Pride - what do u think about this song?
 

Well... we all waited for preview of Pride - now it's available at Avex site from few hours. There where so many thoughts what type of song Pride will be and now everything is clear - it's ballad :P

I wonder what's r ur first feelings about this track? Do u feel disappointed that it's not another fast rock song?

I must say I supposed to Pride will be rockish song but I don't feel disappointing. I like sad arrangement of this song from first listening and I think it will be my fave ballad of this year :yes

From what I've heard so far, I like B&D better than Pride. Like Ayu_desu said, Pride is a bit like the song Tokyo, which she performed at Music Fair. I never liked that song, and I hope Pride won't be too much like it. But I've only heard 30 seconds of it yet, maybe I'll like it better when I hear the full song. :)

i figured Pride would be a ballad...and i'm happy it is as i miss ayumi's ballads...even though i also love her fast rockish songs. anyhow, i like it, i'm anxious to hear the full version. i think it sounds quite sad, which is a good thing i think. also, i thought the beginning reminded me of that old song "unchained melody" haha. :)

I kind of like it. It's not that bad. Just ditch the chorus for the album or next single please. We've heard you with choruses, now we can move on. lol. But it's not that bad. I like it, but for all we know, it might be a first recording just for the site and Panasonic, so who knows?

I love this. I prefet this ALOT more thsn B&D there is something.. depressing and sadnnening about it. which sends chills down my back.. the choir in the back.. is really eerie O.o

I don't really know... It's a ballad. Sure it sounds good but... well, I just think ballads are a bit boring (with exception of Rainbow). I hoped it to be something upbeat. It seems that I'll like Bold & Delicious more.

I must confess I don't like ballad songs much because I can't listening them over and over because I'm boring fast. However I suppose to Pride will be better than HEAVEN and Will - of course I'll could say more when full song will be released - maybe after that I'll change my mind :rolleyes

Pride sounds pretty much Carols style. It reminds me as some fans pointed out "Once upon a December". Rather winter style and soothing. I have to listen to the whole thing to judge though. Don't think it will be better than HEAVEN though.

It sounds very old fashioned, like a christmas carol, or like a "continuation" down the path of will. I won't judge it too hard before I hear the whole thing though. Can't say I am too excited after the preview.

I like it. I thought it was going to be a rockish song or a ballad, so I'm quite happy with that. I prefer the backing singers in this, because they're not screaming over Ayu and everything else :yes Sounds quite nice, looking forward to hearing the full track.

The preview sounded very interesting. A slow and sad ballad I would say and I kind of like those. =P I liked it better than the preview of Bold and Beautiful, because in my opinion that song didn't sounded much like Ayumi's style. Perhaps it will get better once the full song is released.

I'll probably like B&D better than Pride. I'm not a ballad fan in general, and I think 'nice but not special' is what I'll feel about Pride.

I love the tune but... really... her vocals go horribly with this song. She uses her Bold & Delicous vocals for it?! I'm really glad atleast I love Bold & Delicous, because I don't think I can stand her voice for this type of song... HEAVEN is the ballad for this year for me :)

It's a funeral song! When somebody close to me will die I will listen to that song! This single is a disaster (and some time ago i was the one who would worship anything ayu releases)... thanks to this song "B&D" seems a lot better... ehhh... ayu... don't release this single...

Like "B&D", I'm loving it. Mostly because it sounds like a mix of "Free & Easy" and "End roll". A dark ballad. And it sounds G-R-E-A-T. I'm having really high hopes for this new single!!! Everything is so different and definitely awesome!! XD


I wasn't expecting a rock song and I'm kinda glad it isn't one.

So far it sounds decent... I'm not blown away by it, but I really need to hear more than 30 sec with this one~ at least it doesn't sound like B&D >.>

I really like Pride, it's so rare to hear an Ayu song in minor.

I don't think B&D/Pride are terrific songs but hey at least they add some variety to the album instead of the usual pop/rock/ballad mix.

I personally like both songs, as they are different from the other singles and (hopefully) nice additions to the album. Ayu is showing more sides of her music and style to us, NeoDayDream was right in saying it's like a musical. The album is turning out to be like a soundtrack or something lol :) . As for "Pride" the song reminds me of Forgiveness, which is a good thing. I'm wondering if CREA arranged this herself or no...

I must agree with that B&D is tasteless - at least preview. Choir part doesn't fit to the rest of track and generally arrangement is crummy :rolleyes

However I see most of AHS members like B&D more than Pride. I've noticed also that so many ppls here don't like ballads much :eyebrow (and I though I'm the only one :thud)

Because of 2 so different songs this single surely will be interesting. Release of single like B&D is adventure because single promoting "new style" song + ballad after last single which contained 2 ballad songs included isn't good move. Sale of HEAVEN was low and it was obvious from the beginning because ballad singles always have worse sale than singles with mid tempo tracks and up-beat songs. Releasing of mix-single after ballad single could be finished defeat and if it'll be so then it will influence unprofitable on album sale. But probably Avex count new single will be big success so we must wait and see what will be next :innocent

I think it's the funniest how people people blow everything out of proportion whenever someone doesn't like something Ayu. OMFG BLASPHEMY!! :laugh

I'm not really sure what I think of both the songs but I'm not exactly impressed with them. Maybe my opinions will change once I hear the full version...

I remember I was the same way with CAROLS and now I really enjoy it.

It sounds typical for a ballads with flats/sharps, but meh, maybe the full version'll be better [it better be! i preordered it! XDD;;]

"LOVE" isn't a powerful enough word to describe how much i love this song so far.

myself, i like this single (from what i've heard) much more than the past two. i was disappointed with both fairyland and heaven in a way. i like this because she's gone in a new direction.

Pride is okay for me. I have hard time to judge this one with the B&D 30 sec preview. So I guess I have to wait till the full ver come out. So far I like B& D better. I never expect, her to sing gospel style music.

It sounded very Christmas-like to me. The first part reminded me of "Ave Maria", actually. I really love it. I think it's superior to BOLD & DELICIOUS. It's my kinda song.

Hmm... I'm confused. I want to offer an opinion, but I think these songs are so different from her usual style that I need to hear the whole song first.

I like it alot..in fact I'm a big ayu-rock fan..her ballad only comes second but
Pride is different...really sorrow sounding and dark...like she is singing for someone she love *died* ...I can just imagine the pv..of ayu in a hospital or somewhere sad
and I don't mind that rather the song is a ballad or rock/upbeat at all...as long is better than B&D then I'm fine ..no complain from meh :D

Personally I like B&D much better than Pride. Pride is kind of boring, I mean, I don't even remember how it goes. It's just a generic ballad, and some said it's the same thing as a song from Anastasia.

I like it a lot better than Bold & Delicious, but it doesn't sound like anything great. It seems boring, or like something I've heard a hundred times by other artists :/ The full thing may be better... I'll have to wait and see.

"Bold & Delicious" still ROCKS. "Pride" does sound amazingly a lot like "Tokyo"... which wasn't exactly my favorite cover track. However I am sure I'll grow to enjoy it... plus this is only a short preview.

I still REALLY LOVE "Bold & Delicious", it's way above "Bland & Tasteless" because's it's got funk and energy. Gawd I can't wait for this single!! "alterna" however is still my favorite of her coupling tracks, that song just plain rocks.

Pride has a nice tune however the vocal sounds a bit too low and dull to suit the song. Also it sounds lyk songs hitomi shimatani sings.

And this is her 4th single this year which have drastically different side dishes! Bold And Delicious and Pride are total opposites too! Just like all the others! Which means the new album will be full of everything for everybody! ^^ I love all her singles this year!

a few notes well~ the tune is like...EXCATLY THE SAME as Gackt's Hoshi no Suna XD...with about 3 notes differences?! XD

...the part where she goes "hito kimushi nani mo na baka ni mo... (from hearing)", the first 3 bars of the chorus EXCALTY the SAME as the first few 3 bars of Hoshi No Suna, the piano part XD Even if Gackt's one is only use like twice or three times and was not a "main tune" XD

I totally agree! For example, I loved Fairyland/Alterna -single, but wasn't too fond of HEAVEN/Will (Will is okay, but I find HEAVEN boring, although it's lyrics are great). As you said, it's everything for everybody!

Oh, and a side note: I've really started to like Bold & Delicious now. Way more than Pride.

Huh? Rushed? Not at all. Her new album was beautifully made with a lot of ethereal tracks. It's actually one of my favourite albums to date.

Bold And Delicious is anything but bland or tasteless. Its more shocking than bland, thats where her fans are divided, the shock factor.. ^^
