Limited Edition Singles/Albums?
I'm really curious to know which singles and albums are either limited or first press and what are their extras. Anyone would be so kind to fill me in please?

I think "The Past and Other Side of Ayu" is really rare, cos they stopped making it over a lawsuit between labels.. It has Nothing From Nothing and the previously unreleased 3 remix singles.. I saw it in a nearby shop the other day but ended up purchasing Duty instead because Duty only cost a third of the price of that set.. Get it if you are a fan like me and you are rich!!

Daybreak (CDS) was in limited press I think. But I'm not sure..
Also, MY STORY and A BALLADS had different variants of the cover during first press and are no longer available. I don't know what else though. I only know that some Ayumi Vinyls are pretty rare like the 'M' vinyl 12" record which only has 350 copies floating around the world. =p EDIT: Also, Ayumi's Snow White video is very rare (http://www.eneabba.net/ayu/disco/vid...Snow_white.htm) and the "H" single has a limited version with all front cover variations too. Another thing, which I forgot, was that Ayu-mi-x II originally had a limited edition glittery case which includes a plastic back insert. :yes |

If you keep shopping on e-bay you are bound to find something. ^^ However, rare stuff can reach $200+ |
Nah I'm not that rich ^^; I'm most interested in the limited editions/first presses of the albums for now. Thank you for telling me about it though ^^

"Free & Easy" - First press has Ayu's face on the discart. - Regular press only has clouds on the discart. But the first press isn't all that rare, many people have the first press. "A BEST" - First press, slipcase + 6 variations on the inside cover. You can't choose which cover you want. "A Ballads" - First press, as with above, available in 4 variations. "MY STORY" - First press, 4 cover variations, but you can choose your choice of cover. "RAINBOW" - First press, password to preview instrumental of the un-released RAINBOW track at the time. "00. RAINBOW" is listed on the tracklist at the back. "I am..." - First press, extended OBI + slip allowing you to pre-order her tour tickets. Quite useless outside of Japan. "Ayu-mi-x II" - Glitter covers as mentioned. And the Japan version of LOVEppears includes bonus CMs on the CDExtra, such as her Honda CMs and Momoten Peach Water CMs from 1999. My OS Version doesn't have them, as with others. Although some people claim their OS version has those CMs, it appears to be inconsistent. |

I think it's the OS Version. Also I heard that OS Versions contain first press versions as regular versions. Is it true?

I don't know about that. But I think that has some truth.
I was going to buy MY STORY, but they had sold out. I also found out that the 4 cover variations had run out around the same time. D: But the next time they ordered some in, they had the variation version of the CD. O_o;; I wouldn't know since I dont have enough J-pop cds. ^^;; |

Yeah, agree with Mad Cactuar. Actually we seen it in the same shop!! I saw the price and I have to give up my breakfast and lunch for two weeks to purchase it!!

Also, any CDs that come with slipcases are released later with obi's instead. Ayu Trance is a funny case because appears "Armin van Buuren remix" becomes "Armin van Buuren's Rising Star remix", and the obi version of ayu-ro mix 2 has 2 versions with 2 different fonts, and both are of course lacking the "UNITE!" remix.
Alot of VHS releases also have first-press editions. A Film for XX a concert tour 2000 A 1&2 have clear inserts in the actual case so you can see the tape & booklet inside if you put it all in there correctly (and a colored cassette instead of a white one in all cases), Dome Tour 2001 A has a gold cover instead of the regular version's white cover. Oh, a clarification on the A stuff... there are TWO gold versions. One is just a gold-printed disc (and i thought THIS was the regular one as I ordered it from Tower Records and that's what I got, and it's alot easier to find pictures & auctions of it, but okay maybe the black one is the regular one *shrug* I've never seen anything official saying which one is). It has a gold-colored (okay, kinda tan) A on the obi. There's also a limited edition gold disc in which case the disc itself is actually gold, not silver. The front has a gold-toned picture of ayu and an embossed gold foil A on the obi. The different color versions have slightly different tracklists, too. Same songs, just in a different order. |

first presses also include bonus tracks, as mention before with ayu-ro-mix-2 having unite on the initial release, but not on the "regular" editions (i think so anyways). the same goes for a song is born on my story classical.
also, i believe that for the i am... and rainbow releases, with the purchase of these albums on the release day (or as supplies last...?), CDshops were including "gifts" with their purchase, such as towels and notebooks and such. i'm not sure about this, but i remember reading about it and seeing a RAINBOW towel. |

It depends if you wanna collect ayu's cds or you just wanna listen to the songs. If you're likely to collect all her singles, then you should probly buy it. It's a 300,000 limited edition afterall.

Didn't Duty also come with a poster? My Duty cd had a sticker in the wrapping that said something about one.

EDIT: I got unrar now. :P Anyway, it'll be nice to get CD Quality versions of those vocal tracks! If only we'd had them for that remix contest before. |

it was included inside the ayu-mi-x (remix club side)
no tracks we're included so it appears to be a bonus racks or bonus CD ^^ the cd is plain it's white and the font is gold colored ^^ it says ayu-mi-x "vocal side" blah blah blah >_< the copyrights are in it ^^ |

I got appears Promotion Copy CD, and it's unopened. It's the rarest of CDs I have ever. appears is limited copy,and the Promotion Copy is the rare. (Actually all Promotion Copy CDs are rare.)

i got some info about my ayu-mi-x vocal side cd! my cousin bought it at an arena tour concert in japan, he said he can't remember what year though probably it was the first ayutour when it was the a song for xx era ^^ it was sold in the concert ^^ and i have posted the pic of the cd ^^ it's the same of the orchestra side of ayu-mi-x though the difference is that orchestra was writed in vocal side the a was kanji ^^ |
Wasn't the first press of Free & Easy more common then the normal version sonce Free & Easy sold so little?

cyborg_kurochan, after seeing your picture and after skal's comments, I want to post loud & clear to you that no one here appreciates a liar. None of what you've said about the cd sounds truthful, and the picture you've provided is clearly small so we can't see detail; and anyone who takes the time to compare will see that it is simply the cd-scan from Divine Ayu rotated slightly. (And obviously a scan, not a photo.) After listening again to my backups of the vocal tracks from skal and these, these are definitely the same files. My advice to you would be to admit the lie, because there's no fooling alot of people here who have been doing research on ayu's releases for years. Me, nick from eneabba.net, skal, and divine fang would ALL be able to call you on this lie. You have to realize alot of ayu fans know each other & support each other, and you've managed to steal content from two people and make up an ayu release that can't get past people like me & other AHS staff without cold hard proof. (Admittedly sometimes i make mistakes, and say that a release isn't real, but after seeing real honest-to-goodness proof i'll admit i messed up. But the info you've provided is NOT proof, it's fabricated.) Please admit the lie and apologize for it; I, personally, am willing to forgive it (at least a little) because you went through the trouble of reuploading all those vocal tracks, and they were due for a reupload. But ONLY if you give credit to skal, where it is due for those, and give credit to divinefang for the scan of the Acoustic Orchestra side disc, and admit that you made it all up.
On topic again, it is funny that the Free & Easy "limited" pressing is easier to find. I've seen ONE "regular" pressing at yahoo! auctions japan. Interestingly, it uses the same cloud picture as the "limited" release, just ayu's not stuck onto the background. I've also heard that the Daybreak single was supposed to be "limited" to 300,000 copies, but didn't sell that many; either that or it was supposed to have the clear plastic obi up to that many copies, but since it didn't sell any higher than that, no one ever saw the regular paper version of the obi. I haven't seen any evidence of that (promo version with the paper obi or anything), but I do remember hearing something like that. |
Wasn't Daybreak limited to 300,000 copies because it was a recut single and wouldn't sell that much anyway? Like Appears (well, it wasn't released BEFORE the album...), kanariya, fly high ans SURREAL (same thing as the Appears single) were all "limited" because they weren't release before the album that they featured in and therefore would not sell a huge amount...

...back, okay, the discography page of ayu's A LIFE tour pamphlet tells you under the cd whenever a single was limited to 300,000 copies and it does NOT say that under "Daybreak". (Oddly, it says that the SURREAL single is limited, but not to 300,000. It doesn't give a number o_O) So i would imagine the paper obi thing is PROBABLY true then. Something as official as her tour pamphlet would say if it was limited, esp. if it says that the other limited cds are. |

Yeah, TeamAyu Tour Pamphlet says the same. I dunno, maybe after awhile they didn't think it was gonna sell any more so they just said "oh yeah, it's limited XD"

Pamphlets on sale from the tour... you can find them on ebay sometimes. I'm looking at page scans from ayumiss.ru though. And the pamphlet from 04-05 would probably have it, from what I've seen all the tour pamphlets have a discography page at the end.
