namie Amuro's "Queen of Hip Pop". With songs from these magnificent albums I'm sure she'll be happy.

hmm, can i add songs from my winamp playlist instead of searching on the last fm player? their songs kinda suck...

If you play songs in your WinAMP, they show up in your statistics. So no need to listen to the Last.FM radios - I don't do so either.

Here is the default version if you want to use that.

Mine is a bit complicated because it's a customized signature. You can find more info about audioscrobbler sigs here. You need a basic understanding of PHP and a server which supports PHP to get most of those signatures working, though.

Hmmm.. Why doesnt Ayu's songs go into my charts? For example Vogue was by Unknown.. How to correct this?

^You must make sure your mp3s are tagged correctly.

how to tag them? I listen through Winamp..

Right-click a file in your playlist and pick "View file info..." Then fill in the correct info and update.

DUH FLIP DUH!!!!!

I want to amend my post to note that some songs with chinese and japanese tags are going through, while some aren't. Looks like it's a problem only with certain characters. :shrug

^ There's a v0.2 plugin available on the last.fm forums. It's still a beta, but maybe it will fix your problem.

yeah, initially I couldnt get Ayu's songs into it but after taking the plugins its now ok!

Could you explain that in more detail? Or do you mean only the players in which you've installed a last.fm plug-in. Because I've downloaded the last.fm player, but couldnt' figure out how to get it to actually open any files.

With last.fm player you can only listen to online radio stations. You can't open mp3s or so with it. More info http://www.last.fm/radio/.
It has some cool features, but eats a lot of bandwidth.

you can use the songs from your CD's provided that you rip them, then install the plug in.. you must also make sure of the details of the song..

EDIT: Okay, I'm confused here. I've installed the WinAmp audioscrobbler plugin, but none of my music is registering under my Last.FM profile. Then I gave the AHS Radio a listen, and those tracks did show up.

I thought the point of the plugin was to keep track of what you listened to of your own music. I'm kind of confused.

You have to view the "File Info" of the songs by right clicking on it. Then fill in the details such as album name, song name, and artist name.. And you have to listen to around 60% of the song before it goes into your account. I tried recording 10 seconds clip of random sounds and labelling them as "Ayumi Hamasaki- Rainbow" but it didnt work :D .. No cheating there, hehe..

music from my WMP doesnt register eventhough I've installed the plugin.. How can I change that? No wonder my music no longer registers, I only use WMP nowadays..

I have no idea. I use WinAmp, I'd recommend you use that anyway. WMP lags most computers horribly, so you may want to switch to WinAmp. ^^ Otherwise I wouldn't know, to be honest.

My WMP works fine with Last FM :rolleyes Many people forget to activate the plug-in. WMP often desactivates the plug-in if you don't close the player properly.

Anyone else having problems with songs registering? Sometimes half the songs I listen to don't show up.

Some of mine show up in the recently listened, but they don't seem to be updated to the other lists. Or some of the plays does, and some doesn't.

Are your tags correct? Mine weren't showing up for awhile. The problem was that the ones that wouldn't show didn't have ID3 tags.

Tags wasn't my problem though, I've double checked all the tags before I played anything new.

Well, it's weird cos sometimes it'll register me playing the mp3 and the next time I play the same song it doesn't :shrug

I've had that problem as well, e.g. MU had 20 plays last week (it was even in my top 10) and in my overall list it says MU had 13 plays. Weird. =/

Initally, my recently played list wouldn't show anything at times, but my overall lists were updated at the end. Right now everything is working perfectly apart from the MU example.

Maybe the FAQ can be of some help?
