How is Ayumi copying Madonna?...
i know many people say that many times, but they give barely any examples of where/when/how/what Ayumi suppousedly copies from Madonna...
there was a thread about a band S.H.E copying Ayumi's PV "GAME" and one user posted examples of how is Ayumi copying Madonna -- but obviously i can't find that thread now... as of what i remember: "Happy Ending" from Arena Tour 2005 dress/performance is almost the same as in one of Madonna's tours "Ourselves" PV dress is v. similar to a dress in one of Madonna's clips "Dearest" PV concept is the same as in one of Madonna's clips. "Alterna" PV white Ayumi with an eye in her mouth is v. similar to Madonna's look in one of her clips. please correct me if i'm wrong in any of these above and explain if there are any more "copy acts" by Ayumi... |
When Ayu puts on the long black wig, she reminds me a bit of Madonna during her "Frozen" PV. But that's really vague, because anyone can wear a long black wig :D

As you can see, all these "Copying" threads that keep getting created on a daily basis are being merged into one or two threads to discourage their creation.
(The subject is getting rather old and often prompts angry exchanges). |

Anyway, I can see what is alike about the 2 concerts. But the other images? Ayu and Pam? Ayu and Kylie? Gees, it's just the same pose... Now we know how the Jolin fans feel right? |

Yeah, I always knew, but it doesn't bother me cuz I love both Madonna and Ayu, and Ayu is kinda like Madonna's remix, so it's refreshing, I dunno how to say it.

it's just a REALLY bias way of trying to prove things .. don't get me wrong as trying to bash on the thread ..
take for example: Ayumi's Walking Proud vs. Britney Toxic, we could easily take Ayu's Kanariya (which pre-dates Toxic a lot) as proof that Britney copied her if we wants to .. it's just one use colorful rocks while one use silver ... it seem that that author of those pictures just try to find similar clothings with same poses and since Madonna came out long long ago, most of her materials will pre-date Ayu for sure .. plus not to mention Madonna seems to use a lot of Japanese clothings, so Ayu will bound to run into them during her life of massive appearances ... |
I just realise how I love looking at such topics. It's really interesting to simply just look at the similarities. I do agree that ayu's stuff ain't totally original though the person who made the images got things abit too far with some pics that are just mere coincidental similar poses.
But it's cool in such a way that ayu or her designers are able to make the copied stuff look better. Quality work indeed. |

also Ayu & other celebs buy the same luxury brand clothes , so it's really likely the spot Ayu and some other celeb wearing the same dresses and etc. so I don't think that's copying. |

Ah... it's because one of Ayu's idols is Madonna... it's only natural for her to take some stuff that she sees from Madonna and incorperate it into her own stuff... ^^ Some of those pictures are a bit vauge, but others are dead on~ I can't believe how close some of that stuff is .... ^^

I mean come on now, any person can put together pictures to make someone look like a total copycat. A lot of artists can't completely come up with something on their own because there are so many people out there in the world and finding something truly original would be quite difficult. There is a difference between similarties and straight up copying.

I highly doubt though Ayu has copied all those things posted... think about it? Alot of those aren't very well known... and the ones that are.... who really thinks that Ayumi sits around and watches 'Crossroads' or Brit's Concerts.... or looks at nude pics of Pam Anderson??? She probably doesn't even know who she is... At this point in time, no one is original... a few things look like she may have taen them and made them into her own... the rest just look like some ayumi hater looked anywhere they could... If you looked that hard you could make MANY copy threads on all our favs... Like Utada, Koda, etc :p |

It's just something nobody can deny. Artists sometimes like what they see in other artists, so they use the image themselves. It's OK! Ayu's not the only one who does it, but it's really interesting to see who her inspirations are! Maybe we should listen to those artists.. we may like them, too!

Rofl. Some of these comparisons are so absurd. If anyone can spend this amount of time, they can make anyone look like they copied someone else. And considering how long music has existed, it isn't even surprising that coincidences happen. Plus, they are singers. That's the most important part.

Why would Ayu feel the need to copy other artists? Surely, these comparisons are just coincidences. Like someone said already, music and style have existed for a long time, surely, somethings repeat themselves. So if I started wearing a cancer wristband, would I be copying someone else?

Thatsa really funny! Ye-a..according to the images, Ayu is NO INDIVIDUAL, only a copying machine, and I find it quite strange for Ayumi. And some pics of "copying" are just rediculous! I mean, okie for the military costume, but about "ourselves" and die another day-the PVs have different themes, and some people are holding Madonna, and no people are holding Ayu! That is the big difference..
Poses-the are typical, for every singer. No matter what, evryone has the same poses if comparing to other artists. We can compare Aguilera and Britney that way too... Ayu can't be just copyibng machine, I don't belive it! |

Many of those pics are completely stupid. As if Madonna's "Don't tell me" and Ayu's "Daybreak" PVs are the same. They aren't at all and a person has to be on crack to think otherwise. Also, the majority of the clothes Ayu "copied" from other people barely even look like what the other person was wearing. HOLY COW, Madonna wore a plaid miniskirt and Ayu wore a plaid miniskirt, well gee I've seen at least 5 people in the last week wearing plaid miniskirts too...it's called punk fashion--contrary to what you may think, more than one person wears the same style of clothes....that's why the racks at clothing stores are full.
As for poses, jeebus, there are only so many ways the human body can move. Some poses just look good and that's why you see them over and over in fashion magazines and the like. Anybody can take a screenshot, which is less than one second out of a video, and juxtapose it with another screenshot to make them look identical. But don't forget that those videos are much longer than one second. Brittney Spear's "Boys" and "Inspire" are totally different, and so are the clothes both singers are wearing. I highly doubt Ayu copied Aphex Twin. Even the screenshots look disimilar. I usually don't care about these threads but most of those comparisons are just too lame to even tolerate. |

It's lame to see such close minded people. Someone posted they wore the same shirt as their friend and its copying (yes, sarcasm). Hi. Where were you when Jolin wore the same dress Ayumi did? Didn't read about how she was copying her fashion? As usual you all jump on the bandwagon of defending Ayumi by stating this is just coincidence. If that were true couldn't it be coincidence that someone wore the same thing that Ayu has? It's pathetic to associate with this forum when topics come up like this. Screw the 'ignore it' comments. If these weren't posted so much then there wouldn't be a problem. I wish you would all get over yourselves and leave other artists alone and stick to saying how 'kawaii' Ayu is. anywayz, i'd like to thank those who posted described comparison pics in this thread -- becouse that's what i really wanted to see. the purpose of this thread wasn't have people here arguing on how much Ayu is nor isn't a copycat or how much other artists are or not. it's just that recently so many "XXX copies XXX" threads appeared on various forums, i thought that i would be good to dig deeper and see what this copying is really like. it's just interesting for me to see who and how Ayumi based on, it gives a lot bigger view on things. :) |

It's really fascinating, is Ayumi really copying Madonna? Or is it just PURE coincedince (sp)? Either way, I think Ayumi suits the style of whatever she's supposedly copying much better :p Some simply have the illusion of looking the same but doesn't have the ASPECT of it. I like these copying things...it's true to the fact that it's copied, but say...it's umm, what's that word...TWO DIFFERENT FREAKING COUNTRIES...you get inspiration for each different person. Copying from the same continent is really awkward. I dunno but it's copy to me somewhat. But it's like saying in a Japanese Vs. US Dub Adaptation. I'd say half of thsoe things are OBVIOUSLY copied, like the outfit from britney's movie and ayu's concert (it's the same exact ****, lol), or the ourselves theme, that theme was taken from fighter no doubt about it, but the other stuff are just common things used in music videos, concerts, photoshoots, i.e. the heaven cover, that's a regular pic, almost all artists in the world have had such a picture, another example would be a lot of the madonna outfits, i mean if madonna's her idol it's expected of ayu to copy some stuff from madge.
Edit: Plus, the asian look belongs to asian people, not madonna, lol. also, the cowboy look has been done more than a million times. that's my 2 cents. |
