Ayu's next move...greatest hits #2?
 

I think ayu's next move should be a greatest hits #2. First off I think the first was way too soon but didn't they think her carrer was ending or something. Anyway ayu needs a break...she just released an album and now Startin the new single is comming out. Does this woman take time to breathe? I think if shes gonna do anything it should be a second greatest hits.

It might be a good move to release a greatest hits #2/#3 at this point...a lot of time has passed since A Best and A Ballads. Hmm...guess we'll see what happens ^^;

nah, bad move! i don't want an a best 2. BUT, i would love a new collection like a ballads...like...she could call it a rock and it could be full or her rock classics and remakes of old songs into rock style. :yes

i doubt a new greatest hits. She dident want to do the 1st and i doubt she would want to do another one while she is in her prime

well since koda kumi new album "best-second session-" is going to be release the same day as ayu new single Startin'.. this new single probably wont be like a mash hit... but i think it would be pretty smart of ayu to release a second best album.. prolly after her 40th single cuz i think that now thats the only way for ayu to beat Koda kumi in cd sales.. if not ayu will no longer be j-pop queen...

I was thinking of a A ROCK album too a few days ago! :P I'd jsut totally love it. A BALLADS was such a good compilation (with all the changes and few tracks). I was to see a pop/rock version of it :D

A Rock sounds cool. I'd like to see more songs getting a new version, not a real remix but a new version, like A Song for XX on the A Ballads album. That one was great.

another BEST album.. hmmn.. let's see.. Last time she released 3 albums before A BEST's release.. then 2 albums before A BALLADS's release.. Now she has 1 mini + 2 full length albums... The songs that can be put into the second BEST so far is: evolution, NEVER EVER, Endless sorrow, UNITE!, Daybreak, Free & Easy, independent, ourselves, Greatful Days, HANABI~episode II~, forgiveness, No way to say, Moments, INSPIRE, GAME, Carols, STEP you, is this LOVE?, fairyland, HEAVEN, B&D, Pride, Startin', Born to be... so 24 songs may possibly be in this one. She may put Dearest and Voyage inside as well (but it's already in A BALLADS). She may also put my name's WOMEN inside since this one was the most wanted album song in MY STORY.. also alterna considering it has a pv...

That means she has enough materials to make another BEST. Personally I wanna see a remix album tho.. esp. AO version. I love her second and third AO albums because the music is good and she resang the songs. :D

I think for ayu anytime is the time!! If she really wants to release a second best album I'm sure she would pull it off. I really do think that ayu can pull off anything when she really wants to do it!

NO WAY! It think this is a terrible time to release a BEST album, mainly because everyone else in the Japanese music scene is doing so recently! I think Ayu should release another BEST album when nobody is expecting it!

I ADORE THE REMIX ALBUMS! My favorite are the trance ones but I also like the Eurobeat ones too. I have all trance albums and the 3rd eurobeat one. Just downloaded the 2nd eurobeat one yesterday. However, I don't know if another remix album with come around... I just recently looked at the sales for the last editions and they were TERRIBLE! I can't even believe it cuz the Trance and Eurobeat ones are SO GOOD!

hmmn.. how about a BEST album at the end of this year then?? i believe by then no one will expect for ayu's BEST album :D haha

OR maybe she can release a few more singles, then the BEST2 next year March :D

She DOES need a break. That doesn't mean she needs to have a greatest hits album come out first.

If she Released another A Best album. Im going to be annoyed because alot of people are going to go "Oh My God Ayumi's going to Retire and leave Music." And then next "Who is going to replace her"

the jpop queen isnt based on recent sales, its the fact that she influenced young femals and the fact that she has had like all her studio albums hit number 1 and that she is still going strong considering all her singles are reaching number 1. kumi just became REALLY popular, she wont be the queen unless she outsells ayu's sales completely

oh about the JPop Queen. I think it actually exists (well... I heard from my dad and uncle.. Hopefully it's not fake). When the emperor of Japan died, the media will choose the songtress (or jpop queen) of that era. Momoe Yamaguchi was chosen as the last era's JPop queen. When hikki came out in the beginning, she was called the JPop Queen of this era. Now I dunno if she's still holding this title, PLUS the emperor hasn't died yet so they can't just name someone at this moment rite??

umm. no, to me that would b pretty ptless for her to release a best album just because (m)u cant reach a million. she (or avex) should just hire better ppl to write better songs for her.

um.. she writes her own songs already.. unless you mean compose.. and she already has many amazing composers, including herself.. I think Ayu should compose more of her music... her compositions are some of her best songs, like evolution, UNITE!, endless sorrow, M, and the list just goes on...

I think the title of "Jpop Queen" isn't really official. People just like to label who is "best" or not, which is usually very subjective.

I think her first A BEST should have been released later, but now is definitely a good time since she has so much good music after A BEST. And yes a good time for a break too~!

Yes, it does. It's usual for japonese artists to release best albums when the sales are going down, really usual. Or when they're in their peaks. Ayu already released one while in her peak.

They do this because a best album is a good way to put the person back on the spotlight because sales of best albums are usually better than the last album (like BoA with L&H and then Best of Soul).

It's not always like that, but I think it's possible, because AVEX always think in moves like that.

It's a good time now to release a best album because she's not selling as well as before but she's still very popular, so a best album will sale well for sure. Maybe, better than missunderstood.

Then again, Ayu might not want a best album. But AVEX sure does...

^well for BoA, avex does follow the rule 1st 3 (or sumtimes 4) albums then a best album. (so did ayu n even hikki even tho shes not part of avex).

If AVEX uses that rule for their artists, Ayu will release a second best album soon.

How will A BEST 2 be released?
 

I guess we all know there is a high possibility of a release of another best album from ayu soon, but there're too many songs to choose from since March 2001. So, what do u think A BEST 2 is supposed to contain?
IMO, it should not be accompanied with a dvd with all MVs of the songs on it, otherwise it'll waste her fans money. It's a good idea if she releases the best album with 3 formats in 1 package, like A POP, A BALLADS II, A ROCK, it would certainly be the best-selling album for the year

Perhaps it'd be a 2CD+DVD set, like Kumi Koda's BEST ~first things~. I'd definately buy that :)

High possibility of a 2nd best-of? Not really. Not at all.

If she gets another super hit she might do it. But I don't think she'd have enough new hits to put into it. Like on her first BEST she had "M" and tons of other older and newer hits. Her latest super-hit was voyage :rolleyes After that there hasen't been any songs of hers selling a lot more than her other releases, no single song becoming super popular. The only songs coming close IMO is No way to say and or STEP you, but since she diden't even perform STEP you @ kouhaku and it diden't sell that much more than her other releases, it can't compare to f.ex voyage.

IF a best album was released, i dont think she would put all her songs from 2001-2006 in there. it would probably be like she picks or her fanclub votes etc. so only like 17 tracks.

She don't need huge hits for a best album. Look at Koda Kumi, she never had a big hit (besides the Final Fantasy theme song, I guess) and her best album was a huge seller.

I think I agree with you, but I dunno. Now, almost every artist with lots of singles are releasing their complete collection (Ken Hirai with 10 years of singles, Koda Kumi) and it wasn't like that in 2001, so if Ayu decides to release her best album now, she could chose the 2CD format to put most (or all) of her singles from 2001-2006, it would probably be a big-seller.

record companies will release greatest hits collection even if fans like it or not, cos it is an investment that costs virtually no money at all. the profit margin of a greatest hits album is huge!

They should release a best of after her next album... an her next album shouldn't even come out this year..... it will keep the fans waiting.... The way i see it:

2006 March: Single
2006 July: Single (Only 1 A-side)
2006 December: Single (Double A-side)
2007 February: Single (1 A-side+1 B-side)
2007 April: Album (Only include the A-sides, and maybe even then, not all of them, leave out the ones that aren't as good.)
2007 November: Single (Double A-side)
2007 December: A Greatest Hits album. Should be a 2CD+DVD set.

Christmas sales would give the next greatest hits album a huge boost. The album would benefit from not having all the singles on it, people want new stuff. 6 singles + 2 interludes + 8 new tracks would be awesome :D.. and have PVs for 3 of the new tracks. :D

When talking about another possible BEST album [which I doubt], I just get so amazed on how far ayu has come. she is almost at her 50th single and 10th anniversary. you cant help but just admire her and adore her.

I don't see her making another best album any time soon. I think she'll definitely go for the 50th single mark and push for 10 years in the public eye before she releases another BEST. I think she'll probably keep going as long as she can without having Avex down her back about a second A BEST. She didn't even want A BEST in the first place...what makes you think she's going to want another?
