The Saddest PV Discussion

okay, we saw the Scariest PV Discussion, and there, alterna and ourselves pretty much are at the top...but what about the saddest PVs?

i have no clue...maybe Hanabi Episode II, or Voyage? there has to be sadder ones though...

walking proud 7th December 2005 03:37 AM

Um...

HEAVEN was pretty damn sad because of the lyrics.
ENDLESS SORROW was kind of depressing until the end.

Ayu_desu 7th December 2005 04:17 AM

HANABI ~episode II~
HEAVEN

~*Mabushii*~ 7th December 2005 04:37 AM

I think Free & Easy is one of the saddest for me..
yea.. and HANABI ~Episode II~ ...
I can't even sing the song karaoke style without crying!

fεяnαndδ 7th December 2005 04:49 AM

HANABI ~episode II~. She really showed emotion in that video IMO.

I reckon Because of You was a little sad at parts, like the part where Peco (or was it Princess?) shoves the roses back in that guy's chest, shoves him out, locks the door, sits down and stares at a rose. >.> That technically wasn't Ayu, that was one of her "Sidekicks", but the whole concept was rather sad.

I haven't really seen THAT many PVs to judge, but yeah.

Oh, by the way, this is ENTIRELY off-topic, but did anyone get the whole concept of Connected? I mean, I was a little weirded out. Is the city in danger and a bunch of teens are trying to save it? It made my head hurt, even though it was a pretty awesome PV. :faint

DA1SUK1DAY01691 7th December 2005 04:52 AM

HANABI ~Episode II~

That was sad. I can look like i'm really sad singing it. lol.

hopeorpain 7th December 2005 05:14 AM

hanabi episode II is not sad...Ayu is seemingly crying for no reason

Pride just made me feel like she was desperate for another ending and depressed in the PV.

Qt Mashi 7th December 2005 08:14 AM

i think free & easy is prety sad

i dont find Hanabi~episode II~ sad because it looked so fake to me lol

oh yeah Dearest was REALLI sad, i always thought the PV was boring so never paid a close attention to it but i watched it the other day andit was relli sad~

Keishi 7th December 2005 09:02 AM

HANABI ~episode II~
TO BE
forgiveness

I believe I ever shared my tears with these vids...

ruixiong89 7th December 2005 09:54 AM

Saddest PV, well, there are various categories of sadness for me ...

"PURE" Sadness: HANABI ~episode II~ (But the all time SADDEST PV for me is still Lindsay Lohan's Confessions of a Broken Heart. That was just OMG!)

"PITY" Sadness: WHATEVER (the trapped angel), alterna (the mannequin Ayu)

"FAKE/ACT" Sadness: PRIDE, HEAVEN, Voyage (just lacks realism I suppose)

"MELLOW" Sadness: Moments, Free & Easy, Endless Sorrow (This is basically the category that has very VERY small tinges of sadness present)

So all time saddest Ayu PV? Still goes to HANABI ~episode II~

Sweer 7th December 2005 10:03 AM

HANABI ~epsisode II~ and forgiveness for me

though I didnt like that last part in the HANABI ~episode II~ PV when Ayu was playing the guitar. that looked strange to me

Moments? Oh, yeah... I found it pretty sad when there was the fallen angel Ayu (that is if she was an angel to begin with; she had feathers all over her and around her and she was lying in a pool of blood).

Keishi 7th December 2005 10:24 AM

^blood? Isn't that supposed to be oil?

fεяnαndδ 7th December 2005 11:32 AM

Oil? Eh, perhaps... I didn't really put much thought into that PV. The colour of my computer screen probably made it look like it was blood, though I agree, it could very well be oil. It'd make a lot more sense if it was blood, though.

walking proud 7th December 2005 12:20 PM

I didn't think HANABI was sad at all because of the cheesy fake crying

fεяnαndδ 7th December 2005 12:29 PM

It didn't look fake to me. She looked frusterated and trapped in a world she didn't want to be in, and just wanted a way out, so she was really stressed and shocked. That's what I thought, anyway. :\

Neo Daydream 7th December 2005 02:12 PM

Pride
Hanabi ~episode II~

those are the saddest!

HANABI is suppose to be depressing.
think of all the song titles with HANABI in it... example: 'Kingyo Hanabi'

lotusoka 7th December 2005 03:54 PM

Dearest

Yarumi 7th December 2005 04:01 PM

Hmm, Hanabi II was a good PV and I appreciated her attepmt at crying... but it wasn't all that sad to me... even with her emotion... well lets just say it wasn't as powerful as others...

I thought Dearest was sad when I first saw it.
Because of you was very sad when you think about the situation...
Heaven was sad because of the lyrics... kinda plain PV though

Eh. Must be a conspiracy. "Hanabi" translates to "fireworks," so there's not really anything special about it...

Yarumi 7th December 2005 04:31 PM

who's Kingyo Hanabi?

dulceku 7th December 2005 07:51 PM

HANABI ~episode II~
my favourite song

Japanese people find that fireworks are sad and nostalgic...
It may make them think about past relationships... etc.

ohsixthirty 7th December 2005 08:24 PM

What about CAROLS? That one was pretty sad I thought. And Hanabi ~Ep II~ is def. up there too.

[AHS]MortalSex 7th December 2005 08:34 PM

hmm letīs see either Daybreak, Heaven or Dearest =)

Kingyo Hanabi is a song by Ai Otsuka. It translates into English as "Goldish Fireworks."

Really, Ayu_desu? They find them nostalgic? I'll be deep in thought when I see fireworks at the beach on New Years Eve. :P

~*Mabushii*~ 7th December 2005 08:43 PM

Don't fireworks remind Japanese of the war..? and it makes them sad ?
.. I dunno..
as for the Moments..
I always thought it was Tar and feathers.. o.O;;

Delirium-Zer0 7th December 2005 08:46 PM

Yeah it's Tar & Feathers. Being tarred & feathered means being humiliated.

WHATEVER is the saddest PV for me. I mean, first the angel feels the church's pain, remembering when it got burned down by feeling it, and then finds the one beautiful thing left in the ruins, and gets trapped & dies trying to reach it. That's so freaking sad! :(

~*Mabushii*~ 7th December 2005 08:48 PM

Ohh.. so thats the point of the WHATEVER PV?.. o.O;; I've never really gotten it..
I know my 2 year old loves the song though.. she calls it "Woah woah".. since that's how it starts.. even though its really "Wow".. but Ayu says it "woah"

Delirium-Zer0 7th December 2005 08:57 PM

yeah, "Whoa" has always been written in japanese lyrics as "wow"... ayu, b'z, boa... everyone has it written like that. i have no idea why. While we're on the subject why does Namie pronounce "Wo" as "ooh" in "WoWa"?

Anyway, yeah, WHATEVER is one of those PVs where you gotta watch the non-ayu parts to get it. But yeah it's really sad o_o

Alterna's pretty sad too... reminds me of the old Stepford Wives. What hit me and got me crying was actually when they cut to "The Stage of Brightness"... i hadn't seen caps or anything yet, and I didn't know what really happened in the PV so it took me by surprise. It's really upsetting. :(

starr5245 8th December 2005 01:55 AM

HEAVEN and Endless sorrow are high on my list!

Ayumi no Yume 8th December 2005 02:10 AM

Yeah...I think WHATEVER was pretty sad.
The angel died at the end, and Ayu was trapped in a cage - A Sign that she - as a bird, loosing freedom would die too?

And For my Dear... was pretty sad :(
I looooooooooove that PV.

But if i were to talk about the saddest thing/movie/show/PV ayu has ever been in, i'd be tsuki ni shizumu, of course.
But i think Voyage PV kinda killed the saddness.

emi♡ 8th December 2005 02:34 AM

I had forgotten about Dearest...I also think of alterna as sad...once i got over the clowns...

fεяnαndδ 8th December 2005 08:43 AM

alterna was both frightening and saddening.

SunshineSlayer 8th December 2005 09:08 AM

Free & Easy.

Also, Rainbow strikes me as sad. The song itself is about accepting and getting over pain so it's actually a hopeful song, but the video always seems to have this veil of sadness over it until the very end.

kournikova 8th December 2005 09:22 AM

all ayu pv cant beat HANABI ~episode II~ hahahahahhaa my all time fav ballads ;P and all time favorite vclip for ayu..... the emotion... so natural ^^

Keishi 8th December 2005 09:36 AM

the whole crying scene makes it look just fake....but that's able to make the viewers feel the same emotion....it would be fun to watch the making-off....when the director say, "CUT!" she would be like, "YAY! finally it finished!!" with happy face and laugh wiith other crews....and definetely disappoint all viewers...I guess that's why no making offs included in Memo Add DVD...

i always thought it was like the ruins after a war or something...

Lumix 8th December 2005 02:46 PM

for me its walking proud. i really dislike this pv - for me this is the scariest and saddest and everything. I could be OK if I didn't get the meaning some time ago!

fεяnαndδ 8th December 2005 03:05 PM

Hmmn? What was walking proud about?

Love Appears 8th December 2005 04:29 PM

Well, the setting of of walking proud was basically this "artificial" world that was all controlled by a switch. Everyone was basically a robot. Ayu stands in the middle of this world... we learn that deep under the ground is an incarnation of Ayu which some speculate is the "real/human" Ayu, beautiful yet fragile. There is a little broadcast screen built into the tree that shows the Ayu under the earth singing her song.

I think the end of this PV is the most disturbing, the first time you watch it at least. It's a very difficult PV to explain because it's so strange.

Hanazaki 8th December 2005 05:13 PM

Probably Heaven.

But I get affected by the song a lot, e.g watching 'appears' make me feel sad, but it's more because of the lyrics, and seeing her sing it out makes me get all emotional, even the setting of the PV isn't _that_ sad. (Carols and No Way to Say are other examples)

Cyria 8th December 2005 08:54 PM

HANABI ~episode II~. It's so emotional, dark and simple. Really fits the lyrics, IMO.

Nu-NRG 9th December 2005 02:11 AM

SEASONS
I think the overall atmosphere seems depressing...and how ayu dressed up as if she would go to funeral

chibi_sunny 10th December 2005 09:03 PM

Moments for me!! I almost cried when I saw her in the (fake) blood and feathers. Hanabi would also be sad if it had a PV.

norain 10th December 2005 09:43 PM

Dearest

TO BE? I don't understand how it could be sad. The lyrics probably (my favorite ones), but the PV itself just isn't.

I thought forgiveness was happy.

Sad is probably HEAVEN or WHATEVER. And if NEVER EVER counts, then that one too.

liechin 12th December 2005 09:45 AM

Hanabi Episode II

ruixiong89 12th December 2005 12:23 PM

Ok, now HEAVEN ranks as my all time sad song ... Just recapped the PV ... the scene of the souls boarding the train ... that's just SO SAD! And with Ayu left behind! Extremely symbolic PV! And kickass chorus and lyrics!

Chibi_Venus 14th December 2005 05:23 PM

:roflmao Sorry, I found that really funny! XD

HANABI ~episode II~ is sad. What's funny is that when I'm crying or sad (this sometimes happens in family situations), I start thinking of the PV and get the part stuck in my head: "kono omoi yo sora e uchiagari hanabi no you ni utsukushiku chire" *cries* Then I just start crying even more!

I guess Dearest is sad. I mean, I guess the part of the song "Ah~ deatta ..." yadda yadda just hits that strong, emotional part of the song for me, so I guess when I watch the PV (original, not acoustic) it hits me.

I don't cry at it, but when you watch the PV, I mean really watch and get behind the meaning, Free & Easy is sad. I'm looking through PVs at the moment to decide which is sad, and Free & Easy is pretty emotional.

Voyage. True love. It's not really "depressing" sad *can't find the word* but it's like a "romance movie" sad I guess. When Ayu as the paitent is walking in the water and crying, and the man hugs her, I find that so sweet.

And finally, HEAVEN. Oh, my goodness I cried when I first watched it. I don't think there's anymore to be said.

On the subject of fireworks, I cry when I see them. Well, not everytime, but when I see the nighttime fireworks show at Magic Kingdom, called Wishes, I cry every single time. I guarentee. Disney music makes me cry a lot because it's just so beautiful to me. I swear that if you went to Magic Kingdom with me and we saw Wishes, bring your tissues! lol

kendelle 14th December 2005 10:36 PM

I'd have to say Endless Sorrow. This is the only PV that I have cried during watching it, thinking about the supression of the people in that society, who were only freed when the little boy climbed the tower. I was so nervous for him as he was clibming!

My Chinese teacher explained that sometimes, if you are like... making an "oooo" sound (oo as in BOO), it will never be spelled that way. That would just be kinda like ohhhh. When I was learning the pinyin (romanized chinese alphabet) uo sounds like a w-o sound, but not like Whoa.. more like a wuh. Maybe it's sort of similar with Japanese? Maybe the sounds in japanese have common spellings like this with certain sounds that they screw things around XD?

Just an idea I had, except..
I don't know what I'm talking about.

superdonut 15th December 2005 07:01 AM

Saddest PV's? I think HANABI ~Episode II~ and Because of You are quite sad.... ^^; But the one that makes me the most emotional (not really sad) is Endless Sorrow... the PV was so touching, and the song is so wonderful... it makes me want to cry, although I'm not sad... what a weird way to describe it ^^;
